Kind of hit or miss.  The location is really convenient, but at the same time, when you golf you do kind of want seclusion a bit.  I come here to use the driving range all the time and have no complaints, except that the girl who works there looks like she is going to die of boredom/anger at the same time.  Her rolling her eyes no matter what you say is kinda confusing.

Anyway, the course itself is ok, but certainly not worth the $20 price tag for a weekday round of golf.  You can play at Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club for somewhere in the 30s and that is a par 72 compared to this par 30.  I would play here all the time if it was 10-15.  It really isn't worth a whole lot more than that.

There are a lot of executive 9 holes in the Bay Area that are well kept and organized. I would come here to hits a few balls, but i would not play here.

This place is a joke... $20 flat rate no matter what time you play. The customer service is horrible, don't give a care about patrons. It's like they see them self working in a country club or something and we interrupted them from doing nothing.

The course itself is okay, they did redo the tees box, but the green is really, really, really soft and slow.

Pruneridge isn't the worst, nor is it the best.  They get 3 stars for their driving range, which is covered, lighted, and double-decker, but only 2 stars overall for the course.  It's a 9-hole course with holes that vary in length from 100-350 (-ish) yards.  It's best to play on weekdays during the day, as on weekends, every yahoo who owns a golf club will be out there - paid or not.  I'm no Tiger Woods - far, FAR from it - but I appreciate when people at least attempt to follow golf etiquette.

Example:  If you happen to be playing in a twosome behind a Dad, his 2 7-year-old boys, and their 7 year-old friend who are shooting in the low 10's on any give par 3, don't expect you'll be asked to play through.  It probably won't even cross their mind that you've been waiting in the tee box for 10 minutes with 2...wait, now 3...groups backed up behind you while they chip back and forth from one side of the green to another.  Argh!

Another thing that Pruneridge needs to work on is the staff out on the course.  The bev cart is driven by an old man, and he seems to like to hang out around #4 in the shade.  That is, he hangs out until my group finishes on the 3rd green, and then he drives towards #5.  What!?

On another occasion, the group ahead of me was putting on the 2nd green while a greenskeeper was watering the fringe grass around the green (had to have been annoying to the group putting).  As soon as they were done, the kid with the hose dragged it (the hose) across the
green WHILE the hose was still gushing water!  Um...what the?

All in all, it's a fine place to smack a little white ball around if you've got nothing better to do and $20 to part with, but you won't be treated much better than at your average putt-putt course or Dave & Busters.

The course is uncomfortably close to traffic and wraps around some condos, but it's nice enough. The girl at the desk was nice and gave me some discount coupons for the driving range when I told her I was a new golfer.

Pros:
conveniently located, driving range is lit and is open till around 9:30pm during the summer.

recently renovated tee boxes and greens.

patio and restaurant-ish type place next to the pro shop where you can order anything from breakfast burritos to steak.

there's a nice old guy who sits in a golf cart on the 4th tee that sells beer (and other beverages).

went out by myself a few times and got paired with other flights.  i've always gotten really nice, laid back people. nobody too serious about the game, and no loud a-holes...yet!

Cons:
-Super short course, which makes it:
-way too expensive for what it is.
-easy to lose your ball to the street.  be ready to hit cars and get sued if you suck.
-lots of people learn golf at this course because it's so short. this means lots of waiting and congestion on the course, and some gnarly divots (although they're getting better at maintaining the fairway).  there aren't any carts, and people usually walk pretty slow.

I've never actually been golfing here, but I heard and it looks fairly small.

The thing I use here the most is the driving range. Its a two leveled facility and is pretty nice! You have to buy the tee separately, which is lame.

The price for driving balls are very reasonable. I would usually take my balls to the second level and just hammer the balls with the driver. those things FLY and make a difference if you're up there! Don't get caught though! ur not supposed to do it haha

**This review is for the Free Kids Golf Lessons**

I have been taking my son to these golf lessons for about a month now.  He loves it.  The lessons are offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.   They are given by the two "pros" that work at Pruneridge.  The instructors are very nice and patient with the kids.  Because these lessons are on a drop in basis you never know how many kids there are going to be.  There could be 2 or there could be 12 per instructor.  No matter what the class size is they manage to keep things under control.

