Reasonable prices, quick service, nice ambiance. These are the reasons this is a 4 star facility. Sure, you can get eggs and toast anywhere, and it shouldn't cost and arm and leg and shouldn't be a dining experience that takes hours to get through.
My eggs were perfect and were complimented nicely with toast and coffee. My table was solid on it's three legs, and my waitress was pleasant.
I liked the ease in which I was able to get savory food, quick and fast in the morning, and still feel like I'm not in a hurry (if that makes any sense). -
Review from Leese H.

Simply, a cute cafe to grab beverages and food if you're in the neighborhood. My girl and I split a turkey sandwich that came with brie, granny smith apples, and cranberry chutney. It also came with a side salad. Very minimalist and satisfying.
However, agreed with other yelpers that the (supposedly spiced) chai latte was very diluted and watery. My friend ordered an unsweetened iced tea, which wasn't very good either.
Anyway, the front part of the cafe is really cramped. But the back of the cafe is by far more spacious; mostly people are on their computers or stalking others on facebook.
3.5 stars overall; Waitresses and baristas were amicable and prompt. I think the managers here just want you to feel welcomed and at ease. -
Review from Katie T.
I got mixed feelings about this place: it changed gradually as I walked through from the front to the back. For some reason, I sensed that the entire decor/atmosphere shifted.
No AC in the front, but that's where the cute tables are. Then in the back, sure, there's AC, but it turned into a boring diner joint.
I wanted a drink and a snack. But just wasnt impressed enough with the menu to even pick anything out. So I ended up with just a chai latte, which was diluted to the maximum.
There are enough of other cute spots in that neighbor to settle for this. -

This place has the ambience of a neighborhood diner, but a bit more refined. Definitely not as over-the-top as some of the other places around here, though. Their breakfast options, which are served all day, are pretty good value. In the mornings, you can get two eggs, toast, green salad or potatoes, and free coffee all for $5-6. I cannot stand a place that screws up scrambled eggs (that's you, Sugar Diner!), and although these aren't the best I've had, they are not bad, and you get to put rock salt on top (though not freshly ground pepper).
They also offer sandwiches / panini, soups, entrees, etc for lunch and dinner. Haven't yet tried much that's not on the coffee/breakfast side of the menu yet. Did try the mixed berry smoothie and threw it out after one sip. Blech. It is not blended with ice, so you are basically drinking a sickly sweet glass of warm yogurt.
My favorite part is the seating and free wifi. The place is laid out like a teeny tiny hole in the wall, is quite deep, like a super-long and skinny rectangle, hiding a lot more space than you'd realize. So you can pick out a spot to camp for a while to work and nurse a snack or drink. I've never felt hassled about leaving and the service has been quick, attentive, and friendly -- easy since they never seem crowded. So it's kind of like an awesome coffee shop in terms of functionality, but with a fuller menu and decent hours. Prince Street Cafe, you are my go-to cafe.
Hours: 8AM-11PM every day. -

Stopped in for a quick lunch during SoHo shopping experience on Prince Street today. This is a small long and thin place, probably 10 feet wide and 100 feet deep. Cold day so hot tea to warm up, soup and sandwiches for the meal. They left the meat out of my Ukranian Borscht. Otherwise, pretty good.

Ordered an Iced Latte here on the fly....it was good. The foam mostly is on the bottom. Looks like a really cute place, for solo laptop time, or casual coffee/lunch after shopping in Nolita/Soho. Latte was $4 and came out quick. I loved the indoor/outdoor space.

French Toast. I've had a lot of French toast in this great country of ours, a country that calls it French toast for reasons that escape me because we probably eat this egg-dipped bread more than any other country per-capita. It should be called Roosevelt toast. Anyway if you want epic "French" toast then please do go out of your way, I don't care where in the five boroughs you live, and get it here.
It looks like any other pile of French toast when you see it. But then you take that first cut and this melange of what I can only imagine is magic unicorn mana flows out. Take a bite and you'll instantly wince at the fact that everything else you've had called "French toast" has been nothing but a sick lie perpetrated by restaurants and your mother. Nothing else has this delicious bouquet of egg, vanilla, cinammon, sugar and super soft brioche. This stuff melts in your mouth, a term I normally find irritating but I can't use another one. You really don't even need the syrup. Seriously don't put syrup on it. -

