I'm writing as a member of the club and I am very happy with my membership. The Mellon Bank building was constructed in 1990 and the architect designed the building with the idea that a private club would be placed on the top floor. The space actually remained vacant for some time until a the Pyramid Club came in 1993. It was named the Pyramid Club because of the Pyramid shaped top of the building.

The two business clubs that exist in the city are the Pyramid Club and the Union League. Unlike the Union League Pyramid Club is a much more progressive business club and has a lot more young members like myself. Its also a lot more affordable than the Union League. Its a great place to network and connect with other professionals and entrepreneurs. All the services, dining privileges and use of space are exclusive for members and guests only.

Like any other country club type place the Pyramid Club is a full service restaurant and bar as well. It was just recently that the Pyramid Club changed chefs. The Chef's name is Alex. He seems like he's in his mid to late 30s and is very talented. They serve mostly American and Continental style food. There's also a bit of Asian fusion. I really enjoy eating dinner here because I feel that a meal is so much more enjoyable on the 52nd floor of a building! hehe. The food was mediocre before but its] much better now with the new chef.

They serve breakfast and lunch buffet style and its always great. I love the smoked salmon they have here for the lunch spread. In the lounge there's also complimentary cookies fruit and coffee in the afternoon and hor doeuvres which include veggies, finger foods and a cheese spread in the evening.

There's a different menu for either the bar or the dining room. At the bar they have kobe beef sliders, shrimp cocktails (my absolute favorite), calamari and the wings are very tasty too! In the dining room one of they're specials is their charred tomato soup. The entrees are all prepared to a good standard.

The Pyramid Club is a perfect place for individuals like myself who have clients in the city and need a classy place to meet. Its a lot more impressive to meet here than at the Starbucks around the corner. They also give special menus without the price for your guest if you are entertaining guest or clients. All the transactions are done through your member account and billed to you once a month. They even offer discounted parking at the Crown Plaza across the street! This place has become my office away from office.

My sentiments are basically the same as the other reviews.  I came here for an alumni fundraising event, not because I care about my alma mater (I emphatically do not) but because I wanted to check out the views, the dark woods, gold fixtures and the smell of money.

So, yeah.

Not nearly as nice as the Union League - but the food is good and maybe even better here - plus you have those gorgeous views of the city.

For a holiday party ofr networking event - it's a great spot.  As long as someone else is paying - I'll be there.  But there is NO WAY I'd join as a a member.  Too much money.

They easily accomodate large or small groups and have some meeting rooms that are cozy for the small ones.

I went to some college fundraiser here.  This is where the movers and shakers and white people with money in Philadelphia like to go to pretend they're not big fish in a small pond.

It's all cherry and leather and resplendent in GOPness.  It's a private club, but it's run by ClubCorp so it's kind of weird, not like the Union Club that's kind of organic elitism. This place is relatively new and set up to be a private place--so weird
