This is the best restaurant in Nashville. When I worked in the area, I would eat lunch here at least 2-3 times a week. I'm not exaggerating.

It is the best chicken salad I have ever had, and the most delicious and moist poppy seed bread on earth.

What to order: Chicken Salad Sandwich on homemade rolls (you must specify this, and trust me, it's the way to go), and a side order of poppy seed bread.

I also really enjoy their Quiche and desserts. The burgers are really tasty if you're in the mood as well.

This is nice restaurant for breakfast, and bakery.

The BLT plate was good, the poppy seed bread was excellent. The cheese omelette was awesome according to my husband, three different cheeses.

Service was okay. Plenty of parking and cool store surround this place.

I have never eaten in the restaurant part because it just seems pretty expensive for what it is. It's definitely seems to attract a core crew of ladies of leisure who probably spend more of their husband's money in a week than I make in a year but I'm not bitter.

I give it four stars for the cakes. Sumptuous, heavenly, decadent cakes that are worth the drive to Maryland farms even if you live nowhere near it. I am not a sheet cake person so my husband is screwed on my birthday unless he gets me a red velvet cake, carrot cake, or something involving Carmel and chocolate. Mmmmm.... I really can say they always rock my birthday when I get one so rich bitches be damned, you probably cant' eat the cake anyway....

Oh yes, if you have discretionary income to blow and you want a cake that looks exactly like Curious George or whatever you can dream up then they offer some pretty nifty cake options. I personally don't have $300(or more) to blow on my kids cake but if I was Nikole Kidman and it was my kids first birthday, this is who would make my cake...

Great overall menu here, including desserts. Last time through here I ordered 4 wonderful desserts to go, and brought them over to a friend's house to share.  They were a big hit, and tasted amazing.

It can get pretty crowded during lunch and on the weekends, but  I really do think that it is worth it.  Worth the wait to try it out if you have not been there already.

It may be worth the traffic to work in Maryland Farms just to be able to eat here all the time. I love this place for lunch and am glad I found it. I think one of the administrative assistants at work had recommended it to me as a place to get take-out. Great stuff.

They won't seat you until you're entire party is there. You might have a little bit of a wait at lunch time, but you can always get your food to go. I love the Tea Room Sampler which has pimento cheese, chicken salad, and tuna salad along with cranberry salad and lemon poppyseed bread. The poppyseed bread is so sweet it's almost like dessert. A great way to sample what Puffy Muffin has to offer. They also have a delicious sandwich with ham on an English muffin with pimiento cheese. And the Amaretto Chicken salad is worth a special mention as well.

They have a fantastic selection of cookies and cakes. I've just never had room to try any of them. Definitely worth the drive down to Brentwood...or if you work close by, lucky you!

Good for breakfast. Service is fine. I'm in and out within 1/2 an hour, so I wouldn't say service is slow.  Big pie selection.  Poppy seed bread is alright.  I'm not a muffin person, so I didn't care for the muffins.  I LOVE the pies, especially the chess pie...my Southern FAVE! : )

The food here is great, but you do have to put up with the clientele. If you like lunching with the ultimate "ladies who lunch" then this is your place. Personally it makes me a little uneasy tucking away my chicken salad around ladies in tennis skirts with real diamond tennis bracelets that are probably worth more than my house.

However, it's just lunch, right? And they do have great desserts and all the lunch standards. Their bakery is legendary in these parts and it's worth the drive to Brentwood to check out.

Located in a strip mall in the 'burbs (surprise!) is a wonderful little bakery and lunch place with a funny name.  Puffy Muffin is awesome for a few reasons:

--CAKES.  If you ever need to buy me a cake for some reason, I request the caramel butter cake with chocolate cream cheese icing.  Delightful!  Seriously, their cakes are hard to beat--moist, sugary, perfect.
--Lunch.  Your normal "ladies who lunch" menu, it has all the standards--a bevy of salads, grilled chicken, and casseroles.  But they are all a notch above most other places of its kind.