Some of the things that they teach the kids are.  Proper stance, hand placement, swing, putting, chipping, driving, golf/course rules and etiquette.  Each lesson is concentrated on one thing putting, chipping, or driving.  Depending on how crowded the class is determines how many tries/turns each kid gets.

Since we have been going from the beginning of December the class sizes have been around 7-8 kids.  I believe my son has benefited from these lessons, but you have to remember that there isn't really very much one on one time.  After each class I usually let my son hit a bucket of balls at the range or continue putting on the practice greens so he can get a little more time on what he just learned.

Pruneridge offers these free lessons hoping that you will sign your child up for additional lessons (not free) but there is absolutely NO pressure or time limit to do so.  I will continue taking my son to the free lessons until he has "maxed out" what he can learn from them, if he still enjoys golf and wants to continue then I will sign him up for additional lessons.

Not bad at all.  Finally had a chance to stop by here after living in the area for awhile now.  Originally was just going to work on some practice at the range, which btw is top notch -- 2 levels (yes, pun intended).  I lucked out and came across someone leaving so I didn't get to check out the top level.  Pricing is reasonable but what I like best are the separate stalls, atleast in the lower level, which gave a sense of privacy.  I quickly worked through a medium bucket (~40 balls for $4) and decided to give the 9 hole executive course a shot.  Chatted with the guy behind the shop counter and he was able to let me walk on right away, granted this was early in the afternoon on a weekday.  Overall, the course is not too challenging.  There are a few tight fairways, but they are all straight.  It's a fairly short course; I used my driver at the 3rd and 9th holes only.  I could've teed off w/driver on the 4th hole (~275 yards) but opted for the fairway wood considering the tight fairway.  All other holes were less than 175 yards, if I remember correctly.  The conditions were about average; greens were fairly straightforward and ran as expected.  Difficulty-wise, the course is suited more for beginners, but it makes for good practice on one's approach game for intermediate and above skilled players.  I'll definitely be back here again, moreso for the driving range, but I'll hit up the course every now and then.

I play this course when I have to but I'm never really excited for it.  At $22 dollars (weekend rate) its the most expensive of the pitch and putt courses I play (the others being Sunken Gardens and Santa T's Par 3 course) and the least enjoyable for me.  Sorry, but I can't get stoked about a golf course where two major roads (that often cause me commute headaches) come into play (San Thomas Expwy and Heading)  Ok, I know what you're saying, "if you're going to put the ball on San Thomas on Hole #3, you're not good enough to be Yelp!ing golf courses."  True.  I'm proud to say I'm many years away from thinking I my have caused an accident due to an arrant t-shot on this course (when I miss, I miss to the right) but I still would prefer to play golf somewhere where at least I can't HEAR and SEE  the hustle and bustle of the valley even if it's right around the corner.

I love Pruneridge!. I used to come here all the time but it's been a long time since I've been here since golf is a really expensive sport and the last few times I've gone golfing was at Sunken Gardens in Sunnyvale but I'll be back again here soon. The driving range is great, I love how it has a upper deck and a lower deck. The golf course is mainly par 3's so it's perfect for beginners. I've had all my golf lessons here with the PGA head teaching pro Mike Bricker, I definitely recommend him for all your golf lessons.

I only went to the driving range, so I can't speak to the course itself.  But the driving range was very cramped.  They had two mats next to one another and then a wooden fence separating them from other combinations of mats.  The problem was, the mats and the fences were so close together that you were in constant fear of either hitting the fence or your neighbor on your back-swing.

Other then that, it is two-tiered and seems well maintained, so not bad.  Also, if you don't have your own irons they let you borrow some of their older ones for free.  The selection isn't too great, but its free, so you can't really complain.

I'll start with the positives and then go through the negatives.  It's all about expectations.  This course is a tad bit tougher than Blackberry but is pretty much the same deal.  There's a two-tier driving range that is pretty nice to have.  One nice touch is an old couch for observers to sit on while they watch people swinging.

