Delicious, friendly staff -- my top pick for Boulder then Efrains then Taco El Ray.  Haven't found anything better since moving here.

I am so grateful my neighbor enlightened me about Pupusa's arrival in our neighborhood.

I've loved it since my first visit.

Primarily a Salvadoran restaurant, the featured menu item here is... you guessed...the Pupusa.  There are many kinds including FIDDLEHEAD FERN.  Can you imagine?  Haven't tried it but one of my friends did and didn't complain so I assume it was good.

Fresh salsa bar ... mighty nice!

Everything on the menu is good.  You just can't go wrong here and the prices are so reasonable.  The soups ... impressive looking but haven't tried them yet.  I enjoy the Pupusas, the enchiladas, the burritos, anything on the breakfast menu which is served all day--it's all good!!

This place is tiny and expands seating capacity in the warmer weather when the outdoor parking lot patio can be utilized.

For me the tininess adds to the charm, as does the personal and caring service.

For me the funkiness of the center it's in further adds to the charm, as the funkiness of N. Boulder appeals to me far more than all the mixed-use yuppie-ish chaotic stuff going on over on the other side of Broadway.

Magnificent desserts here too so save room...and diabetics, try a bite and increase  your Metformin dose for the day.  :)

OMG. I've gone to melt-in-your-mouth, cheesy, Latin American heaven and it's called Pupusas.  Nevermind the outside, these people are into the serious business of good food.  Nothing fancy but oh-so-delicious. I like the tamales especially.  The sauce is not to bland, not too spicy and the tamales just melt in your mouth.  Oh yeah, the pupusas are good too but I 'm more into the other stuff.

This is the real deal served up by nice people that really care about the food.

I love to eat in Mexico and will routinely overdose on tacos from the little vendors with carts or located on the front porch of a house on a busy street.  The tacos at Pupusas are worthy of this tradition.

On a recent visit my friend and I shared a plate of tamales that were moist and tender without being greasy.  The chicken, potato, and green bean filling was unique mild and flavorful.

The little salsa bar is also just right and very authentic.

Thankfully they have gone to table service.  When they originally opened you ordered at the counter and then fought your way to a table battling off new arrivals as you went.

Be sure to talk to the little skinny guy with the small mustache who owns the joint.  He loves to talk about his food and business.

Pupusas may be as plain as Jane, and its strip mall location in north Boulder is hardly charming, but the food provides a delicious introduction to the cuisine of El Salvador, with a handful of Mexican standbys thrown in for the less adventurous.

The fabulous pupusas -- corn tortillas stuffed with frijoles, queso, zucchini, roasted Anaheim chiles, or fiddlehead ferns -- are nothing short of amazing. So, too are the salsas, all of which are piquant. You'll get major punch for your peso with extra coinage to splurge on the housemade chocolate flan.
