Best 60 Minute Swedish Massage I have ever had! The masseuse had a slightly different technique than most therapists, in a very good way.

My only complaint would be the receptionist kind of seems either new or not very customer oriented. He didn't know if I could make an appointment at the time I wanted so he asked me to hang up and he would call back. He also didn't know if they accept Spa Finder gift cards.

I went here for the TIbetan foot sauna, so my review is only for that experience. Honestly, I thought it was a waste of time. They put me on a chair in a waiting type area (not a nice, comfy chair, just a regular one) and stuck my feet into a bamboo heat contraption. There was nothing particularly relaxing about the ambiance. I sat and listened to a manicurist and customer chat away. My feet were put into plastic bags before putting them into the "sauna". I don't know if this is normal or not, but I would expect at least a light wash or lotion first, and it just wasn't very comfortable to have my feet in plastic bags. Afterwards it was kind of smelly, I'll be honest. When it was over, I just put my shoes and socks back on and left. Nobody attended to me in any way. It was just sort of an odd experience overall, and I wouldn't recommend it.

    Amateur hour.

I visited Qi Spa to redeem my Living Social or Groupon voucher for the Tibetan Foot Sauna treatment.  This treatment took place in their upstairs area, where I had to sit for the 45 minute session in a really uncomfortable chair.  They put my feet into trash bags and then put my feet into a heated bamboo box.  That's it.  The staff did come by several times to ask me if I wanted water or tea, so that's a plus.  After 45 minutes, they took my feet out of the bamboo box and had me sit in a much more comfortable chair for a 15 minute foot massage.  The massage was decent, but nothing special.  I can't remember how much I paid for the voucher, but honestly, I wouldn't go back if the treatment was free.

I walked in here on a whim.  I had been working out, so was a little sore.  And, honestly, life has been stressful.  So, my body was telling me so in many different ways.  I figured a nice massage would take some of the edge off.

I didn't have any expectations.  The reviews on Google were really poor, and the reviews here on Yelp were pretty mixed.

First of all, I made a last minute appointment (30 minutes before), and was taken as soon as I entered the place (15 minutes before scheduled appointment).  I really appreciated that.

Secondly, Prim, my expert masseuse, asked me what I was hoping to get out of it.   I told her, I just need to get rid of the stress.  My shoulders, back, and feet just hurt, and whatever she could do to relieve stress is what I wanted.

She immediately got to work. And she works fast!  I swear, I felt like I got twice the amount of massage in 60 minutes than I get anywhere else.  Even though I paid for the "swedish massage", I didn't really care what type of massage I got. She did a combination of deep tissue, swedish, and threw in a little bit of Thai massage, too.  At one point, she got up on my table to get better leverage and started using her whole body to work out the tension in my back.  It. . . was . . . awesome!

The entire time she was communicating with me, pointing out my stress points, letting me know what she was doing to work on them, and just paying attention to my reactions. Yes, I was wincing, but I knew it was good for me.  And, she could tell the difference between the good wincing and the bad ones, and laid off for the bad ones.

I felt like jelly walking out of there.  I'm definitely going back for more.

I received a 24K Gold Facial from Qi Spa, and though it felt heavenly, the consequences certainly did not! My face broke out within days -- painfully -- and I strongly suspect it was due to irritation from whatever products were used.

I definitely will not be going back.

I got an instant groupon, $15 for a 45 Minute Tibetan Foot Sauna, while i was in the area. I was the only one there when i arrived and i said i had a groupon. I got that look you sometimes do when you say you have a groupon...i was told there was no one who could take me even though it was a same day deal. once they realized they took me in. even though it was cheap it really wasn't worth it. it did nothing for my feet, calves, that i can tell. it got so hot nearing the end of my 45 minutes i had to just leave. maybe their other services are good but this one isn't worth a dime.

I received a massage at Qi as a gift from my very kind aunt while she was in town. Not a horrible experience, but afterward we both agreed that it didn't seem she got her money's worth.

At our appointment time, we were escorted upstairs to where the massage rooms were but for some reason they were apparently not ready for us. There was nowhere to sit upstairs so our escort put us on a small bench in a kind of random storage area behind a screen for about ten minutes. I would have rather she just let us sit in the proper waiting room downstairs for another ten minutes where we could still sip our tea in comfy chairs.

