BEST DOG BOUTIQUE I'VE EVER BEEN IN!  I've sat on this review for a day because I wanted to be sure before I wrote that, but it's true.  I went there yesterday and liked it so much that I tried to go back again today to show my better half.  We were stuck in horrible traffic within 2 blocks of it because of some street fair.   I tried 2 alternate ways before giving up and heading home, but the effort should say something.  I'm gonna try to not make an epically long review.

Located on the ground floor of the in the Santa Fe Lofts building (lucky residents) I was immediately greeted and then something unexpected happened.  Upon hearing this was my first time here, a man named Lee offered and gave me a first class comprehensive tour of their store and all they offer.  He must have spent 15 minutes with me explaining each of their services and the finer details where applicable.  I was super impressed as he pointed out the premium grain-free food they carry, the raw food selections, the DIY grooming station with Potty Grass area they have, the 911 Vet they had coming in to help out that day, the literature section, the fresh hand made treats they offer, premium grooming supplies, the dog bar...  I could go on and on.  So safe to say, my visit was off to shaky start.  = P

I don't know where to start.  Let's get the basics out of the way even though it can be assumed otherwise.  Bright, clean, well decorated, big, open, comfy chairs, service, selection, premium food, treats, dog running around off leash, toys, and supplies.  All yes.  The DIY dog wash/grooming station really impressed me from the start since I can count the number of locations that offers both a store and DIY grooming of top quality on one finger.  They have two tubs.  Both stainless steel, and one for small to medium dogs and another for large dogs that was deep enough that a Great Dane wouldn't have a problem fitting in.  They even a have a potty grass spot with a fake hydrant that you pet can relieve himself if you spend too much time grooming or shopping.  Prices are super reasonable at $12-$20 depending on the size and breed.  $5 off first time visit.    The prices really impressed me.

They have a doggy bar where you can order a meal and drink for your pooch just like at a human walk up counter.  They provide the dishes and have a nice area for your pup to sit and enjoy themselves.  They also have a patio where they hold special events or you can just get some food yourself so you can eat while your dog eats.  The highlight of the day that bowled me over was the sandwiches they had catered in from LA Cafe.  That's not a common occurrence I'm sure, but how much better can a store get when I get to shop with a freshly made panini sandwich in my hand?  I had a few. = )

Great selection of treats, matched only by Muttropolis in San Diego.  Lee gave me samples of Ziwi Peak kibble, Embark dehydrated raw dog food, and something that's never been offered to me, a sample of their frozen raw food.   Wow, we have a lot to go home and try.

Only two negative things I can say.  You'll have to find your own metered street parking, and I have to drive from WLA to downtown where I have no business being.  If they opened up a location in WLA/Santa Monica, I would probably be there weekly or more.  Something that they said they are addressing, but as of now they don't have a groomer on staff.  Not a big deal, bc I have a groomer I love, but it would just make this place even better.

I left with a big bag of Ziwi Peak, a dog toothbrush, and some treats.  Angus is very happy.  Go check it out with your dog or cat... NOW!

This place if only for VIP's. (very important pussy's and very important pooches) and my Siamese IS a VIP so I was happy to find this store on yelp.

During my move from the South Bay to South Park (I love saying I live in South Park) I some how lost my kitty clippers and my cat was using the only resource he has...our furniture.  So I was walking around my new hood taking detours here and there and finally found PPPP.

The place reminds me of a W version of a pet store with some funky music in the background and the cool decor which is actually their unique pet supplies which doubles as art.

Thank You PPPP

Our kitty and our furniture are much happier now.

They really need to take the word "Pussy" out of their name because they have next to nothing for cats.

I went here a few weeks ago to get stuff that will help heal the cat's furballs and stop him from scratching the crap out of my couch.

As I walk in a see a bunch of dogs playing in a little playgound and their owners sitting there watching, very cute. However, I wasn't there to watch dogs at play (or get sniffed and followed by some dog wandering the store), I came for a fur brush, hairball gel, and hopefully a scratching post.

