Driving up  on someone else's word , this place looked like a dump.
The parking is horrible and the area isn't the greatest. but once i get inside they did the train shots. ( everytime a train passes , they offer shots out and ring bells ... so much fun )  the food comes quick and is half way decent and decently priced.  seeing as i live close , i've come back here a few times
pro - food good , awesome atmosphere
con - parking sucks , inside needs a little renovation

i have been eating at PR's for over 10 years, I take all out of town guests and treat them to some great Tex-Mex. This restaurant is an institution in Winter Park and one of my very favorite 'non-obnoxious' crowd places around Orlando. Seriously, how can you be stuck up in this dive? I love it and the food has never made me sick. Whatever does not killyou makes you stronger, long live PR's!

HOW does this place stay in business?  Must be Rollins kids.

I've eaten at this place twice.  First time was about two years ago, some time after we moved here.  It stunk!  Most everything was bad.

Tonight, we were going to eat at another place down the street.  Their website gave inaccurate info, and so we ended up -- finally -- giving PR's a second chance.  BIG regret.

Service?  BAD
Food?  HORRIBLE, no taste

If it has anything going for it, I guess it's an interesting, eclectic atmosphere.  But is that a reason to eat here?  NO.

AVOID.  It's amazing that Kata is so close by, has GREAT food and rarely has a good crowd.  I'd say go THERE instead.  SKIP this place.

If I was going to succumb to eating Tex-Mex, I would never make it PR's Taco Palace.  Although the exterior and interior look appealing, the service is poor, the food is average at best, and my friend got sick with food poisoning from their shady food.  I had heard that the kitchen was dirty but geez I can't believe one of us got food poisoning on our first visit!  I realize the likelihood of it happening again is probably slim, but I just don't trust the place overall as far as cleanliness and the taste certainly isn't worth the risk.  I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that isn't masochistic.

This place could be WAY better than it is.

Parking is a nightmare. You either get one of the 6 spots right in front or you park next to the train tracks on a one way road (coming from the opposite direction) and hoof it.

The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed..., but it is also very dirty, marred up and grimey. On the good side, I like the lighting and colors of the place. Neon signs, and dim bulbs give it a bar-like ambiance which works well for the primarily Rollins College crowd. On the bad side, the vinyl seats are marked up with graffiti via magic markers and sharpies. Am I sitting in wet ink here? Also, the table tops are less than clean, even when wiped down with a rag (which is probably filthy as well). Floors are digusting too. :)

The staff is friendly enough. I don't expect too much in a place that looks like BBQ Bar's restaurant cousin.

Most importantly, there are rumors abound that this is one of the nastiest kitchen's in Orlando. Maybe the cheap liquor shots help mask that natural deduction.

The food itself is not good. And I've been sadistic enough to visit this place a few times to learn that it wasn't a fluke. To get you off on the wrong foot, every meal is preceded by a bowl of "dead-on-arrival" chips and bland salsa. And, the worst excuse for guacamole I've ever tasted. Was this from a powder mix or something?

What's that? Oh, you love the Fundido? A deep fried burrito with cream cheese? Well, here's to your health! A 1500+ calorie "fatso missile" down the hatch.

In nearly every scenario imaginable, I'd recommend that you pass by this place and eat anywhere else.

One of the first places I was ever told to go to was this funky Mexican restaurant in Winter Park.  The parking situation is somewhat sticky so you'll have to be creative if all of their designated spots are full.  Once you've found a spot though, prepare yourself for a one-of-a-kind Taco joint.  The walls, furniture, and artwork are all covered in writing.  For years, patrons have been allowed to leave an indelible mark on anything that they choose.  Unfortunately, most spots are full so again, you'll have to be creative if you'd like to follow the tradition.

The dining room was absolutely packed to the brim with people enjoying margaritas, chips and salsa or one of their enormous burritos.  The food was pretty good but not necessarily "knock your socks off" amazing.  Fun and very unique though.

I agree with Jeff that PR's could be a lot better than it is. I was really looking forward to trying the place out; each time I drove by, I was more and more intrigued by the grungy mystique that emanates from its next-to-the-tracks location. Stories of "train shots" and grafittied had me intrigued.

PR's does have character, I'll give it that. Between the writing on every conceivable  surface, the truly eclectic collection of old beer signs on the wall, and the dark approaching-claustrophobic atmosphere, PR's has the type of grungy ambiance that takes years to cultivate. Unfortunately, instead of the hip college crowd I figured would be in attendance, I was greeted by Winter Park's aging money crowd, "slumming" (as it were! Tee-hee. [pinky out]) after a day at the hedge fund. Sure, there was a contingent of Rollin's kids there, and I know it's silly to judge a place solely by its clientele. I just expected a stoner version of Starlight Video or Austin Coffee, rather than Urban Flat's dirty cousin. Oh well.

