Update - the wedding was perfect, the guests all had a great time and I only have good things to say about the Golden Gate Club staff and location itself!

After weeks of driving around the bay area looking for a wedding site, we finally picked the Golden… Read more »
The big day arrived faster than I could have ever imagined it would come. The beautiful ceremony had concluded and it was time to PARTY! I couldn't believe how pretty this place was. We had an ocean view and everywhere you looked there were trees and beautifully manicured lawns. Dinner and dancing was held in the Ventanas Room. As the name suggests, a complete wall of the rectangular, two story room was floor to ceiling windows. Some guests were seated in the balcony area, which was pretty far removed from the rest of the group, that was the only drawback. Otherwise, the main room comfortably sat about 150 guests. A decent sized dance floor and a stage completed the room. At one point during the night the bridesmaids may have been dancing on stage, but until there is physical proof produced, that is just a rumor. :) It was absolutely lovely.

We didn't get married here, but I've been to lots of events here and it's a fabulous spot. I think this place is especially good in the daytime (or ooooh, at sunset!) because of the great lighting, the amazing views and the airy feel you get from the giant picture windows. The staff is really professional and can explain all the contracts and the hoo-hah. And the chapel up the hill is storybook charming.
It's not super cheap but the fact that the money is going to the national parks should take some sting out of the cost. And then there's the free parking. That'll save you a bucket of money right there.

The quintessential SF wedding spot. We got hitched here in Dec. 08 and it was amazing. You get the run of the place to yourself and since we had about 170 people it was more than enough room. We got married in the one of the front rooms, had cocktails in the other and had the party in the main room. The great thing about the GGC is the windows. You have floor to cieling windows that harbor a spectacular view of the bay, presidio and the bridge. Seriously, you hardly need any decor as the view does it all. Guests were raving about the venue!
The staff is helpful and the venue has all you need. Parking, space and you can crank up the music since you have the place to yourself.
It is a great place to have all your events in one spot and party the night away!

What an amazing venue.
We've had several fairly large business events here and they've always gone off without a hitch... even when there were bomb-sniffing dogs involved. With sweeping views of the GG Bridge and the Presidio, the GG Club can't be beat. A short drive up the hill to the entrance courtyard and then into the foyer. The large main room is definitely the belle of the ball with it's magnificent views and wall of windows but the other smaller rooms range from cozy to airy and lined with windows.
The smell of eucalyptus wafts through when the doors are open and you can almost see the ghosts of the Presidio past wandering the halls - I wouldn't be surprised if some of them actually do wander the halls.
A simple, old elegance graces the "I" shaped venue. Amenities include a kitchen, a private parking lot and an enormous overflow parking lot. The grounds are lovely and you couldn't beg for it to be better situated.

Spent the day at a conference at the fine Golden Gate Club in San Francisco's historical Presidio. Striking views of the GG Bridge & ample parking. Lovely natural light during the day & although I've not been once the sun goes down, I'm sure it is stunning at night.
Highly recommend for special occasions and gatherings.

Oh yes. This was among the top choices for our wedding reception. The views are absolutely amazing, the room is big, there are high ceilings, there's a stage, there's a giant dance floor. Plus, the Presidio is awesome, Shirley (the woman in charge) is SUPER nice and wonderful, it's just fabulous. Yes yes yes.
Unfortunately, at $6000, it was a bit out of our price range. If you plan to use the Golden Gate Club on a Saturday, you have to buy out the entire building (that's where the $6k comes in). And in my opinion, that's a lot of dough, especially considering you only get the room for that price; no tables, no chairs, no nothing.

We looked at this space for our wedding. While I can understand the positive reviews of it, as it does have nice views and the Presidio is a cool place, for us it did not work. The capacity is great at 180, but it does not have a space where you can do the wedding ceremony. The church nearby is the only good option, but we did not want to get married in a church, so we had no good option. Pookie did not like that there is a large cemetery nearby either.
Upsides are definitely the view, the danceable floor, and this is one of the few places where you can bring your own food if you like. The price tag for a Sunday was $4,500, for Saturday I think it was $6,000.

I just attended the Conversational Marketing Summit here. The location of course is awesome, there's free parking in SF and the event staff was good (a little hard to find for people not familiar with the Presidio - but the website has great maps and directions http://www.presidio.go...).
I also attended a wedding here a couple years ago and remember that it was beautiful.
Only drawback if you are having meetings here is very limited connectivity (hard when you stick over 200 online marketers, publishers and bloggers in one place)
The views of the bay with the trees is awesome and my first morning at the conference I wondered how I would keep my attention and then they lowered the floor to ceiling shades.
This place is great for photographing weddings. Lots of big windows letting in a lot of beautiful natural light, not to mention that it has all of the Presidio right outside its door.
Another amazing venue for weddings. Why I love it?
-The view from the Ventana room
-The beautiful Ventana room with a fireplace, stage, built in dance floor & NO UGLY Ballroom carpet!! It's a blank slate that can be transformed to whatever you envision.
-The Post Chapel is literally steps away, making this venue a great location for people that want a church wedding but don't want to send their guests throught the city in search of the reception site.
I love it!! They are holding a showcase on sept 19th 4 pm = 8pm. Check it out!!

Another successful wedding at a beautiful venue! Doing a wedding at a great venue makes our job that much easier. I cannot wait to do more weddings at The Golden Gate Club, anyone getting married soon... wink, wink.

Very cool space for a meeting or conference. The sound is good, staff is friendly, but the view is the highlight. They have several different shades for the huge windows that can automatically retract to a great view of the bay...
we looked all the way down to carmel. we searched all the way up to sonoma. and then we decided, "why not get married in san francisco?" no one we know ever has! and then our search got more targeted...until the magic moment when we arrived at the Golden Gate Club and stared in awe out the floor-to-ceiling windows at a beautiful view of the bay.
and to make matters more romantic - our ceremony will be held at the Main Post Chapel - just a hop, skip & jump up the hill.
**UPDATE!
we just got married on Sunday, May 27 and it was so dreamy!!! the rooms were perfection and most of our guests commented that it was the most elegant (and fun!) wedding they have ever attended. it certainly was *my* favorite!
