Still in love with this place, and giving all the Mom & Pop places, all the support, during our hard… Read more »
Prosecco is a fabulous Italian restaurant in the Valley, near the Warner Bros. and Disney studios. The decor is very Italian country, and the acoustics are not very good...you may have to strain to hear your dining companion, especially when it the restaurant is busy. But the food is worth the trip.
Order the Grilled Tiger Shrimp which are served in a mascarpone cheese and herb sauce on a bed of soft polenta...oh my god...amazing! And for my entree I ordered the Linguini Pasta with manila clams, bay scallops, arugula & garlic in chardonnay wine herb sauce, and I was very happy with my choice! The pasta was cooked to perfection, the seafood was fresh and tasty. Pair it with some wine, or maybe some prosecco, and it's a perfect meal.
It's wise to make a reservation for lunch, as it gets very busy around 12:30pm.
While the portions were a little small, it made up for it in taste. I ordered the lasagna and it wasn't a huge blob of cheese and unidentifiable ingredients. It was just the right amount of everything. I did something I normally don't do with food. I took my time to taste it. The free bread was a nice touch, but I couldn't find any vinegar, something I would of liked to of had(not an oil fan). The wine was decently priced and went well with our meal. The mistake I did make was not ordering a side salad, as I was still hungry when I was done. It might have been the first time ever I ordered a dessert because of this. Which was fresh and delicious. This is a great place to have a romantic date but dont skip the appetizer part of the meal, or at least a salad or you will leave wanting more. This is a perfect example of chef/owner that knows his food, and its very obvious with every bite.
I will return, there is no doubt about that.
The inside is very small but very cute. We were seated at a small table in the front. It was a nice table but it barely fit all the plates we had. The decor was very cute and a perfect date spot, except that the acoustics were horrible. There was only one table near us but it was soo loud. We had to really raise our voices to hear each other, so it wasn't as romantic as it could have been.
After being seated, we were served bread. It was good, but it wasn't served with butter. : ( There is olive oil on the table but no balsamic vinegar... so extra calories with no flavor.
So then we ordered out wine and entrees. I went with the Chicken Lasagna that many others recommended but wasn't wow'ed. It was okay, but I would try other things on the menu if I went again. My friend got the Arabbiata (penne pasta with sauteed chicken in a spicy herb tomato sauce and topped with crumbled goat cheese). That was very tasty. The food arrived and we still didn't get our wine so I reminded the person who brought our food out. This person wasn't our waiter. In fact, we didn't see our waiter until about 10 minutes after we were done with our meal. That wasn't good. So back to the wine. We finally got our wine about 5 minutes after we received our entrees and the glasses were very warm like they just came out of the dishwasher. So as I was saying about the waiter, he never came by to check on us. When he came over AFTER we were done, he did come by and apologize about the wine mishap, but he should have done it as soon as he found out. But he did give us a free dessert to make up for that. The dessert was the best part of the whole evening. It was a Italian cheese custard drizzled with chocolate and caramel. It was SOOOO good.
Good to know: Make reservations. We went on a Wednesday and it was packed.
We wanted to try a new place Friday evening and came here based on all the great yelp reviews. We stood outside for a moment and commented that it ought to be a great restaurant considering the number of restaurants in the area.
What a truly disappointing experience with our server and the food. We were seated and it took the server a while to get to us for our drink order and the place was not busy - I think her name was Carrie? After our bottle of wine arrived, she seemed to have forgotten about us to take our food order..that took about 10 minutes.
We stared with the corn soup with a crispy prosciutto which was bland and watery. The grilled tiger shrimp w/ mascarpone & polenta was good but nothing memorable. After our starter, it was about 20 - 30 minutes before we got our main which was 2 pastas...nothing really complicated - 1 penne w/ a sun dried tomato/cream sauce & 1 Penne Arrabiata
By the 15 minute mark of no food/service, I looked over to see our server chatting it up with another table for a good 10 minutes. I looked back over at the main counter and saw our food sitting there.