Cute cute place. Really charming for a casual lunch date if you happen to be in the neighborhood or shopping w/ friends (you pass a lot of nice, indie boutiques on the way there so 2 for 1)!
I had the Prince St. burger (on toasted brioche/tomatoe/cheese/onion) WITH guacamole. This spoiled me and now I always want guacamole on my burgers...but I digress. Also came w/ a small arugula salad. -

I came here back in December. My boyfriend and I were freezing from the cold, so we went to this cafe to seek some warmth.
The atmosphere is quaint and pleasant. We got two Americanos, and they gave us pretty cups for them. Coffee was good. I can't rate the food because we didn't get anything here. There was a good selection on the menu, though.
My only complaint: SERVICE. Our waitress looked like she hated her job and she wasn't the nicest person in the world. She was very short with us. It was uncomfortable to order the coffee from her -__- -

Price: $16 prix fixe brunch
Highlight: The New Yorker
So first I was skeptical about a brunch that did not offer unlimited mimosas as part of the prix fixe menu.
I was there at noon on a Saturday with 3 others.
Here is what you get for the prix fixe brunch menu:
Basket of homemade muffins and muffin-esque pastry
Coffee or Tea - large cup
Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
Entree - ranging from usual eggs benedict, other eggy dishes, fettucine
Homemade Ice Cream - 1 scoop - vanilla, chocolate, espresso
A mimosa is $3 extra. I didn't even miss it enough to order it.
What a meal. Food was fresh. This is not something to rush through, but to catch up with people, rehash previous night's events and forget about the time.
I had the New Yorker - eggs benedict with smoked salmon served on a bagel or baguette. I had it on a baguette, which I needed to steak knife to handle.
I'm a fan and will be back. -

New York, NY
Went in to use my groupon for brunch. Was not impressed with my smoked salmon benedict (the New Yorker). To be fair, it was a lot of food for the price, but eggs were cold AND overcooked, bread couldn't be cut through, hollandaise was cold too.
I suppose I could have said something, but I didn't want to get made fun of by the staff. You see, the staff were loudly, rudely made fun of customers only a table away! Granted, they were clearly from out of town and insisted on sitting with a single guy at a 4 seater because they wanted to sit up front. Which was weird. But I could hear them, I'm sure they could too. Made me uncomfortable for everyone in earshot. Overall, probably not somewhere I would go back to. -

The place is friendly, great lunch spot or a coffee spot.
Butternutsquash and panchetta grilled cheese hit the spot.
Lovely large tea and coffee cups. free refills.

KNICKERBOCKER, NY
As others have stated, this place is charming. Though, the little love seat at the front isn't as comfortable as it appears, it still makes for great people watching. Wasn't too busy when we went so it was a good place to sit and get some work done, they have wi-fi. Waitresses are uber cute. We enjoyed our food.

Review from Laura K.
I eat Prince Street at least twice a week, usually once for a weekend breakfast and once for dinner/delivery.
Their food is super fresh and their breakfast/brunch is super "clean." What I mean is that their food isn't greasy, their fruit freshly cut/prepared and everything that comes out of the kitchen looks like it was prepared with thought -- not what you always see, especially at brunch-time.
Some of my menu favorites:
- Oatmeal is amazing. Yes, oatmeal and amazing usually don't end up in the same sentence.
- Pancakes -- fluffy and wonderful
- All of their soups are so fresh, tasty
Should also mention, the people watching from the front tables in the place are perfect. Great to sit with your morning beverage and watch as the neighborhood wakes up. -

I like this place. It's casual, the food is generally tasty, and the prices are reasonable. It's nothing special but its close to my apt and the food is good enough. But I have brought a couple of friends here before and a couple of them were not huge fans.
Generally the staff is pretty good although sometimes they seem a bit unorganized and unprofessional. It seems like there is a new waiter/waitress overtime I go so maybe that explains the inconsistent level of service. -

After reading the Serious Eats review about Prince Street Cafe, I took a stroll down for dinner. As recommended, I ordered the green bean salad. Indeed, the composition was nothing ordinary but the sauce was rather extraordinary. It was sweet, tangy, sour, and just an explosive and fun vinaigrette on a multitude of levels! The dark vinaigrette puddles and dabbles of dijon mustard were quite the eye candy amongst the (slightly wilted :( ) greens. My friend ordered the greenmarket salad, which was just okay. Then again, it was also much cheaper. The bread that comes with all the salads taste extremely healthy!

