There are a couple things that don't make sense with this place. But it all starts with the price... I booked mine for about $80 a night. I think its a little cheaper than what a straight booking would cost but still pretty cheap. Anyways here are the things that done make sense with a $80 room:

1) Location - it was within walking distance of the beach and a busy part of PCH.
2) Cleanliness - very very clean throughout the whole hotel. I don't know for sure, but it felt like the hotel was newly built.
3) Service - Courteous and friendly, should be expected but you never know these days.
4) Comfort - Beds were nice and plush with plenty of pillows and blankets... almost too many.
4) Size - this room was HUGE. This surprised me the most, I literally asked the front desk if I had been upgraded without me knowing because it seemed like I got a room I wasn't supposed to get. Someone posted a picture on here that shows it, go take a look. You can easily fit your whole family in here without feeling claustrophobic and have lots of place to lounge around. The double sinks are also located conveniently outside the toilet and shower (which by the way is in a room that has a FAN... a rarity in hotels these days).

It's my first time at a Quality Inn so maybe I didn't know what I should expect but I'm glad I chose this place, the price and the freshness and space of it make it a definite go-to spot in LA.

I'm with Tracy... It's a great crash location in walking distance to a lot of stuff.  We loved walking down to the pier (downhill going there, but uphill coming home so keep that in mind).  It was also great to have the shopping complex next door to grab items we forgot at home.

Everyone that worked there was really friendly and helpful.  We had never been there before so they were great about offering suggestions and giving driving directions.

The breakfast was great too.  We enjoyed the waffles, fruit, yogurt, cereal and other tasty treats.

The rooms were so-so.  We're picky about the comfort of the bed and bedding, so that was what I'd like to see improved if we were to return.  Price was right though!

This is the only Quality Inn I've stayed in, but I keep coming back...  Hotel itself is average (3 stars on yelp, not to be confused with a 3-star hotel) but +1 for excellent location.

I guess I'm just in denial about growing up, but when I head to Hermosa for a weekend and bring friends, I want everyone to have fun.  As in, securing a preparty/afterparty/crash pad AND not forcing anyone to DD.

The rooms are about what you'd expect for often under $100/night-- clean, neat, not too many amenities, but they do have free "continental breakfast" (waffles, cereal, fruit, bagels) in the mornings, and a hot tub.

The big draw is that it's walking distance from Pier Ave-- I love getting up early, throwing on a bikini and trudging down to the beach just to fall asleep on my towel again.  Ralphs is right next door for that sunscreen you forgot to pack, and on the way down to the beach you'll pass Jamba if you want your fix.  Pier Ave offers a ton of nightlife options and if they all seem to suck, well, you've always got that hot tub and the remains of your preparty back at the room.

Good service, easy freeway access, walking distance from the beach... what else do you want?
