Quad City International Airport
5 reviews for Quad City International Airport
They've really done a good job here. Pre-9/11, you could lock your car a half-mile from the terminal and still be at your gate in 15 minutes. Hell, I remember the days of yore when non-ticketed passengers could come up to the gate and welcome their family and friends. I'm 27, so there was a time not so long ago when this was a reality.
Those days are gone, but it's still pretty damn fast here. Unless there's a bowling tournament or John Deere convention in town, it's a breeze.
I flew in to this airport almost ten years ago, when I had just graduated from college and was beginning a year of volunteer work in Cleveland, Ohio. Our opening retreat was in Tiskilwa, Illinois, and apparently, this was the closest airport.
I had kind of a chaotic experience during that trip--which would presage a fairly chaotic year. My initial flight was from one of the Southern California airports to St. Louis. That flight arrived late, and my connecting flight was on a different airline, so I literally had to run through the St. Louis airport just to make it onto the plane.
When I took a seat (I was the last person they allowed onto the plane), I noticed a bunch of guys with Vietnam Veteran caps staring me down. Apparently, they were on their way to or from a reunion of some sort. I didn't understand why they were giving me the evil eye until I realized I was wearing my War Resisters League T-shirt at the time. That just made me happy that I had pissed someone off.
The Moline Airport itself is OK. I got my bags just fine, and it didn't take me long to find the old-fashioned plane suspended from the ceiling that I was supposed to wait near in order to meet my ride to Tiskilwa. I really doubt I'll ever use this airport again, but I have driven around Moline while driving cross-country from Illinois to Iowa or vice versa.
I want to give the airport three stars, especially since this is its first rating, but I've been to better small-town airports.

I have to agree with Jane M.'s review.
It may be a small airport but you can't complain. There are some good stores and restaurants with decent hours.
Security is efficient. None of those long lines that we all dread. Rental cars and parking is a snap. No headaches at all.
Fast and simple. That's exactly how your flying experience should be.
A QC gem. Great parking, baggage claim, and ticket counter. No complaints here.
Flew out twice and in twice, no delays either time. No line for security on the day before Thanksgiving. Easy access from Davenport. Parking is a snap, rental car pick-up and return are easy. Interior is clean, spacious, and calm. QCA is pretty much all you could ask for.