"I knew I should've gone with the gnocchi."
That was my first thought as I walked out of Prince Street Cafe after a midday lunch with the two musketeers. I was $110 bucks short, and wholly unsatisfied.
Not even a leftover dinner would be possible tonight, I thought. I had taken pity on my post-Atonement, thinning Jewish friend and offered him the other half of my sandwich.
OK, well, I didn't exactly offer, but I did accept after he asked me for it kindly, having watched it linger on my plate for ten minutes. Where does he put it all, I wondered as he reached for it eagerly. His own luscious burger had looked like it came out of a magazine: a thick, juicy patty bathed in cheese, crisp lettuce and tomatoes, all topped with a shiny bun.
But as I watched him wipe out most of my sandwich with the first bite, I suddenly remembered: Men's bellies are made of slack rubber, expanding easily, to hold everything in sight. Even my salty sandwich, the infamous falafel "burger."
Burger? Yeah right, burger: The server brought me a flat sandwich, thin pita encasing the falafel stuffing. It was his solid recommendation that had swayed me to go against my pasta-craving instinct: "You don't know if the gnocchi was really made today," he whispered.
True, and had I gotten the pasta, which looked very appetizing in Edward F.'s Yelp picture, I would have missed out on the potatoes. The few fries that accompanied the dishes were excellent. Crispy, soft, and flavorful, they made up for a considerable fraction of the café's shortcomings. In fact, I must admit, the menu featured many interesting things: numerous paninis for only $7.50, a variety of hearty soups, and $9 "homemade" fettuccine specials.
So out of all the choices, how did I end up with an unimpressive one and more than $100 gone? Bad choice. Plus, I took my broken guitar to the music store nearby before lunch.
It all adds up after a mediocre meal. -

New York, NY
This narrow restaurant looks tiny when you first walk in. Little did we know, it keeps going and going in the back, extending out to three different dining areas. There are many great options on the menu from breakfast items to soups to sandwiches to paninis to desserts to hot beverages.
The $9 lunch deal is great which gets you a soup/salad with your choice of 1/2 wrap, panini or sandwich. I had the wild mushroom soup and the prosciutto di parma panini. The bowl of soup was enjoyable but it wasn't the cream based soup I was expecting. It was mainly barley, mushroom broth, chunks of wild mushroom and a few veggies. Ingredients were fresh and it had that homemade look. It was a little too bland. As for the panini, the bread is amazing. It was so crusty and easy to bite into. They were very generous with the prosciutto and the fresh mozzarella was a nice touch. I could have used a touch more balsamic vinaigrette to balance the saltiness of the meat and cheese. It included a big ole tomato that I pulled out.
Since my meal earlier this week, I've gotten delivery. A lunch size portion of the fettucine with duck confit and truffle butter. This pasta dish is excellent. Al dente pasta that is homemade, flavorful pieces of duck and the truffle butter sauce is heavenly.
This was a great find with affordably-priced options for any meal of the day. There's also a $5 recession burger deal going on now after 5pm. I'll be back for a few of those. -

Hello Yelp. This is my first review here, after having resisted joining the Yelp community for a long long time. Guess what finally pushed me over the edge? That's right, Prince St. Cafe.
A lazy stroll around NoLiTa led a friend and I to this quaint little place. Sat down because it didn't seem to be particularly busy and because the prices looked decent. A nice waitress sat us on the sidewalk and handed us the menu.
Let me just say that I can now die happy, after having had the homemade fettucine with wild mushrooms, pine nuts and pesto. It was the best damn pasta I've ever had. The fettucine was fresh, chewy - not soft - but the texture of it paired with the amazing pesto sauce blew me away. My friend had the New Yorker breakfast - a large bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese and poached eggs and was equally amazed.
This being Memorial Weekend, they are having an all-day special for a ridiculously low price of $14.95. That gets you a basket of blueberry muffins and danish (so large we packed it back), an entree (fettucine, new yorker, omelettes... and some other stuff), choice of homemade ice cream (pretty damn good too), cookies or fresh fruit, freshly squeezed OJ, and coffee or tea.
Service was actually exceptionally pleasant, a cheerful, helpful waitress, a server who ensured our glasses were always filled, and another extremely pleasant waiter.
This is probably one of the reasons I love New York, being able to stumble upon precious gems like this.
Now.... go and have some of that fettucine! I'm planning my next trip back (read: tomorrow). -