After searching around, I fiiiiinally found the cat section. It was probably 3'x5' little area on a wall filled with a few toys and some catnip. They also had a few varieties of  organic cat food, but I already have my cat food. I need anti-hairball stuff and couch saving stuff.  How disappointing for a store that indicates that they specializes in both cats and dogs.

If I had a dog, I'm sure I'd love this place. However, I have a cat and there isn't much here for cat owners.

We just adopted a dog from our local shelter and the first thing we did was take her here to get a good scrub down. We were a little nervous as we weren't sure how she'd handle getting a bath and she's a tough lookin' pitty, but she was super sweet and didn't give the dog groomer any trouble, thank god. I think the express wash was about $25-$30? and took under an hour but that was with ear cleaning and nail grooming too. The best part was she came out smelling SO intoxicatingly GOOD that all I wanted to do was bury my face in her fur. ***edit: JESUS, I didn't realize how WRONG that sounded, gross. *** It was the most heavenly scent ever. I'm wondering if I can buy a bottle and use it for my hair, is that weird? You can also pay $18 to use their wash station for a DIY doggie wash, cool. Will try that next time.

They also had lots of sleek doggy accessories -- we were shopping for a doggy bed but balked at the $150 prices for the designer beds and the nice shop staffer kindly directed us to go to Costco to buy a huge plush bed for just $20 -- so that we wouldn't have to spend so much on a starter dog bed. Really appreciated that kind of service. Will definitely be our go-to for all dog grooming services and oh, good selection of organic dog foods and dog treats, too.

If it has been pussy and hooch (referring to alcohol) it could have been a titty bar. In a whirlwind I went from the Pacific Northwest to LA in less than a week... holy hell. This place does have more stuff for dogs than cats.. organic blueberry treats? who knew? I went on Saturday and there were some super cute kittens and dogs for sale.. If I lived in the area I would have gotten one in an instant.. OMG super adorable! I had never seen a boutique for dogs and cats quite like this.. It was like Crate and Barrel or William Sonoma for your dog/cat.

I am mortified. i brought my dog in for a grooming (wash and dry) and not only did we sit there for an hour longer than promised but he came out with his hair cut over two inches in a terrible cut! They didn't even try to explain it and cavalierly said he had some mats. Yes he had a few mats but trust me, I have had this dog for two years and know they were minor. Additionally, they had our number and should have called to ask-I would have said they could absolutely not cut his hair and particularly into an ultra short cut when his hair was long and he is a bichon. His eye area is extremely inflamed and look like they were nicked with a razor. I cannot understand what happened here-its really shocking and he is very traumatized. I don't know if the groomer was drunk or insane but she should be fired.

To this places credit, the owner and staff are very friendly. Our money was refunded but I am really really upset about this and worry about my dogs eyes as well. I cannot even imagine how this occurred-the worst experience I have ever had at a dog groomers so I am shocked by these reviews.

I've got to admit, I was a bit skeptical about this place at first, even after I moved into the neighborhood.  I've got to stick to a student's budget but still want to take care of my dog as good as he deserves to be treated - like a member of my family.

P&P's website listed a few items (not the entire selection), and they only listed raw food that was pretty expensive, so I was under the impression that all they have is expensive stuff.

But the owner contacted me and explained that they had more than just what was listed online, so I stopped by and had a chat with the staff.  They're all wonderful, very sweet and knowledgeable (not to mention hot, but that's another story).

After recommending to us a couple different brands of dog food, we settled on Before Grain.  The benefits have been incredible: Bear has much more energy, a shinier coat and absolutely loves his food.  I could swear he's leaner now too.

Thanks to P&P for their help in finding a dog food that is within our budget and beneficial for our pet.  We'll be back anytime we need anything for him!

P & P is the Bloomingdales of pet stores not just for the pricey merch and furniture, but also for their excellent customer service... that is 5 stars. I discovered them while driving around running errands for work and made a quick stop that turned out to be longer than expected. Oops!

Anyway, I was really impressed with all the merchandise you can spoil your beloved pet with.  Lee was so awesome! He gave me a tour around the store and suggested, but didn't push, dog food and other interesting items...super sweet guy.

