I've had my make-up done multiple times at Puff Beauty - at least 4x and just scheduled another appointment.  Monique has done all of my make-up before and I LOVE HER.  Aimee will do my next time since Monique will be on vacation, but I'm not worried.  This place is very professional and really great.  Monique has done my trial make-up, rehearsal day make-up, wedding make-up, and hot date with hubby make-up.  My husband always tries to see the line where the spiders (fake eyelashes) are and can't see it - they're that good.  I have always looked and felt  beautiful when I left Puff.  They don't mess around - don't waste their time and they won't waste yours.

Regardless if it's a special occasion or just because...  Use Puff Beauty as your personal make-up artist.  You won't regret it.

It's really just a cute shop.  Lots of fun products to buy!

    For those of you who don' t know...I'm a girly product J U N K Y!

We stumbled upon this place after grabbing a cup of coffee at nearby Busters and I swear...it was like someone threw up PINK...everywhere!

Puff makes you A) feel all frilly and TuTu-like and B) makes you want to spend everything in your wallet!  It's THAT cute.

Like Christine T. mentioned...they carry a variety of products from expensive (Ole Henricksen) to cheapy (mmmm...Creme Soda Lip Balm by Buddah...$3)...really something for everyone.  Even your poochie is represented in a doggie shampoo line!

If you're in need of soaps, body balms, scrubs, perfumes, makeup, etc....or looking to buy a unique gift for that special someone...Puff can fill your every whim.

Oh, and did I mention they have a few spa treatments?  Yup...they do makeup, eyebrows, waxing, and all sorts of skin soothing stuff.  Ah...what woman doesn't like to be pampered?  You hearing me boys?    Impress your lady...go to Puff!

A super cute store that dazzle you with numerous adorable beauty supplies.  You'll easy get attracted to this store from peeking into its chic and stylish interior.  It is lofty, high ceiling, with bold and pleasant colors and patterns on the wall.  It fits right into this artsy South Pasadena neighborhood.

The layout of the store is also very interesting, there is a hidden back gallery or husband/boyfriend area behind a half wall.  It has a supply of some art and design magazines for uneasy male companies to hang out.

Products are displayed thoughtfully so you're completely engaged in finding out what they do, and experimenting.  It's also easy to chat up with Amiee who is a friendly store owner who is a practicing make up artist in LA. She also organizes group make up classes, and various make up services.

Even if you're not into cosmetics, it's still worth to drop by and check out it's amazing interior design.  Unlike Sephora, it's personal and cozy, and you certainly will not encounter any obnoxious perfume smell that shoots straight up to your nose as you stepped in.

Okay, I'm at work, so I gotta make this quick. I promise to write more later!

I LOVE PUFF! There is no doubt about it. Whether you're an experienced makeup lover or a beginner, this is the great place to chill, to explore, to play, and even to drop by often. Lots of different make-up products to explore that aren't the usual fare. That's what I love most...you're getting products that are fresh, new, and not necessarily expensive. There's  something for everyone: the pre-teen, the twenty-something, or the older, mature women. This place is super girly and super  pink, but I've seen guys here because the products are so good and the advice from Aimee and Monique is so down-to-earth and experienced.

When you usually go to a department store counter, you really get approached by vultures...I swear. They tell you horrible things about your skin and then allay those mean words with bottled promises. They also don't really, really tell you what they think about the products, either because they don't know or don't want to tell you.

Beyond being really professional, Aimee is so helpful and so sweet. Her advice is practical. She will show you how to use each and every product specifically for your skin and style. Where else can you get that?

    Okay, back to work.

    Over and out.

So chic! So pink! This is such a girlie girl beauty store. The store owner Aimee is super perky and friendly and is a big Hello Kitty fan such as moi =).  She's happy to help you in your beauty endeavors whatever way she can.  She has an adorable pet parakeet named Marge that she says keeps her company.

Puff carries a variety of not so played out beauty brands such Jelly Pong Pong, Peter Thomas Roth, Principessa, Bloom, Three Custom Color Specialists (creates dust on SPF foundation), Lulu, Mistral, and Aqua Dessa Skin Therapy.  There's also beauty treatments available including facials, brow shaping, paraffin treatments, make-up application, and even eyelash extensions (initial app. is $170).  I think it'd be fun to get made up here! It's low key and there's not tons of pretentious make-up artists running around like a MAC store.

I didn't buy any make-up but I bought a necklace that's part of her sister's line that she carries. They're beautiful Asian-inspired pieces and a lot of them are chunky styles which I love!

