I started seeing Dr. Brown about a year ago upon recommendations from my work colleagues. And boy, they were NOT wrong!

I had one visit and for the routine initial visit/teeth cleaning at that time. Dr. Brown and Michelle were so kind, funny and on top of everything. Then, I had to do what I've been somewhat neglecting: getting a crown replaced. Ugh. Well, I had it done yesterday by Dr. Brown and his assistant (who I can't remember the name of, but she's from former Yugoslavia, amazing).

NO PAIN. I mean, he gave me the local anethesia and so of course that helps, but afterward? NO PAIN. Didn't even need ibufrofren. Nothing. AMAZING work!

They had it done in less than an hour and a half too. I was floored.

Beyond the fact Dr. Brown is just an excellent dentist, he's a very compassionate human being. I remember not long ago he traveled to central america to perform dental work in communities where it's just not available.

Truly more than a dentist. I can't recommend him and his staff enough!

Yesterday morning, a piece of my onlay (like a crown but surrounds only the sides of the tooth) broke off. While FLOSSING. Who said flossing is good for you? Well, I needed it fixed asap because a gaping hole was in my gums and it hurt. And hell no was I going back to my old dentist because 1) she would only make me wait an hour before she got to me; 2) she's the one who chose onlay material that broke in less than a year (these things are supposed to last 5 years!); and, 3) her office staff sucks with billing.

So I called Dr. Brown and spoke to lovely, efficient Michelle who got everything taken care of and okay'd me going to the office when they were going to close for vacation in 45 minutes. AMAZING. Apparently I can't last with the gum hole for an entire week. I dunno, but I really appreciate them squeezing me in.

Dr. Brown is very friendly, very knowledgeable, and explained what happened and how he would patch it up temporarily and what he would do permanently when they came back from vacation. It was almost like talking to a friend who happened to be a dentist.

The patch up work and billing paperwork took a mere hour. I think the most I waited was ten minutes. Compare ten minutes to waiting an hour plus; omigod, I wish I'd known about Dr. Brown before I went to the other dentist. I could have spent ten hours of my life (literally) outside of a dentist's office!! Even without massage chairs and fancy LCD flatscreens, Dr. Brown's office is 1000% times better than my old place.

I found Dr. Brown via Yelp, and it's my duty to provide a review of his services and offices so others on Yelp can use the information wisely.

There's not much to add to reviews that already hasn't been covered.  Easy to make an appointment.  Michelle takes care of everything via email.  When you arrive, you fill out medical information via a computer, not 2007-style paper forms.

Dr. Brown did most of the cleaning himself, not via some other person.  His assistant took the xrays.  Dr. Brown is calm, cool and collected and takes you through his madness.  I now know that when checking for gum-depth, a score of 1-3 is good.  Luckily for me I'm a 1 or 2 on most teeth!  A few 3's scattered in too.

The cleaning is sonic-based, which is high-speed water instead of the old scraper.  Exactly what I was seeking.

Thanks Dr. Brown. You made my dental appointment a great one, and my teeth now feel squeeky clean!

When you're in Dr. Brown's office, you have the comfortable feeling that no detail has been overlooked to make sure that your experience is a good one, and that you get the best possible dental care.   From the stunning office, the ultra-modern equipment, the gentle treatment, the friendly and professional atmosphere, everything is very patient-centric.

Honestly, I can't say enough good things about Dr. Brown and his friendly and efficient staff.

Everything I ever needed to know I learned - this morning - from Preston K. Brown.

Be Good To Yourself.
If you wait three or four years between visits to the dentist, you're almost guaranteed to require some work.  It's just a fact - you gotta take care of your teeth regularly or else they get hella messed up.  And so it is with life: if you let the small things slide - the small, important things that in aggregate make up the bulk of it all - after a while those small things rot and go wrong, and then suddenly they aren't so small anymore.  So be good to yourself, cuz you only get one self.

You Are Responsible For Your Own Happiness.
I had two cavities filled four or so years ago, and my old dentist sort of messed both of them up - one of them wasn't filed down enough, so i can't get a piece of dental floss between them; the other was trimmed down too far, so i have this big ol' gap that food is forever getting stuck in.  Well, guess what - now there are new cavities around both of those points.  The messed up part is I knew about them but didn't bother complaining or doing anything about it - and now I'm dealing with the consequences.  It's the same in life - you can't expect someone else to take care of your random needs, especially the things other people can't really reasonably be expected to know or care about.  So speak up, cuz it's your life and you have as much a right to enjoy it as anyone else.