Now on to the negatives...oh and there are alot.  First of all, the practice green leaves something to be desired.  Cmon now, at least have some holes there!  Anybody looking to work on their short game other than putting is SOL.  The fairways and greens are shoddy at best.  I feel like I'm playing soccer sometimes.  I also get concerned when I see that the roads are so close to the 1st hole.  I can't tell you how many of my friends accidentally pulled their shots into the road...definitely would look out for that if you're driving.

2 stars is very generous for this course.

on a rainy days, if you still want to take your butt out to
hit some balls, this is the place to be.  the range here
has a roof!.

1st floor, you can hit any of the clubs.

2nd floor, you're restricted to irons.

108balls = $12
72 balls = $8
36 balls = $5 *correction*

note: you purchase the bucket at the store counter.
they will provide you with a pin# where you enter into
the machine to get your balls.

Went here at lunch today to get my driving on with Christina B., to realize that I really sucked after not playing for a year and a half and also that people go to play and be all zen. But I chatted up a storm to annoy fellow golfers and have them move away.

So in essence, I love the driving range. And they are really renovating the place and the people are friendly when you are getting the basket of ball tickets. The place was well manicured and it was easy to find everything. So out of like 36 balls I think i had like 10 decent shots, and that is good enough for me. Besides, it's nice to take a break from work, and it wasn't too busy for lunch. I'd come back again.

I am a danger to all golfers everywhere, but I've seen worse things happen here.  Pruneridge features a 9-hole golf course which has a few long holes but a bunch of *really* short ones!  The result is that if you're teeing off of #5 be careful!  I literally saw someone get whacked in the head by a stray ball from the #4 tee---the person overshot the green by a little bit.  The top deck of the driving range is sheltered.  There is also plenty of parking, but you might have a bit of a stroll to the clubhouse from the lot.

This is my review of the Visual Golf teaching system at Pruneridge.

I've taken golf lessons on-and-off with various instructors without much success until I met with Frank Sclimenti and the Visual Golf system.  Visual Golf is basically a high-speed camera that records your swing.  Often, what you feel is no where near what you're actually doing.  Seeing it on tape helps correct those nasty swing flaws.

Working with Frank for the past couple of years has helped my swing greatly.  He explains things well.  He's more of technical rather than feel teacher, but I think that's a result of the Visual Golf system being so "mechanical".  Only gripes?  The lessons have increased in price and are a tad expensive and they are in Santa Clara instead of Los Altos (further from me!)

Finally, I can confirm that the new management is installing a grass range and pitching area.

Gosh?  Did this sound like an advertisement?!  Just a happy customer I guess.

A number of people have already talked about the driving range facilities, so I'll just talk about the course.  I've played here about 5 times over the past 3 years.

A par-3 course with 4 Par-4s (2 are easily driveable).  While most par-3 courses are designed to instill confidence in new golfers, this one is a little strange.  For instance, #8 has overgrown trees on both sides just begging to eat even the slightest of offhit shots.  #5 requires that you fire your tree shot directly at unprotected townhomes which has a tendency to scare newer less controlled golfers.  After a heavy rain, the course is soaked for at least a week.  Lots of dead stuff and dirt, but thankfully the fairways and greens are in decent shape.

I've HEARD that they are going to upgrade the driving range.  It needs it.  There is a bar/restaurant with typical golf course food/quality.

While it can get extremely crowded on weekends, I would be fibbing if I said I had to wait more than 10 minutes to tee off, and I've never shown up with a reserved tee time.  They seem to manage the tee times well.  While the course does back up, I have only seen a major back-up one time, albeit due to some older ladies playing that day.

Great place to take your kids to learn as they have a set of children's tees on every hole which make it a pleasant experience for them.

Meh.  An average Bay-Area driving range/executive course.  I can't believe the area can support so many of this type of place.

The range is a standard mediocre astroturf style place.  I don't see how anyone can improve their game hitting off a surface that you will never encounter during an actual round.

It gets 3 stars instead of 2 because it has large practice putting greens, one of which you can chip to.  Unfortunately the chipping area is in poor shape.

Apparently it has new owners who have promised to improve the place, but unless they plan on bringing in a grass practice surface, I won't be impressed.

