I love Primal! When I hit my rebellious teenage years, this was the place I went to get a body piercing sure to freak out my parents. As I got older I decided to take them all out and of course regretted it. So this became the place to get some of my piercings reopened. I also got a white tattoo by Dan & almost 9 months later I still look at it in awe with a big grin on my face. They do fantastic work, are super friendly & they know their stuff. They are part of Association of Professional Piercers, which I really appreciate. If I'm going to have someone shove a needle through a body part for decorative purposes I really like knowing that everything is clean & sterile. It's the only place I will go to & I highly recommend them!

Primal Decor is the only place I go (locally at least!) for piercing and tattoos. Jennifer is an awesome piercer; very knowledgeable, friendly, and I'm always amazed that it doesn't hurt as much as I'm afraid it will ;)
Luis is a fabulous tattoo artist, and boy does he come through in a pinch! I had a friend visiting for a few days, and at the end of her visit she decided she wanted to get a tattoo. We went in to Primal to see if they could see her, but it was his day off... well, the girl at the counter called him to see if he could come in, and we were able to schedule an appointment for later that day!
She was thrilled with her tattoo, and with the awesome service... and I was thrilled to have my fav shop come through and make me proud! -

Primal Decor has been around as long as I can remember, and a visit there for a tattoo or piercing has long been a rite of passage for many a Humboldt County resident. I had my tongue pierced there and also got a medium to large back piece done there as well. Each was done be a different artist, but both were done professionally and I left a very happy camper (if pretty sore) in both instances. Prices are reasonable, and I would say for the quality they are even a little low. You can purchase piercing accessories, and if I remember correctly they also have smoking accessories. Tattoos are done in cubicles that are floor to ceiling, providing a great amount of privacy. Yay Primal Decor!

Primal Decor is the premier piercing (and now tattoo) business in Humboldt County. If you need someone to shove sharp pieces of metal through your skin, and do it as professionally as possible, Jason and the other folks here are your best bet. I had both of my lobes pierced a few years back at 12ga here, and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Everyone was very knowledgeable, friendly, precise, and most importantly professional. All of the equipment and rooms were as sterile as possible, and the jewelry were of the highest quality that I have seen. Jason took extreme care when measuring and piercing; making sure that it would be done as perfectly as possible. The prices may not be low, but you certainly get more than you pay for. Why be cheap when it comes to modifying your body?
Humboldt County has a handful of very skilled and innovative body modification practitioners, and of them I have to say that Primal Decor is in all likelihood the best. -

This is the only place my Humboldt friends would go for piercing and tattoos. Everywhere else I've seen in Humboldt is for high school kids rebelling against mom, or grizzled Vietnam vets with American flag and eagle tattoos.
Jason and Jason are experienced, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They're VERY clean and they're skilled at what they do. I've accompanied several friends here for piercings as well as ink. I got my tongue done here after my previous tongue piercing went bad. It was SUCH a better experience with Jason. Unlike the 1st time, it didn't hurt hardly at all, and it healed much faster and cleaner.
They only carry the highest quality jewelery, and took time to explain to me the advantages of having jewelery with threading on the ball instead of on the bar.
I even scored a really nice glass pipe when Jason was learning to blow glass. It had a bubble in it so he gave it to me for free. Said I could have it and enjoy it until it breaks. That was 9 years ago. It's still my favorite pipe.
They also have one of the coolest waiting rooms I've ever seen.
Primal Decor is easily the best body modification studio on the north coast. -

Excellent quality of both service and work. "Bedside manner" and aftercare are a standard part of every visit. Luis Lopez in particular does amazingly good tattoo work.

I am going to keep this simple. The people are friendly and enthusiastic, which makes it feel very very comfortable. I went in and spoke to the staff about getting my first piercings and then stretching to a 4 or a 6 gauge. Jennifer explained to me about what would help me get to my goal faster, but still safely. I ended up getting 8 gauges within the next 20 minutes. She is very clean and quick. My whole experience was great just because how the staff and the building made me feel real calm. They carry great quality jewelry as well. As far as tattoos go, I haven't got mine yet, but my friend had two of hers done her and she says that what she wanted was exactly what she got and couldn't be more pleased. All in all, Primal Decor has me as a repeat customer , no doubt about it.

Great tattoo & piercing! Highly professional. Clean. Great group of people!! I've been tattoo'd here several times & pierced here. Been pierced at another shop in Eureka...big mistake, this should be the only place you go to get pierced in Humboldt County!!!

Primal Decor is the best place I've come across to get piercings. They are members of APP and adhere to safe piercing practices. I have been pierced by Jason and Jennifer a total of 16 times and they have all turned out beautifully. The shop is always clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. I moved 700 miles away 5 years ago, but still return to Primal Decor for all my piercing needs. I have brought friends and family members here and would recommend it to everyone.

I recently had a moderately sized tattoo done by Dan at Primal Decor. It was actually a cover-up job of an old tattoo I got on a whim and really hated. He did such an amazing job with the cover up, you'd never know the original piece was there. From a picture I gave him he drew up his own interpretation and the most amazing sketch. He is truly a gifted visual artist, his drawing took my breath away. I cannot leave my house now without getting tons of compliments on the tattoo-someone told me tonight they were mesmerized by it and just couldn't stop staring! He is very professional and has a calm and easygoing demeanor. He was SO detail oriented too and very meticulous about his work. The shop is super cute, reasonably priced, and all the staff was very helpful. All in all this place rocks and I am looking forward to going back to Dan for more work once I save some more money up!

This is by far the premier piercing salon of the North Coast. My doctor, who had several piercings recommended Jason and I am so glad that I followed her advice. Jason was so informative and professional. I felt really confident and the whole experience was awesome. I've had my nose ring for 10 years and still love it. My daughter had her navel done there also. I go back periodically to buy jewelry because they have the highest quality and most of the jewelry I've gotten from other places has only lasted a short time. Either the stone falls out or the whole ring itself. I have a very small piercing so this is not justified. I also LOVE the waiting room, atmosphere, etc. GO HERE!!!!

Oh, Primal Decor! I will never let anyone else touch me. Jason pierced my navel & rook, and I've entrusted a number of friends to him for tongue, nostrils, lip and rook. We've all been extremely impressed with how professional, friendly, knowledgeable, incredibly sanitary and all-around awesome they are at this shop. I suppose I'm not your typical piercing/tattoo person, but they never made me feel unwelcome. One time my captive bead fell out (waaay back when the rook was still healing) and I got one of the girls to pop it back in for me in the bathroom at Humboldt State. How's THAT for service? I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for 7 freakin' years. Not once in my wildest dreams have I imagined getting it anywhere but Primal Decor. Any other piercings will come from them as well, even though it's a 5 hour drive. It is worth every penny & minute just to know that I will be getting the best service possible.