The anti-thesis of harshly lit department store beauty counters, Puff Beauty is like visiting your best friend's well-stocked vanity. Owner and makeup artist extraordinaire Aimee Jakes personally tests out all the products and carries lesser-known brands such as Dianne Brill,  jelly pong pong, and Lola Cosmetics (Three Custom Color Specialists' eyeshadows are great, too!) in addition to organic beauty and spa lines and fragrances. This review is way overdue, as I first went to the shop in September of '07.

I was super-excited to see Aimee carries Crazylibellule and the Poppies, a Parisian line of petite solid fragrance sticks that are only $16 each -- Vanilla Lemon Pie from the Poule de Luxe collection is my favorite. Also, Ananas Imperial is fruity and playful for summer, so check it out. Best of all, they travel well and you can toss them into your carry-on!

My eyebrow shaping with Emily was a treat ($20 + tip, unless prices have gone up recently), and she was very thorough, analyzing my brows and being careful not to overpluck. She maintains your natural browline, but I'm sure she can do more dramatic brows if you ask for them.

On top of all that, the place boasts a rotating art gallery in the back!

Very cute shop in South Pas.  I went in for a facial with Emily on Sunday for the Sunday Champagne Brunch Facial (priced $69 instead of $90).  She was very nice and gentle with my skin, always asking if the temperature and touch was comfortable.  She even offered to skip the extractions, as I am quite squemish.  But we marched on with the facial.  My skin felt cleaner and calmer afterwards.  I loved receiving a handwritten note the following week, thanking me for visiting.  Such a nice gesture.  Emily and Puff are great if you want a pampering, relaxing facial.

Pros: Cute shop and location, friendly and patient facialist, reasonable prices
Cons: Street parking, can hear train coming by, small space

Aimee is the BEST! She's both the owner of Puff Beauty, a fantastic makeup artist, and the partner that I selected to make me extra pretty on my wedding day. I don't think I could have made a better choice. In addition to her fantastic skills, her personality is every bit as charming as her shop!

It was so nice (and smart) to begin my wedding day with someone so adorable and sweet. Aimee really helped me mellow out and enjoy the day. I highly recommend Puff Beauty to everyone. In fact, I'm going back for another appointment next weekend - a makeup lesson!

    Puff is closing.

Their remaining stock (what's left) is being sold at a tremendous discount - $5 for any item and $1 for any tester item. I picked up an eyeshadow brush from 3 Custom Colors (normally $28), a organic Hawaiian body wash ($25) and a warming pillow ($30) for $5 a piece this past Saturday.

The clerk said that the staff is dispersing to other salons nearby. Sad to see such a cute, independently operated, and so highly reviewed store close. :(

I haven't tried any of their services, which include makeup, facials and nail care, but I love the shop itself.  It's a girly-girl's haven, bath and body items, makeup, hair care and fragrance.

The prices are all over the place; you can definitely spend a mint on the high end items (looove the Julie Hewitt palates!) but there's also some fun, funky, cheapie stuff too like lip balms and little accessories.

Oh!  I have to mention that they carry Besame as well!  I love this local LA makeup line soo much for it's vintage packaging and richly tinted products but it can be hard to find.  Puff's got it!

Skip Sephora, shop local!  Puff Beauty's a gem.

This place is amazing. Thank you so much Puff Studios for making getting your makeup done affordable. You no longer have to be a bride or an attendee at an LA award show to get your makeup done! I have gone here twice before going out to a nice dinner -and it is so affordable and totally worth it. The people that work there are skilled  amazing and the studio is adorable. Monique is great. I will absolutely

i am no stranger to this cutsie beauty studio. in fact, i love it here! this has been one of the only places i have ever been able to find my shade of hooker red for my pucker....cause as you know the right shade of red is detrimental to any lady. the owner and make up artist, aimee, is super nice and is oh so cute! she has always been extremely helpful. she also loves, loves, loves to throw events here ladies. *hint, hint* porous the make up and mingle with cool people while lookin' at the art in the back....keep an eye out for one of her girlie evening events!

this past weekend i decided to get a facial with emily, whom was super sweet. she has no problem in askin' you how you're doin' and if all the products are okay for you. she has the best assortments of flavor-fully scented products. i must have smelled like a cupcake walkin' out of there, but i did not mind a bit. my favorite was the chocolate mask...yes...chocolate! i did lick my face a few times causing emily to giggle. she was great and made you feel relaxed. she also has no problem coming in before store hours or stayin' after store hours to make sure you get the extra relaxation you need to start or end your day.