Yes, some stuff is pricey but I had a grand old time there and Bebe and Nisha LOVED their BG food...and although my dogs worship it, beware of the canned TRIPE...its like ground zombie in a can!

This place is awesome!!  As a new dog owner, I went and checked out PetCo, SmartPet, Centinela Feed and Pussy & Pooch.  Hands down, I will NEVER go anywhere other than Pussy  & Pooch again.

First, the staff here is extremely knowledgeable, compared to the staff at the other joints who were either disinterested or just didn't know much about dogs in general.  We talked to Amy at P&P about our new puppy for a good 30 to 40 minutes.  She directed us to the proper quality dog food and treats, helped us decide what potty training method would be best and really spoiled our little Lucy.   When we went back a second time for some flea treatment, the staff there played with our dog and even applied the proper amount of flea medication for us - which was helpful since as a first time dog owner, everything is new to me.  This place makes you and your pet feel right at home!

I will never be going anywhere again for Lucy's needs!  If you have a dog or cat, you must make a visit to Pussy and Pooch.

It's been so hard to find a good, friendly groomer and a nearby place to find good food. Pussy & Pooch is awesome. While the retail store is pricey with only high-end pet goodies, the grooming prices are awesome. The whole staff is friendly and has made a point of getting to know my dog well. Also, their events are fun!

We have several pets (I will leave it at that).  We live in downtown and this is the most convenient pet store nearby.  The food selection is not huge, but the food they do sell are all of excellent quality.  They sell Wellness, BG, Orijen, and others.  We feed our pets Orijen and Wellness Core, so we're happy that they carry these brands.  However, we usually don't get large bags of Orijen and Wellness from this store because their prices are outrageous.  Instead, we go to Anaheim feed (whenever we're in Orange County) and stock up on food.

They have a great selection of harness, collars (including martingale collars) and leads.

They also have a good selection of cat food and cal supplies.

The owners are very knowledgeable.  The rest of the staff are not as knowledgeable, but they are very friendly and you can tell they really love animals.

I used to be cool.  I went out all the time, partying 'til 4am.  I dressed well... "dashing" probably described me best.  I ate at posh establishments and rubbed elbows with celebrities and the social elite...Hell, i WAS the social elite.

...now I'm old.  This week, I've worn the SAME cargo shorts, t-shirt, and pull-over every. single. day.  Same boxers, too (gross).  And it's Thursday.  CARGO SHORTS?!  I mean, wtf, Chet?!

....I eat out of a Trader Ming's noodle box almost nightly and fall asleep to the witty satire of John Stewart....at 11pm.

... and you know what I really, truly, and HONESTLY look forward to a couple of weekends a month?  Bathing my big, stinky Doberman at Pussy&Pooch.  Seriously.

I'm a dude, and I actually LOOK FORWARD to going in, chatting with the friendly staff (what up, Lee!!), giving my dobie a big-scrub down, then hitting the doggie-bar for an after-bath treat.

About $20 buys your large breed dog the works (that is if you do it yourself, which I prefer to do).  If you own a big dog downtown and try to bathe him in your teeny tub, you're a braver than I thought.  I get to use 3 different types of shampoo and conditioner, plus special face-scrub, all with a flexible water nozzle/hose to clean-out all stinky areas, and unlimited towels to dry the beast off....

... and best of all, I don't have to clean up a thing!

And while personally I never got 'dressing your dog in human clothes', to each their own, and P&P has you covered.  They also have quite an extensive selection of speciality/organic/natural dog food brands you're not going to find at the grocery store... and even sometimes not at Petco.

For you uber-dog lovers, sign-up on their email list; P&P holds almost monthly "dog/people" events and mixers.... that-- gulp-- sometimes I'd much rather go to than hitting the dance floor at H-Wood....

...and also, since my intervention, I'm not allowed to dance in public anymore.  Or, more accurately, I've been 'shamed' out of it.

I took my sweet baby marzipan cat here after the vet had told me she was rashy from flea bites. She had never been bathed  before... and i knew she musta been harvesting some crazy dirty from all the dust baths she gives herself. so i made an appointment....

