This is one of the best pizza delivery restaurants .  It seems that when you order larger pizzas, the crust turns out better.  The veggie matic and nutty gonzo are great for vegetarians.   I prefer the meatzilla!  Fast delivery and good food makes it 4 stars for me.  I am not fond of their wings.

Def. "meh." Really nice effort with creative toppings, but for some reason they just don't really work out. To be fair, I ordered the Desi pizza which has a tikka sauce, so maybe their more standard pizzas are less shrug-worthy. Also, it took about two hours for my pizza to be delivered. I received a phone call apologizing for the delay, but a discount would have been better!

I don't know what possessed me to order the chicken wings, but they are so greasy it made me feel sick. Probably standard for a chicken wing, but just putting it out there.

I will not be ordering from them again.

Delicious pizza! We had it delivered to our hotel room. They were prompt and the pizza was still nice and hot when they arrived. I like that this place has a lot of options. You'll definitely find something for everyone here. We got a pizza with vegetables and sausage. The vegetables were fresh and delicious, and the pizza was extra cheesy. The portions are pretty big too. Nom nom!

This pizza is my boyfriend's favorite and is quickly becoming one of my favorites as well. I have only had a few of their specialty pizzas, but I like that you can order all their pizzas with a wheat crust. I like ordering versus eating slices in store, because these seem to be more greasy...so if that's what you're going for, go for that option :-) The staff is always friendly and accomodating. Service is prompt for delivery and have only had issues once with online ordering. Definitely give this place a try if you would like pizza with some stellar ingredient combos!

If these guys play their cards right these guys could be the next Pot Belly's.  Product is excellent.  Sandwiches, salads, soups and pizza are all fantastic.  Matter of fact, I'd say their sandwiches are better than Pot Bellys... My offices are right around the corner and gald to have them in the hood.  Quick, convenient, reasonable and tasty.  Location is next to or attached to a gas station but what can you do....I can muti task when I'm there. Another plus is there's always a newspaper(s) there to look at while I wait for my food.

Used to really enjoy this place.  Have had this pizza delivered about 10-15 times in the past, however, when I called yesterday to order was informed that I was outside of their delivery area.  No answer was provided why they had delivered to me so many times in the past.  Seems like a bad business practice to either flat out change your delivery boundaries or finally start to enforce them once you have already gained a loyal customer,  but I will never be back.

Now to find a good pizza place that delivers to Roscoe Village...

While I still have not been back here, I must say that I received a very kind email from management last night taking responsibility for their lack of action as well as an apology.  Any business that takes responsibility for their actions, or in this case, lack there of, has my respect.  Due to my "incident" or horribly embarassing moment, they have put an action plan in place in case that happens again.  (Hopefully it wont be me!)  While I no longer work near there I am taking the ban off of Pronto 'Za.

    Cheers!

I go to this place somewhat often because its across the street from my work and its the only decent pizzeria within a mile.  That being said, this isn't the best pizza I've ever had.  Its rather average but not for the normal reasons.  The creativity of topping combinations and variety of on demand slices offered are off the charts.  I recommend the Great Scott as a pizza with walnuts can NEVER be bad.  Unfortunately for the Great Scott, and the Meatzilla, and everything else, the ingredients used are average.  The sauce isn't anything special and there seems to be an aversion to add spices.  We all expect some oregano or basil in the sauce and on top of the cheese, don't we?  All of that aside, the food is reasonably priced and the service is pleasant enough.  Its good in a pinch, as my somewhat frequent trips here would show.  Its just not worth going out of your way for.

Be brave and stop here. I understand two hurdles this pizza joint faces. 1. They are located across the street from Cabrini Green public housing buildings. 2. They are located next to a gas station. With all of this in mind, I, personally, NEVER would have stopped here if it wasn't for my friend who referred me here. Let me serve as your referral!

This pizza is amazing. Slices come out of the oven quickly. The slices are ginormous. I can only eat one slice and, even then, I am filled to the MAX.

The owner seems to be right there every time I have been in. They are friendly enough to help you find exactly the right menu item for you. Last time I was there, they gave me a sliver of their BBQ Chicken Pizza topped with Sweet Baby Rays to taste because I had been asking about. Yummers!

TIP: Go on Friday so you can get a slice of the Great Scott. Best Pizza Ever

    Just go.

