2 dollar cocktails, that are good? I dont care how crowded you are im in there. The Tuni ahi is super good too, tried to make it at home, just couldnt duplicate. Oh well whenever I crave I can go there. It is pretty small, but you can step outside in between drinks.
granted the spot is small (with two levels), but I wasn't crowded at all, they have pretty decent beers, well drinks, and jade cocktails all for $2 and $2 off all glasses of wine from 5-7
I wish they had food to nibble on, but there are so many great spots in hayes valley, I can just head up the street to Frjts or something after

400th review! HAYYY!
Jade bar has 3 floors, which appeals to the ADHD in me. And the several personalities I retain.
Ana: I like the downstairs because it has a POND! And it's dimly lit so it creates a more intimate feeling so you can sit there and makeout with a really, really cute guy *giggles* And the bartender isn't so bad on the eyes himself!
Ria: I like the middle part because it's closest to the bathroom because you make me want to vomit.
Me: *I* like the upstairs. It feels like a loft, and I happen to love those things. I even have a loft BED. The carpet is shag, and part of me wanted to just lie down and sleep, butttttt you have no idea what's on the floor so I put my self control in check. Instead, I sat down next to Rye and Keane (who smelled awesome, btw. You know, because that's not creepy to mention or anything. Don't worry, Jon you smelled good too. If I mention more than one person it removes the creepiness factor), and drank my beer while talking to Rye about Israel. Of course, that's all I remember talking to him about because I was two sheets to the wind.
Ana will for SURE be back on a date. Ria will when Jaime's had too much to drink, and Jaime just won't remember anything until she wakes up the next morning in someone's bed wondering why her clothes are inside out but still on and who is that girl sleeping next to her?

Small, tri-level bar with happy hour special Jade Cocktails that are strong, fragrant, sweet, and green--and cost a whopping $2. Two bars, one on the entry level and one on the bottom story.
The stairs from the entry level to the basement cross over a waterfall that cascades down a tile wall. It looks very cool but does have the disadvantage of making the lower room noticeably more humid.
Great spot to grab a drink after work.

This place is surprisingly cool and left me happy.
Came here for drinks on a Wednesday evening. The crowd was thin but friendly. Bartenders were attentive. Ambiance is fitting for a too-cool lounge. $2 cocktails were a bonus.
The men's bathroom is a bit out of place but neat anyway.
I'd come back here.
3 unique levels..... all small and cozy floors which is usually the mood i go for when i'm drinking. main floor, has just a regular-looking bar feel. upstairs is an intimate loft area perched above the main bar. great for voyeuristic tendencies. the lower basement level.... sexy and tight space, with a waterfall.
i'm currently holding court here... for Sav. i'm keeping it all going when he's in NYC. i polish the statue of him sometimes.... as i drink my 8th or 40th drink at the bar.
my favorite level is the downstairs. the sound of running water from the waterfall..... goes perfect with my drink.
this bar is bliss.

I realllly love the set-up of this joint! It is so fun and different! The downstairs is my fav though. It's small but so comfy and chill.
I love the little waterfall/pond and the decor is trendy-lounge meets lax-bar. The colors are soothing ... think Jade. Duh...
Real fun place to meet up with friends for a yummy cocktail concoction or simple brew, yet chill enough to bring a date or your mate for some sweet convo and a manhattan...
I'm feeling the vibe - I will return, but next time I won't be DD.

still 5 stars but i stoped by there on Monday and it was closed! Where am i supposed to get $2 happy hours on Mondays?

$2 happy hour...need i say more?
How can you beat $2 cocktails during happy hour?!!? Decent ones, too. Otherwise, the place is pretty nice inside and I always have a good time there. To be fair, I haven't been there past 8pm so I can't comment on the evening crowd.
Awesome happy hour, but the place looks better at night because then you get a pretty cool ambiance.
Atmosphere. Atmosphere. Atmosphere.
I love the pool, and the cozy upstairs lounge. They drinks were pretty good, but a little too sweet for me -- nothing like the complex drinks at Beretta for instance. I'd love to come here on a night when it was less crowded and sit on some pillows in the lounge sipping cocktails with my friends. Yes, that'd be the life.