I know, weird  right? cats getting groomed?

anyways. took her in... got a call back 2 hours later. picked her up. she  had a little bandana around her neck! my sweet little hipster cat. she still smells like a little blueberry bouquet and seems 100 times happier than before the clean. I definitely reccomend this place as they were  very friendly, and my cat doesnt seem traumatized at all.

to top off the whole experience, i bought marz some super strong canadian cat nip (available at pussy and pooch) as a treat.

I was walking by pussy and pooch today and noticed they were playing techno music outside while a couple of loft dwellers were holding dog treat bags and talking on their patio. Meanwhile, a homeless man was on the sidewalk nearby pissing in a corner.

Just another day downtown, I suppose.

This place is totally cute and has a lot of really great products, but it is a little pricey and the entire concept makes me feel like a douchebag every time I go in there, especially considering the neighborhood. But I guess that's how these things work, right? First the coffee shops, then the lofts, then the pet boutiques, gelato shops, etc.

Regardless of it's social implications, though, I do really like this place, and not just because they're right downstairs from where I live. I like this place because the people are friendly and knowledgeable, they have great pet toys, and they even carry my brand of dog food, which is sometimes hard to find.

Again, they lose a star for the price and the ridiculous/pretentious techno music, but otherwise they are pretty darn great.

Oh, and they're locally owned (as far as I know, I think the owner lives in my building), which makes them way cooler. Support local LA!

This is one of the best pet boutique/grooming spa that I have ever been to and in Downtown no less! After moving Downtown we needed to find a new place to take Belle for her beauty treatments and other treats and came across P&P. She has had several spa days, all of which have been very successful and reasonably priced. I do wish they were open all week for grooming as the appointments on the weekends (Friday-Sunday) do fill up fast. They have a great selection of pet food, toys and accessories and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

we drove by and had to go in. parking is annoying here. it took us a while and we ended up parking in front of a hydrant for a little bit while we peeked inside.

It looks like this place is run by two dudes.  they have a lot of very cute, useful, also expensive stuff.  i was looking at a half sphere crate and asked my bf how much and one of the dudes answered $300 from behind me. i didnt even know he was listening. haha

they have these collars that have crystals on them for around$180.  ouch

i bought a bowtie for my sisters frenchie and the dude was really nice.  he told me i could bring it back for a refund or exchange if it didnt fit.

everything is pretty open.  you can see one of the dogs getting washed and dried inside.

and yes im embarrassed to say the name

My new rescue Pom and I had a WONDERFUL experience here recently. I took her in for the full service groom and was, naturally, a totally nervous new mom. No one at P&P made me feel bad or crazy for that, which is pretty remarkable in my book (no, seriously, I am becoming THAT dog lady). The groomer was sweet and my little girl came out looking and smelling fabulous, even her breath.

The hour I waited, I browsed the store for some essential non-essentials and Lee was SUPER helpful. He complimented me on my food choices and knowledge, which was cool because sometimes salespeople seem actually annoyed by savvy consumers, and also showed me some great products that have become must-haves in our household. I had loads of questions and everyone was very kind.

After the grooming, Jeanine helped me fit Cinder with a harness and custom ordered it in the color I wanted that was out of stock. Apparently I am not the only small dog owner whose pooch's favorite color is pink. Who knew!

I can't wait to go back and pick up my harness so I can check out more cute products and books and pick up some of those freeze dried chicken treats.... um, and ask a bunch of crazy dog lady questions.

I know, I know.

In L.A. and missed coming here?

You missed the BEST pet joint EVER!

The celebutards may not flock here (at least I don't think they do)...but so what? Fifi and Romeo and the lot may be cooool...but Pussy & Pooch is both cool and practical and affordable for all.

The staff was very nice and helpful and I was glad to drop a ton of dough here...I APPRECIATE friendly places...I APPRECIATE a lack of snobbishness APPRECIATE stores that actually bother to put price tags on items...cuz after all I didn't just make $20 Million dollars for my last gig and my last name isn't Cruise.

