Love this place! Had a private event here and everyone loved it - the staff and decor are top notch. I can't say enough good things about the staff - helpful, kind and down to earth. No one in our group felt intimidated or uncomfortable in this swank upscale lounge. Great for small gatherings or large parties!
Oooooh. What a fab new place for wine tasting! I got to go to the preview party, and whoooaa, was I impressed. The Press Club is a huge gorgeous space on Yerba Buena Lane that houses 8 wineries from Northern California, including Landmark and Miner. This spot is pretty swank and modern, but inlaid with wood and low lit to give it a warm, cozy feel.
In each tasting room, staff from the wineries pour and chat with you about what you're drinking. Bottles can be bought on the way out. My fave wine was definitely the 2004 blend from Miner. Of course, it was $70. Not that I bought it. Why, oh why, must I have such expensive taste???
The word on the street is that Press Club will open the week of April 28th.

I had an evening of wine country without actually being in wine country. In fact, I was only a block away from work! What a fab concept!
The LUSH-ious Ladies of Yelp had a sneak peek at Press Club during the press preview party, and we were wowed! We had actually gone on a hard-hat tour of the venue only the month before, and the transformation was incredible. Located around the corner from Four Seasons Hotel on Yerba Buena Lane, this chic urban tasting room offers personalized tasting sessions with representatives from 8 wineries from Napa, Sonoma and Santa Cruz: Chateau Montelena, Fritz, Hanna, Landmark, Miner, Mount Eden, Pahlmeyer and Saintsbury. In fact, this is the only public site where you can have a tasting of Mount Eden and Saintsbury wines.
As you enter, you're greeted by the concierge who checks you in, much like being checked into a hotel or spa. You receive a "credit card" which allows you to go around to each winery and purchase tastings.
The swanky and relaxed setting is far from being pretentious, and for amateurs like me, the staff is really helpful in educating you about their wines. And although the 8 wineries have their own separate spaces, they all work together like one big family. Each winery offers something unique, so you might just want to take home a bottle from each one of them. For an amazing white, be sure to have Landmark's Overlook Chardonnay, which is comprised of 22 vineyards. Landmark also has an amazing Pinot and Syrah that is not to be missed.
Tasty bites will also be available when Press Club opens to the public next week, which makes this a wonderful after work, pre-dinner/party spot to converge before a night out on the town!

Now THIS, is a fantastic concept!!
I am a wine lover, errr, stalker, err, oenophile, err, let's just say I'm obsessed with the offerings of aged grapes. Wine is a huge part of my life and has been for a very long time, so when my connected co-workers dangled the wine-dipped carrot in front of me last night and said, "Hey Stephy, we're going to Press Club to drink wine. It's the VIP event, so hello, wine!!" well, how could I say no?
And so the Fab Yelpette Four (Me, Connie C, Jessica T and Nicole G) strutted on over and walked in to see a beautifully modern and cool entry way comprised mostly of cork. It was beautiful, but it only got better as we traveled on down the staircase and were lured into the very cool atmosphere this place is rocking. It's kinda loungy and upscale, but not in that intimidating way which is great, because nothing tends to put me off more than a place that is trying too hard. The lighting is flattering, the woods are dark and the staff pouring the wines are all friendly, informative and just plain cool.
As for the wines, ooooooh boy, this place pours man wines. None of that frou frou girly crap that far too many SF places seem to pour. Newp, this was a delicious 8-stop offering of strong, full-bodied pours like the ones from Miner (the true standout of the night), Chateau Montelena and Landmark. The latter offered up one hell of a deeelish Syrah that I can't wait to introduce to my collection soon! As a bonus you can buy bottles here, which i will be doing very soon! The Landmark Syrah I mentioned was only $27.00 and it tasted amazing!
I will definitely be back once this placed is officially open as it is sooo close to the office. Also, if you are traveling to SF and don't get a chance to actually head up to wine country, definitely do a stop in here as they are offering the best of the best and I couldn't have been happier here!

Hot off the Press!
Preview party. Open to the public end of April. Impressive subterranean space in the Four Seasons building; a great line up of Northern California boutique wineries; friendly service. Clever concept to bring some of the best of the Wine Country downtown. Go back? Yes, to see how it "really is" when they are operational.
Place. Entering off wind-swept Yerba Buena Lane, you descend into a grand room with elegant lines, rich dark woods, and subdued lighting from beautiful contemporary fixtures. Each of the two wings offers tasting bars of four wineries. At the back is a private tasting room seating twenty.
Wines. Just eight wineries represented -- Chateau Montelena, Fritz, Hanna, Landmark, Miner, Mt Eden, Pahlmeyer and Saintsbury. You will charge your tasting card as you sip; pricing to be set by the wineries. If you enjoy reds, be sure to try the Pinots Noirs from Landmark and Saintsbury; and the Cab Sauv from Montelena and Bordeaux blend from Pahlmeyer.
Food. Small bites menu to accompany the wines, both savory and sweet. Tonight, the dry cured beef and other meats were great with the red wines, as was the dark chocolate fondue.
Service. A bit overwhelmed since it's a preveiw night but the staff from each winery were pleasant and seem knowledgeable. It's also nice to get a geographic overview of Napa and Sonoma, and compare the two regions in this one place.

I had a great time and the opening event for the Press Club. It is a beautiful space--much larger than I expected. The food was good. This would be a great place to throw a private event.
My favorite wine that I tried was the Sav. Blanc from Hannah Winery--definitely try it!
