I came here to watch the Superbowl with some of my friends and had a pretty good experience. The waitress was very attentive even though it was pretty crowded. We had the wings (of course), buffalo style popcorn shrimp, hummus and waffle fries. The fries were so yummy - crispy and seasoned. And we also had way too much beer. They have specials every night which is nice. Last night was 30 cent wings and $3 bud light. Coming out of there, I felt like a heart attack was waiting to happen...

Love the wharf......great place to get together after work and have a couple of beers with some friends. The crowd is lively but not unruly or pretentious. For a NYC bar, the prices for food and drinks is very reasonable.
Great place to watch any game.
Staff is usually pretty cool and down to earth.

Stopped here for happy hour.. watched Kansas/Memphis game and had a good time. Good beer selection, good service, good food, good company. Sat out on the upstairs deck.. It definitely had a cooler vibe going on in there than the rest of the place.. Definitely will be back!

We came here to avoid the college crowd in the lower 30's. Good beer specials. You can watch a game from any view.
Great menu. Quick attentive service.
Met a nice crowd of guys that took care of our drinks the rest of the night...
Who could ask for anything more!

The Wharf will be my new go-to bar in Murray Hill. I was there for the first time this past Friday for a friend's birthday party. The inside of the bar seemed decent and spacious enough with plenty of TVs, but the back terrace/deck is what sold me. It's a great space with lots of seating and a laid back vibe. It is covered, with open windows to let a breeze in, which turned out to be perfect since it rained pretty hard that night.
I took advantage of the happy drink special and got a couple pints of Blue Point, in keeping with the nautical theme. Not in keeping with the nautical theme, I had the nachos, which were generous and tasty.
I'll definitely be back to delve deeper into the menu. The mussels fra diavolo are calling me!

My friends and I stopped here for "one" drink before going dancing and stayed all night. Liked the laid back vibe. Met some down-to-earth people and really enjoyed ourselves. Drinks were good, only had a few waffle fries so I can't really comment on the food. Lots of TVs for sports nuts. We hung out upstairs on the deck which was closed off.
There was a good mix of ages and types of people. Not too packed, not too empty. And this was during March Madness. Staff was friendly. My friends have a crush on the upstairs bartender.
The only drawback is the bathroom. Had to use the bathroom on the first floor due to the filthy condition the second floor bathroom was in according to my friend who came back with a horrified look on her face. All in all, I didn't mind that we never made it to the dance club.

This is a lovely little find in between the crazy Frat-like bars overcoming the 3rd avenue Murray Hill area. You walk in and it's just never ending. All I knew walking in was "come meet us on the back patio." Mmmhmm. Walk aaaaaall the way down through the main bar (this was more of the Monday Night Football section...I was looking for the baseball game section) then up the little stairs look to the left...to the right....over yonder...ahhh yes, there's the "back patio."
Nice spot. TVs everywhere. Waitress was attentive. Great selection of beers. The food menu was also extensive...just like the place. I went with the classy "grilled tuna." Say whaaaat??? No french fries that night for this girl! Although! They have a selection for both waffle AND shoestring fries. Mmm. Things to come back for. Everything was tasty. And it was comfortable. So comfortable, one baseball fan took his girl and made out with her in the corner instead of finishing watching the game. Hmm! Interesting choice. I'll be back. Probably bring a crew while I'm at it.

The wharf is a good choice for staying local and having a few drinks and nibbles. The munchies are good and the beers and everything else are priced well. Staff is great and it's not as packed as some more known (but not as nice) places in the neighborhood. There are daily specials which usually include $3.50 happy hour beers.
At last - a Murray Hill bar that's not full of grease (be it in someone's hair or on the food). I love this place for its down-home feel and its unpretentious attitude. Other bars in MH say "hey you, you can pretend to be cooler by going here, but you'll still look like a washed up loser", but the Wharf just says "hey man, take it easy and drink some beers." And I like that kind of friendliness from my bar.
Barkeeps here are very friendly, and great beer specials abound. Food is solid and hearty, excellent waffle fries help soak up the 12 pints of Boddingtons you may or may not have consumed in rapid succession. Play a litle Buckhunter with the guys on the first floor or head upstairs to the porch to hang outside and get a view of the myriad of sporting events that are always playing.
Great spot for a happy hour with laid back coworkers, or for kickin' it with the guys on a chill night. Bonus star for being a decent, clean and low-key bar in MH.

I like this place. Decent Bass Ale Special. Pretty good bar food (that's not too expensive- try the wings). They've got the games on. Vibe is alright. Yeah its pretty good.

I found this place by accident (Sept 2007), thinking it was Mica Bar. Thanks for nothing, Citysearch. I went with work colleagues for a few Wednesday happy hours and had a good time. Management was very accommodating and friendly for large groups (20+). Bar food is standard and good beer on tap. There is an outdoor deck and it's great in the summer. I recommend.
Dec 2007 UPDATE
A group of 10 returned last night to celebrate a birthday with light appetizers and drinks. The entire bar from head to toe was happening. We sat in the back, upstairs bar. In the summer this area is open; last night it was covered in a tarp and the heaters were on. Nice.
The restrooms are my only beef with this place. Have you ever sat on a toilet seat sideways? I did (it wasn't for #1 dummy) in the ground floor restroom. That blew chunks. I need to learn how to "do the two" standing up at the Wharf.
Jan 2008 UPDATE
I called and reserved a section for 15-20 people upstairs for another company happy hour. When we arrived, Jim (http://www.yelp.com/to...) welcomed me and showed me to the private section. With bartender Riley holding down the fort upstairs, it was another good time... great Irish Car Bombs. I wish I could avoid taking shots.

Seems like your standard Murray Hill bar/sports pub. Except they have a $7 burger and a bud lunch special (at least on Fridays). The burger was maybe 6-8 oz. & juicy. The beer was 16 oz. & cold.
4 stars for the lunch special. Can't speak for anything else...

I like this place - and people were right in the other reviews: this is thankfully NOT a frat bar.
Spacious, yummy food, prompt service.
We were all happy with our beers. I enjoyed my bratwurst and 007 liked his burger.

On third ave in Murray Hill, you have Tonic, Mercury Bar, Joshua Tree, Bar 515, and this bar is in the same mold - except a little less "college-y". Typical pub food with burgers, wings, chicken fingers, potato skins, etc. What makes this place stand out is the HUGE outdoor patio and daily beer specials. I tried the wings and thought they were great. The steak salad, potato skins and guacomole dip (small portion) were also good.
The service was very pleasant, so I would recommend going here if you want some cheap pub food and enjoy the outdoor seating.

This is a nice choie to grab some beers. But be aware of 2 male bartenders at 2nd floors. They are definitely shortchangers. I gave $10 for $3.50 beer and they tried to give me only $3. They do often! ( -__-)... scammers.........
Packed for football nights. Good atmosphere. Probably going to have to stand though.