If you think you've had the best french toast of your life, you're wrong because you haven't had it here yet. Try it, try it now: two chunks of challah bread drenched in a mother's love that eats like bread pudding.
And if you think you're about to enter a tiny counter cafe, you're wrong again! - because the narrow and spare-clean-modern space is Alice-in-Wonderland-long and there's another room in the back. This place is full of pleasant surprises... The gnocchi with prosciutto is good too if you like it creamy. -

Delivery Review
Prince St. Cafe has been one of my top places for delivery for home and at the library (Bobst)
I've been ordering the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and it is good! Sandwiches come with the option of 7 grain, baguette, white, or sourdough. I choose 7 grain of course, healthy and delicious. The sandwich is made with fresh ingredients of avocado, tomato, JUICY chicken breast and cilantro mayo. yum yum.
I've tried two soups here: the borscht and grilled carrot. It was my first time having borscht and I didn't like it. I'm not a potato fan and there was wayyy too many potatoes. (hence the minus one star) The grilled carrot on the other hand, was nice. It needed a little bit more salt but otherwise pleasant.
Delivery was prompt and reliable. -

$8 lunch special: Any bowl of soup and any half sandwich
I thought the mushroom soup was fantastic and very fresh.
My friend got the Butternut squash soup and nearly licked the bowl...so yea that was good too.
We both got the marinated chicken sandwich with aioli on 7 grain bread.
A great little spot to get out of the cold and warm up with some soup.

I had this delivered and I am, sadly, very disappointed:
- Carrot soup ... Way too heavy on cream.
- Duck Confit Salad was good overall, but the dressing was made of mostly oil and fat (no truffle flavor at at all). The eggs were great (and a nice touch). Why was there grilled chicken on the duck salad though? I can't figure that out.
- Baby arugula salad... The ratatouille looks gross and did not taste fresh. I would not have served it. The dressing was mostly of olive oil. This should not have been a $10 salad.
- Chicken Wrap... This is surprisingly gooey. It can't really be eaten as a wrap at all. This is also overpriced at $9. -

I have to say that after walking by here so many times and wanting to try it out, I am disappointed with what I experienced.
Note to business: If you must use your sidewalk manhole entryway to the basement throughout the day, DON'T put a table on top of it and have outdoor seating for two. I'd rather have sat inside than have to move every time you needed to make a trip downstairs (6 times, by the way).
The food was ok...not bad...but just ok. I had the chicken and avocado sandwich on 9 grain bread. Throw in sharing a bowl of fries and tip with my co-diner and you run a tab of $25. I was still quite hungry. For that amount I could have eaten at a handful of surrounding places and actually been satiated.
The service was ok...they brought the food as it was ready. After about 8 minutes we got sandwiches...two minutes later the ice tea came (which was ordered before the food)...then 5 minutes later the fries came. After we were done eating.
Figure yourselves out, Prince Street Cafe. Let me know when you do and I'll be back. Until then... -

I got some food delivered from here the other day and was pretty unimpressed.
I ordered a gnocchi with some prosciutto cream sauce meal. It took 45 minutes to get here, not too bad but a little long. The salad with a citrus vinaigrette was pretty good but it was only about 4 or 5 bites. The gnocchi itself was ok, but the sauce was very very liquidy and didn't go with the meal very well at all.
There was bread that was supposed to be included in my meal and would have balanced things out nicely, but somehow that was not included in my order.
Maybe it was just the fact that I got delivery that things weren't quite up to par and if someone insisted on going here again, I might consider it, but I certainly wouldn't get the gnocchi. -

I work by Prince Street Cafe and I usually go in there to get an easy black cup of coffee and then go back to work. The girls there are never nice, but I'm not always nice to my customers so I don't care. I leave a tip to cheer them the hell out of whatever little depression they harbor inside that skinny little restaurant and peace the f out.
HOWEVER
the ONE TIME i ask for soy milk in my coffee, I'm given regular milk without notice, acknowlegement or even the option out of it entirely which would take a whopping "we don't have soy"
I HAVE AN ALLERGY which can lead to SERIOUS ILLNESS
You guys are never nice. You've made me EXTREMELY ILL while I AM ALSO TRYING TO EARN MY OWN MEASELY WAGE
thank you so much for spreading your misery, girls. -