Price-wise it's super rad.  Taste-wise it's equally super rad.  I don't think you'll find a tastier deal in the Chicagoland area when it comes to pizza.  It's not typical stuffed pizza, but that doesn't discount it in any way.  It comes a bit greasy at times, but it's pizza, not granola... you aren't eating it for it's health value.

    Best lunch deals.  Period.

Plenty of other options if you don't dig 'za... commie!

    Cheers!

Their pizza is good- usually...a few times it's been a bit more grease than toppings- their gourmet pizzas are tasty, I wish they had them as daily slices more often, usually whenever I pop over they don't.

    THREE WORDS: apple walnut salad.

    So freakin' good!

I could eat it each day- I make my own at home thanks to them..which probably speaks for a lack of culinary creativity on my part, but I'm not a cook, I just eat out a lot....or something.

I also am not a huge fan of the flat, NYS pizza, but for it's style, it's a-okay.

    Oh. Em. Gee.

As a native Chicagolander, I must admit I was slightly hesitant about trying the pizza, due to my undying loyalty of stuffed pizzas. But when I saw some colleagues with a slice, I was intrigued.

During a lunch break, I took a walk over to Pronto 'Za and noticed they have a lunch deal of a slice of pizza (the size of your plate) a cookie or a side and a drink for 5.95. After tax its $6.12. $6.12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Considering the size of the pizza and the fact that you can get any kind for lunch that they have hot and ready to inhale, its a fantastic deal.

The only downside is the amount of grease. It requires several napkins to dab the grease away from the smoldering cheese.

However, overall, it is delicious, foldable and usually if I am feeling extra hungry attempt two pieces, but that has yet to really be accomplished.

    Bad news: My fridge broke.
Good news: Eating out was no longer a guilty pleasure, but a necessity due to the lack of all perishables. I don't like cereal without milk and half my meals were Morningstar products, yogurt and cheese. If I were lactose intolerant, I'd be dead by now.

Anyways, ordering online made delivery from Pronto 'Za super easy. We did a half Texican and a half Blue Ribbon Chicken on a 14inch wheat crust - we even had the option of ordering "well done" (although who would ever order pizza rare is mindboggling to me).

So well done, crispy crust pizza with mexican flavors on one side and french on the other - for the date and me, it was a meal that salvaged the evening. Warning: the Texican is the epitome of a "Susan Boyle" - don't judge books by their covers! The thing looks like a tranny mess, and not in a hot way. But mmm, it tastes delicious.

Perhaps I can work on a standing order with Pronto. I'll save the results of that negotiation for another review.

    Well, damn.

I walked in. 8:30. Door says they close at 9pm.

    Me: "Hi."
    Counter guy: "We're closed."
    Me: "Oh, it says 9pm."
Counter guy: "Oh, yeah, no. We're closed."

Me (to myself): Eh, too bad for you guys.

BLAH. If you close at 830 (which I highly doubt), lock the door.

So it's time to rethink this one. Since giving this place a respectable but not all that flattering three stars, I couldn't help but think about this each time I went back. And back. And back. And back...

Needless to say, I go here a lot. Sometimes as often as four times a week. And yes, that's largely because it's so close to where I work. But proximity doesn't change the fact that their sandwiches are ambrosia.

Since my review I've tried the pizza again and still maintain that it's pretty nasty. But the sandwiches... oh the sandwiches! My original review did mention how great they were, but I now think it's unfair to penalize the place so harshly because half of what they make tastes like something off the lunch lady's reject pile. Ignore the fact that this place even makes pizza and what you've got on your hands is a fantastic sandwich shop.

I've had a handful of the flavorful sandwiches on the menu, about half of the dozen or so, but the Chicken Chipotle (CCS to us insiders) is my true love. In the past few months alone I've eaten dozens of those things and I still can't get over how borderline-junkie-kick-me-in-the-face-trade-my-fir st-born delicious it is. It's almost a shame as it keeps me from ordering the other sandwiches on the menu. I feel slightly personally responsible for the rise but unfortunate fall of the short-lived "What the Chuck?". But that's a different story altogether.

Should such a need ever arise, I would likely push an old lady down a flight of stairs if she got between me and my beloved CCS. I only keep this review from five stars because the sandwich is a little pricy for how big it is (not very). Still, should the day come when I find myself in a position to need to request a last meal, I know my choice. It's me and the CCS to the goddamn end. I have Pronto 'Za to thank.

Pronto 'Za.  More like SLOW 'Za.

