For those of you who know who Shakira is... know that the girl can dance. For those of you who have never heard of Shakira, you are in need of some dance lessons (check out her video to see why her Hips Don't Lie...)http://www.videocodezo...
I have taken many years of dance lessons but last night when I took Iya Silva's, (the instructor) Samba class, I realized that my hips had a mind of their own. It is a great workout for those of us who can't stand another date with our trainer and are not compatible with a treadmill. Also, there is a great percussion leader, accompanied by another guy playing drums while the entire class learns how to shake, shake it! For more details on the classes, check out the url,

You will leave the class sweaty and wanting more!
Presidio Dance Theatre & Academy is part is the only other performing arts organization other than Wolf Trap in Virginia, permanently housed in a National Park. It offers a dazzling array of dance and other cultural programs, ranging from classes and workshops to performances both in the Presidio and throughout San Francisco. Although most of the classes focus on children and youth, there still are plenty of opportunities for adults to participate. The facilities in the Presidio are new and fantastic. The Theatre puts on an annual dance festival, and the Academy provides instruction in many different dance styles, including lots that are very cultural specific. Check it out!

History
Established in 1998
PPAF was co-founded in 1997 by Judy Bretschneider, Robert Leefeldt and Nancy Johnson who served as officers on the first board of directors. PPAF received its 501(c) (3) status in January 1998 as a non-profit, public benefit corporation. As one of the Presidio's early arrivals, PPAF has had a proud presence at the park and is considered a premiere cultural institution, earning widespread admiration and numerous awards for the impressive quality of its artistic endeavours.