check this place out! i guarantee you won't be disappointed. they are super accommodating and don't feel anything like picking up make-up at your local mall...eeewwwww! at least here you feel like someone's payin' attention to how you look and not just how much you spend. til then ladies! *wink, wink*

O.k so i'v never really been much of a girly girl. To tell you the truth i'v always been intimidated of make up.  So there i was strolling around south pas. and i came upon this little pink shop. Usually i would poke my head in and feel the vibe and then probably walk away. But this day I figured oh what the hey, i'll go in and see what 's up.  So i walk in and to my surprise i liked it.  The vibe was nice and calm and no one breathing behind my back forcing me to buy something.  All i got was a big smile and a Hello, let me know if you have any questions.  I finally mustered up the confidence to ask  " what's your best chapstick"?  next thing i know i was sitting in a chair with Aimy (the super cool owner) and she was showing me how to put on makeup.  She didn't glam me up or get me ready for a prom.  She looked me over and knew exactly what to do.  She didn't force me to buy anything and she made me feel confident about my face.  I walked out of there looking pretty and feeling great!  (and i did get a great chapstick)!
Best make-up store i'v ever been to!!!

Do I actually look like smoke needs to be blown up me arse?
    Fuck ya.
    Dazzle me bitch.
Sell your shit like tomorrow doesn't matter.
Peddle your wares and give me a reach around while your at it.
Now THAT'S the way to make a customer feel like the pretty pretty princess that your store promises.
I give most of the props to your employees.  I bought ANYTHING here because even though you were flattering the old chick in the chair by pasting as much paint on her face as her complexion would allow, you didn't ignore anyone else in the store.  You smiled and complimented your customers while kissing the ass of the "bride-to-be" that really wanted all of your attention and shot death dagger eyes at the rest of us.
You rock at your job.  And your products aren't half bad either.  Everytime I look at the lip stain you sold me I think of you, sweetheart.  Because you were so fucking beautiful, kind &..let's face it...professionally harmonious.
And maybe you have to be.  Fuck that, no you don't.  But YOU do.
If I could convince the Bud light "Real Men of Genius" inventors to adopt a new avenue and applaud your retail grace..I would do it in a fucking second.
So here's to you....you....retail's answer to a flawless princess.
Keep doing...exactly what you are doing.
And I'll see you next week.
    Same bat time.
    Same bat channel.

I really enjoyed my visit to Puff Beauty - it's such a cute, girly store. The owner, Aimee, is really nice too. They carry a lot of different products, and Aimee can tell you what would look best for your complexion and look.

I also found out that she offers a makeup lesson using the cosmetics I already have and she taught me how I could use them to create different looks. Then, she showed me other colors and looks that I could use. I didn't feel pressured at all, and it was really nice to have such personal attention. She makes you feel really comfortable, and looking great when you walk out of the store. Ever since, she greets me like an old friend. I highly recommend Puff Beauty!

EDIT: I think Puff is closing their store on 1/31/10 according to their facebook fan page, but everything is 50% off. :( Such a sad day.

I would have to agree with all of the positive reviews here!

I was in search of a make-up artist for my wedding and panicked a bit when my wedding was in less than a month and I had no one.  I went to Yelp, and lo and behold, all the positive reviews, the extra icing being that it was in my hometown!  I decided to make an appointment for a "preview."  The price for bridal make-up was $95...pretty decent for a professional, and the $40 preview is applied towards the full amount.

Aimee did my wedding make-up, and she was very thorough.  I mentioned some concerns to her about my make-up  after the preview, and she assured me she would handle everything so that my make-up would be perfect for the day of.  Let's just say, it was!

She spent an hour on my wedding make-up and it turned out great!  Who knew that even *I* could look decent?  ^_~  I was soooo pleasantly surprised my make-up stayed put through my wedding day, even after all the tears I shed.  Seriously.  I should have looked like a raccoon, but I didn't!!!!  =)  Super-duper happy with that!!!  While she was putting on my make-up, she would help out customers by answering their questions, and she knows her products and is honest about them being right for you or not.  Aimee is seriously one of the sweetest people I have ever met!  She is not intimidating at all!  Very friendly and helpful and you can feel comfortable asking her for help with your beauty needs!

I also had my eyebrows waxed here, and I enjoyed the process.  It was very relaxing.  I have even given out gift cards to my girlfriends to come try this place!