A nice grooming station in back--clean and very modern--not just a crappy bathtub. Certain days are do-it-yourself, others there is a professional groomer on duty--I'd call ahead to find out which days are which.

Should you be visiting from out of town they can arrange shipping on items...they also have a shopping website.

And for the vistors...should you want to avoid Skid Row keep yourself to the immediate area and don't travel much farther east than the store! Not exactly as bad as you'd think...generally safe in the daytime...but you may be surprised how fast the neighborhood falls off just four or five blocks east of the store.

But be NOT afraid. I found plenty of street parking right in front of the store...so it's all safe and good!

This place is AWESOME!!! They have the friendliest staff, the best service and the coolest stuff for your pooch or pussy :-)
Really!  I had just rescued a siberian husky from the animal shelter and he smelled really bad. I took thim over to Pussy & Pooch immediately to get him all pretty and they made him look GREAT! He smelled like blueberrys and was super excited to me and he KNEW he was looking good.
I don't remember the girl's name that helped us, but she was really good. She was a cute redhead with short hair, sorry that I don't remember her name, but i'm sure you'll meet her if you go.
This place is a little on the pricey side, as far as the accessories go, like collars and leashes and stuff, but it's totally cute stuff that I havent' been able to find anywhere else.
Really worth the money and the drive for me, since I don't live in downtown anymore. I used to, but now I drive into downtown just for this place. Well, this place and to eat at D-Town Burger Bar :-)

Cutest lil store....That I ventured into last week.

The front door was closed when I first approached the store and I seen a dog inside (unleashed) so I wasn't sure if it was cool to just open the door....didn't want ole boy shooting past me into traffic.
I opened the door cautiously...and entered quick.

I have never been in a store of this magnitude.
Everything is so nicely laid out....store is pretty big....but the real bonus...was the very NICE staff...esp. the female that was there on Thur. 12/11/08 about 4:45 or so.

She knew all about the Downtown Art Walk.....and was informing me of different aspects of the event....I appreciated that. She told me about the store...and asked me if I had a dog...and then asked if I was here looking for a X-mas gift for the dog...awwww. She told me to stop by later for wine and cheese (WOW)

They sell Raw Meat, Bones, Stew, Treats....even DOG BEER 8))
They offer a dog BAR~~~~They can dine in....or Take out and they offer meaty organic pet meals (dogs only)

You can bring your dog in and give them a bath.....yourself. A back room offers the service......and prices aren't bad.
The stuff in the store is pricey....but so CUTE and ONE OF A KIND
SOOOO~~~~If you wanna treat your fluff....like the KING or QUEEN that they are.....Bring em on in...you'll LOVE the place

i just wanted to update my post to say that they now offer GROOMING SERVICES! and more importantly, bathing services when you just don't have that extra hour or two in your day but your dog smells like rotten eggs and you don't have the heart to keep him in that state for any longer -- pussy and pooch, you saved my sense of smell!

again, great service. lee (i think the owner? if not, manager? either way, great guy!) helped us out and was seriously the nicest person ever. the store was pretty busy so the fact that he was both super gracious and attentive to us and my pup, fdr, was nothing short of excellent service. it was nice feeling like my dog was being cared for, instead of being just another dog grooming session. they let me know how my dog behaved during his grooming session with a little report card too! bonus. lee, you are the best! my dog came out clean, happy, and smelling lovely. their doggie cologne (sexy beast) is also really great -- it's pretty much the only doggie cologne that doesn't smell like febreze.

it's a tough sell between pussy & pooch and muttropolitan for my dog's grooming needs (the prices at both places are comparably similar for a small/medium dog), but i'll probably end up going to both on a rotational basis because i like supporting nice people.

it's obvious from the adorable displays in the windows that you are entering an upscale pet boutique--before you get in and start looking at the price tags and exclaiming "i'd never pay this for a doggie t-shirt!"  but the shop is a total delight, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

the best part about pussy & pooch is the service ... and the ability to give your giant dog a bath with the benefit of a giant tub and all the shampoos, conditioners and treatments one might require.  you can use as many towels as you need and then get a treat for your furry companion (who is a bit bitter at this point) at the pawbar.  they are also happy to special order your food and will help you in making your selections.

the bottom line is that you aren't meant to feel like you are at PETCO when you go here.  this isn't a pet convenience store ... it's an adorable and cheerful EXPERIENCE.  you will ooh-and-ah at various amusing pet items, love the creative concepts, see lots of other cute animals and leave with the happy feeling that comes from supporting a local downtown business.

