I recently hosted a mix-aged party for my two children (6 and 9 year old) and 20+ friends. This was my first party that I have ever thrown. The children AND adults had the GREATEST TIME!!! Everyone participated and we were able to play our own music from my iPod.
I had expected less than 10 kids to show because their parents RSVP. However, on the day of the party, when we got there, OMG, I was in shock! There were over 20+ kids that showed up. I was freaking out because I wasn't prepared for that many kids. I was planning on serving ONLY cake, ice cream and milk (you weren't charged for these).
As the children and parents entered the first jumper area the Staff and I met out front. The Staff and I coordinated a plan to accommodate the unexpected. The Staff was exceptional!!! They listened and were aware of what had occurred and assured me that they can handle any changes or adjustment in the limited amount of time. 1st was the food, it was cancelled the day prior, however, they were able to get the order in and delivered in time to serve the guests. 2nd was pricing, I had a budget and was worried of exceeding that budget, and yet, they accommodate that budget! I was NOT CHARGED extra for anything! They were beyond reasonable and my total at the end of the party was LESS than what I had expected.
This is an amazing place to throw a party. All the STAFF are wonderful at accommodating any request that you may have. They alleviate the additional stress so that YOU yourself can enjoy the party with your children and all your friends.
This is a really fun place, but man, they know how to nickel and dime you if you are not prepared. We arranged a party here for our daughter's tenth birthday. Things went mostly smoothly. Our party had two activity rooms with six jumper rigs. The staff was on top of it and everything here was organized. This was all really a ton of fun for not just the kids at the party but also the adults--such as myself--who decided to join in the fun.
You can't go on to the inflatables with shoes or with bare feet. If you don't have socks, they'll sell you a pair for $2. Batteries for my digital camera were $6. They've got all the little extras you didn't think about beforehand or didn't bring, but you're gonna have to pay for it.
The part I really didn't like all that much was the smell of the party room. It smelled strongly of spoiled food and was almost overpowering when we first walked in. We were able to trace the smell to a $30 veggie tray we ordered from them (you can't bring your own in). The veggies appeared not to be rotten, but they sure smelled like they were. After a while, you got used to the smell and enjoyed the party, but that scent lingered in my nose for a while.
Other people seem to have had great parties here and I don't want to pick on these guys too much. Overall, they did a great job in spite of the annoyances. Would I recommend this place? Yes, the staff here knows how to put on a GREAT time and and I have no complaints about the actual procedure they have. But remember, these guys will try to get as much $$$ from you and your guests as they can fairly get. 2 liter sodas are $2.50 a bottle (and you can't bring your own), and goodie bags are $3-$4. 12 balloons are $12. It's not outrageously expensive, but it is a few dollars here and a few dollars there, and that adds up. If you do all the favors and paraphernalia by yourself and bring them, you will be able to minimize cost.
On the other hand, if money is no object, then go for the works and Pump it Up will deliver a great time for your money.
I've been here on two occasions about a year apart for younger cousins' 17th birthday parties. No, you didn't read that wrong... I said 17th birthday parties. Both parties were on Sunday nights so there were no bratty kids to deal with. I guess since we were an older group, the staff pretty much left us to ourselves in the bounce rooms and let us play our own music off an ipod.
There are two bounce rooms. The first has an obstacle course, a slide and a basketball court. I like the second room better. The slide there is bigger, and the obstacle course is better. It smells a little, but is surprisingly clean considering the number of sweaty kids that use the equipment on a daily basis.
I had a blast reliving the fun I used to have at the Discovery Zone as a kid. I definitely don't have the stamina anymore to jump around for longer than 3 minutes at a time though.
A great place to have a party! We've done two parties there and trust me when I say they have the system down! Great service, friendly party assistant and they took care of everything - just show up with kids and your cake (don't forget a knife to cut it) and you're set.
Kids love it!
My kids who are 1 and 4 had a great time at the birthday party we went to. This place was a pretty cool place to throw a party for kids. My kids tired themselves out so much that both of them fell asleep on the car ride home.
Clean. Runs like clockwork.
The first three times I went here for a kindergartner's birthday party, it was pretty cool. Who doesn't like huge inflatable slides, lots of jumpy things, and benches for the parents to collapse on while the kids get all sweaty? They bring in good pizza from some local place, and they have plenty of soda to wash it all down.
A week later, when I went to my fourth-sixth parties at the same place (please do not make me count how many times I have been there in total...please...), the shine had worn off. Now I try to make sure my kids are on jury duty, or I fake a bout with a tropical disease rather than go there again and again... :-)
Honestly, it is a fun place, but man oh man do people need another place to throw a birthday party in the mid-Peninsula.