    Seriously.

Yet another pizza delivery debacle.  I don't know what on Earth constitutes a pizza taking nearly 2 hours to deliver, but it is the second time this has happened in the past couple weeks.  Yes, I know they are filming a movie in the DePaul neighborhood on the way to my apartment, but I drive in this city, too, and can maneuver the side streets like a madman.  Maybe that is why I am so bitter about this.

I will admit that the pizza (Chicken Pesto on wheat crust) was very good and I had a hard time not eating my entire half.  Everything on the menu looked great and more likely than not I will try them out again to find a favorite.

However, if you are going to have "Pronto" in your name, you better live up to the title.

*I forgot to note.  After writing this review the manager at the restaurant actually looked up my order and called the line we ordered it from (I was at a friends) to offer a pizza on the house if I called within two weeks.  I didn't end up calling, but that speaks positive volumes for their customer service.

Pronto 'Za... if my stomach had arms with tiny little hands it would salute you!

First of all, the pizza was hot, fresh and delivered bang on time.  The delivery guy smiled and was pleasant during our transaction (always a nice touch).  They even give you a free dvd rental the first time you place an order ($1 all other times), you just need to pop it back in the post whenever you are done with it.  This is all topped off with a pretty slick online ordering system and dvd database.

    Who can argue with that!?!

We are pizza people.  That is to say, we order a lot of pie for short notice dinners when we're both too tired or too cranky to cook.  We've tried a lot of places found on Grub Hub, but once we tried Pronto 'Za, we never order from anywhere else.  When one of us asks the other, "Could you do pizza tonight?", this is the place we're talking about.

Fresh ingredients, perfect crust, lovely tart sauce, prompt delivery and friendly people.  If you like big, thin crust, east coast style slices you fold in half and then mow down on, this is the place.

I got a flyer in the mail and decided to give these guys a shot. The other reviews seemed positive, so I figured there had to be a closer pizza joint to where I lived than Piece, that served solid thin crust pizza (I will avoid the New York descriptor because everyone claims they sell that style of pizza, but no one can really replicate a New York slice).

I ordered a pretty standard cheese pizza (18-in) and breadsticks. It's been a while since I was this disappointed. The pizza was greasy, so much so a film formed on the roof of my mouth. The breadsticks were soggy, there is no better description. And the cost was around $30 for both -- ridiculously expensive.

My husband and I were both equally disappointed. I hate to write bad reviews, but I just wish someone had given this a place a fair review.

Gourmet pizza and sandwich wraps located in a not gourmet corner of a gas station parking lot just east of Goose Island.  I don't want to sound like it's a bad thing that they're banking on the transitional neighborhood thing (as Calynn K. mentioned) but I think most would agree that if they were in an area with more foot traffic you'd see at least triple the number of reviews.

I describe it as gourmet only for lack of a better word.  Don't let it scare you though if that's not your thing.  It's fancy without being too fancy...fancy medium.  Interesting and creative also apply but in a way that you want to wolf it down as you should anything worthy of the 'pizza' title.

A favorite has been the Bleu Ribbon Chicken which they describe as, "chicken cordon bleu on a pie."  There are a couple dozen and they have a rotating variety available for a quick slice at lunch.  I believe they'll also do the plain-old pepperoni or sausage/mushroom/onion type as well.  The sandwich wraps are also pretty good.  They're cheap (under $4) but about the same size as a PotBelly sub.  If you've got a hearty appetite you'll need two.

Oh yum.  I'm sort of embarrassed to admit that once my boyfriend and I tried our first pizza from here, we decided that we needed to eventually try the entire menu.  We are such food dorks that we even developed a rating system for each order so that we wouldn't make the grave error of accidentally ordering the same "wrong" pizza twice.  Dorkdom aside, we love our occasional weekend glutton fix and happily leave aside working out and healthy reality to indulge in the deliciousness of life that is Pronto 'Za, delivered fast and friendly no matter who is at the door (and trust me, I think we've met every employee).

Well, fortunately or unfortunately, we have yet to give a bad review to any box that has arrived at our house.  We have some "half-smiley's", but no sad faces as of yet.

    Our stars are:

    Great Scott
    Nutty Gonzo
    Desi
    The Texican
    The Mexicali
    Mea Simina
    Veggie-Matic
    Monkey Mango
    Eggplant Parmesan

Wow, we eat more pizza than I realized...that's quite the list.  Anyway, can't wait to add to our list of stars.  Cheers to lazy Saturdays!