The grilled cheese is gooey and messy and delicious, and the chicken salad here is just right--not too salty or mayonnaise-y.  The congealed cranberry salad is served as a side to most sandwiches, and at first you think yuck--congealed salad.  I'm not at a cafeteria.  But try it--you'll LOVE it!

If you go during normal lunch hours, expect a bit of a wait--and a lot of blue hairs.  Don't let that stop you though!  Best brunch in Brentwood by far.

The Puffy Muffin has a huge bakery and to-go items available in addition to their sit-down restaurant service. The restaurant itself is one big open room, and has a nicer cafeteria feel.  They have a great selection of quiches and the standard soups and sandwiches. The atmosphere is not very special, it was kind of loud and too busy over the lunch hour.

I would come here to get some of their bakery items, they have beautiful cakes, pies and cookies. But the best thing here is their quiche.  Luckily you can get the quiche to go!

Nestled between REI on one end and Kincos on the other, this place is *quite* the find.  They only serve breakfast and lunch and close at 3pm.  This place has explosively taken off in popularity and size over the last 5 or so years.

I suggest the quiche platter (which generally comes with your choice of sausage, spinach, or the quiche of the day--I think it runs $8).  Also, one of the special meal platters they often have is the BBQ Shrimp & Garlic Mashed potatoes, which is well worth $8.  Its ALOT better than far fancier places I've dined in Nashville.  Also, check out their ginger tea.

Whenever I'm in Nashville or Brentwood, I make it my mission to check out a well done home cooking with a healthy side of Southern Charm at the Puffy Muffin.

The cafe offers all kinds of baked goods, sweets, their YUMMY ginger tea and even cookbooks.  Buy your mom or grandmother one of their pies or baked goods...and they'll love you for it.

I have been to this establishment on more than one occasion and have never really been impressed. Their food is average... mostly catered to elderly southern women. There are very few vegetarian options. The last time I was there was for a bridal luncheon. The manager was very rude to us and asked us to leave our table because all of our party was not there yet (we were missing the bride herself). It would have been a bit more understandable if there were not quite a few large empty tables around us. While i would not reccomend this place to eat at, their bakery however is great. The baker will make special (gluten free, casing and whey free) cakes upon request. If you have no allergies try the boston cream cake. It's to die for!

Good breakfast/lunch deli, usually crowded, usually with cotton-heads, but there is limited bar seating as well as tables, and a waiting room. The deli case is dominated by baked goods, pastries, cakes, and other sweets, all fair to look at. Omelettes are good, sandwiches are good but a little too homemade (i.e. I could make them quicker and cheaper) but they come with interesting little sides. Meat & two is a safe choice. Of course, desserts are great.

I am only reviewing the bakery section of the restaurant as I have not tried the food.  We selected puffy muffin based upon the "buzz" that this was such a cool/hip place to eat and get baked goods.  I can say that I truly do not understand.  I first called as we were looking for a place to provide baked goods for two special events.  When I called they were not overly helpful or able to accommodate my request to taste cakes for a wedding.  We decided to continue the search for the wedding cake but did purchase the $30 coconut cream cake for my mother's 50th birthday.  I can say that the cake was good for one thing-it made us all laugh :o)  I have included a picture that actually does the cake justice.  The cake not only looked bad but didn't taste good at all-not even the children would eat it :o)  The cake was dry and the cream was actually sour cream.  So we had a dry white cake iced with sour cream and coconuts - ewwww.  I guess I have more traditional taste in desserts and I definitely like moist cake.  Again, we all had a good laugh and it certainly made a family memory so it wasn't all that bad.

You know, I've been here a few times recently and really haven't been inspired to Yelp. I realize it's just a safe choice... very vanilla.  It's the type of place you can go with your parents, your co-workers, or your kids and everyone will find something they can eat and enjoy for a fair price.  I haven't been particularly wowed by the food though my fellow diners have loved the quiche. I will definitely go back to purchase the poppy seed bread - a great treat for out of town guests or a special treat on the weekend - though I won't be racing to eat there.  I haven't eaten the cakes but they look tempting with their beautiful decorations and yummy flavor offerings.