You Are Responsible For Your Own Actions.
I am literally running out of original tooth surface for new cavities to form on.  When I was a kid I got filling after filling - I mean, I'm 26 and I've had two root canals.  What I never realized - what no one ever told me until I saw Dr. Brown this morning - is that these solutions aren't permanent.  It's not "fill a cavity, or get a crown, and be done with it forever."  It's more like "you will have to repeat at least this, if not more, every decade or two for the rest of your natural existence, or until you decide you don't need teeth anymore."  And so it is with all things in life: your actions have repercussions that expand out beyond your immediate surroundings.  Just because you don't see those repercussions immediately doesn't mean they're not orders of magnitude greater than the initial impact.  You have to weigh the consequences of your actions on your current self as well as your future self, not to mention other people's selves.  Take care in your thoughts and actions, because their effects can be amplified well beyond what you might expect at first blush.

There are other lessons to be garnered from the story of my visit - A Little Kindness Goes A Long Way and Stay Positive among them - but I won't bore you with them.  The lesson, then?

Go see your f'ing dentist.  Now, and then every six months after that.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Brown earlier this week and I seriously could not wait to go home and Yelp about how FABULOUS my experience was.

First off, his office space is AMAZING! Super modern design. It doesn't even feel like you're in a dentist/doctor's office which is what I LOVED. His staff is REALLY wonderful too. They immediately greeted me when I got in the office and had me sign-in. They are trying to paper-less, so the entire check-in process is done via a computer  which was really cool.

My entire visit, from beginning to end, was so much more than I expected and/or anticipated. Ljerka, Dr. Brown's Dental Assistant, and Dr. Brown were extremely thorough with everything and they make you feel so comfortable. Ljerka took all my X-rays first and then Dr. Brown came in. They were both really friendly and just genuinely nice people who really care about the patient. I had two sealants done and Dr. Brown even checked up on me later that day to see how I was doing.

Hands down, I 100% recommend Dr. Brown. Again, him and his staff are truly devoted to the satisfaction of their patients and will do anything in their willpower to make sure everyone is happy and gets the treatment they deserve.

Dr. Preston Brown rocks.

From the moment I called to make my first appointment - the staff in Dr. Brown's office were nothing but exceptional and professional.

When I came in last week for my initial consultation/teeth cleaning - the ladies at the reception area - were all smiles - and instructed me to fill in all of my health info on a nearby computer. No pesky hard to read paper forms. In a matter of 4 minutes I was done. I sat down and before I knew it I was being led to a dentist's chair.

Dr. Brown's office is incredible. Everything is new, state of the art, and chic. Yes - a dentist's office can be chic. His dental assistant Ljerka was personable, gentle, and encouraging as she took X-rays of my teeth. Once she was done - Dr. Brown came in - and introduced himself with a warm handshake and genuine smile.

He then brought up all of the X-rays his assistant had just taken -  on a digital screen above my head. I've never seen anything like it! He was able to go over all of my teeth - while I looked on with him. He was exceptionally detail-oriented - and explained what procedures and precautions I may want to look into with my teeth down the road. All of his advice was well-informed and made sense.

When it came down to my cleaning - - there were no sharp jabbing tools like in other dentist's offices (other than one brief part at the end - where he used a standard tool to clean better). He primarily used a sonic cleaning tool - which cleaned my teeth perfectly.

I left Dr. Preston Brown's office feeling great. I had clean white teeth. No sore gums. I had a follow-up appointment. And I left knowing that I was in the hands of an extremely capable dentist and staff - who's primary concern is to make sure their patient's teeth are healthy and well.

If you've had bad dentist experiences in the past - see Dr. Preston Brown. He will change your outlook of dentistry. By getting you involved with what goes on in your mouth - Dr Prestore Brown- teaches his patients how to take responsibility for their teeth, by allowing them to better care for them.

Dr. Brown is a great Dentist...., but the cool part is that his entire staff is cool, friendly and calming.  Plus his Office/Suite is absolutely beautiful.

Dr. Brown is young and good looking....., AND he does one of those "Doctors Without Borders" type things each year and donates his time....., makes him even hotter !

