Hey, it's not bad for a budget stay, for which my fiance and I were looking.

Honestly, other than the super-tight parking spaces (several visitors managed to squeeze in their GMC Suburbans/Yukons which amazed me); the loud AC unit; the beautiful view of the gutted building next door, and the odd layout of the place(soda and snack machines; ice maker; washer and dryer are located on separate stairwells), we totally got used to it.

The location is within walking distance of the shops and restaurants just south of Encinitas Blvd and a few minutes from the 5 Freeway. It's also very close to the beach.

We stayed from Monday to Thursday evening and I thought the place was okay if you needed a home base from which to explore the area.

The free breakfast we experienced is very basic: toast, english muffins, some Cinnabon-y thing, bananas, hard-boiled eggs (which I thought was a little odd), dry cereal (some generic fruit-loopy cereal and raisin bran... The kids might like the spread). The juice dispenser offered OJ, fruit punch, and a couple of other choices which escape my memory. (lemonade?) The coffee was coffee. Eh, whatever. There are two fantastic coffee houses within a half-mile of this hotel so...

There was also a jacuzzi, which was nice, except it had a broken timer and the jets would only work for about ten minutes before shutting off. Also the tub tended to foam up... A LOT; as in breakers crashing onto the rocky seashore. There was also sand in the hot tub, which we blamed on the other guests since we saw it being cleaned after the first time we used it. When the jets are on, you don't even notice it.

When we checked in, our room was upgraded to one with an in-room hot tub. That was nice, but when we walked in, we were kinda shocked how cramped it seemed upon first inspection. However, we quickly got used to the odd layout of our room.

The hotel also featured free wireless which was nice, but tended to go in and out which was annoying as hell, but better than nothing.

The front desk help was very nice, however if you need help after-hours and find yourself in front of the lobby, the doorbell needs a special touch or it won't chime. Also during the middle of the week, our keycards started acting up. However that was quickly remedied by the hotel staff.

During our stay the ownership was transitioning to Quality Inn. We were even thinking of staying one more night, but the entire hotel was sold out for the weekend!!

Overall, not a truly horrible experience; we were never uncomfortable or thought that this place was horrible. I would recommend it as a place to sleep and clean up, but just be aware of the idiosyncrasies of this place, especially the tight parking spaces.

No no no no NO!  Three star average?  HA!  Even THAT'S Overrated.

When I think of this place, words like foul and disgusting come to mind.

After returning from a 9 month trip overseas, the wife and I decided to take a "staycation."  You know, just wanted to hang out in SD.  So she booked this place without actually seeing it.  HUGE mistake.

The parking, if you can find any, is rediculously tight.  Good job if you can get into one of these spots, you've got mad skills.  The room?  Horrible.  I had just got back from Iraq so I thought I could stick it out.  Mistake.  I swear I got ringworm or something from the sheets.  Dude, I was itching like a meth addict.

The tub was filthy and I cant prove it, but I think that red spot on the wall might've been blood.  I wasn't gonna stick around a 2nd night to find out.  When I went to get my money refunded for the 2nd night, the dude was okay and pretty much acted like it happens all the time.

Avoid this place at all costs!

Booked a room on short notice and wondered why, in the summer, it was available.  Well, it's not the nicest place around but it sure is in a convenient spot.  Walking distance to the beach, which is great.

The room itself?  The air conditioning broke on the first night but at least it broke while still working, so it was just stuck "on".  The shower didn't work right but could be rigged to turn on.  The water was lukewarm but I was sunburned anyway so I didn't mind.

The room came with a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and iron which was nice.  The carpet was pretty dirty and the towels had stains on them, but were clean.  The management was very helpful and attentive.  There's a small free breakfast in the early A.M. which consists of really bad coffee with very small cups, some cinnamon rolls, English muffins and cereal.  I guess it's better than nothing.

Oh, and the parking (as previously mentioned) is ridiculous.  You might be able to fit one of those teensy "smart cars" in a space, but if you have anything larger you should look for parking on the street behind the hotel, or try to get one of the few normal-sized spots next to the lobby.

I stayed here at the end of February on a Sunday and Monday night for a conference.  They had the best prices in the area, I think I paid around $130 total, which was much better than the other area hotels/inns.

I didn't notice the hot tub, but it was a bit cold for that.  The room came with a microwave and a small refrigerator.  The room I got was really big and in general the place looked really nice.  I also agree that the staff was quite friendly.

The parking is really tight.  So don't plan on getting your Ford Exhibition Tank in those tiny spots.  There's a few spots that aren't covered, but they'll likely fill up first.  My other complaint is that I got a non-smoking room, that smelled like smoke, booooo.   It wasn't too bad.

You can reserve rooms on the Inn's website.  But when you do, save your information and then call the place to make sure it went through, because they had no record of my reservation, but luckily I was going to a Beach Inn on a Sunday night in February.

Nice Inn/Motel right on Hwy. 101 just north of Encinitas Blvd and walking distance to Moonlight Beach. The walk is about ten minutes but nice if you walk through the neighborhood behind the hotel. The rooms are decent but not fancy. They have a hot tub but no pool. It fills up in the summer due to its location. Friendly staff.