The food was overpriced. You can't get tacos for less than $7 bucks, and most dishes were closer to $10. That may be fine, and even cheap, compared with Park Ave., but isn't this supposed to be a counterculture hole in the wall? I must have missed the part of the menu that said my vegetarian chimichanga would include broccoli and green beans. (This was probably a genuine oversight on my part, but really: who ever thought that broccoli and refritos was a good idea?) Other than that, everything was adequate, fresh and hot. But by this point, I had pretty much given up. I can't imagine what would get me back in there.

I'll sum up my review this way: the middle-aged man at the bar next to me tried asking the early-20s bartender to go with him to St. Maarten. Creeeeeeeepy. PR's Management: please scare these people off and bring back that other, hipper side of Winter Park. Or raze the place and put up another Chipotle.

PR's has to be one of my favorite restaurants in the Orlando area.  I love reading all of the graffiti all over the place.  My favorite is fart 4 freedom someone wrote in the ladies bathroom.

The food is OK is you like cheesy, greasy Tex-Mex.

The train shots are where it's at.  The last time I had one they gave me a lowball glass filled with cheap tequila.  It must have been equivalent to 3 shots.  And it only cost $2.

THIS is my favorite Mexican place in Orlando. It's small, dirty and always pretty noisey (which are all three just fine in my book) but the food is amazing. My personal favorite is the Chicken El Diablo but I've tried just about everything they have at some point. Grab a drink and order up...wait to order shots till the train goes by though, they become half price.

I can't believe I took this long to write about PR's... I honestly forgot to mention it. This place is great....really great!

The place has a nice grungy look to it, with writings and drawings on every piece of furniture, the walls, and any other place one could put a pen to. Its location in relation to Rollins College makes it a great place to hangout for college kids, but it is the perfect place for anyone to go to have a drink and have great food.

I personally get a craving for their Chicken Diablo, which is simply a chicken breast cooked with a spicy sauce served with rice and beans. There loads of other great things on the menu, but this is my favorite, not for the lighthearted.

So check this place out and don't forget to ask for the trannies, namely a cheap tequila shot, that is served everytime a train passes by on the tracks right next to the place.

I have eaten here twice.  Both times were business lunches paid for by someone else, and I still felt ripped off.  The food is bland at best, and the service was bad both times.  I would much rather eat at a dozen other Tex-Mex places in Central Florida, including Taco Bell.

We went to PR's today because I thought they could handle a big crowd (14) for lunch. We got everybody at the table, but two they set at the bar right next to our table.  PR's has been a Winter Park tradition for at least 25 years. It is the place to go for lunch on Fridays if you are in the mood for fajitas.  The restaurant looks just the same as I remember it when I moved to Florida in 1982. It just has more graffiti and the bike made from copper tubing is missing from the wall there are TV's in its place. The building still rattles when trains go by on the track a few feet from the corner of the building.

The food at PR's has been pretty consistent since those early days.  PR's is Tex-Mex with lots of cheddar cheese. Today I had one of the combination lunch specials. I choose one Enchiladas, one taco and rice. I had chicken on both the enchilada and the hard taco. The chicken was all white meat which had been shredded. The enchilada was topped with a savory ranchero sauce and then capped with cheddar cheese that was melted under the salamander.  A bed of lettuce was placed under the taco which kept it from becoming soggy with the juicy from the enchilada. The other end of the plate had rice which was topped with a red sauce as well. The presentation was nice.  The meal was very good.
Vegetarians can eat well here too, as the list of filling includes spinach, mushrooms, veggies, and guacamole.
The thing you have to remember at PR's is don't fill up on the chips and endless soda before your meal arrives. I've learned over the years to sit at the bar because your meal will arrive sooner and you aren't as tempted to eat the whole bowl of chips.

PRs...most people would consider the food to be just average, but I love fried goodness so the Chimichanga is just fabulous.  So are the shrimp quesadillas--I know it doesn't sound like a tempting combination, but try it.  PRs is a hole in the wall restaurant, but since your table shakes when the train comes by, they'll give you cheap "train shots" just for the inconvenience.  The number one reason to try PRs is the swirl margaritas.  Sangria and margarita combined means I'll be drinking the whole pitcher, please!

The best chicken chimichanga ever!  I think it's the cheese.  I"ve been eating at PR's since high school (15 - 20 years ago!) and have yet to find a better chimi anywhere.  The salsa is great and the chips are good.  Yeah, it's a bit grungy and loud on weekend nights, but it's a fun place to go.