We hosted a mix-aged birthday party for our little guys (6, 4 and 2) and their 30ish friends here a few weeks back.
The Pros:
- Our three kids loved it and left exhausted
- Most of the guest kids loved it and left exhausted
- The planning was fairly easy, since they take care of the basics
- We brought in Sibby's cupcakes, which were excellent
The Cons:
- Mixed ages did not work that well, as there was no good place for the little ones to jump on their own
- Afterwards we heard that two kids got injured and had to seek medical attention (they are okay, but got pretty banged up)
- The staff was lackadaisical and were not really helping to enforce their own safety rules
All in all it's a very cool concept and our guys had a blast. I probably would go for a single age party next time however, and would also keep the party size to 20 kids or so to avoid having things get too wild.

I've been here five times now, and each time has not been a disappointment.
After the video of what to do and not to do (which the kids never follow...LOL), we go into the first room with three jumpers - double slide, jumper with two basketball hoops and a obstacle course jumper.
After what seems like 45 minutes, we go into another room that has three larger jumpers - one to just jump around in and slide, another double slide that is twice the size of the smaller one in the first room, and an even bigger obstacle course.
After another 45 minutes, we go into one of the party rooms and have pizza, drinks and cake. The birthday boy/girl gets to sit on an inflatable throne!
- Bring a small towel. The kids will really sweat and you will too (LOL) if they ask you to play with them! It really is a lot of fun! Bring an extra change of clothes for the kids also if you plan to go somewhere afterwards (like another party).
- No drinks or food near the jumpers, so bring so snack and drink boxes that can fit in your pockets (or purse) so they can munch really quick in the lobby before playing again.
- The pizza is provided by Pump It Up, from a place called Avanti's. Yes, this pizza is actually good to eat. You need to bring your own cake. Don't know if they provide the 2-liter drinks also.
- Air Hockey table in the 2nd room = $5 extra.
- Gifts are kept in a cart near the front desk for your arriving guests to put into.
- Come a little early if you want to be able to park in their small parking lot. There's enough street parking also.
Have fun!!

"C'mon Jen, I'll race you!" my little friend says, who's also the 10 yr old birthday boy.
"Are you sure you wanna? Cuz you know you're going down!" I say, cocky as ever, not knowing what to expect.
He jumps like Superman through the hole fast as a speeding bullet! I jump like Superwoman through the hole fast as a speeding bullet! And hit my head on the first thing on the other side, body not even half way through the hole. Dammit!
He crawls underneath the contraption on his hands and knees all hardcore like a Marine at bootcamp! I lay on my stomach feeling squished like the bully from elementary school is sitting on me. This sucks. I eventually wiggle my way out.
He climbs up the mountain-like steps as if he's honey I shrunk Bear Grillz! I climb up the mountain-like steps which feels like the freakin Himalayas.
I see him float down the slide with his hands up in the air like a CareBear on a rainbow. I sit at the top of the slide for what seems to be 30 seconds but in actuality is probably 5 minutes and sluggishly slide down with the birthday boy grinning from ear to ear.
Did that race totally kick my ass? YES.
Did I finally make it to the end with burns on my elbow and knuckles, sweaty pits, one sock, and feeling like I've just aged 40 years? YES!
Would I go back? YES! Because the pizza they have waiting for you is awesome! :)

