New favorite store!
Random toys, t-shirts, reusable grocery bags, greeting cards, and other novelties rule at Pumpkin Moon. It's like Uncle Fun on steroids, with higher quality merchandise.
What else can I stay? I want to own everything in here. The front window display speaks for itself.
Nostalgic shop of pure FUN- I couldn't get over all of the "vintage" toys and games. It is like revisiting your childhood. Great place to find quality toys for kids on your list or something for yourself to nurture your inner child. Unique gift items and great candy selection too.
Downtown Oak Park is a cool place to wander--when you are there, definitely check out Pumpkin Moon!
Awesome gift shop. They have old school toys, shirts and gear. Hilarious cards. Just a pretty dope little shop everyone should check out.
You work in a TOY store! Smile and have some fun! And... maybe engage with your customers a bit.
I may be 28 and not have a need for many of the things in here, but I DO have a 5 year old nephew that I tend to dote on. And I have no problem buying him things that I would secretly love to play with. The lack of service here prohibited me from reaching for my wallet.
Cute store. Great toys, retro and new.
Standoffish staff.
So much fun.
For ten years this is where I shopped for my husband's birthday and Christmas gift. He grew up on comics and cartoons so along with his very adult cigar I wrapped a comic t-shirt from Pumpkin Moon. Before heading for the t-shirts I always perused the shelves and smiled as I remembered Popeye, Betty Boop, blue tongue turning gum, soap tasting gum and Felix the Cat. There are lunch boxes, clocks, tattoos, postcards, calendars, watches, rings, posters and magnets.
We're now separated, my husband and I. His birthday is coming up and though he didn't get me anything for mine, I'm thinking I'm going to have to go to Pumpkin Moon for him. I need a new Betty Boop key chain after all.
You will not be bored, you will not leave without smiling, you will find that someone you love a funny and memorable gift.
Ever go on a walk around a cute little town and think, "if only I had a pocketful of miniature rubber chickens and a pencil topper shaped like a water weenie"? Well listen buster, you better start to move your feet to the rockinist, rocksteady beat of Pumpkin Moon.
I picked up a St Andrew: Patron Saint of Bacon figurine and a cool tattoo flash-themed bag. If you're into Uncle Fun and Archie McPhee, they have the same stuff. They also have odd birthday cards for odd senses of humor, fake vomit, various types of rubber ducks, Star Wars bobbleheads, 50s pinup magnets... I could go on.
You can mingle with FL Wright tourist groups, the stroller brigade and the occasional visiting family. Amongst the craft stores, art galleries and frou frou shops, it might be the only thing in Oak Park that doesn't take itself so seriously.
I do love this store, they have cute knick-knacks. But the employee have no sense of humor I will agree with Kelly S. Very dry humored set of employees working. You do work in a toy store shouldn't you be a little ALIVE rather than slouchy an greet the people who walk in the store.
All I can say is that any store that sells a wind-up sushi toy is a hit in my book.
Just as good as Archie McPhee's in Seattle, minus the junky-junky stuff...
(well, maybe...I've never seen a bacon wallet @ Pumpkin Moon...).
The kid in me loves this store. Who wouldn't? It is chock full of gag gifts, retro toys, wind up toys, bouncing balls, tattoo flash, iconic figures, candy, t-shirts, crafts, games, etc and accessories. It's not just for kids, they have tons of products for grown ups too! I am as gleeful as my 3 year old in here! You can spoil your child rotten in here and it will cost you next to nothing. I will definitely be shopping here for stocking stuffers!
Fun store located in the heart of the "Peoples Republic" of Oak Park.
A left winger global warming for the heart!! You don't have to be a leftist-loon to enjoy this store! The also except Euros!!
This is a fun little toy and gag shop, my husband called it "clean Uncle Fun." I kind of like digging through dusty drawers to find weird stuff at Uncle Fun and the lady screaming on her cell phone in the store about everything she saw "Oh, there's a George Bush air freshener! Oh wait, do you need any rubber chickens? What about bacon band aids?" kind of sucked... so Uncle Fun still wins. But if you're in Oak Park you'll probably get bored and need to stop in for a wind up robot or something just to keep from killing yourself.
