I love this place! I was so overwhelmed by the amount of sweets they had when I first walked in! They have so much to offer from gelato to all sorts of gummies! I can't wait to go back there and grab some more delicious sweets! :D

PS: Great place to go after a lovely date with that special someone! ;)

Candy and sweets galore! Muahahaha! Definitely a place for you sweet toothers.

    Here you will find:
    - different flavors of delicious gelato
    - all sorts of candy from old school to whats popular today
    - fun knick knacks that would be good as a gag gift or stocking stuffers
    - a counter where you can order individual pieces of chocolate
    - a movie playing in the background (last time it was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) with a cute little couch to sit and watch on
    - drinks and soda pop you probably thought would only be in the movies (i.e. duff "beer")
    - and more!

It's a fun place to check out if you're hanging out in downtown Los Gatos. I always make sure to leave with a small bag of candy to make the trip worth while. I mean, how can you not resist chocolate covered gummy bears right?!? But do beware, this place can get pretty crowded. So make sure to practice your excuse-me's and i'm-sorry's!

My kids love coming here, what kid wouldn't?  Or adult for that matter!  I like the selection of old school candy they have,  where else are you going to find Sky Bar or Zagnut!  They also sell ice cream, which is nice since WG is flooded with frozen yogurt shops, what about us men?

I live and work in Willow Glen, and I like having a quirky little place like this to walk to with my wife and kids, and even by myself.  The employees are very nice and helpful, and they seem to like their jobs.  They also have  a large sugar free section, so I get candies for my diabetic Dad there, and he loves them.  Powells, I'm a fan.

All Powell's are pretty much created equal but this location was my first and holds a special place in my heart.  You can get almost anything here.  I am always on the hunt for Italian made ZOTZ and Powells (and OSH believe it or not) are the easiest place to find them.  The chocolates are fine but I prefer more fruity things so I'm all about the girly flavored jelly beans or zotz.  Come - hang out and watch Willie Wonka and enjoy the variety!

Walked over here last night after having a swirl at Aqui. Yup I was buzzed, and I wanted candy! This store is candy heaven! I like grabbing a plastic bag and dumping all different kinds of candy in it. My fave are the sour belts and the snow caps that are multi colored and minty yummmm. But I didn't find what I wanted yesterday which was white chocolate! They probably have it but I didn't look hard enough. Oh wells. I wanna try the gelato ice cream next time I go ;p

This charming candy shop is so sweet! Need a dose of nostalgia--browse through this downtown Willow Glen store and fill up on your favorite childhood treats.

Powell's Sweet Shoppe is also a great place to spoil yourself with movie-theater-style candy. When you want to have a lazy DVD-watching-day, this is the perfect candy store to satisfy your urge for old-fashioned goodies.

For the bacon-lover in your family, you can buy: bacon soap, bacon soda, bacon band-aids, bacon air-freshener, bacon mints, bacon chocolate and even purchase a faux bacon wallet or a bendable bacon doll.

Need a last minute novelty gift for that person that's hard to buy for? It's easy to find something silly and cheap here!

The kid in you is dying to come out--unleash your inner child here.

This place is awesome! The first time I went here was for my nephew's birthday scavenger hunt. I thought it was really cool that they even do that here. At the end of the hunt, the kids get to have a cup of the awesome gelato they serve here. All the flavors are so good! I am a complete sucker for stracciatella anywhere I go and their stracciatella did not disappoint.

Since then, I've been here a couple times with friends to get gelato during those warm summer nights and I've gotten some of the chocolates here.  The chocolate-covered mini Oreos are amazeballs, as are the pretzel balls.  What you really want to check out here is their amazing assortment of old-school candies.  Something for everybody!

I've been to the other location in Los Gatos but this one is a little better since they have the original "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" playing in the back of the store with a few seats to sit in. They also have cold soda here. One of those sodas was Jolt cola. I was shocked and excited to see it there especially since they had diet Jolt cola! YAY! For those of you who don't know what Jolt cola is, well, it's a soda that has twice the amount of caffeine and sugar in it. You can also get in in the non diet flavor at BevMo.

They have more than one flavor I think too. The candy selection is amazing! They even have a small selection of European candy. I saw some candy here that I've never seen before. You can find both old and new candy here as well as gelato and chocolate on display Lots of novelty candy and toys can be found here too such as adult themed candy and candy 'vitamins' such as anti-bitch pills, lol! I also like that they have candy flavored lip balm. The prices are reasonable too. This is the place to go when you're craving sweets!

Yay a sweet shoppe! Every time I enter this place it brings back nostalgic memories of when I was a youngin' staring at all the fancy packaging and exotic flavors!

This store stocks up a lot of past candies and introduces many uniquely gross items such as candied larva, scorpion, and ants or soap-flavored taffy. There is also a TV at the back with theater style seating! Buy some candy, sit back, and enjoy a flick!

The gelato here is very good - I have sampled all the flavors and I enjoyed the creme brulee, tiramisu, and carmello chocolate. Yes - Willow Glen Frozen Yogurt is close by, but Powell offers different and unique flavors. I ended up having both Willow Glen's frozen custard and Powell's gelato in one day! Both are great!

Definitely a must for the sweet tooth, childhood nostalgia, and unique morsels!

For a candy shop with this many amazing ice cream flavors, it really pales in comparison to Willow Glen's which is down a couple stores. The flavors are subtle but too subtle. I had a hard time deciding which out of the 6 flavors I liked because they all sort of tasted bland.

-The cookie mint is always a sure hit.
-The chocolate caramel crunch basically was chocolate and no caramel. -Mixing cookie dough and banana walnut together was a great idea.

