6 reviews for Prospect Park
If there are 5 Top picnic spots downtown, this is one of them.
The view is great up here.
Great place to bring your brown bag lunch. Relax and feed the squirrels and filthy pigeons. Stare out over the city, or lie in the grass away from the dog poo and stare at the sky.
Not sure about after sunset. Haven't seen any punks, but there is some evidence of beer bottles. (cheap, crappy beer)
NOTE: The park has a statue of Roger Williams, but this is a FAKE Roger Williams park. There are several Roger Williams parks scattered throughout Providence to make it difficult for you to find the buried pirate treasure.
This well-kept Providence treasure is the perfect spot to enjoy a "Crunchy Leaf Day" all of your own in Fall's kaleidoscopic splendor. Well-established trees offer generous piles of leaves for hours of crunching and jumping! The majestic view of downtown Providence is a treat in itself in the light of day, or in the twinkling night.

Fantastic view of the city, beautiful little park.
The statue of Roger Williams looks like he's scratching. We call him DJ Rog.

It's really hard not to give Prospect Park five stars. Even though the great view is being marred by the condo buildings popping up every other week, it's still a great place to bring an out-of-towner for a view of Providence. The somewhat constant patrolling of cops is a downer but the park does have a curfew so technically, we're not even supposed to be there late at night. But we keep going back even when the cops kick us out because it's a great place to chill. I've met some cool people up there that I'll probably never see again but will always remember all the good times I've had at the park. Also, a good place to watch the fireworks (if Providence ever haves them again).
If you are ever on acid and want a place to chill and look onto a view this is the place for you! The view is killer! When ever anyone from out of town comes (tripping or not) I take them there. It is very 19th century and elegant. Why it is called Prospect Park I am not at sure. Check it out next time you are on acid!
This place is quite nice. It especially wins me over for NOT existing on Prospect St. but rather on Congdon. The park proper is a pretty little enclosed space with a nice view; go one street downhill and then you can take the "secret path" (which is blocked off with a rusty old chain) up to a ledge directly under the enormous statue. Beware the freshmen smoking pot.