Ordered Pronto 'Za for delivery on Friday night while watching the Hawks game. It's a decent thin crust pizza for sure - but personally I like a little more sauce a little less garlic.

We didn't go too crazy - just a medium pepperoni. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. I will say, they were right on with their 45min-hour delivery estimate and the delivery man was very enthusiastic which is always a plus in my book :)

we got off to a rough start when they refused to honor a coupon for a free salad 'it's only for delivery' (they said on the phone, not on the coupon) and we were picking up. It's, what, a one dollar food cost for a stupid side salad and you're saying because of the typo you made you won't honor it. You just lost business from me for a while..

To pronto's credit, the options appear to be at least interesting, with a few rarely seen but perfectly normal ingredients, like walnuts.  Prices are a little high to follow that interestingness.

our pizza didn't travel well at all, and had a oily cheese crust thing 10 minutes after we picked it up.  Flavors were ok, but the cheese was 'ruined.'  Toppings a little thinly applied for the hefty cost.

At least it's not deep dish.

I'll probably order delivery from them sometime-- maybe it will arrive hot out of a bag.

I guess it's good that there isn't a dining room, so pickup or delivery it's byob...

I'd say there's potential, and you might have a better experience, but not honoring your own coupon is pretty crumby.

I don't understand the good reviews. I think this pizza is disgusting. It's floppy, greasy, and overpriced. I literally could not even finish my piece and we had ordered an entire pizza. I didn't even put it in the fridge--couldn't imagine what it would taste like reheated.

It's seriously the greasiest pizza I have ever seen in my life. Disgusting.

I disagree with most of these reviews. This spot really surprised me how great it is. I have ordered it a few times lately and each time, I've been like "DAMN, this is a good pizza!" Honestly I have not been enjoying pizza for a long time because I have become bored with the standard Chicago style around here. This is more of a New York Style, big flat pies with a larger variety.

Last night I had the Chicken Toscano and the Bleu Ribbon Chicken, and they were both fantastic. We are also big fans of the more standard Sausage/Mushroom, and the Veggie Pizzas. Give it a try!

Say Hello to Good Pizza :) I always start with the Toscana Salad (everything's a bit better with goat cheese, right?) My favorite pies are the Mad Nanny (goat cheese with red bell pepper and chipotle peppers), the Great Scott (garlic, eggplant, walnuts, parmesan, and arugula), the Texican (chicken black beans, salsa verde, and pico de gallo) and the Popeye Pesto (spinach, pine nuts, mozzarella & parmesan).  You'd be crazy to be a pizza lover in Chicago and not try Pronta Za.

I'm not a pizza person so take my review with a grain of salt. I got the meat pizza with sausage, bacon and peperoni and I thought the toppings were okay. The crust though I thought was the best part It was thin and crispy but still had a nice breadiness to it. Also, $5.50+tax for a slice, drink and cookie which is pretty good when your feeling lazy and just want a quick fix. They also setup some astro turf on the sidewalk for outdoor seating...that's dope mang.

I just ordered a surprise Valentine's Day lunch for my bf and I am glad I decided to order from Pronto 'Za!  After all, girls get flowers for V-Day, guys should get what they love, GREAT FOOD!

They helped me achieve my "surprise lunch" and I was even able to get my pizza made in a heart shape.  I ordered and tipped online, so there was nothing for my bf to do but enjoy his awesome lunch!

The delivery driver was super nice and even called me to let me know that the lunch had successfully been delivered.  My bf was super excited and said that his pizza (Great Scott!), salad (Toscana), and cookie were all delicious.

I'm not a big Fan of the Chicago Style Pizza so when I found this place on Grub Hub had to try it out.
It was amazing.  Fresh ingredients, amazing grease, pan style crust, foldable slices.  Pizza can't get much better than this.

A really nice touch is the side by side.  This past time I ordered from here one of the sides needed to be with out cheese and tons of veggies and the other side was lots of cheese, pepporoni, and canadian bacon.  They did a perfect job and even separated the two sides with long thin pieces of dough.  To top it all of when they cut the pizza into slices they made sure each side got an equal piece of the dividing dough.

They take a little longer to deliver than most places but the pizza is still hot and great when it arrives.

How about leftovers?  This pizza is amazing the next day, pan seared (both sides) In olive oil or butter for about a minute a side.  You MUST try it out.

