No table service but food ready in lightening time. Best home fries that I can remember. Definitely best hole in the wall breakfast. Parking on the side.

Damn good cheap-ass breakfast...!!!

This little hidden gem is a hole-in-the-wall serving some tasty little burgers and good old-fashioned breakfasts which won't break the bank. I always wonder how they stay open, since nobody I know seems to know they even exist, but somehow they do and it's a comforting thought.

Yup, I don't think there's another place exactly like this. Amid the crumbling storefronts along Hyattsville's Rhode Island Ave. "mainstreet", sits the Professional Coffee Shop. You'd never know it's there unless you stopped and looked real hard to confirm it's not just another abandoned store. Once inside you're transported to back about 40 years, I honestly saw no evidence of anything after about 1970. Yet it's not kitchy , no cool chrome this or retro that. More worn laminated, fake wood paneled, and that odd yellowish aging flourescent light. And a wall covered in many decades of photos, Hyattsville residents and friends of the place. They found something that worked and stuck with it.
Run by the sweetest Korean couple, they offer the typical good greasy spoon stuff we want in a little diner. And though i haven't had everything on the menu, what I have had is terrific. Stop by and give them your business, it's a unique experience. (Cash Only) -

This place is really uncategorizable, but watch me try anyways: It's greasy spoon, but your spoon will be plastic and your plate will be styrofoam. It's old fashioned booth seating, but it's an extremely inefficent arrangement of unmovable chair-table combo units. There are pictures on the wall of happy, satisfied customers and postcards too, but it was eerily emtpy when I was there (think Florida Avenue Grill at 3 pm on a weekday, except in Hyattsville!). The service is Korean friendly (i.e. goodnatured extreme friendliness), but the only set of condiments in the place are at the cash-register. You can watch them cook if you are taking out, but there is no counter seating. Ackkk! Worst of all perhaps is that I don't remember what I had, except that it was a breakfast combo and it was mighty tasty :) To that I end I will definitely repeat my visit as there is a dearth of suitable breakfast joints out this way.