Now, i'm starting to get pissed off.
There was another server who was actually walking around and noticed two plates on the counter ready to go. I saw him look at the ticket, look at the waitress and he was kind enough to bring our food over.
Let me say that during all of this, our server never came by once to check in on us. The penne w/ sundried tomato was good - the Penne Arrabiata was not - just really basic and disappointing.
Our server finally came by to ask if we wanted dessert and we requested the bill. She came back with dessert menus and took another 5 minutes for the check after we told her we were not interested (again).
We will definitely not be coming back.
Boy, we sure have been missing out! Here we have lived in the valley for 6 years and never tried Prosecco!
SO delicious! Great food, great wine choices, great location and an adorable place, to boot.
The staff was really great, helpful and accomodating when you are in a rush.
Try the soup. They always have a great options...we've always been bowled over! :)
We went here for my birthday and the food was wonderful! So tasty..I was in heaven Service was also awesome. I'm a very picky eater and the waiter was so flexible. My food turned out perfect. I would highly recommend this place. Great for date night.
Nice restaurant with very good food. Salmon and Risotto we had were delicious. Wine and desert very good as well. Service friendly however our waiter parked himself by the table of someone he knew and was still chatting when we had to get someone else to fetch our cooling entres.
That aside it is a great place and on our list of Italian favorites along with Far Niente in Glendale and Cafe Opera in Monrovia.
When we have guests come in from out of the area, we like to take them to Prosecco. We know that everyone in our party will be treated with courtesy from the waitstaff. And Eric is a jewel of a host. He is attentive and always fun, never stuffy. We've always enjoyed the wine selection, the extensive menu, and the specials are the best. The interior is warm and inviting. When we dine there it makes us feel as if we are back in Italy.
The boyfriend wanted to try this place so we made reservations. We started with a bottle of wine and munched on some bread and after finally making a decision from all the wonderful looking things on the small menu, I went with the chicken pasta with sun dried tomatoes and the bf got the chicken lasagna (per recommendation from yelp). The portions were smaller than I thought they would be, but the dishes were excellent. They dont have as much on their menu as other places, but I must say that what they do have, they have the cooking down to the T. I think that its better to have a select few items on your menu that you know how to cook rather than having too many items and cook some half ass and some great.. I loved my food, I could taste all the flavors in it and I savored each bite. We got the tiramisu for dessert with gelato and fresh berries - that was gone in no time. The tiramisu didnt taste like it came from a box, it was spongy, cool and fresh. When we left we werent overly stuffed but we were full enough to be satisfied. The staff was all very friendly and I will definitely come back to this place on date nite.
a-m-a-z-i-n-g !!!!!

Love this place!!
My bosses go here on a regular basis and they know their names by heart.
i finally tried it for lunch and it is AMAZING.
The place is bigger than it seems. the staff is very welcoming.
I had the fettuccine with the pork meatballs... wow. i savored every bite. the sauce was amazing, not too much, the pasta aldente, and the meatballs, divine.
The tiramisu is excellent. a little heavy, but still great.
Con: Street parking.
Prosecco's is perfecto! I had the chicken ravioli, yummy yummy yummy. The waiter was really nice along with the staff, My fiance had a meal with shrimp, calamari; it was some kind of pasta mixture smelled and tasted great. We ordered the italian soda, what a delight! To end a great meal I ordered the cappuccino and my fiance and I shared a decadent brownie with ice cream and espresso. it was great I am so glad we went to try this restaurant... can't wait to go back :)
Prosecco has some good vegetarian options. The soup of the day was a vegetarian spinach soup and it tasted like delicious creamed spinach but was a little on the pricey side (those $6 disappeared rather quickly). The warm portabella mushroom salad was pretty good, but could have used more flavoring (in the way of italian herbs) and the gorgonzola cheese was a little overpowering. The gemelli pasta with a garlic/olive oil sauce was tasty but I think I could have made it just as well at home. The cappuccino I had at the end of my meal was very very good - the espresso tasted delicious and the edge of the cup was dusted with cinnamon & nutmeg so every sip was scented with goodness.