I spend a considerable amount of time in Chicago with my best friend and we always go out of our way to find new places to visit. This particular trip I found myself at a small pizza shop beside a gas station. At first I was a bit leery about getting carry out from there, but I was pleasantly surprised. On the weekends they don't have the specialty pizzas available by the slice which was cool for us that day. We couldn't decide so we ended up getting the Great Scott and the Eggplant Parmesan. The crust was perfect, the toppings were fresh and the sauce was just right. The guys working the counter were pleasant and we were in and out with two fresh pizzas in 15 minutes. I would definitely go back again!

Could be cheaper pizza slices and bigger portions for sandwiches. At least offer a bigger size because the regular size does not fill me up with out a chips/drink.

Four and not five only because I have not picked up, only had delivery.  Their pizza is amazing, especially the "Nutty Gonzo!" (sweet and sour onion marmalade, gorgonzola cheese, and toasted walnuts) -- it's worth five stars all by itself.  Speedy delivery, nice deliverers... works for me!

Pronto 'Za is great!  They offer really fast, delicious pizza by the slice, with all the basics (Cheese, sausage, pepperoni etc) in addition to a daily gourmet special that is sometimes gasp inducing: Roasted eggplant and Brie?  Yes, thank you!  Everything I have had is DELICIOUS.
the owner, Scott, always remembers my name and my quirks (no sugar, no meat) and the entire staff is so friendly and kind, you just want to hang out!  However, hanging out is not an option as they are just an ordering counter.   They offer discounts to the employees of nearby businesses AND their delivery is fast.  The full pizza ordering menu is far more extensive than the "By the slice" availability with some great gourmet ingredients.
Why four stars instead of five?  The above mentioned counter issue, and (this is no fault of their own) the neighborhood.  It is impossible to go here without getting aggressively panhandled and there are always unsavory sorts lingering around.  At the corner of Division and Halsted, right across from the still occupied Cabrinni Green complex buildings, you run into a LOT of begging.  Go for delivery if you don't want to deal with the hassle.

Good slices here and the sandwiches are good too. Every time I come here there seems to be something new on the menu or a new special. Seems like the guys in here enjoy being creative in the kitchen. The different gourmet pizza options are quite tasty. One time I went in the late afternoon and the crust was a little soggy from sitting there too long which was kinda gross. So avoid that lonely remaining slice at 3PM. The 'hood is a little shady, but dont let it scare you off.

i've had better pizza, sure...but i do enjoy me some pronto za. i'm not a big chicago deep dish fan, so sue me. but pronto za has some pretty cool combinations and recipes on a really great crust that i just love.

the crust can be pretty chewy, and i definitely suggest it with some extra sauce or garlic butter. but try the popeye pesto, the five cheese or chicken toscana. mmm, tasty.

like i said, this isn't the best pizza ever...and it sure as hell ain't cheap, either. in fact, even though i really like the place, i always seem to cringe at the price i'm paying. $22 just seems like a lot to me...but that might be my small town roots talking.

but pronto za does offer some handy little coupons with all of their deliveries (at least all of the deliveries i've had thus far) that get you free 2 liters, free salads or free delivery...so it at least makes you feel like there's some added value in there...somewhere. and for the record, all of my deliveries have been on time or ahead of the provided eta.

Good service, great food. Yeah, it's in Cabrini, but use your head - don't go after dark. Try the Desi pizza w/ chicken tikki masala. It's a 5-10 minute drive from Lincoln Park so it's a nice way to get out of the house.

I stumbled upon Pronto 'Za in my quest to find another option for lunch during the workday.  On my first couple of visits I had a slice of pizza....I definitely like their original gourmet-ish creations.  For instance, spinach, goat cheese w/red pepper combination....yum.  I also really enjoy the wraps and they are very inexpensive.  The chipotle chicken in particular.  It is all white chicken with sprouts and cheese, topped off with a spicy chipotle sauce.  Pretty tasty for under $4.  The place is small, so you have to eat at the counter if you walk in.  I would recommend pick-up or delivery.

Just ok for me.  I used to like it alot, but just had a slice.  ehh.  Nothing to write home about.  Kinda pricey for a slice.  The meat was tasty but everything else was not the flavorful (sauce, crust) not really flavorful.  The crust sucks, and usually I'm full after a slice, but not so much this time, so I guess it's smaller.  I probably won't have it again.