Very cute - modern with neon green accents if I recall. It's been a couple of months since I visited (that's how memorable it was). The selection and service were good - nothing I haven't seen before.

The area completely sucks. It's smack dab in downtown. There's no parking. I think this store is perfect for those who live in the neighborhood and perhaps, people who work close by, and that's about it. I have to disagree with my friend, Alex C. (But hey, we agree to disagree and can remain Yelp buddies). I  don't think I'd visit them even if they moved to the Westside. We still have better options.

What a cool little store!  I took my new dog there to find some good doggie food (she was being fed some mass produced garbage in the shelter she was in) and we were overwhelmed with all the goodies they had in there.  The PawBar was really cute, I'll have to have my pup saddle up there one of these days.  They also have a grooming section in the back, so you don't have to mess up your place bathing your dog.

We found what we needed after getting some help from the super friendly staff, and with their recommendations, Nina's a happy dog with a full belly.

The folks working there couldn't have been nicer, giving Nina nice ear scratches, and a little "doggie bag" full of goodies to take home, as part of an adoption package (we went there on her first day of freedom from the pound.)  In that package, we got a nice sampling of different kibbles, some doggie cologne (called "Sexy Beast"), and a sampling of some conditioning rinse for her coat.  Can't say Nina's going to need a shelf in the bathroom all to herself for these types of products in the future, but they're cute and fun to play with in sample trial sizes.

I heard they even have a blueberry facial scrub in the grooming section.  I guess some people can't spoile their dogs too much.  (They must be the ones buying the $700 doggie bed.)

All in all, a really fun store for pets and their humans.  Can't wait to go back!

I really wanted to love this store which has an amazing selection and very friendly staff.  But my first purchase of $150 dog collar was a total disaster.  The collar broke after 2 months of wear and the store refused to exchanged it and instead simply gave me the manufacture's information stating that they "couldn't help on a store lever."  For a product that was this expensive in a store that touts great service I would have expected a lot more.  I would have been completely happy with an exchange of a lesser value OR if the store had simply offered to contact the manufacturer themselves, but to be pawned off was insulting.  In

This is a cute store and very convenient for downtown dwellers and employees.  The staff was friendly and the store was very clean.  Like most boutiques the prices were high, however they carried the dog food brand that I wanted at the same price that it sells for from the manufacturer and other stores I've been to.  They were out of the flavor I wanted, but I decided to try something new [for the dogs].  Hopefully the pups enjoy it!

Pros:  Good place to get the food I need while I'm in the area.

Cons:  Located in a busy section of downtown LA without lots of parking options.

this store is definitely catered more towards dogs than cats.  we took our 2 cats in for full service baths and we were quite disappointed.  we had a much better experience with muttropolitan in little tokyo.

pros:
(1) the soap or shampoo they use smells really nice, very blueberryish.
(2) the kitties look quite fluffy and clean.  they don't appear to have any cuts or injuries.
(3) the store is attractive, modern, and clean.
(4) the woman who took my appointment was friendly and easy to talk to.

cons:
(1) despite the fact that we specifically asked for the sani-trim (cutting down the fur around their butts to prevent dingleberries -- apologies if this is TMI for some, but it's a fact of life for those of us with long haired cats!), it was only performed on one of the cats, and it was not done well.  she still had stray long hairs and the fur was still thick and pretty long.
(2) the employees need customer service/people skills training.  the gentleman who checked my cats in was quite gracious.  after he took each cat out of its carrier to make sure they were healthy, he checked the time and told me they would be ready by 12:15.  i told him we might be back a little later than that, since we had to drive home to get their medical records (required by the store).  he said that it was fine.  when we returned at 1:15 (a full hour after the time when he said the cats would be ready) i was informed by a new guy that they would not be ready for another hour or two.  when i complained about it, the new guy said, "well, weren't you late for your appointment?"

