Very cool bar located in the Marriott Marquis. Love the vibrant lighting that changes and techno music that plays softly overhead. As I was waiting for others to arrive, I sat at the bar. The bartender working on this Friday night was friendly and efficient - taking the time to chat, but also keeping an eye on who needed refreshing.

Once others arrived, we sat in the atrium area. Cool groupings of red lounge seating spaced far enough apart to give you privacy. I was drinking beer, but a couple of people ordered the martini sampler trees and I think this is a popular item as I saw many being served throughout the evening.

Before we headed onto our next venue, we took the glass elevator up to the 47th floor. This elevator is super charged and between the speed and the height, my ears popped. We walked around the floor to take in the spectacular view of the inside of this hotel. They did an amazing job with the layout and color scheme. It is quite breathtaking.

Pulse is definitely a cool place to meet up for the start of your evening if you are in the downtown area. Highly recommend it.

What an appropriate name for this bar. There is a subtle sound of a heartbeat, which creates an energetic vibe. Plus the lounge is located in the atrium of the Marriott Marquis and has an amazing architectural view when gazing up past the 50 floors.

The drink menu is fun and my latest favorite is the Orange, Vanilla Mojito. Simply delicious and I did not feel it was overpriced at $9.
Another fun item to order is Mini-Tini Tree. OK, I cannot remember what it is called on the menu, but it is a tree of three different mini flavored martini's and I believe it is reasonably priced at $14.

You should come here at least once for yummy drinks and the amazing view. Additionally, I highly recommend taking the glass elevator up to the 47th floor, before you leave. You will enjoy a view of Midtown, as well as experience the view of Pulse below.

Hearing that subtle beat and gazing down from the top of the atrium will make you feel like you are taking part in a sci-fi movie.

A must experience in Atlanta.

I went to check out this bar after reading the reviews and found it very disappointing. I will give 2 stars for impressive design and ambiance, but it was totally dead considering it was a Saturday night. I'm a recent transplant from New York City and I understand that nightlife may not be the same here in Atlanta, but I figured a hotel bar would be a safe bet....I was wrong. Me and my friend left the bar after 5 minutes. I guess I would go there if I was staying at the hotel, but otherwise, not worth it.

Boom-chia, boom-chica, boom-chica, boom-chica, boom-chica, boom-chica, boom-chica,

That's what I think of when I think of Pulse. Well, that's what I DID think of before hanging out there this weekend. I imagined 2 story tall speaker boxes with woofers the size of my 5 ft 9 tall frame cranking out the earth trembling beats of some fresh new sound. But on the contrary, there were no 2 story tall speakers, but they did have a pretty good groove going.

It's a bar in the Marriott. What more can you say for hotel bars. The service at the bar sucked on this night, but I'm not complaining to much as they were jam packed from all the Dragoncon and non-Dragoncon attendees. I myself were a non-Dragoncon attendee but more along the lines of a gauker. Service in the lounge area was pretty good as the waitress was super duper slammed but seemed to keep a pleasant smile on her face all night long. She even remembered to come back and ask for my drink order after I walked away to point and laugh at a costumed character. Mad props to Kristine M. for kicking her birthday celebration off here as it popped my Dragoncon cherry. Yay! I'm not a virgin any more!

All in in, Pulse is a great place to get a drink and do some major people watching. And if there is a convention or show of some sort in town, get there early and be prepared to stay a while. The people that come through this place are just as fun to watch as going to the Zoo! And oh yeah, be prepared to pay a lot for drinks. Somewhere some one who opened the first bar in a hotel said "Hey! let's charge these people a crap load of money for booze. They'll pay it, because they don't have any where else to go!" he-haw!

Pulse really is in the coolest location...right in the middle of the huge open atrium of the Marriott Marquis downtown.  If you've never been inside, it's well worth a look--basically you look up and it's as if you're staring up into the rib cage of a dinosaur.

So, Pulse is literally a bar in the  middle of the atrium and they have the BEST mojito ever.  It's the Vanilla Orange Mojito.  They have tons of cool little booths and seating arrangements perfect for small groups.  Don't worry guys, there are plenty of t.v.'s as well.

The architecture of the hotel that you get to see from Pulse is very cool and different.  From the outside, it looks like a big bloated 70's thing.  From the inside, iIt's like being in the belly of a whale.  Only the whale serves cocktails and plays music and has great people watching.

This is great for a small casual group.  Maybe meeting some internet acquaintance that is in town on business.  But don't go here on a first date, and not with a very large group, as someone is going to be stuck on the ottomans after you rearrange the seating and they'll feel it later.  (Hi Randy!)   Don't worry, it's comfy if you score a normal chair.

The atrium is just stunning to look at, though, and that's why you should check it out. The sail gives the place some color that changes a couple times a day (though I'm the minority in wishing they'd get rid of the big screen tv).  And the music is very chill out and energizing at the same time, which I like, and needs to be imitated more.

The best part, though, is the mini trio of martinis.  Apple, mango, and pomegranate if memory serves, and memory may not serve because I had two trios of them.  And though they call them mini martinis, they're probably 4 oz each, when I was expecting 2. (Most bars serve 6-9 oz martinis, I think.)   They're served on this cute little metal tree thing.   (Ok, after that many girly martinis, just about anything is cute.)

Prices are hotel bar prices, not college bar prices.  The service can be a little slow, but it's a hotel bar, and they're used to people who are killing time and have nowhere to go. I don't recommend coming here if you've got time-sensitive plans for later, though that's not likely, given that downtown ATL is kinda dead by the time you'll be ready to leave.

Chic bar in a very chic hotel.  The bartender was very sweet and funny.  The clientele ranges since it's a hotel bar. The huge tv and comfy seating was very very nice!