Basically the soup and cappuccino were pretty awesome, and everything else was pretty normal.
I have been coming to this establishment for 10 plus years. I must say that the reason for not Yelping earlier is because of pure selfishness. Sometimes you want the best to yourself. Sue me. I'm writing now. Let's start with the staff. I challenge you to find a restaurant in Los angeles who has maintained it's front as well as back of house staff for as long as this restaurant has. Why do I know this? Because they are all there and visible to greet and be greeted when you walk in. That is a testament to the management. Wines selection. Impeccible! You'd like something cooked to order (i.e. I'm allergic to shrimp, but I love the polenta in the shrimp and polenta app) no problem, they'll make a quick suggestion, or if you are like me, you'll say "surprise me". I especially like to come here when I'm feeling like being bad. I'll order the Fettucini and meatballs....OMG! So much food. Take my word for it and drop in. Tell anyone working there that Felix sent you.
Just to be clear, I'm giving 2 stars for the food but 4 stars for the service. The caprese salad claimed that it had buffalo mozzarella on it, but when it came out any foodie worth their salt would have recognized those little boccacini balls were not from buffalo milk. The steamed clams had to be the worst of the night. Not only were they overcooked and chewy, but they're served with a heavy tomato based pasta sauce. Perhaps the one for their lasagna. Who could taste the clams? Finally the lobster and spinach ravioli was a let down. To their credit, it seems they make their own pasta but too much spinach made it bitter. Oh yeah, and for an Italian restaurant the bread they serve was tasteless.
I love good service and the service here was great. The environment is warm and Italian-ish. Probably won't be back for dinner, but maybe a glass of wine.
Its not bad, and its not amazing. Its just good.
The service was confusing since several of the 3 or four wait-staff approached us as the meal went on, apparently they like the team waiting theory.
The coffee was decent, and the food was more than edible but less than astounding.
Anyway. I would return but not seek it out.
The decor is sorta garden party meets roman pallazo. White table clothes, nice silver, painted garden walls... Not bad.
Great food and terrific service. The chicken lasanga was terrific.
Prosecco is a hidden gem in the heart of Toluca Lake- from the warm "Hello, how are you today?" to the "Bye, enjoy your day. Take care" you are taken care of and treated as family. I love, love, love this place and frequent it often for lunch! If you are looking for a great neighborhood haunt...you're in luck, for you have found it.
I'd give it a 3.5, not because I didn't like it, but because I don't want to rate everything too high or you won't believe me!
After being at the Strawberry Fest. in hundred degree weather in Oxnard, we just wanted to get back to Toluca Lake and have a quiet dinner in a quaint Italian joint. Pretty good.
Three of us split a $22 bottle of chianti (cheapest on the menu) which was tasty and the fiery red-haired waitress was great. The ambiance was cheap but comfy and on a Saturday night it was less filled with couples and more groups and families. Between us we had spicy chicken penne, warm chicken salad with cucumbers and grapes (very good combo) and chicken lasagna. It all reminded me of comfort food.
I can't believe I'm the first one to rate this place! Yay, well this is a great lil neighborhood spot. Usually packed at lunch (make reservations) since all of the studio folk go here and nice and romantical at dinner, this is a beautiful place to enjoy a good Italian meal.
Some of the menu standouts are:
--the CHICKEN lasagna...good lord, this is AMAZING!
--the corn risotto...YUMMM
--the smoked chicken salad
And most of their specials are yummy! Plus the menu is big and interesting enough that you can try new things and it never really gets old.
Another charm about this place is the wait staff and host have been there for a long time and really know what they are talking about. The wine list is awesome and if you are celebrating or simply having a liquid lunch or my favorite (ladies of leisure get togetha), then get the Prosecco sparkling wine, mmm doggy (did I just say mmm doogy?!)
Safe to say I have probably been here a good 30 times now and I have never had a bad experience..and this coming from a girl who knows her food.