Jade is one of my favorite bars. The downstairs is so chill and cute. The pool is really unique. Nice selection of tasty beers and the lemon drop is good too. I love Jade because you can come here with your friends or bring a date.
I've been a fan of Jade since it opened. Something about the bright chartruse colored sign glowing in the night, just a stumble down the street from my house.
Anyhoo....it smells like a pool in there all the time which reminds me of excercising and the gym. This aromatic oddity is made possible by the waterfall and wishing pool combo in the front of of the bar.
They have overpriced eats which are actually quite tasty, just needs to be more on the plate personally for me to get excited about it.
I love the happy hour here $2 drinks, friendly working class girls, the occasional weirdo neighborhood working class dude. Waterfalls, cheap drinks, grotto like downstairs, what more do you want in a happy hour?
You can find me here sipping specialty cocktails before 7:30 on weeknights when the mood is right.

It smells like the YMCA indoor pool in here. Yeah, like chlorine. I guess it's the huge waterfall or something. Love the little upstairs loft area, but I can totally see someone getting drunk, leaning over and falling into the bar below!

Happy Hour Par-tay, people. The only respectable HH in town. $2 off every single glass of wine (the list includes a decent Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, and some nice reds), and $2 microbrews.
Plus nice vibe, cool servers, and mellow scene.
My only criticism, and yes, I think this warrants a one-star demerit, is that Jade has recently stopped serving food, although they permit you to order and have delivered, or bring food in. No food is a recipe for being snockered by 7, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

Over the past year or two, "Jade" has become a hot spot for their famed $2 beer/well drink Happy Hours. So much so, that on peak Friday and Saturdays I open the door to the bar and run smack into an almost solid wall of flesh.
But beside those hours, when bar stools are not contested territory and I can walk to the bathroom without getting elbowed, it can be a wonderfully relaxing place to sip a drink and talk amongst friends. Regulars, bartenders, and even the door guys are the most witty, open, and friendly I've ever found in a place that prioritizes alcohol.
I find it still one of my favorite casual places to wind down a long day, listening to 80s music, relaxing with the cooling breeze of the waterfall along the wall, lightly swept across the small 3-level surroundings.
Happy Hour: Mon - Fri 5:00PM - 7:30PM, Sun all night.

Eh, not a huge fan, to say the least. This place was so hyped up based on reviews and rumors but it failed to impress me. After a nice depressing stroll down Ellis from my apartment up on Divis down to Jade Bar, I needed a drink to refresh me. Unfortunately the place was impossible to maneuver. Sure, there were plenty of people there, but the real reason was that the location of the tables and giant chairs (specifically downstairs) took up so much space, that once we were finally able to get a drink, we spilled half of it getting bumped into or tripping over chairs on the way back to our crowded corner that we were huddled in. The waterfalls make the place extremely humid and smelly and I felt like sweat was dripping off the walls.
The drinks are definitely cheap though so if you're looking for a deal and a public-swimming-pool-smell meets humid-tropical-air vibe, Jade Bar is a good place for you.

Love this place-- definitely because of their $2 happy hour drinks! Doesn't get much better than that! The place is also clean and cozy in a trendy neighborhood, a cool place to hang out and for a low price. Great place to meet up with friends.
piss behind a one way mirror and watch the bartender pour drinks. CROWD IS MOSTLY OBNOXIOUS on weekends. only half marinafied.

Small, intimate bar with three floors and a waterfall that permeates a faint scent of bleach. The third floor is carpeted with a few coffee tables and ottomans littered about. The main floor is the bar and the bottom has more open space. I came here on a night where I missed the $2 drinks but it was un-crowded enough and was quite relaxing, despite the fact that I was there for a work meeting.
And apparently if you are nice enough to the bartender he'll also get you a bowl of gummy bears.
Didn't try the happy hour that everyone is talking about, but we came here before the sf symphony event and got a couple of mojitos and had some hors d'oeuvres (it was an event thing so maybe the food was catered?). Both the drinks and treats were really tasty. At $8/drink, the mojitos were on the high side of reasonable, but with the freshly crushed mint leaves and limes, it was well worth it.
I liked the coziness of the place and the bartender was really friendly. I'd be back here if I was in the area for an event.
$2 happy hour beers/well drinks until 7:30 - what else is there to say?
Well, a few things:
Decent diverse crowd here - everyone from city hall stiffs to, um, the yuppie scum and surfers, slackers, and hanger-ons
Warning: A bit crowded here - try to stop by early (they open at 5pm - don't be afraid to be first in - you will be glad when you view the standing room only crowd an hour later from the comfort of your chair) and secure some stools at the bar or one of the three deuces along the wall. The seats upstairs in the mezzanine and down in the dungeon leave a lot to be desired unless you prefer to sit on square padded footstools - then these butt-resters will be right up your alley.
Bonus: One way mirror in the mens room looking out at the bar so you can really scrutinize that girl you are trying to muster up the courage to speak to. Don't wait too long, young friend....
Never been here later than 8 or so. But undoubtedly it is one of my favorite happy hour destinations and convenient to a "change of venue." Absinthe or Place Pigalle, depending if you want to go upscale or down.