If you want someone competent - go to Dr. Brown.  What brought me to Dr. Brown's office was a botched crown I got from Dr. Lynn Mieger (read my review on her - and oh, DON'T GO THERE).  My botched crown needed to be completely replaced and this time around, I definitely needed to make sure I was going to have someone who did it right.  Enter Dr. Brown....

First off, because my botched crown had been bothering me for about 8 months, Dr. Brown decided that I see a specialist to make sure I didn't need a root canal.  On the day I went to see the specialist, Dr. Brown had already sent all my x-rays, background information and findings so that the specialist could learn all about my situation before my appointment.  The dental assistant who was with me said that she never knew a dentist as thorough as Dr. Brown. Going out of his way to get all that paperwork over in such short notice.  I agree!

After finding out that I didn't need a root canal (yay!), we went ahead and replaced my crown.  After my procedure was done, it just reaffirmed how bad of a job Dr. Mieger did.  He was very precise and thorough.  He really cares about the quality of his work and wasn't rushing through like most dentists do in order to get to his next patient.  Needless to say, my recovery was quick and I am now pain free.  His assistant Ljerka was so sweet and both she and Dr. Brown told me exactly what they were doing throughout the whole procedure to keep me at ease.  No surprises.

I even got a friendly text message from Dr. Brown a few hours after my procedure asking me if I was doing OK!

Michelle, the practice manager was a doll!  She scheduled me ASAP when she found out about my situation and really helped me out with my whole mess with Dr. Mieger.

Dr. Brown and Michelle are great at returning emails and really take care of their patients.   Last by not least, Dr. Brown has "cookie Fridays".  You get a cookie just because it's Friday!  How awesome is that?!

If you do your best to avoid going to the dentist or simply don't like your dentist...GO TO DR. BROWN, NOW! He is the best dentist I have ever been to. Today was my first visit with him and I have to say for someone who has avoided going to the dentist and didn't like her dentist, everything has changed in just one visit.

10 Reasons why you must go to Dr. Brown:

1. What a beautiful and modern office space (not your average office that is bland and boring)...nice artwork, great furniture, good magazines, and smells nice...doesn't look like a dentist's office...so you don't feel like you are in one. And it's freaking clean!!!

2. The music didn't suck. For god's sake they were playing Ne-yo.  Catchy and you know you know the words and want to sing. Not your average 96.5 K-O-I-T station.

3. Michelle the receptionist is very nice and helpful. Very polite. When I first entered she shook my hand and introduced herself.

4. No filling out annoying patient forms. Instead, you sign yourself in at the computer...time saver.

5. Ljerka (the assistant) was super nice and made me feel at ease when I was feeling uber nervous. She took my x-rays and guided me through and explained what was going to happen.

6. Using  new technology, x-rays are easier for them and for you. After you are done with the x-rays, you can view all your teeth on the computer screen. Interesting and cool.

7. You get goodies: floss and a toothbrush...how can you wrong with that? Goodies and clean teeth..it's a win win situation!

8. They treat you more than just a patient but they treat you along with your teeth and gums with TLC.

9. They are very understanding about your financial situations and will do the best they can to accomodate you--insurance or not.

10. Dr. Brown is super cool. He made me feel comfortable, answered all my questions, explained to me what was happening during the cleaning, and is very funny and thoughtful. I didn't feel nervous or uncomfortable. He is a dentist who takes pride in taking care of his patients and you will see that from the moment he shakes your hand. And, my teeth never looked better and cleaner...no soreness or irritation.  I recommend him to EVERYONE!

I've been going to Dr. Brown for a few years now and I recommend him any time dentistry comes up.  He and his staff are friendly and down-to-earth.  I always feel cared for and valued as a patient and feel that I am receiving top-notch dental care.  Also, they are very patient about all-too-frequent insurance/billing issues.  For example, I recently had to pay the entire cost of a crown because of shoddy work by Rutner Dental (see my Rutner Dental review) and, out of sympathy, Michelle offered to reduce the cost slightly.

Plus, the new office with its Italian cabinetry and lofty feel makes it feel less like a stuffy dentist's office.

I don't think anyone enjoys going to the dentist, but, I have to admit, I do look forward to my appointments with Dr. Brown. The office staff is amazing, friendly, and works with you the way you want. Prefer email over the phone? They're on it. (Shout out to Michelle!)