Cute little shop on a cute little street in South Pasadena. I had my makeup done for a special event there. It was my first time visiting their boutique, but  I thought I'd give it a try since it was rated so high on Yelp. They did a fabulous job ... just what I was looking for. I thought their prices were very reasonable and felt they did even more than what I was expecting. I think I'll go back for a facial the next time. =)

I had Amy do my make-up for my wedding and she was so sweet and did an awesome job! She redid things and tried different lashes until I was completely satisfied at the trials, and even did an extra trial with me. She came on location and did my sister and I.  I also had to get a new eyebrow lady right before which I was nervous about but Alexis did an awesome job and I still go to her! She is very precise. My boyfriend (now husband) found Amy on yelp for me and I am so glad!

I didn't get my makeup 'done' here but I wandered by and saw all the yummy makeup lines and had to browse around (and of course, make a purchase). What a great little shop with a helpful and friendly staff. They had some hard-to-find makeup brands such as Julie Hewett, Talullah, The Balm, Lipstick Queen and Three Custom Color Specialists. Awesome to find these all in one place plus many other brands to check out. Yay South Pas! Mission Street is becoming more of a focal point and it's great to support independent business owners.

It's rare I go farther  east of the the (Silverlake)Eastside, this place takes me there. If you need a pretty boost and want to feel like a girly-girl, PUFF is my favorite. The selection is so yummy and pretty. I feel so happy just walking in. The interior is very clean and pink and just puffy. Ask for a facial and buy some lipstick- the sweet staff will help you- really they will.  This is the best makeup-style beauty store around.

I love this place! It is my favorite place to buy make-up and skincare products. The owner was very nice and helpful. I liked that she didn't try to sell me any products I didn't need or want. She wasn't pushy, not the slightest bit, like other salespeople could be. It seemed like she genuinely wanted to help me, not try to sell me things. She was also very knowledgeable about the products. She was patient and her explanations were clear. When I needed help picking out the right make-up colors and how to use them, she did an amazing job. I ended up buying everything because I loved the items she picked out and felt I was able to reproduce what she had shown me. I hate going to makeup counters usually because when I ask for something, I hardly ever get it. When I ask for a natural look and something that is easy to do, none of that ever happens. When I told her that was what I wanted, she did exactly that.

I was also impressed by the products offered. While I've heard of some of the brands before, a lot were new to me and it was fun discovering them. There were testers for just about every product. I really like the Nuxe line of skincare products. I also like Napoleon Perdis and theBalm makeup.

The store was cute and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It offered a lot of high-end products without the attitude you could get at lots of other shops. Being there was like visiting a friend and chatting with her about make-up and skincare.

Puff was a great experience and I plan on returning a lot. I have to tell myself every day not to go in, that I don't actually need to buy anything. I just enjoy going.

This shop isn't there anymore, BUT they still do makeup wherever you need them to be. Aimee did both my cousin's wedding makeup this summer. It looked stunning! They were both so happy with her work, and she was so sweet...on time..and fast. I'm having her do my engagement photo's and can't wait!!

Aimee did my makeup and I loved it!  She's super sweet and she really listens to what you want.  I usually don't wear makeup so I was afraid I wouldn't recognize myself.  She did smokey eyes for me and it looked really nice and I still looked like me!

I love love looooooove make-up! I'm always looking for excuses to get my make-up done and if I'm ever in need of retail therapy, make-up products are the items that I tend to pick-up.  However, there have been countless times where I have shopped at Sephora or department store counters and bought products that I didn't necessarily need because I didn't know how to put my foot down and say "NO!" to the pushy MAs.  Furthermore, I always feel uncomfortable asking for advice on how to use products because the MAs try to rush you.  This is not the case at Puff.  I recently went in for the very reasonably priced "Make-up Bag Lesson" ($35) in which you come in with the products that you already have and an MA will show you different looks that you can create with them.  My lesson was with Aimee, the founder of Puff.  She showed me a bunch of new and easy techniques for applying make-up and gave me tons of ideas for eyeshadow color combos that I would never thought of myself (i.e. a forest green cream shadow with aqua eyeshadow layered on top sounds like it would never work but is actually very pretty and flattering).  Best of all, she showed me looks that I could create with products that I haven't been getting much use out off.  Aimee said that my collection was pretty complete and that I didn't need to add anything to it but I still ended up purchasing a berry colored lip-stain (which is so very big for this fall) and an eyeshadow brush.  I heart Puff Beauty Studio and will definitely be back to get my make-up done whenever I have any special events to go to.   Thank you Aimee!
