6 reviews for Primo Pizza
Their dough has no levening and is basically a oily faltbread, there was no crust! Secondly, my slice was heated for only 1.5 minutes and the cheese was still hard. It was not a good pizza experience.
Overall I would say the pizza was hard (not crispy like ny pizza) and dry (they use dehydrated cheese?). However it did taste good and I'm glad to have this option. A lot better than pizza rustica!
I thought the pizza was tasty and I definitely did taste the New York in their slices. In fact, I don't think I've ever tasted this much "New York" in any pizzas around Miami so this one is definitely one to beat.
On the other hand, I was surprised that they didn't have lunch specials. Or daily specials for that matter. Or even combos. This location needs to realize that they're catering to the local population in Midtown, not to the South Beach tourist s. They do need to lower the prices or come up with a different strategy to fully convince me.
But... between this location and the South Beach location, this one rules the roost! Modern and more comfortable ambience, seating indoors and outdoors, and clean look.
Primo Pizza now has second location in Midtown. You may have been to their South Beach location at 100 Collins. It's known for piping hot pizza by the slice but you can also order pickup or delivery.
I had two slices: a chicken and a sausage, pepperoni and black olive. The crust was not to thin, perfect cooked and greasy like you'd find in New York.
There is inside and outside seating. There are two large flat screen TVs but when we were there, there was no air conditioning and they had the doors open.
It's located near the corner of NE 35th Street and NE 1st Ave across the park from the Midtown Garage with Target. There is usually plenty of metered parking in front but you can also park in a Midtown garage and walk across the park.
Update November 2009: According to Anthony, the owner, they will soon be serving beer at Primo Pizza!
I want my pizza (among other things) to be thin, local, and tasty. Today, after having just returned to Midtown after six months up North, I had a chance to sample Pizza Primo. I needed sustenance bad. What I got was a delicious, crispy piece of pizza (veggie with egglplant, artichoke hearts, peppers, and onions) that made all memories of a packed flight disappear. What a primo add to Midtown.
So excited that there is another location. Its the best Pizza in Miami. Mike S down there better go back and try Primo's again because he must of caught them on an off day ~ I've never had a bad experience eating there. Always a good choice.
Nice place in Midtown Miami but the prices seemed a bit high. My experience wasn't one to brag about.
I go to the counter, pick up a menu, make my selection and realize these guys have their prices confused. On the menu it stated $5.95 for the chicken parm sub I wanted but when I go to pay, the man behind the counter slaps me with a $9.95 plus tax price. So I ask him why so expensive and why the difference in price? His reply, "well that menu (which happened to be right next to the register - IN BULK) is from our store in South Beach". Now I am puzzled. I'm not in South Beach or am I? Did I make a wrong turn somewhere?. As far as I could see I'm in midtown Miami. I can clearly see Target across the way. So, I cancel the order and just order an overpriced slice of pizza and a $3 coke. Now, I'm no cheapskate but something about this arrangement seemed off. Suddenly I felt as if I had been magically transported to New York City and I was paying NYC prices but since I was on my bike and I was starving I needed some food so I put up with the crummy service. Oh, and the pizza was just ok. Definitely not the best. There's a better pizza place up the street which is better and cheaper. That's my two cents.
