So, I have an hour or two to spare between classes. What to do? Get a manicure, of course!
It's close to my apartment, but looks a little sketchy from the outside (i.e. big, flashing neon signs), and the name is a little cheese-ball. It's beautiful inside, however, and doesn't smell like chemicals, like most salons.
Great manicure, only fifteen dollars. It didn't chip for 4 days, which is a long time for me. Lots of color selections, too. The manicurists were considerate, quick, and efficient, and we were out of there within 20 minutes.
I also liked how the manicurist explained the difference between round and square nails (because I never get manicures), and showed me each before starting to file.
I was a little uncomfortable, though, because the manicurists kept asking me how much everything I was wearing and using (my wallet, ballet school, my shoes, the pen I was using). Not a big deal, but I was never one to talk about money.
Anyway, I definitely recommend going here.
Lovely! I popped in for a brow wax ($12) and polish change ($10) one afternoon and was really happy with the service and space. They have the same BYO offer as many other establishments, and their prices are right on with them as well.
The waxing room is separate from the mani/pedi room and the lady I had was quick and good - and asked me if I liked them before the final touches (something so many places don't do).
They also have a store card that buys you money off a service after so many visits (or money spent, I forget which) so that's excellent. I will be very happy to return in a weeks' time for the mani/pedi/BYO special. I'll keep you posted.
I love going to Pure Rain. The salon offers a relaxing environment, professional service, and my nails are always flawless and long lasting. I never feel rushed and the location is convenient for me to stop by on the way home from work and take advantage of the $35 mani/pedi special. The benches look like they are uncomfortable but I love it and enjoy watching Sex and the City, Pretty Woman, or whatever chick flicks/shows are being played. The only thing I don't like is the location of the dryers and the table, otherwise I would give 5 stars. Very uncomfortable and in the afternoon the sun is shining right on you.
My sister lives in Chicago and we wanted to do something nice for her birthday. I myself do not live there, and wanted to find a clean, reasonably priced nail salon. I think we hit the jackpot. My sister had nothing but nice things to say about the experience. She doesn't get regular pedicures or manicures, so this was an extra special treat. I hope to try the place out next time I visit.
Pure Rain Nail Spa has been advertising this $35 mani-pedi special now for quite some time (its available everyday of the week) and I have to say for the cost, its the best quality nail-job I've had in the city. I almost don't want to write this review because I don't want them to get too busy! They do a really quality job which can't be said for many of the other "cheapies" I've visited.
Highlights for me:
*Comfortable chairs & high quality pedicure stations (no rolling massage chairs here!)
*Big plasma TV shows girlie flicks like "Sex & the City"
*The staff is friendly and professional
*Great magazine selection
*Good location just outside the hub bub of the Loop.

I was impressed with my mani-pedi at Pure Rain. The newer nail spa doesn't look like much from the… Read more »
This particular spa gets high marks from me, because the ladies weren't scared of my ticklish, kicky feet. In fact, I didn't get squirmy and giggly until the end. Impeccable job on the polish as well.
Like a previous reviewer, I too was treated to the Sex and the City movie while I got one of the most relaxing pedi's ever, in a clean, well-decorated environment. As far as the manicure went, I stupidly bumped one of my nails against a counter and screwed up my nail polish. Liz offered to fix the whole thing, but I told her a touch up would be fine. You can't even tell I messed it up at all!
The last thing that makes this salon worthwhile in my book was that they did not try to push additional services on me. Any time I've gone for a similar treatment at a different salon, they're trying to talk me into getting my eyebrows waxed. But not here. And I really appreciated that.
The $35 mani pedi special runs through the end of April, so go there soon!
They're close to my office, too, which is an added bonus.
Best Mani-Pedi ever !!!!! Just heavenly !!!!
A friend recommended this place and they were having a $35 special for Mani-Pedi, I thought I'll give it a try.
I could just float and fall asleep during my pedicure, she was soooo good.
Beautiful Manicure, again the massage was amazing.
It's been almost two weeks, my nails are still perfect.
Nice room, I was amazed by how removed I felt from the craziness outside, even though it is on a very busy street and right next a dunkin donuts.
Love the owner Liz, very sweet and very attentive staff.
I would go back and I would highly recommend it !
There's valet parking right across the street for $10.