.. uh, seriously?  i was less than ten minutes late for my appointment, and regardless, they estimated the finish time based on the time i actually dropped off my cats, not on my appointment time.  furthermore, it was already one hour past the time when they told me the cats would be ready.  finally, they had my cell phone information available and obviously should have called to let me know they were running late.

tip to pussy and pooch: it's ok to run behind schedule, but do not try to blame it on your customers.

i went outside for two minutes to consult with my double-parked fiance and when i came back, the cats were miraculously ready.  they were still damp, but the employees promised that they had all their services performed already.  (so why did they tell me they needed another hour or two with the cats?..)  i'm guessing they skipped a few of the services that i paid for and figured the cats weren't going to say anything anyway.

The moment I stepped in.. I was overwhelmed! The store brings a pet store to a whole new level. The interior of the place itself was faaaa-buu-louusss.

They have a paw bar ( dog's cafe), where dogs just order what they want and they can eat it in the green grass (fake one) and enjoy their meal. OOHH! not to mention, they also have yogurt for the dogs, which in some way is pretty funny, i think.

As far as the goodies there, they have really cool/hip stuff, toys and super natural, organic, high quality food. It's like saks fifth for the dogs. very interesting concept! Plus, the staff there is V-E-R-Y friendly, they made you feel very ease and welcomed. Lee, is especially superb! You can tell that they actually have interest in your pets.

Now the downside... parking.
Don't bother coming in when it's rush hour cos you will def not find any parking.  The street parking is 9am-4pm only, so after that, you prolly have to go to the $5 flat fee public parking (which is right across the street).

I will definitely come again to check out the self-serving grooming station. Did I tell you that they have cocktail event for pets and the owner in J-Lounge pretty soon? superliciouss.

We are the over-indulging, OCD, neurotic, and anthropomorphizing pug owners that people roll their eyes when they hear about. That being stated, we love this place. Exceptionally clean, great products, and outstanding grooming staff and store staff. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. There's no hassles when I try to get our little guys groomed, they are flexible, and their prices are competitive with other places. Plus, they do tons of events for people and pets in the neighborhood.

What impresses me most about this unique boutique is the great clients it has established.  Whether it's the amazing customer service, very cool products, or hip atmosphere that draws customers, the clients are incredible and every time I attend a Mutt Mingle or swing by the store, I meet fantastic "down-towners".  Pussy & Pooch is a total experience.

Pussy & Pooch is simply amazing. We've gone to 5+ of their events and we absolutely love this place! There's always drinks & snacks for the humans, plus freebies & snacks for the puppawoofers. Our two chihuahuas get very excited whenever we say "wanna go to Pussy & Pooch?". It's one of the fav. places to go!

So, here's the thing....

Maybe I just like saying the word "Pussy".............

Pussy and Pooch is a fantastic dog store that happens to be located on the ground floor of my building, I defiantly cant complain about the convince factor. Really, PP is what Downtown pet owners have been waiting for(besides a grocery store, but we just got that too....), if I'm walking my Mini Schnauzer Manolo and run out of potty bags I hit the store, if I realized I've fed him his last scoop of dog food, I hit the store, if I want to wax philosophical about ridiculous crazy dog beds and schmancy cat habitats, I hit the store.

Having PP so close is fantastic, I feared when the store first opened that it would wind up being snob central, I am proud to report the staff, the owners and the people who grace PP are all kick back and down to earth, on top of the chill factor everyone at PP is super knowledgeable. If you need a pet sitter or a dog walker you can walk into the store and they'll help you find someone to fill your needs.

They also have the super swanky Paw Bar, which is where your pet can sit down and have his/her own restaurant dining experience. They also have a self service washing area, and if your nice and ask Jamie she'll help you wash your dog with all manner of fancy practically edible shampoos and masks.