Maybe a 3.5.
We had been to 2 parties here and 1 party at Pump It Up Junior in Sunnyvale over the last year, so my then-turning-4 year old daughter REALLY wanted to have her birthday party here. At first I was resistant because I like to have a more intimate feel where you can actually talk to your guests, but we were moving and I was starting back to work after a maternity leave so had too much going on at once. This was an easy solution where all we had to do was bring (our own homemade) cupcakes.
You pay a hefty amount ($300 + food/drinks/fruit/veggies = $500!) for 2 hours, and the service was ok. The kids always seem to enjoy it though! There is a variety of bouncy structures in 2 separate rooms and the obstacle courses and slides seem to be the faves. I always wonder if the kids will get sick because they only offer that antibacterial gel right before the meal.
I bet everyone crashed in the car on the way home (party ended at 6:45pm) but in fact I think it made my daughter more wired! She was so sweaty after the bouncing so her photos in the eating room were not picture-perfect -- um, damp hair and a kind of tired look with a fake smile.
Oh well, next year we'll do a small tea party at our house or something.

Bonked heads, a black eye, bloody nose, falling of a bench (x2), falling flat on one's back -- all par for the course in this venerable 3~5 year old birthday party factory. Kids barely skip a beat and get right back into the fray for more rounds of punishment.
The party starts in one room of bouncy houses, bouncy obsticle courses and bouncy slides and then moves to another room similarly arranged with other bouncy structures. From there, the festivities move on to a party room with pizza, juice and birthday cake. Don't forget your goodie back included with the package!
Rack 'm and stack 'm: make room for the next party. After several years of home parties, I have come to appreciate the value of a birthday party factory such as Pump It Up or Safari Run -- or even Malibu or Chuck E Cheese's for that matter. Trash the place and let others clean up. Yup, works for me.

This place quite literally is a Birthday Party Factory. Little known concept outside of those of us with young kiddos, and what a concept it is. You pay a couple hundred bucks and you get instant birthday party - just add water. No experience necessary. This, my dear reader, was what my youngest, a three-time Pump it Up veteran, truly wanted for his 3rd birthday party.
Here's the drill. This place is located in a very industrial part of town, with lots of space. Inside, they have two gigantic rooms, each with its own setup of inflatable apparati (think jumpy houses on steroids). You start as a group in room 1, and the kids go bananans until they're eventually bored after about 30-40 minutes. Then, the whole group gets whisked into room #2, with a whole new set of activities that involves more jumping, climbing, and navigating various obstacle courses. This goes on for another 30-40 minutes.
Now that everyone is sufficiently wiped out and on edge from being so tuckered out, everyone gets whisked into a party room where pizzas and birthday cake are produced, ensuring that all of the kids get jacked up on sugar before they go home, to top off their already exhausted bodies.
Pump it Up even takes care of the goody bags. (Question: Who do we have to blame for this inane goody bag phenomenon?! I mean, really.)
What makes this place the factory that it is, is the efficiency of their throughput, with multiple parties there simultaneously, each in their own various stage of kiddy party awesomeness. My dad, who has spent the last 35 years as an operations intellectual was absolutely fascinated with this whole thing. Truly, a cultural phenomenon (not) to be missed.

This place is a birthday party factory! They just crank them out one after another.
Attended a birthday party here yesterday with my 4 (almost 5 ) yo nephew and 1 (almost 2) yo niece. You start off in one gigantic room with 3 inflatable bouncers - a basketball court, a slide, and an obstacle course. You stay in there for about 40 minutes. Then everyone lines up and ushered into room 2. There's 3 more inflatable bouncers that seem to be a little more difficult - steeper inclines, higher climbs. Play here for another 40 minutes and then whisked into the party room for pizza, chips, drinks, cake, and goodie bags.
I was pretty tired out going through all those things with the niece. She was a little too small to go through all those things herself.
The kiddies loved it and now the nephew is planning to have his 5th bday party here.
We were there for a birthday party. The staffs there were rude and rushed us to finish our food. Kids sometime needs a little more time to finish their food. Before we were able to finish the pizza, they started to remove the plates. As they were hurrying us, one of the staff even said "What the heck, can they understand English?"
This is a terrible comment they made, especially to a group of Asian Americans! I'll not go back there and won't recommend this place for birthday party.