Nutshell: Friendly service, delicious food, nice and comfortable, reasonable prices.
Blowout: We keep intending to go here and keep ending up someplace else. So the other night, despite the fact that we were lounging around in our robes and slippers, we threw on some glad rags and headed out.
Glad we did!
The staff was super-friendly, helpful and attentive. The menu? Not cutting edge but sometimes you really don't want "Wasabi crusted something with a something else essence and some kind of puree". Prosecco features good solid Italian restaurant selections like Caprese salad, Penne Arabiata and Panna Cota (delicious by the way).
Everything we ordered was delicious and served with just the right amount of attentiveness. The prices are reasonable and the portions are right on.
This is a nice, neighborhood place where you'll feel instantly comfortable and will end the night feeling like you've gotten an excellent value.
Have fun!
My experience here was one of the best I've ever had in an upscale Italian restaurant. Great service, wine, food, dessert & ambiance.
Treat yourself ;)
Did you know that Prosecco is listed in Zagat's 2008 guide to "America's 1000 Top Italian Restaurants"? Do you know how many Italian restaurants there are in America? 'Nuff said.
Don't kill the messenger; I have a different standard of evaluating restaurants than most. Just as I don't give extra credit to a gorgeous actress who's playing the role of, well, a gorgeous actress, I don't give extra credit to a dining establishment that creates a 20% better dish than it's competitor who serves that dish for 50% less price.
Example: the Penne Arrabiata, which so many rave about on this site, was good. In fact, it was very good. Not great however and at about double the price of what might be "good" elsewhere for half the price. The standard recipe for "arrabiata" typically includes about equal amounts of tomatoes to penne. At Prosecco, the tomatoes were little to none but the garlic was heavy handed as was the butter and olive oil. This was a very "heavy" dish, which gave me indigestion through the night and into the morning. Typically this dish is made with pork, a much more flavorful meat than the chicken substituted here. Perhaps the chef felt he had to compensate for the mildness of chicken. I don't know.
But what I do know is I don't expect indigestion for a $65 / person meal. There were twelve of us, a birthday. No one was unhappy. Like I said, it tasted very good. The decor was friendly, like a little house and we ate in it's "dining room." The wait staff was flawless without being pretentious.
The venison was a better choice. No gamy flavor at all. Succulent without being over seasoned. The "white fish" (they never explained "which" white fish) was also succulent. That's good considering I ate at Il Cielo last week, more famous & more pricey, and their whitefish was a bit dry and unflavorful. Every salad was very good. Again, not great but very good.
All said, please understand that for me to give 5-stars to a place, the food has to be stellar taste AND quality, the service flawless AND it must be a VALUE even if it's a $100 dollars a plate. I guess I rate things more like ZAGAT's would.
That said, if you just don't expect the food to be priced accordingly and don't expect a top Michelin gourmet experience, I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this place.
great little hide out place near Burbank.
I say little, but there is nothing little about it..Very cozy, friendly and affordable. I like the ambiance, smell, location, decor, etc.
My experience there was nice, except my friends did not like our waitress, they though she was being pushy, etc.,
I liked her......maybe because no one pushes me? HA!
The service was otherwise great....conservative place, nice, quiet,...i could not hear the music....maybe we were loud? I will go there again...sorry these days...i miss THE KITCHEN's great taste...i altough the food here was ok....the bruschetta from the kitchen takes a first place... i go to these places to see if i find a great plate, but so far..no.....
Maybe my palate is changing or aging? NO!
Or i am becoming more and more particular......did i mention i cook?
maybe that is why....
I love the smell or garlic....in the kitchen...but i dont seem to find it in the plate....very bad...
I recommend this place, mostly for the ambiance, the wine selection and conversation.
I will go back...but just for a pseudo dinner.
Ciao
I must be in a real pissy mood 'cause I'm just not findin' the love from any of the restaurants. Nice set up. But it goes down hill from there. Can do so much better.
Failed the Marsala test. Failed the simple pasta test. Knowing that a much better Miceli's is over the river makes me sad.