Jade bar is trendy and decor has a cozy yet minimalist look. The small waterfall is a nice little touch to make up the whole experience. The crowd is quite reserved during all the week nights, which is just what I like! You just have to keep in mind that this place is really really small. We are talking about 500sqft top on the main floor with the bar, so make sure you go earlier to snap a good spot by the bar or somewhere you can sit.
Drinks are decently priced even without the happy hour, and bartender is constantly making sure if we have enough drinks, so no complaint from me.
I been here once during weekend, it was so packed you literally can't even have a place to stand, so I will stick to my week night routine to this cozy lounge.

its small but big. 3 levels. cant really call them floors. but the water fall is three stories high so its nice and the pool at the bottom is pretty. wonder what it would be like to get in one day when your completely trashed and turn it into a pool party. the best part is sunday night is happy hour $2 drinks the whole night. the Jade Cocktail is pretty yet potent. when they make it they fill the glass with ice and so you think ohh thats why its $2 its all ice. but then they pour it out and use their premade mixure of green pleasure. vodka, pinapple juice, coconut and midori. this lil bugger is strong. $6 and your done for the night!! the upstairs area is great for people watching and downstairs is fun for lounging and catching up with friends. just be aware of the stairs.

ya walk in and you're like, why does it smell like i'm at the swimming pool? then you look around and you're like, 'ohhh this place is cuuuute!'
so we went downstairs and got some pretty pricey cocktails in my opinion, i mean i guess i'm a beer kind of girl so i'm used to paying around 4 or 5 bucks for a drink... the Jade cocktail was 7 dollars or something and i must say was really delicious. but i am a sucker for vanilla. we also tried the strawb-mango mojito, which was 9 bucks and completely delectable.
i sprained my elbow tripping up their slippery metal stairs (uh.. yea), probably not Jade's fault though, ya know?

I came here with a couple of the ladies on a hot friday after work. I don't know if it was the heat or what, but we only had to buy our first round of drinks. Random guys just came offering to buy us drinks! The $2 happy hour is one of the best in the city. We started out with pepe lopez cocktails and ended with patron cocktails! We had a great time and I will be back again soon-the next hot day!
Jade is like home to me and my girl-friends. Needless to say, it's a fav hangout place. Sadly, I will miss Ron, the bouncer. It's his last day tomorrow. :-( But LOVE the service, GREAT strong drinks, best happy hour in town, Very friendly bartenders (not to mention HOT) :)
Jade is my "home away from home" place. Come say hi to me if you decide to swing by! :o)
$2 to $3 Happy Hour drinks..
I love Jade. I love the staff, and I love the waterfall. It is a small space where you can lounge with your friends, and have a really good time.
They have no problem with bringing in a bag a Doritos to eat while you sip on your cocktail. You can also order a small plate to eat.
Best Drink: The Jade drink $2

3.5, really.
I would never want to go when there are a lot of people, but I really enjoyed the happy hour. The bartender was very nice, and we enjoyed hanging out for awhile before heading off to dinner.
I've never been to a more wonderfully tacky place. It's like a yuppie dive bar. Such a strange combination.
When I first walked in, the first thing I noticed was the smell. The chlorinated water running off the walls made the bar smell exactly like It's a Small World in Disneyland. Hmm...thinking about that smell now leaves a funny taste in my mouth.
The second thing I noticed was the black shag rug in the upstairs lounge. Honestly, when I stepped on it, I felt like I was walking through someone's dirty crotch. Oh, and my Cost Plus-esque lounge stool was sticky, too. Yuck.
But, still, Happy Hour drinks were only $2, and their Jade Cocktail tasted like pinapple-y sweet candy. Sugary goodness. Also, the bar goers were nice, and the bartender didn't seem to care that I didn't tip him after every drink. That gets kudos in my book.
I have been to Jade on two occasions, and both times, left very disappointed.
Yes, the waterfall is cool. I'll give it that. But frankly, the most beautiful scenery in the world couldn't save this bar from two things: (1) there's no room to breathe; and (2) the bartenders don't know how to pour drinks.
Before my experience at Jade, I'd never met an Absolut and tonic I didn't like. How the dude managed to screw it up will forever remain a mystery. I left without the slightest buzz.