Ok, I have no idea what people think giving this place anything more than two stars.  It is a total dump.  It is 9 holes of hitting off of dirt, slow greens, etc.  There are huge areas of dirt on many fairways and the tee boxes aren't well maintained.  I give it two stars ONLY because it fills the need for lower priced golf in the area.  But for nearly half the price, I would recommend Rancho Del Pueblo.  Pruneridge is in a waaaay nicer neighborhood but Rancho is a waaaay better course.

We got to the driving range at 8:30PM. The range closed at 9:00PM. We split a bucket of jumbo balls. It was great. The driving range is two tiered and has a standard 250 yd. field. The lower level is allowed to have rubber tees, the upper level is not. You can buy a tee for $1 or if you're me, you can use one for free. The price is pretty average and the people are pretty helpful. Lots of lot parking at night. Not sure about the day time.

Pruneridge provides a good service, being a conveniently located quick play.  However, the place is pretty booty for the price and there are some serious safety issues.

$20 for nine holes during the week, yet the course needs quite a bit of maintenance, watering and TLC.  For the price, Santa Teresa's short course, Deep Cliff, and Blackberry are much better plays, all offering better maintained courses, better prices and gorgeous settings.

Also, at these other courses, the worst thing that can happen from an errant drive is that the golfer has to go chase his ball into another fairway, tail between his legs.  Last week, at Pruneridge, I was a couple minutes late to a tee-time with a buddy and I was paired with three strangers.  First guy steps up to tee, and hooks his drive crazy left and out onto Saratoga Ave.!  Honking horns and brake lights ensue, but thankfully no accidents.  He does the same thing on the second tee, but this time out onto San Tomas.  Then the second guy in our party does the same thing!  I've driven down San Tomas at 40-50MPH many times, and can't imagine how catastrophic it'd be to have a golf ball hit your windshield when you're driving this speed.  I have no idea how Pruneridge has been around for this long without putting netting up along the roads.  On the seventh hole, one of the guys sent his drive straight left, deep into the apartment complex that lines the fairway.  Luckily, I didn't hear the sound of any crashing glass!  The icing on the cake is that I was walk down the ninth hole after hitting my drive, I got nailed in my arm by a ball that came through the netting from the driving range that faces right into the 9th hole fairway.  Ouch.

I consider Pruneridge my "home" course,if you will, since it's the one course I've played at the most times - and darn it I still can't conquer it! grrrr!!    I like this course because of it's mix of long and short holes.  However, with recent renovations, they shortened hole #1 to a Par 3 thus leaving 3 holes of 200 plus yards.  Fairways are somewhat narrow and tree lined....which may hinder you or help you depending on how lucky you are.   Watch out for the last hole, for as you walk on the fairway don't be surprised to see stray balls come flying at you from your right since this hole borders the driving range and people somehow find a way to hit OVER the netting.  Unfortunately, they won't yell FORE to warn you.    Overall, with it's recent renovations (new restaurant, grass hitting area) Pruneridge is a "definite try".

On the third hole, I hit my head on a tree and had to go to the ER for six staples.  The staples hurt.  The anestesia hurt.  The cleaning of the wound hurt.  I was in lots of pain.

Ohh yeah, the course is ok too.  If you're a good player avoid it.  If you suck, like me, then it's fun.

I can't emphasize enough how much the cleaning of the wound hurt.

If you don't mind paying more for balls, hit off a mat instead of real grass and a few spots in your lungs, Pruneridge is more accessible than Los Lagos or Cinnabar.  All you do is pick one of the driving mats and invariably you'd be situated in between golfers with cigarettes in their mouth and blowing out their unsolicited carcinogen- filled smoke into your lungs.

I have only driven at this course, so I can't speak for the 9 hole course they have.  The price for buckets are 4,8 and 12 for 36,72, and 108 balls respectively.  Compared to the other ranges I've been to locally (Sunken Gardens in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara Municipal) this is the most expensive.  It's usually very crowded and you can only get a space on the second level, which sucks.  Plus most of the mats you drive off are not good quality.  If you want a simple and cheap range go to Sunken Gardens.  If you want a nicer course (and still cheaper) go to Santa Clara.