Now on to the massage. Not being a huge fan of deep tissue massages, I requested a Swedish massage. The pre-massage form didn't ask as many questions as I usually see (I find that more questions make for a better massage) and my masseuse did not talk about the form at all with me before she began. My massage was all over the place...there was very little of the nice flow typically associated with Swedish massages. The masseuse also used her elbows and forearms which is still a bit deeper than I prefer. Again, not a horrible experience but the small things were noticeable enough to keep me from completely relaxing during the massage...which really kind of negates the whole point of getting a massage no?

Bottom Line: Better Massages in the City for Much Less Money

I went for a Brazilian.  Usually I go to the last tangle: clean, efficient, and fast.  But they were booked and I walked past Qi Spa, which looked nice enough.  The receptionist and waxer were very sweet, but other than that this was the worst wax I have ever gotten.

I asked the receptionist if they double dipped sticks.  She looked confused and said that, no, they used new sticks.  NOT TRUE.  The waxer took the stick, dipped it in the hot wax, then applied wax, then put the SAME STICK back in the pot.  Disgusting.

On top of that, the waxer also did not wash her hands before/after the wax.  And she did not wear gloves.  I was so disturbed.  She did not wash up using the sink when she was done with my wax, then ran upstairs to do another wax on some other poor unsuspecting soul.

She also used tweezers that she pulled straight out of the drawer, not from any disinfectant jar or UV sterilizer.

In short, there were definitely THREE ways some nasty germs could have been transmitted through the most unhygenic waxing experience ever.

Finally, it was not quick.  It took 20 minutes plus.  My boyfriend who was waiting for me in the room noticed the time and remarked also on how long it was.

I'm still traumatized by how surprisingly unclean their procedures were.  They did put fresh linens down on the table but that was it!  Definitely not the place to go to get your hoo-ha waxed.  Bad.

    Just an update...

The owner reached out to me via Yelp and informed me that Marta was no longer working at Qi Spa and that Be had a current massage promotion.  She did not even apologize for my horrible experience or offer me anything outside of her current public promo.  When I pointed this out to her, she just told me that she was sorry I felt that way about her spa.  I am never going back.  I wasn't expecting something for nothing, but just a nice "I am sorry you had a bad experience" would have been nice and gone a long way.

I've had an ache in my lower back and in my shoulders for the past year or so. Add to that I've been having a hard time falling asleep. When I do fall asleep I'd wake up still feeling tired. Ladies and gents - that is stress.

I decided to do something about it by treating myself to some Thai Healing Massage yesterday and it was HEAVENLY! If you haven't had one before lemme tell you - it's a deep pressure massage. If you don't like that stuff go for something else, but if you need some good rubbin I highly HIGHLY recommend it!

Bee is just incredible. He got all the aches out,  that it now feels kinda strange that I no longer feel any of the old aches. I slept like a baby and woke up feeling refreshed. Seriously. When they said "healing" they weren't lying. So go ahead and give him a try. I'm so happy about the massage that I'm thinking of buying the series of 5 package.

Fluffy robes and slippers? Nope. Super luxurious? Not really. But if you're looking for a good, bare-bones massage without the cucumber-flavored water and aromatherapy products assaulting you at every angle, this is a pretty good place to try. They're constantly listing new specials and discounts on their website, so check it out first before you call.

When I arrived, the receptionist/cashier had apparently not notified my masseuse that she had an appointment with me, because I had to wait for about 15 minutes past my appointment time before she was ready. Despite the mixup, the masseuse (Natasha) was fantastic and gave me the best deep-tissue massage I'd ever had. She was super attentive and made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and even managed to break up some awful knots I had in my back. I would definitely recommend her, and even though the spa itself isn't as comfortable and Zen-like as a place like Red Door, you'll receive a great massage for a fraction of what it might cost at any other DC spa.

Wasn't happy with my massage. The masseuse spent the time either stroking me lightly or just poking me with her thumbs. Was not what I was looking for as I desperately needed a good, thorough massage as my muscle are tight and quite fatigued. I found it really hard to relax, though I usually fall asleep during a massage.  I now feel like a need to book another one elsewhere which will cost me twice over. I also think $90 is quite high up for the place. Some of the nicer spas are charging $100 so it didn't quite fit. Can't recommend it. Sorry.

I went here twice for bikini waxes, which, of course, are not the most pleasant of spa services. But they were better (higher-quality and less awkward) here than at almost any other day spa I've been to.

Staff: Both times the staff were friendly and provided great results. I don't recall the name of the first esthetician; the second time I went, my esthetician was Marta--she was very fast and did a great job. The receptionist was also pleasant and helpful with scheduling my appointments.