What I like even more is that PP reaches out to the community, there is an art gallery in the back where they showcase different downtown talent, they set up vet clinics, and even dating nights for pet owners(a bit far fetched for me, but it might be your thang). PP is definitely a place to take your pet for a little TLC.

My puppy Jackson and I are regulars here. It's just a few blocks away from our apartment in downtown, so when I take Jackson on a walk, we go here often. I don't always end up making purchases here, but the staff is really friendly and welcoming. The prices here are very reasonable. They have a monthly doggie event every last Tuesday of the month called Mutt Mingle. It's a perfect opportunity to have your dog socialize with other dogs.. not to mention it's a nice way to meet other dog owners over free drinks and snacks.

This place is amazing! Everything you could have ever dreamed of to pamper your dog or cat. We walked in and were greeted by the owner and designer of the place. They gave us a tour and their dog showed us how dogs use the fake grass area in the self clean section.

The pawbar is crazy! Dog beer!!!! When I tell people about this they automatically are interested and want to go.

I love their  selection of beds, food bowls and treats. The beds and food bowls, though a little pricey, fit perfectly with the modern design of lofts downtown.

P&P also have local gatherings for dogs and pet owners to meet. This definitely will be a place we visit frequently.

My boyfriend I love Pussy & Pooch so much that we frequently drive over from the Westside. The staff is SO friendly and helpful. Product prices may seem high, but it's a boutique not a discount pet supply store. The prices on the self serve baths are extremely reasonable (I think my little guy is $12). Every time we're there, they probably give him $12 in free treats. They often even have human treats such as fruit or cheese plates out. Absolutely love this place.

Of course it's over the top.  I mean, they have oatmeal facials and dog beer!  It could be a disaster - style over substance - instead, it's a huge success.  Most of their products are utilitarian and stylish.  They carry the high-quality foods Buddy eats.  The self-serve dog wash is clean and inviting with a huge stack of towels and lots of fancy shampoo.  I was a little tempted to strip down myself.

The food served at the "paw bar" looks like it was prepared by Anthony Bourdain.  Buddy loved his raw beef sushi rolls, then again I did have to pry from his jaws a half-eaten McDonald's cheese burger he picked up off the sidewalk the other day.  Yes, spoiling one's dog is really about spoiling oneself.

The owners are wonderful - super friendly and committed to making the P&P the social hub of pet owners in downtown.

What a totally hip cool dog/cat store.  I drove to downtown from Long Beach just to check it out.  Was very much worth the trip.  Parking was not an issue at all.  The two men that were working that day were super cool and friendly.  They helped me pick out some cat food and this really cool cat lounger (it's for scratching).  LOVED IT!!

Picked up a really cool collar for my pooch and cool stuff for my pussycat.  I could have stayed there much longer but we had to go.  They have social events where dogs are welcome to come along as well.  They cater a lot to the downtown loft dwellers, but they made me feel right at home.  Great place for your pet.  You'll find things you won't find anywhere else.  Blows away the boring pet boutiques in the O.C...for sure!!!

I had the happy occasion to check out Pussy and Pooch for dog supplies.

Great customer service! Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Did I mention they were ACTUALLY nice? I'm a sucker for a nice retail experience, I tell you.

Quality selection of food, for sure.

I got my Miniature Pinscher a bag of nearly all protein gnarly ass dog food...no filler, that's right.
He loves it (my little carnivore!!).
And just for good measure, a little bag of some Dick Van Patton veggie stuff.

I couldn't find a Kong to replace the one Cougar destroyed but that could be me...I came for food and the Kong was an afterthought.

I broke down and bought two tee shirts...oh, the shame I feel burning in my cheeks when I admit this.
I bought him the "Security" tee shirt (he's a biter, he's a rescue, but we're working on his bad behavior. See my review of "Walk Fido") and I bought him the "Bitches Love Me" tee because they do and it would be wrong to lie about it.

Apparently they have speed dating for dog people...that's hysterical.

I love this wacky fancy place!!

Who doesn't love in GIANT letters at the corner of Main and 6th the words "Pussy" and "Pooch"

I'll be back, for sure!