Dr. Brown himself is warm, caring, and fun. He's very thorough, but you feel like you're done with your appointment before you know it because he keeps you entertained the whole time.

The office is brand spankin' new...equipment, furniture, everything.

I've recently moved to San Diego, but I'm seriously considering making a semi-annual trip to San Francisco to have my teeth cleaned!

Dr. Brown and his staff are my heroes. Today I went into Dr. Browns office with a huge tooth ache (you know the wisdoms are not so wise). I came out of there feeling so much better. Not because he did anything to my mouth, but he did everything to soothe my soul. He wasn't able to extract my tooth but recommended an oral surgeon, sent over all my info to them, prescribed some nice pain medication to hold me over, and just made me feel so special.

I was recommended to Dr. Brown by another dentist who wouldn't be open on friday. I spoke to Michelle, who is wonderful, and she had me come in right away.  Who knew that within half an hour I would have everything I needed to get rid of a wisdom tooth? The oral hygenist was also wonderful, she made sure I knew everything I needed to know about wisdom teeth, and explained my x-ray with great detail.

Don't even get me started on how awesome the office looks, jesus christ I've never seen a more beautiful dentist office. AND they use method soap, which just happens to be one of my favorite brands.

I could go on and on, I can't wait to get dental insurance so I can sign up with Dr. Brown for good.  I was so pleased, happy and grateful for their help today. I owe them big time, and I will be recommending them to anyone who is in need of a great all around dental office. Thanks guys you saved me today!

I arrived to San Francisco traveling from Ireland at the end of August. This city is fantastic - so much fun stuff to do. So during my first week I was getting out and about as much as my legs could handle those hills! On one of those evenings as I was cycling home from the beach, the wheel of my bike got caught in the cable cars tracks on Market St. I was launched through the air  landing with a heavy thud on the ground and chipped one of my back teeth in the process. My boyfriend had told me that if I ever needed to find out anything about this city, I should use Yelp and this was how I found out about Preston K. Brown. Good Job I did! I was pretty sure that the tooth had not been badly damaged and Preston made  a simple job of sanding down the minor ragged edge - no numbing needed! I had just visited the dentist back home before traveling to the US and knew that no immediate work needed to be done on my teeth. Preston did not try to enforce other treatments on me at all and I was in and out of the practice within 30 minutes. Thanks to Preston and all your kind staff.

Who knew dentistry could be so fun!  Dr. Brown had been recommended to me by several friends, but I hadn't made my first appointment - until I had my first emergency, when one of my teeth spontaneously broke in half, at 4pm on a Friday!  I'd made a couple of frantic phonecalls, and Dr. Brown called back right away.  He came in - on his day off - and fixed me up temporarily, which he's since replaced with a permanent crown, in addition to providing the best cleaning I've ever had.

Due to severe childhood trauma (F-you, Dr. Mullen, wherever you are, hopefully prison or at the bottom of a lake wearing cement shoes), I'm a big baby when it comes to giant needles being jabbed into my gum.  Not only did the hygienist hold my hand and coo soothingly, but I didn't feel a thing and it wasn't sore at all afterwards!

A relaxed, hip environment with state-of-the-art equipment, a caring and fun staff, plus a knowledgeable, gregarious dentist - Dr. Brown's the best.

Wow, I can't believe i haven't written a review for Dr. Brown and his office yet...  I pretty much spent more time here this past winter than w/ my friends and family -- sad, right?  Yes.  But lucky for me, Dr. Brown is a first rate professional and his staff is super friendly and welcoming.

His office is run like a well oiled machine - never a wait (pet peeve of mine) and he is super detailed and clean, which is a great thing when it comes to improving the health of your teeth!

If you are in need of a dentist that you'll have for awhile go ahead and give Dr. Brown a shout.

I love going to the dentist because of Dr. Brown and his staff!  I had a dental emergency, and had to get an appointment within the next day or so.  I called around to different offices but no one could get me in on short notice.  I spoke to Michelle to try to get an appointment, and although Dr. Brown was all booked up for like a month, she realized I had to get in right away and squeezed me in for an appointment the next day.  I was so grateful!