I've been here a couple times trying all sorts of things and the chicken lasagna is by far my favorite. The service is always friendly and wonderful!
This is one of my absolute fav restaurants in Toluca Lake. We have since moved and I really miss it. The staff there is amazing and so nice. The atmosphere is very romantic and sweet. The food there is really good and they also have a great wine selection.
We have been going here for about ten years. The food is always great, nice wine selection and wonderful staff who always makes you feel welcome. It's a nice place to go with friends or on a date with your significant other. My favorite is the pasta with herb-infused meatballs and the Prosecco salad is a nice light, "clean" and crisp. Oh and don't forget the tiramisu...so yummy.
Prosecco never fails me. I'm dreaming of the Penne Aribiata right now; goat cheese, penne and a yummy spicy sauce sounds oh so good. Its great for clients, friends or a secret rendez vous.
The citysearchers LOVE this place so we went for Valentines, wanting something close and low key and not doing a special menu.
It has an interesting space with separate rooms. The one we were in was a little too brightly lit, but it had a cool feel, like a dining room in a classy home.
We had mussels which had an interesting, almost Indian flavored tomato sauce. Then we both had the beef loin medallions special. I assumed they would be tenderloin medallions for $25, but if they were they were the driest tenderloin ever to grace the earth. The gorgonzola sauce was really yummy, and the beef was still good, just not butter-tender as expected. I'm guessing they were sirloin medallions or something.
Service was definitely top notch, and the food was pretty good but we probably won't be back. What really sealed the deal was for one app, 2 entrees, and 2 glasses of wine (they don't have a full bar so my husband didn't drink) our bill was almost $120 with tip. I'm not adverse to spending that for a great meal, but for what we got, it just wasn't worth it. But the place clearly has a local following and they don't need my business anyway!
It was our 2nd Anniversary and we tried this restaurant bec. it was close to our home. Their ambience is nice, very smooth but their surround music was a bit odd. It's like your in a spa kind'a like lol...so I had decided to order the linguini misto mare, and my husband ordered pasta too. First, we had salad and wine......it was great that they didn't charge us the fee cuz we brought our own red wine! That was a bonus! Salad was great! Bread was awesome! Our food came, and when I was about to have my first bite on my linquini ........oh boy! here comes the long ..........long...........gritty hair on my pasta!!!!!!!!!!!!eeccckkkkkkk!!!!!!That was so nasty lol!!!! And for some reason, my reflex went like this while I was pulling that hair in my mouth.........I go come here!.........I mean to the waiter..........see this it's a hair!!!!!!!he goes.......oh I'm sorry.......don't worry they'll make you another one..........I go.........do you mean that I have to wait..........cuz my hubby starts eating his food already lol! he's a hungry boy! hahah lol! waiter goes...........we'll what do you want me to do? I said.....okay......I'll wait then........there is no apology at all........and he basically said that it's no one's hair........cuz it is all guys that is in the back room...........like DUH????it's not like I had to brush my hair and wanna eat my hair on my pasta lol! So my experienced on this place is very SAD!!!! They are not clean! I mean, they should protect themselves on this things you know! We paid the bill..............and still gave em a good tip...........but I don't know if I wanna come back again!!!
This is why Zagat (a 25 food rating) is not to be trusted 100%. We ordered the Cappelini al dente, what we got was an almost mushy overcooked pasta with a tasteless (almost no salt) Pomodoro sauce. The Linguine with Manila clams were a little better, but still almost tasteless. On the other side, the spinach with garlic was salty. One bite of pasta then one of the spinach and the contrast was short of disastrous. Very good Rack of Lambs. Average Bresaola and Salads. Tiramisu that really was like a caramel pound cake...not bad, but not really Tiramisu. Service: The manager-waiter (Spikey Hair) and the busboy...only two of them for 8~9 tables, and they were doing the work as smoothly, friendly, professionally as 5~6 average ones together...just amazing! (He didn't charge us for the Capellini-Thank you!).