Toys, gifts, Archie McPhee-type novelty stuff, but overall, nothing you can't find at Uncle Fun. Of course, that's on the other side of town, so if you're in Frank Lloyd Wright country and have a need for a gag gift, this may be the perfect place for you.
This should almost get 5 stars. If there isn't something in this store you don't audibly guffaw at, your sense of humor is broken. Patronize this store!!! It is awesome!!! Great for stocking stuffers!!! Great for kids of all ages.
I go here for gifts all the time. Bacon vs. Tofu action figure set was perfect for my brother-in-law, the usually vegetarian. Burning (George) Bush fire starter was perfect for my dad. Myriad funny car air fresheners have been bought for all my friends. Cat Butt coasters for the pastor who married us (she loved my Cat Butt bag I brought to the wedding, so I sent her the coasters for Christmas). This place is a great mix of kids' stuff and kids-at-heart stuff.
The owners are awesome, the selection is every changing and great, the prices aren't really bad for what the items are. I dig this place time and time again. Great store!
Pumpkin Moon used to be more unique when they first moved into this spot. Now, there are a lot of items inside that you can find elsewhere - but not within the immediate area, so it is still worth a trip. The place is a bit small, creating a lot of traffic jams amongst patrons, but the toys and gadgets put people in a good mood, so it is an overall positive experience.
If you love toys or you're a collector, this store will be your nirvana (not the band, the place :) I could easily spend $1,000 here. You'll find classic toys like bobble heads, lunch boxes, wind up dolls, everything from the Stooges, Beatles, Betty Boop, whatever you're looking for, you can pretty much find at Pumpkin Moon. I have to hide the credit card before I go back othewise I'll be in BIG trouble!
Great place to by unique gifts for all ages. This store is one of Oak Park's hidden secrets. It's located just right outside Oak Park's main downtown street, on North Blvd. Very unique items that you can not find at other retailers. They have "knick-knacks" and toys for the little kiddies, and have retro style figurines for the adults too (i.e. Elvis, Beatles, I love Lucy kind of things). I have even bought retro 80's type of t-shirts for myself and as gifts. I highly recommend for anyone who plans to visit Oak Park to stop in Pumpkin Moon for some fun shopping.
This store is too much fun!
What a cool place!Lots of stuff that I remember as a kid and the funniest cards you ever saw!Great place to go for gag gifts for "Over-the-Hill" birthdays and Bachelorette parties.
yay, pumpkin moon is fun! even if you aren't shopping for anything or anyone in particular, you can wander in here and will most likely will buy something. every time i go in there i think "oh i MUST get this for ____" and "ooh look at this!". silly buttons, some retro stuff, just lots of goofy stuff and i could easily spend at least an hour in there just wandering around. its definitely tight quarters in there though so i can't take my kids (double-stroller) in there for another few years or so when i can trust they won't trash the place!
This a good place to shop for goofy/geeky novelty items, somewhat similar to Uncle Fun, except a bit smaller & they don't seem to match the ample selection of ever-changing pop-culture memorabilia that keeps me coming back to Uncle Fun. It's worthwhile to stop in & browse if you are in the Oak Park area & looking for a fun/gag gift.
Super Fun. Bush punching bags, trick gum, dirty buttons, political tees, Not where I get my fab looks, but an awesome store!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a very cool little shop loaded with toys, gift and gag items. Some of their stuff will take you back to your childhood, because it's now considered retro. Most of the prices are decent, but some items were overpriced. I was happy to bring home a few items and will hopefully go back and spend more time and money there.
I could spend quite awhile in this store just looking at all the random items they have. However, instead of just browsing I was there shopping for stocking-stuffer type gifts for family of all ages. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for (some of the items seemed very overpriced) but I did find a few fun items that kept my family entertained during a post-holiday celebration brunch.
