I love Purevana, and have recommended it to many who live in Marin. I have being going to Tess since she was in my neighborhood in San Anselmo, and now I make the trek to Mill Valley b/c my skin partner is there. I was not blessed with great skin - thick, clogged and ashen. I put my face in Tess's hands, and have been so pleased with the results. I won't say that there is any magic involved - just a spirit of educated trial and error. I have brought in a bag full of junk and gunk from others and had Tess help me sort through it, and (yes, I need this kind of thing) even label what time of day to use it.
I love one of the lines they carry - Rhonda Allison - and have tossed out Obagi in favor of these products.
Finally, Tess. A down-to-Earth, working Mom who so GETS it. Mellow, funny, and both tough (on extractions) and gifted (on massage). -

Just had my first facial in over 10 years, and I am so happy I picked this spot! Darcie is such a sweetheart, truly caring and gifted. I loved how the experience didn't feel rushed. She took her time with everything and explained the whole process to me. I have my next appointment in March to help prep my skin to be glowing before the big wedding day.

I was already in love with Purevana after my first visit and now I'm a loyal client for life. I went in recently for the bridal facial with Darcie (my skincare angel). I also got the Vitamin A peel to intensify the treatment. This 'gentle' peel didn't sting at all and it seriously works. My face seriously glowed with happiness. These gals take such good care of me and Darcie even sent me home with a few samples to soothe my skin.
They also offer a mini-facial to address last-minute concerns a week before your wedding. I got this treatment and my skin was completely blemish-free for the big day, and I got tips for maintaining a great complexion on the honeymoon. Yippee!1 Previous Review: Show all »

A friend referred me to Tess when I still lived in Marin. Now I'm hooked, and although I live in SF I haul my cookies all the way to the hub to get these voodoo magic facials.
This is no place for modesty, ladies (and gentlemen!) so this review is totally candid and honest. It's also kind of long, but I think detail is important for this kind of review.
My raging hormones might make me a fun girl to know, but on occasion I still get some nasty break outs, even at my age (about to move out of the 18-34 group.)
Since my late teens I struggled to find a "cure" for my dry, sensitive, fair complexion. I have invisible pores, which is nice unless they're clogged, and the dryness only exacerbates the problem. Retina and even most acids deeply aggravate my skin. I was losing faith.
I tried all manner of expensive department store and Sephora, Bliss, et al creams - and some do have their place for at home maintenance.
But nothing can substitute the regular upkeep that a truly gifted esthetician can provide. Enter Tess.
Yesterday I came to her looking like I had been attacked by killer bees. Today I would go on a blind date with confidence. She is amazing.
I buy my cleanser, hyaluronic acid, moisturizer and masks from her, and love them all. If anything doesn't work out she takes it back - no questions asked, no attitude.
As for Tess herself - she is a genuine, kind and gracious lady.
I recommend her highly to anyone and everyone.

What a beautiful salon! Val did my waxing and it was great. I usually wait too long between waxes and it makes for a painful experience but Val is kinda magic. She made it easy and I was barely red afterwards. I'm hooked and will be back next month!

Thank the goddesses for Purevana! I really wish I could give more than 5 stars here. I just got home from my facial and my skin feels (and looks) so fantastic. Walking into Purevana, it is like a big girls's candyshop if you love the best conscious skin products ever! Everything Valerie uses smells amazing. I recommend Purevana to anyone who wants to give their skin a very special treat and receive a whole lot of love and nurturing!

I have been seeing Tess for many years. I always look forward to seeing her and having one of her facials. I have recommended her to all of my friends and family.
Tess is very accommodating to your schedule and she has fabulous products. My skin has never looked better and my boyfriend is always trying to steal my pumpkin facial wash.
I love that she does not push products the way so many larger day spas do. Her products speak for themselves and do not need to be pushed. -

I love this place. It is beautiful and clean. Kat and Valerie are wonderful and professional. I love the work that Valerie does on my skin and brows. Like the other reviewer said it does take a while to get an appointment but that is because they are so good at what they do. Well worth the wait! So glad I found them. :)

I've been going to Tess for more than 6 years. I first went to her when she was at Stellar and then followed her to her own practice in San Anselmo because nobody could do the job like she could. She's fantastic! Besides the fact that about 90% of the time I fall asleep because it's so relaxing, my skin has that shine after her facials. It's a very low key environment so it's not the big, "spa" experience that Stellar has. It's a place for relaxing and getting good results.

I got a fantastic brow waxing here. Valerie, the owner did a clean, stylish line. I'm picky, and I love them! I've also had a wonderful refresher facial with Daria. Everything smelled like berries and chocolate. Its worth stopping by to shop the natural makeup and skin treatment stuff. Overall, a very fun place.