Everyone there was so nice and so helpful.  I have never left the dentist feeling more than depressed until this visit.  It was quick and painless, and everyone worked with me to make sure it went smoothly and the cost was low.  Dr. Brown even called me afterward to make sure that I was doing okay!

I had to get a new bridge, and they came up with three options for me, outlined exactly what it would entail, the cost to me, and what could be potential problems so that I could make an educated decision.  It was really helpful to me, and it made me much more comfortable that he didn't just tell me what I should do but instead gave me options and explained the pros and cons.

I strongly recommend him!!

OMG - why has it taken 32 years to find a dentist that educates me about my dental health and solves my problems?!

Dr Brown's practice is a mouth opening experience because:

*everyone is extremely friendly and helpful
*prime location with bay view
*full, right on, consultation that really makes you understand what's up
*thorough cleaning exam that finally made me understand the cause and how to prevent gum disease
*I had a crown done wrong a couple of years ago and I felt like Dr Brown was very detailed in fixing it right and even gave me a follow up call that same day to check in

They are really interested in your mouth's health and to make it a pleasant personal experience and don't need a "free spa service" to entice you.

Hands down the best dentist in town. Dr. Brown is a genuinely wonderful person and a talented doctor. I had not been to the dentist in about 2 years when I first went to see him (I had bad prior experience with a dentist out in the Richmond and if  I could remember the butcher's name I would one star his yelpless soul), and I knew I needed a ton of work: filling replacements, caps--make that 3, and a bunch of other teethy kinda stuff.

Dr. Brown laid everything out and then set up the phased game plan. My teeth and gums are in the best shape ever--even though I have a ways to go for total dental perfection, I am happy with my progress.

Also, everyone in the office is friendly, and I feel right at home. I have to give a shout out to Lorna, the rock star dental hygienist extraordinaire--after she is through cleaning my teeth, the Pope could eat out of my mouth--not that I would let him though.

Dr. Brown is great.  His staff is responsive, and genuinely friendly, which really helps when you're walking into an office to have a metal drill put in your mouth.

I recently had a cavity filled by Dr. Brown, and I didn't feel a thing.  From the moment he numbed the left side of my mouth to the moment he polished up the filling, I couldn't have been more comfortable.

Even more, he gave me a call later that day to check in and make sure that everything was alright.

Overall, awesome dentist, awesome staff, and a killer practice.  You can't go wrong with Dr. Brown.

When I was a kid, I used to dream of being rich or at least having $20 to spend however I wanted.  Not to use for lunch money or to save and place in my piggy bank, but to buy candy and lots of it.  My dream consisted of my mom or my dad driving me to the Fastrip Market and just being able to buy every candy bar in the whole aisle.
Needless to say, when I did have spare money from allowance that was sporadically paid to me, I bought candy bars.
So over the years of needing to have my teeth cared for and having fillings placed from years of living part of my dream, I had to find a good dentist in the city.
Dr. Brown was recommended highly through my old company and I thought I would give him a try.  He took a look at my teeth and I had to admit to him that I have a deep love for candy.  He just smiled and said, "no problem, I'll totally take care of everything."  He is completely gentle and everything you could ask for in a dentist. I've had him replace all of my fillings from my childhood with porcelain fillings.  Now when you look in my mouth, it looks like I've never had a cavity.

Dr. Brown is an amazing dentist and a very kind and caring person.  I have never had such a positive experience going in for a teeth cleaning, and I felt like Dr. Brown took extra time to establish a doctor/patient relationship and to examine my medical history.  He is definitely the kind of dentist who takes an active interest in his patients, and wants to give them the dental care they need and deserve.  His office uses equipment that comes from state-of-the-art technology, and Dr. Brown takes care to explain what each relevant instrument is and why he chooses to use it.  Dr. Brown uses a bizarre but incredibly cool Water Pik for the main cleaning and then has his hygienist polish at the end.  I feel incredibly lucky to have found him, because I just happened to check out his office on the way to work one morning.  The office manager, Michelle, is absolutely wonderful and will set you up with an appointment and give you a courtesy call prior to your cleaning.  I highly recommend this dentist, and truly believe he has his patients' best interest at heart.  Likewise, Dr. Brown's dental hygienist, Ljerka, will make your visit extremely comfortable and will charm you with her warm spirit and good humor.  I still love the dentist I went to growing up, but Dr. Brown's office is in a league of its own.
