Neighborhood: Capitol HillCutest vintage store on the hill. Have all sizes and not just the random size 0 that you tend to find at some other vintage stores. Adore the decor. The prices are not too steep as well.
I feel pretteeeee
Oh so pretteeee,
I feel vintagey and girlie and gay!!
What?
Okay, so going into this store didn't exactly propel me up the gay chart, but I sure did feel like a pretty girl in here. And really, how can you not surrounded by pinks and silks and chiffon and vintage garb? I scored the perfect little black dress circa 1970's and now I just want to be invited out to something so I can wear it! Hehe.

I am so excited to have an auction even this weekend ~ I get to pull out my FABULOUS sequined mini-dress I bought at Pretty Parlor several years ago. And, I just realized as I type, I am siting here wearing my yummy scarf I got at a cool boot sale hosted at P.P. last year.
Each time I'm in Annabanana has done something new, amazing, goofy, sexy in an unusual way or just plain fun! I love Pretty Parlor!

YEEE! Yikes! Yow! The fashion here reminds me of "Pretty In Pink" when Molly Ringwald takes three ugly dresses and makes one ugly dress out of them. It is a hodgepodge of old (read: pit stained, pilly, worn, Etc..) sweaters with new lace or appliques. LIPSTICKONAPIG! The tailor is good she just has to find her design wings. I live close to this spot and have yet to find anything I would buy. Pass.

Just got a note from the shop with an invitation back. I thought they had banned me now I feel like a jerk. I am going to give this place another look-see and get back to y'all. Wish me happy hunting, I can always use a new dress.

Funny that Del Rae M. said she found Anna Banana's stuff old (pit stained, pilly and worn). I think that's a gross exaggeration. AnnaBanana runs a professional shop. I also wouldn't call the stock "hodgpodge." I admit there's generally a good number of things that are either too trendy or too over the top for my taste, but I've got friends who've paired some of those items in a way I'm envious of. I also love the challenge of finding something I can make my own.
Last summer it was this black cotton lace dress from the 60s or 70s that looked like a A-line doily. I ended up wearing it to two weddings, an art opening and a dinner party and each time I did random women came up to me to comment on it.
I don't always find big things. Last time I left with a handmade felt flower mounted on a clip and damn if that thing didn't find itself clipped to a lapel, purse strap or hat at least once a week all winter long! I've found enough one-of-a-kind treasures along the lines of what Annie J. described that I each time I walk through the door of the Pretty Parlor I'm excited with anticipation over what new gem I'll discover this time.
All that aside - I'm all for supporting indie boutiques. Let's keep Old Navy off Capitol Hill (and look unique in the process) by supporting shops like Pretty Parlor.

Manland at the Pretty Parlor is a great place to shop. I got a pair of brand new whilte Florsheim loafers there recently that are unbelievable. Pinstripe green and turqouise pants with a dark green shirt and matching gold tie...stunning vintage outfit for about $100. You can't beat that. It works formal or party, like a mullet. (pronounced moolay) This place has tons of style, all American made vintage or local design...quite a bit of local design actually...good stuff. The service is uncanny as well, but it stays pretty busy so be patient and you'll get great help.

I have been shopping at Pretty Parlor for a few years now and have never been disapointed. As a performer, Pretty Parlor is a sweet spot for finding beautiful vintage costume peices...I have scored some truly amazing stuff there!! And also for everyday wear, there is always the quirky unique piece that I fall in love with and must have every time I enter those pink doors. Thanks Anna Banana for making a dreamy shop for us Seattle gals and guys!

The Pretty Parlor is my go-to place, whether I have an event coming up or if I'm just not having the best day. Proprietor Anna Banana is a burst of joy, and has a well-developed eye for knowing what will suit you. Dresses that I never imagined I could wear well become flattering flowing gowns with Anna and Ruthie's help. This is the perfect time of year to visit if you're trying out the Parlor for the first time - they'll have the perfect party outfit for you AND the perfect gifts for your loved ones.

(sorry, long review)GOD BLESS ANNA BANANA AND THE PRETTY PARLOR!!!!!!! The owner (miss banana) is not a "pushy" salesperson, but can so accurately read a persons style that she suggests things you never would have tried on out of your own volition. An example: I have been VIOLENTLY anti-sequins for YEARS! not on others, but on myself. i came in looking for something silver for new years. I BOUGHT 2 SEQUIN ITEMS! i wore neither of them on new years, but one top is absolutely me, and i would have never grabbed it if she hadn't recommended it. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL OF THIS REVIEW!!!!!!!! I'm a performer, the other piece (and 1 more purchased at a later date), has become staples in my wardrobe for a number i do, SHE HELPED ME AS AN ARTIST, and that performance would not have been as awesome if it wasn't for her help. The pieces are always sooooo well maintained, and the atmosphere is like cheers with no booze! Pretty Parlor will always hold a special place in my heart..........
IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN THERE GO!!!! if you've been and and didn't see anything you like, stop in next week, or a month from now. It really is one of the gems that makes cap hill an awesome place to be!!!!!!!!!
PRETTY PARLOR IS SO PINK AND SPARKLY AND FUN IT MAKES ME WANT TO WRITE IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!! AND USE TONS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anna Banana and the staff their are like the big sisters I've never had, and they're never too busy to help you get all gussied up for the most sophisticated or wacky of events. Plus, they get vintage cashmere sweaters and great hand-dyed vintage slips, and have cute kitties in the store. HEARTS! HEARTS! HEARTS!

I normally wouldn't step into a place called Pretty Parlor, not being much of a frou-frou type of gal, but it was so goshdarned cute I did anyway and was happy I had that momentary weakness. There's enough vintage and shabby chic among the frills to keep it from being overdone, as well as men's clothing. Plenty of independent designers and a couple of sleek Asian style dresses I fell in love with as well as jewelry, hats and other accessories. Then there's the cat. I love any shop with a cat and this cat loves shoppers. I also like that there's no high pressure sales going on. That may be because all sales are final, but they will hold something for you for a day while you make up your mind. Another nice touch. There are all sorts of nice touches to this place and I'll be going back often.

Great vibe! The Pretty Parlor is what it says: pretty- but amidst all the pink and fluff are a few good suits and funny clip-on bowties. They have a few used racks of jeans (approx $20 for a pair from GAP) and tops, a long rack of local designers that make awesome one of a kind apperal, and a wide selection of vintage hats, jackets, shoes...etc. Mostly inspired by the 20s, but as any modern girl knows... any decade goes!
THEY MOVED TO CAP HILL
