So far I'm very satisfied.
Quick, friendly, and knowledgeable.
I only wish I hadn't had to pay the diagnostic fee, but since there was no labor involved, only a new power cord, they kept the fee.
Still, it was only 24 hours total time between drop off and pick up! Applause!
Diagnosed problem & repaired in timely fashion. Some of the files during the file transfer didn't come out exactly as on hard drive, but I'm happy to at least have them backed up.
Awesome and affordable neighborhood computer clinic.
Florian and his merry band of elves have resurrected my Acer laptop 3x so far. Crashed drive, blown motherboard fuse and spyware infection that took down a drive that was evidently on the five yard line to begin with.
A few days, a few hundred dollars and you're out the door. Worth it to have your work files back in order.
It's a small shop so you can see them tinkering away at their benches while Florian talks you off a ledge.
Friendly staff. Chris pretended not to remember my rude attitude on the phone. Aldi gave me good service too. Haven't been formally introduced to scary heavy metal Viking dude yet, but he looks like the type of guy you'd want on your side if trouble started brewing.
Florian wants me to buy a more reliable Lenovo so if I do I suppose I won't see him for a while. (I'm actually leaning towards a Macbook Pro, and Florian just advised that they repair Macs too. So when I get it I'll make sure to spill a drink on it so I can check in again.)
Anyway, you should visit next time your computer starts giving you grief. Instead of waiting for it to fail like I always do.
My laptop hard drive crashed unexpectedly and I hadn't backed up the data since June on it. So, I was pretty frantic at the thought of losing about 8 months worth of new music, files, data, photos, etc...
My sister used PRO Computers before for a repair, so I checked the reviews here on yelp and I decided to give them a try. I'm quite satisfied with the work and the speed of getting the data recovery done.
The paperwork process of getting the repair is automated, so you will literally get an email notification the minute your repair is completed -- and that's exactly what happened... plus you will also get an email estimate (free estimate, by the way) asking you to electronically approve or deny the work they can offer you.
While the prices weren't cheap for data recovery and they weren't able to recover all of my music files, I still got the most important documents/files/data/photos back so I'm thankful for that. They did a great job, they were very helpful and friendly and I'll happily recommend them to anyone.
I had a great experience with these guys...not only did they make me laugh during a stressful time- they fixed my computer 4 days faster than they said they could and charged a very fair ammount. They even took off a bunch of unrelated software and made it go faster just to be nice (awwwww)
totally recomended!
UPDATED: I actually ended up having a TON of problems with the repairs they did...they fixed it every time, and quickly but i really wish it would have been done right the first time...it ended up being a 4 month ordeal, but they were professional, honest and nice about it
Just wanted to let everyone know Pro Computer is still a great place to go for laptop repairs. Dealt with Florian who was very nice and informative. The power receptacle on the back of my Toshiba Tecra M3 laptop and broken off the board and would no longer supply power to the laptop. Toshiba's authorized service center was estimating 2-weeks for the repair! Florian had it fixed in ONE DAY at a very reasonable cost! Highly recommended.
A few weeks ago, I was completely heartbroken when I had accidently spilled an alcoholic beverage on my iBook G4. Bah, I am an idiot. I originally chose Pro Computers for my laptop repair based on the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the same good service as others had. When I brought it in and explained what had happened, the guy responded, "Dude...bummer. Yeah, IF we can fix it, it will be at least 500 to 1,000 dollars," all with a slight grin on his face. He was definitely making fun of me...as if I didn't feel badly enough about killing my laptop. Although he shot down any glimmer of hope I may have had, I still decided to give them a chance. I paid the $49 diagnostic fee, and he told me that I would be hearing from them soon. Four days later, I still hadn't heard from them, so I called. The guy on the phone seemed rather irritated, and informed me that they were still waiting for a quote from the manufacturer. Three more days later, I finally received a phone call with a quote. It was seven-hundred and fifty dollars to fix it...so I declined their services. Instead, I bit the bullet and just purchased a brand new MacBook. I will not knock them for their quote, as I know Macs are very expensive to fix. However, I didn't receive that friendly and fast service that everyone else seems to have gotten. Oh well.
I got a recoomendation for this from Yelp's erstwhile competitor, Angie's List. He is prompt, very reasonable, very professional and makes housecalls. He did a complete data recovery on a messed up drive and installed a network for me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
I tried this place based on the previous recommendations and was not disappointed. My laptop hard drive crashed and they weren't able to recover any information, but they replaced it and the overall service was fantastic! They are very professional, quick and thorough. I felt safe leaving my computer and information with them and they are much more affordable compared to other tech. repair businesses. They are my new go-to place for any troubles.
I went here based on the fabulous recommendations (and because their price over the phone was the least expensive) and they were fabulous. I took my laptop here for a new keyboard after spilling champagne on it. Everyone I dealt with was super nice. They called me with my quote an hour after I left (they said it would be a day) and then they finished it 3 days before they said they would!!!! I would definitely go here again.
I had a very positive experience with these guys. I'd personally recommend asking for Florian. He's a good guy and very helpful. They are very professional and courteous. I'm pretty good with computers but even I couldn't recover my failed hard-drive which was damaged in shipping. These guys managed to recover my data promptly. Their prices are very reasonable too, if I ever have another computer problem I cannot fix myself (even hardware failure!), I'll definitely go back to them. Recommending this place to all my friends.
Many, many thanks to the other Yelpers who reviewed this place, as I used their endorsements in choosing to try Pro Computers. Quick, very affordable diagnosis, great communication, and another satisfied customer. They are more than happy to chat through any questions you have, and discuss multiple options for whatever issue you have. In my case, they diagnosed a tricky hardware issue that would have been fairly difficult to do myself. I will hands down return for any future computer issues...
Florian responded to my contact email almost immediately. They correctly diagnosed and were able to recover all my info off the crashing hard drive. Then installed and transferred to the new hard drive in a couple days. They were great, called with updates when they said they would. I will go back for any (hopefully none) problems in the future.
So they couldn't save my hard drive - not their fault. They responded quickly to my inquiry and were friendly in person. Took longer than they said to get back with an estimate, but again responded quickly to an email. Have an online system to check repairs as well. I'd try them again - though knock on wood I won't have to :)
My computer has all of my business info, back up of my phone, all my music, pictures, basically a lot of important items to me. My laptop was having troubles, it was getting over heated. It was basically getting so hot it would shut off by itself. This would freak me out, I didn't want to loose everything. I backed them all up, but then again I just got this laptop 1 1/2 years ago and I didn't want to loose the laptop either. I came here on advice from friends and yelp. I was greeted with a smile and "How can we help you?" I told them the problems they replied they could take a look at it. It would be $49.99 and that went toward the total costs. They said they would have an answer in 2 business days or for an additional $50 dollars they could have an answer for me in about 4 hours. Well I paid the additional $50 and on my form asked that I be called, not e-mailed with updates. 3pm came and left. I called after 3:30pm to see what was happening, they said the technician was still looking at it. I called back at about 6pm and they said that the issue was it needed to be cleaned and they were waiting for an approval, so I said go for it, (an additional $40), and they said it should be done by 2pm the next day. I went the next day and picked it up about 1:30pm. Now when I checked my e-mail, I found e-mails with updates and saying it was waiting for approval and that it was ready to be picked up. Thank God I called. I don't doubt that they will get the job done and the rates seems okay. However it just adds to the frustration when they don't contact you the way you asked to be contacted. If my PC crashed I would come here, but then again a Mac is also looking pretty tempting in about a year....