Well this is certainly an interesting concept. I bet this place does great in the mid-west.
You know all those bouncy inflatable castles and slides you see at local farmer's markets, street fairs and birthday parties? Well this is a wherehouse full of them!
Apparently, you are charged per child and get 45 minutes in the first room, adjourn to the next and get another 45 minutes. Then it's a pizza party! I'm sure the parents are welcome to bring cake and such.
I think it's a great unique party idea, especially in the winter months.
It was really fun to watch the kids lose their oomf towards the end of the second 45 minutes. I bet their paretns had a good night that night. Tee hee.

For those not familiar with Pump It Up, it's a great place to bring your kids for some serious fun, play and exercise on inflatable "toys". I've been to Pump It Up twice for children's birthday parties (once in Sunnyvale and once in Belmont), and my 8 year old daughter, absolutely loved it each time. The buildings is divided into to two giant air-conditioned, music pumping playrooms filled with huge jumpy/climby structures that the kids race through, climb up & slide down, bounce, yell and scream on. This is especially great for rainy days when the kids have way too much energy, but can't go out to play. They will exhaust so much energy, get a bunch of exercise and be amazingly and peacefully tired afterwards, that they'll sleep very soundly in the evening.
For birthday parties, the kids will spend about an hour in each playroom while being monitored by the staff, and then be escorted to a smaller private room for food, cake and ice cream.
Parents will have to sign a waiver before kids are allowed to play on the structures. Kids will be required to wear socks (which they sell there), as no shoes are allowed on the structures.
Check it out, you and your kids will love it! Recommended for kids 2 to adult!

I made a reservation at Pump It Up for my daughter who is turning 3 in August and I thought that this would be a fun place for her and her little friends to celebrate her birthday. I made these reservations a month ago and to find out today the incompetent staff member who I thought booked my reservation did not, even though they took my credit card the party was not booked and was filled by another party.
I was totally pissed off to how they handled this situation. They couldn't even come up with a solution to help me out. Now I'm a month away from her birthday with 25 kids who have already been invited with no place to have this party. I suggest if you end up booking a party at this place you should go in person rather than book an event over the phone to make sure they ridiculous staff member do their job that they are getting paid to do.

Our party was fun and my 3 year old had a great time but what a nightmare to deal with that place! I made our reservations back in July since they fill up so fast, that went smoothly. My frustrations begun about two weeks before the party.....
1. I called them two weeks before to ask them if they had a freezer for my kids ice cream cake (mind you they don't have an actual person answer the phone. (Shocker! What else is new at companies) No one called me back. I called a left at least 3 messages for two weeks and nothing! I went in the talk to a manager and all she said was.."that's too bad, sorry."
2. They called me two days before the party to get my pizza order. Fine, they left a message at my house, That night I called and again another message to let them know please don't call me at home, call me on my cell for the pizza order I will not be home, Again, the next night I got home another message on my home number. UGG!! Went down to the facility again the next day to tell them my order for the party!
3. Okay, now we're all there having a great time. Once it was time to get into the party room where there was cake and pizza I felt completely rushed!! We only had 40 mins to eat dinner, sing happy bday, and eat cake. We were suppose to leave at 645pm, at 640p the employee was rushing us out like the place was on fire. We were packing everything up and he said you must be out right now or the manager will charge you $50 if you stay past 645p. I said we leaving I'm packing things to leave. Some of my guests were still eating cake! Oh..don't forget your cake knife, they charge you $2 to use this disposable plastic knife they give you. This place isn't cheap either, I don't mind paying but give me some customer service for over $400 for 2 hrs!
I think it's a really cute place to have a party however I will never go back due to lack of customer service/staff. It was very frustrating to tell your friends and family finish your cake we gotta go!!

Lots of fun for the kids and good venue too. I've been twice for kids birthday parties and every time was a blast. Supposedly they do adult teambuildings etc., but I haven't seen any of those. Things are organized, really like a birthday party assembly line, and you progress from one room of bouncy rooms and slides to another, and then to the party room for cake and pizza (if you pay for it). Service is lackadaisical, seems like the typical high-school minimum wagers, but it's really not necessary. High marks for the kids fun factor, as it's pretty well impossible not to have a great time. Don't forget socks!