Location: Another plus is that for those of us reliant on public transportation, it's totally walkable from Foggy Bottom Metro (probably a 15-minute trip). However, thanks to its GT location, parking is probably a pain, and thanks to steep front stairs, it's not wheelchair-accessible at all.

Prices: I had a gift certificate for my appointments, but each of the waxings (both of them upper leg + bikini) ran $77, not counting tips.

I've been to sketchy "day spas" before and much prefer Qi. If I hadn't recently moved across the country, I'd go back there.

I went to Qi Spa for a massage with Natasha.  It was a great experience.  I was able to arrange an appointment for the same day at the time I wanted on a weekend.  The spa was easy to find and very pleasant inside - music, tea, etc.  I have a lot of problems in my shoulders and see a doctor for the muscle spasms, but was having quite the flare up and thought a massage would help.  Natasha spent a ton of time on my trouble spots and was very receptive to comments about the amount of pressure.  She even made some recommendations for other treatment options in the area and looked up their phone numbers for me after.  It was a great massage and assuming I can afford it, I'll go back.

I suffered injuries to my back after a crowded, jostled up Metro ride one weekend, and wanted relief before the weekend was over. Qi Spa was able to fit me in really quickly. The massage, given by Yoon Kim, was excellent. She applied just enough pressure to help work out the knots in my back without it hurting. She was very friendly, but not too chatty. I know some people prefer to have the luxurious, robe'n'slippers spa experience, but Qi Spa is definitely the place for working women who don't have hours to spare.

I kind of wish that I had received my deep tissue AFTER my glycolic peel of death. The facial kind of sucked, so whatever. I saw Irina (sp) for my deep tissue. She was the best massage therapist I've ever had, and she fixed my stupid neck! I'll definitely be visiting again next time I'm in the area; you should too!

I popped into the spa yesterday when I noticed a small note on their door that advertised threading. My brows were a sight so I decided to go for it. The session was practically painless. I had my service in a private room with soothing music rather than the assembly line fashion of Dupont Threading. The experience was such a pleasant one, that I made an appointment for a facial with my technician for Saturday. The threading was $25, so twice that of Dupont Threading, but I thought it was worth it

I had a very different experience than the other poster.  Perhaps Qi Spa has gotten better since then but I had a great time.  The receptionist was sweet and the masseuse was ready 15 minutes early (when they asked me to arrive).  The massage was great ... one of the better swedish massages I've gotten and the masseuse Elena was very talkative and friendly.  She even gave me some tips to avoid certain knotty areas I had at the end.  I would definitely recommend this place if you can get to Georgetown.  I know it's a hassle finding parking, but if you know Georgetown, then that's to be expected :P.

If you are into Thai Yoga Massage ("TYM"), go see Bee.  He is one of the best in DC.   Everyone should try a couple sessions of TYM or "lazy man's yoga" with myofascial-related and acupressure techniques.  Bee will stretch, pull and twist you and yet you cannot believe how relaxed you feel.  Had to stand on my feet and cook all day on T-giving so I rewarded myself with a two-hour session on, i.e., TYM and a 30-minute Swedish on Friday.  I slept so deep that night.  Great job!  His Swedish massage is not bad either.

The brazilian wax here was AMAZING! Best in DC! Best of anywhere including Polished which is also quite popular in the area. The waxer was very friendly and even had you do a breathing technique which was very helpful with pain. She was super friendly and made you feel comfortable. The wax was a special type of creamy wax for sensitive skin that includes Vitamin E and Aloe. Honestly, it was a great experience and I cannot wait to go back and get another one!

Yesterday I went to the Qi (pronounced chee) Spa for a massage, facial, mani, pedi and bikini wax.  First, I arrived 15 minutes earlier than requested because I had to take public transportation to the spa, but the receptionist was very nice and attentive.  Second, I've never had a bikini wax before and I was really nervous because I was told that they could be painful if not done right; but Beysith was great!  She has this special breathing technique to do when she pulls off the strips which helped to minimize the pain.  (If you have ever got a body piercing, it's the same one they use).  Third, (the reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5), the nail station was a little ghetto.  The pedi chair was just a large chair and they put one of those foot spas you can buy at a home store under your feet so there was no special jacuzzi or anything like that, but it was a good mani / pedi.  I can't compare my facial to anything because I have never had a facial before this one, but my skin felt great afterwards.  Lastly, the massage was awesome.  Natasha was great & she even upgraded my massage for me to a hot stone massage after I told her they were my favorite during our consultation!  I would definitely go back to qi whenever I need a spa experience.