Best name for a bar EVAR. j/k. I actually like this place a lot. The bar is very small and has two levels. The top level is enough room only for a few people, but the bottom floor is more of a cozy lounge with a lovely waterfall over a mosiac tile wall. They never play annoying music and the staff are always very nice. I never order anything special except for a glass of wine or a jameson rocks so I can't really vouch for the cocktails here. It's not a good place to go if it's busy because of how cramped it can feel but on a weeknight, it's a great place for a happy hour. oh and did I mention I love the name?

The Good News:
1) That $2 happy hour cocktail is a legend! Let's just say I've made lots of bad decisions WHILE IT WAS STILL LIGHT OUT thanks to the Jade.
2) The little $6 apps help me avoid a full face-plant and keep it to a harmless wobble on my way out. They're cute and yummy.
3) The happy hour crowd is a nice mix of ages and styles.
4) That waterfally thing is more than pretty: it keeps things balmy and cozy. If you head downstairs, it's especially warm and tropical.
The Bad News
1) It gets crowded real quick. Leave work early to guarantee a seat.
2) The post-happy hour crowd looks (and acts) like they're being cast for ELIMIdate. Get the hell out of there once the drink special is over.

This place is cute, but its waaaay too small. I wouldn't recommend going here on the weekend because it gets too crowded. Also, the waterfall, while very cool, makes the entire place feel like a sauna. I'm talking muggy, frizzy hair- clammy skin- non fresh air status. Not exactly sexy.
Drinks were good and reasonably priced but I probably won't go back due to aforementioned environmental issues and its kinda random pseudo Hayes Valley location.

the first time i went to Jade, i hung out downstairs, by the little waterfall/fountain like pool and got buzzed downing yummy and cheap Jade drinks ($2!) and eating delectables like ahi with roe served on a spoon. that was about a year ago. my recent foray still was filled with yummy cheap happy hour drinks but it seems that they have forgone the food offerings. which was disappointing but it's still a chill spot to blow a tiny amount of money for a whole lotta booze for the happy hour set. and not too far from public transportation either so hooray!
One asian grocery staple that I slyly would throw in the cart as a child were those itty bitty Yakult yogurt drinks. Each bottle was barely a sip, but the sip was a sweet & sour marvel.
Sipping my $2 jade cocktail yesterday evening, my first, I noticed that it tasted very familiar. After pondering a moment, it registered - it tasted just like those Yakults of yore! Who knew an innocent childhood drink could be revamped into an alcoholic concoction potent enough to have me stumbling over to CPK after happy hour to devour fettucini because of the drunken munchies?

HI 5 to the bartender working on Saturday. He made us feel comfortable and relaxed, never rushed, even if it was just my friend, me and him lol. You will definitely catch me back here for happy hour, evening cocktails, or just a night out on town with friends. Just a heads up, be aware of the waterfall/fountain that runs under that stairs, phones have been known to have fallen inside!! Other than that, if you have not been to Jade, then GO!!
Question: What's better than a happy hour Jade Cocktail for only $2?
Answer: A happy hour Jade Cocktail for FREE!
Or 4 or 5......
By the way, did I mention the entire male staff of a popular car dealership right down the street tends to congregate here on certain Wednesday nights?
And my girlfriend and I must have looked extremely thirsty. Not that I'm complaining...
(Becky the bartender, you are a good, GOOD woman for putting up with all the shenanigans you see!)
In my defense, I ain't no gold digger, biyotch! If I was, I'd at LEAST make sure to order a glass of expensive wine or something...
It's just that those Jade Cocktails are bomb. And Jade Bar is convenient and quite cute. Take me there for happy hour... I won't care if you call me a cheap date!