I love Prince St Cafe... it's my go to place in Soho for sure!
The food is always yummy, the staff are super friendly, and the owner/chef is awesome too. The vibe is very chilled, and the place is bigger than it looks. I would say I go there mostly for breakfast and lunch... my favorites? the wild mushroom omelet, the tuna burger and their bread pudding! =D -

My mother was in town, and we were hoping to go to Cafe Colonial, which is now closed! Sad panda! We happened upon Prince Street Cafe and thought the menu looked interesting.
I had the burger which was alright, but the fries that came with it were terrible- fresh cut, but not blanched, so undercooked and completely inedible. My mother had the fresh mozzarella panini, which was served on a weird inside-out bread (the crust was interior?) and the mozzarella was not fresh, but shredded, and only partly melted. Her description: awful and disappointing.
I hate throwing away food. Unfortunately when our server came to pick up our mostly-full plates, I mentioned the poor quality of the fries and she took my plate away without a response. Thanks?
Service was awful. I highly recommend that you go almost anywhere but here. -

I don't like eggs. I always order them and get excited for my breakfast, and then, after a few bites, spread them around on my plate like I did when I was little so it looked to my parents as though I ate enough of my meal.
Well, I've found my solution. At Prince St. Cafe, they have a truffle butter and English Pea omelette. Amazing. Not only are their eggs not rubbery, but the truffle butter made it taste like some exotic delicacy and i gobbled up every bite. I have found my solution--now I MUST have truffle butter to go with my eggs! I can just see my grocery bill now.
My friend had the gazpacho and sandwich. The gazpacho was as it should be--blended, not chunky. They ran out of the fish she wanted for her sandwich, but she was pleased with the one she got, anyway.
They have a nice, clean bathroom, which is always a relief in NYC.
They lost one star because it was kinda unclear who our waitress was and if she got off duty halfway through our meal. When nobody came back to our table, we ended up just asking random waitstaff for help, which worked, but it would have been good to know who was serving us. -

Homemade fettucine + pine nuts, basil, pesto = Five Stars, The pasta was homemade and the right texture, firm and soft to bite into. I'm not really a big fan of the soft and falling apart variety too much.
Butternut squash soup = Four 1/2 Stars b/c it didn't come with bread but fortunately we had bread from the fettucine entree dish
Grilled cheese w/ pancetta & fig confit = Four stars, the cheese was really melty and the sandwich came piping hot. (I almost burned my tongue!)
Side Salad = 3 1/2 stars, mixed greens and three slices of tomato in a oil and vinegar dressing. Plain jane.
Iced Chocolate Almond drink = 5 stars, Ah-mai-zzing! Chocolate-y w/ a hint of almond extract goodness. It was a little malt flavored which is a plus b/x I love iced milo and this was like iced milo but much better! -

If you're hungry, in the area, but aren't sure what you feel like eating, Prince Street Cafe is a good choice. Your options certainly wouldn't be limited -- salads, sandwiches, smoothies, breakfasts, entrees, etc. -- and the prices are reasonable.
I had the baby arugula salad. It was a generous serving, but there was a bit too much oil for my liking. In general, a middle-of-the-road type place. -

The Prince Street Cafe, located in SoHo, is an amazing place to eat breakfast. It is an interesting restaurant, because what looks like a very small cafe from the outside rambles to the back of the building into a beautiful open space. There are sky lights on the ceiling that create a fresh and happy feel. The service is wonderful and the wait staff is very attentive to their guests needs. The grill is out in the open, behind a counter, so you can watch how they create the delicious food you are served. My boyfriend and I ordered eggs, bacon, and homefries and a plate of blueberry pancakes to share. If you want to splurge, the blueberry pancakes are to die for! The eggs and potatoes are also delicious and fresh. There are a lot of organic items on the menu, so you will leave the restaurant feeling full, but in a good way. I highly recommend The Prince Street Cafe :-)

Atmosphere is not the best, the lighting can be horrible at night. Other than that the food is absolutely amazing, I have ordered quite a few things and have always been impressed! the curry chicken wrap is a winner every time!!! they have huge yummy salads, and the brunch menu is clutch! Large portions for super cheap! I get worried because they are so ridiculously cheap, I wonder how they stay in business.
I am also a fan of the delivery service -- always been fast and with out any problems! they even throw in a free chocolate chip cookie if you order online!! BONUS!