This was heading towards being a 4, maybe 5 star experience but wasn't. I'm hoping to come back in the future and upgrade, but not if today's experience was repeated.
I had an 11 AM appointment. I walked in, on time, just after another girl (I don't know if she had an appt). She was immediately started on - it took them 5 minutes just to notice me. All of the technicians were busy, so someone started some water for me and I soaked an extra 10 minutes. That's not such a problem. The pedicure was great. On to the manicure... In the middle of my manicure (and at the end of hers) the girl at the table next to me asks if she can get her eyebrows waxed right now. So my manicurist GOT UP AND LEFT ME SOAKING MY HANDS FOR 15 MINUTES while she waxed this girl's eyebrows. Excuse me?? Shouldn't she have been the one who had to wait? The rest of the experience was ok, but that left a bad bad taste. The manicurist didn't even apologize.
Anyway, my nails look great and it should have been a good experience. I'm sure I'll give it another shot, but for today, I was pretty frustrated with the whole thing.
AMAZING!!! I love this place becuase it was beautifully decorated and they take their time. The pedi/mani took about an hour and 15 mins and I loved every minute of it. The place seems very sanitary and the polish goes on smooth and lasts a long time.
The very relaxing environment is a plus and the great movies.
I decided to splurge and got brow wax and mini massage...I never felt so fabu!!! A must try at least once., but bring enough change for the meter.
Ahhhh this place is awesome! I was really excited to find it on Yelp.
I got a Mani-Pedi for $35!!! THAT'S RIGHT YOU HEARD ME.
The ladies are uber friendly and the salon itself is just soo cute and relaxing! The massages are amazing and the paint jobs were even better, it's been two weeks and my toes still look impeccable.
Go go go!!
It looks weird/cheesy on the outside and the name might throw you off but trust me- it's the best nail salon in the South Loop.
Very relaxing space, and the pedicure bench thing is much more comfortable than those big chair massage things.
I loved being able too watch a movie, and not being rushed.
The $35 mani-pedi special is still going, and you can't beat that price downtown!
I have been living in the south loop for almost 8 years and I have been waiting for a quality nail salon to open up. Pure Rain surpasses all of the nail salons that I have frequented all of these years.
The decor is simple yet elegant. The owner put a lot of time and thought into the interior design. For example, there is a striking custom bench that makes up the pedicure spa. The facilities are very clean and their instruments and basins are sterilized and disinfected with care. The best part of the experience was the level of professionalism and quality of the technicians that work there. They are perfectionist and they make sure that your nails are flawless.
I took advantage of the $35 grand opening special (mani-pedi) but I will be back for services in the future without the special price because of the obvious high standard of service that this salon upholds.
Pure Rain Nail Spa is wonderful - the best mani/pedi I've had. The service was impeccable and it was a very fun experience - they played sex and the city on the TVs!
Pure Rain Nail Spa is Fabulous. I went on a Friday evening at 6:30 with my 9-year old daughter for a mother daughter pampering night. The staff was so super sweet to us both and did top notch work on our mani/pedis. I look forward to returning and would recommend Pure Rain for anyone looking for a relaxing and high quality experience.
I truly love this place...my manis last a week, they barely chip! I really love how nice and sweet everyone is that works there. I also needed my brows done badly the other day and wah-lah. Done in a jiffy and looking great. I'm so happy this place came to the area!! :)

Anyone who knows me knows that I am always on the look out for a good deal when it comes to anything, but this place is much better than just a good deal. It is the quality of a luxury salon without out the stuffy attitude. The great experience started with making the appointment to come in. The owner, who I think goes by liz, was very helpful in suggesting a time to come in, and before finalizing the time suggested that my friend and I could bring wine or cocktails to have during the process. Now if you really know me then you know I'm sold right here as a client for life. Regardless of price I don't know why I can't find spas in the city that offer or even suggests this. The next topper, when getting set up for the pedicure, Liz asked me if I wanted a magazine, the tv on or even a movie, before I even processed the though of the movie she suggested Sex and the City... done. What more can a girl ask for, a glass of wine, her friends, Sex and the City and a Mani-Pedi all at the same time, now that is my idea of heaven! The mani-pedi was done to perfection and the welcoming friendly atmosphere was great. Can't wait to go back!
Prefect place to go on your lunch hour to relax and unwind. I was very happy with my manicure and they use a great salon quality polish. I will go there from now on!
