I used to come here for lunch at least once a week. I've really fallen off the wagon...

The lunch buffet is delicious and makes you all warm and happy inside. The dishes change somewhat depending on the day, but I've never had anything I didn't like, and most things I end up loving. By the time you sit down with your plate of food you will be brought a large basket of super fresh, hot, fluffy naan. Use it to scoop up your deliciousness.

If you aren't super hungry, (or you have to get back to work/school,) you can get a to go container that fills enough food for me to eat for two meals. :)

This placed changed the management and name to Punjabi Palace.

Outside looks unfriendly and interior needs a remodeling.
We were basically the only ones eating.

Food was just okay. About 10 dishes presented.

This place is more for catering.

We hadn't eaten all day and my friend and I were looking to try a new place.  Punjabi Kabab House really satisfied my Indian food fix. You don't come here for the atmosphere but only to stuff your belly full with a variety of curries, stews, basmati rice, nan and more. The lunch buffet was only $6.50 so you're sure to get your moneys worth. Points also go towards the attentive and friendly staff. The server kept our water glasses full and the lady behind the counter even made fresh hot Nan for us, which I used to blissfully sop up my plate.
This place is a great find not far from home.

OK... I take the bus everyday into the city from the stop right across from this joint for the PAST 1 YEAR !!!!!

from outside this place looks uninviting, always reminds me of  some shady restaurants back home in delhi where only businessmen frequented at late hours.

Oh well this past sunday coming back from LI , we realized we had no dinner made, craving indian food, i suggested punjabi kabab house, immediately Pam responded ok but she was gonna wait outside and take carry out, she did not wanna go inside

I entered, the place was kinda full, with kids running around and had families eating dinner.... i ordered, goat biryani, seekh kabaab and ginger chicken kabab w/ Laccha parantha and Onion Kulcha...

the kababs were very tender and the seasoning was just right, reminded me of Darvesh in delhi.

Hmmm the biryani was just perfect, took me back to tanveer's mom's biryani, it was very good.

the naan and the kulcha were ok, i guess you have to eat em right away as we took carry out.

the lady behind the counter was very busy takin orders. but the 2 minutes she gave me were very sweet, the order took 45 minutes as she 8 more carry out orders infront of me, well worht it though imo.

The dinner was very reasonable, infact when i came back to pick up the food, the place was full. total dinner cost  $25, that is 3 entrees and 2 naans

they also have a lunch buffet for $6 which i will try out next time... thank God, I found the best indian food in the entire city right in my backyard...

I could definitely see why the other Yelpers said the exterior was uninviting.  It's next to a catering hall the seems abandoned and on the other side is a gas station.  We went for the lunch buffet.  I have to say that when I first walked in I wanted to turn around and walk out, but since I had my hungry kids with me, we decided to give it a try.  We were seated right away and when I approached the buffet the waiter asked me if I could wait five minutes as all of the chafing dishes were about to be refilled.  We waited closer to 10 minutes but I appreciated having fresh food.

The food was very very tasty.  It tasted more like homemade Punjabi food than what you usually get in restaurants, which by the way, is much better!!!  They didn't have a lot of vegetable selections... they had rice, dal makhani, kadhi pakora and a mixed vegetable curry made from frozen veggies ... the meat dishes were chicken makhani, goat curry, tandoori chicken and tave chicken. We had some of everything except the mixed veggies.  Everything was delicious.  We even ordered a dish off the menu because my kids wanted it paneer.  They got the bhurjia which was almost as good as mine.  Naan was brought out hot and fresh to our table and refilled as needed.

I think with the quality of food they provide as well as the attentive service, if they were to improve their interior and exterior appearance they would definitely attract more customers.

I've been to Punjabi Kabab House at least 10 times and have tried a variety of items from the dinner and all you can eat lunch menu. So far i have been quite happy and impressed . I'd say Punjabi Kabab house can go toe to toe with some of the better places I've been to in Jackson Heights and Manhattan when it comes to staple dishes.

Although the place can seem a tad uninviting from its exterior,  the staff has always been very friendly. The place is usually packed on weekends and evenings with Indian locals - which also speaks a great deal about quality and authenticity to me since there are quite a few  Indian restaurants to choose from in the vicinity. If you require nice or better than average decor then stick with the pricier spots in J.H or Manhattan .

5 stars for the food and bang for the buck.

See the other reviews under Punjabi Kebab House!

Not a pretty physical space but awesome food, nice people, good prices, decent portions.

    My favorites here:

    Chicken Saag
    Chicken Kebab
    Navratan Korma
    Aloo Ghobi
Raita - maybe the best anywhere!
    Chat Papdi
    Veg. Biryani
    Chicken Jalfrezi
Baingan Bhartha (not on the menu IIRC but can be ordered)

Lunch buffet is very good value at $6.50 incl. tax as of March 2010, you can splurge and add on a beer for another $3.50.

Great Indian food at decent prices. Better than anything you'll find in Jackson Heights. Decor is totally nonexistent but you come here for the food. Also they serve beer but I've seen people BYO liquor here.

This restaurant was really good. My boyfriend and I both had the Chicken Tikka Masala with Nan bread and we were raving about how delicious it was. We called in the order because the previous review made us hestiant on the location but it was nothing like what I expected. The staff was polite and the food was waiting for us when we arrived. We have found a new place to eat!