It was interesting how the ice cream came with the two funnel sticks(?). It gave the ice cream a nostalgic feeling to it. The portions here are smaller and more expensive than Willow Glen.

This is a great old fashioned candy store located in Willow Glen.

Here are some things that I noticed that they had:
    - Old fashioned candy bars (I love Valomilks and you don't see them many places)
    - A large number of pez dispensers
    - A selection of rare sodas
    - Jolt Soda - I thought it was discontinued but it was here
    - Bacon Soda - everyone was talking about the Bacon soda.
    - Vegan Candy, Glucose Free Candy, High Fructose Free Candy

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory played in the background as I would expect in a store like this.

This is a great store for interesting gifts, special treats or just to reminisce.

Greatest place to find, choose and eat candy!  I cannot help but sink into one of the movie theater chairs and watch Willy Wonka too.  I spend at least 30 minutes walking around with my basket to ponder over the eclectic assortment of candies.  They have everything from sex mints to moon pies.  I personally do not eat the sex mints but who knows if someone is looking for them on Yelp.

My favorite part of Powell's is the birthday scavenger hunts.  I have seen these hunts in action and they are fun for the kids.  I am sure adults would like them too.  I highly recommend visiting Powell's when you are in the mood for candy of all sizes, shapes and flavors.  You will definitely find something you will like.

Oh no! Another candy shop. Spied the store from Top Nosh while waiting for our orders. I tried to keep quite but the desire for more of those pink and orange lollys won.

We crossed the street and we're in serious lolly spree! I had to find out who invented my favorite candy of all time.

Most of all this perverse interest in this candy is seriously soo welcome in my life:) So below is what I found out:
    ************************************************** ************************

    Trademark Lollipop
The name lollipop was first coined by George Smith, owner of a confectionery business called the Bradley Smith Company. George Smith named the stick candy after his favorite race horse Lolly Pop. George Smith trademarked the name lollipop in 1931, the name has since fallen into public domain. However, George Smith's story of how he thought up the name might be a true horse tail, since in the northern part of England, "lolly" means "tongue" and the word lollipop may have first originated in England. George Smith still was the only person to trademark the name Lollipop.

Samuel Born and the Born Sucker Machine
Samuel Born was a Russian immigrant who invented a lollipop making machine. In 1916, San Francisco gave the ingenious candy maker the keys to the city for inventing the Born Sucker Machine. The machine mechanically inserted sticks into lollipops. Samuel Born is also credited with inventing chocolate sprinkles, or jimmies for ice cream cones.

    Racine Confectioners Machinery Company
In 1908, the Racine Confectioners Machinery Co. of Racine, Wisconsin invented a machine that could make forty lollipops a minute.

Powell's is determined to derail my gym routine.

Is that really a bad thing though? I've never actually been inside the shop, but my girlfriend keeps bringing me little bags full of their goodies, ranging from muddy bears to gigantic peanut-butter cups.

Maybe it's better this way. After all, could you imagine the damage that would be done if I actually went inside?

As Sweet Shoppe's go, this one is delicious.

Powell's has everything, that sarsaparilla you've been thirsting for, those hundreds of black M & M's to give to your goth friend or even some of that tasty salt water taffy that you can nom on for hours.

Their back area is Willy Wonka themed and showcases a significant amount of movie memorabilia and even includes a viewing couch with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie showing.

Their service is personable, their prices are fair and Powell's will make you want to come back again and again to feed your inner child.

As a candy lover ... this place is one of the best!  Right when you walk in it feels like you are in candy store straight from the Willy Wonka movie.

I love the variety and the novelty candy they have. There are things here I have not seen in ages, like band aid gum, candy cigarettes, and "pill bottles" (filled with jelly beans) for symptoms like "To Hot to Handle".  You can make a great gift basket with all the goodies here.

My favorite items here are the dark chocolate almond clusters, the dark chocolate covered smores and the peanut butter cups.  Everything tastes fresh and the dark chocolate has that great hint of sweetness but not being over sweet.    I also love the jelly beans and this places has all the flavors you can imagine!

Everything is so kid friendly and brings out your inner kid.  A great place to stop for a treat!

I always make sure I stop by here whenever I'm in the area and I get so excited every time, even though I've been here on numerous occasions.

It's so cute and has a lot of the hard to find candies, especially ones that I remember having as a younger kid. Nostalgia at it's finest for sure. They usually have "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" playing on tv as well. I could be stuck in here forever. I don't know any other candy store in the area that carries that much candy (and yummy ice cream and candy accessories) with a decor complimenting it.

Everyone should definitely visit this place at least once. I'm sure you'll be back.

Lovers of Harry Potter's Honeydukes and Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory...it's time to grab some floo powder, your appetite, and allowance (or paycheck)!

Yesterday, I ducked inside this Shoppe and it turned out be one of the happiest moments of my day. I was swept into a sweet dreamworld that even the biggest kid can appreciate. Candy and time suckers behold: this is in no way a 5 minute pit-stop excursion!

At first glance, the bright rainbow of colors, plethora of little boxes, tins, bins, drawers, dispensers, jars, wrappers, labels, memorabilia, (are you getting the picture here?) and ceiling decor had me stunned into complete befuddlement. Wow, just WOW! Peanut Butter Chapstick? Bacon Flavored Toothpicks? The weird. The wonderful. The obscure. Whatever era or generation you claim as your own, it's the "Y" in Candyland and the "Baby" in Ruth. The retro classic or the newly created candy-- it's all there, packed within a store that probably smells like sugar 24/7.

As I was propelled inside by Frank Sinatra singing "Candy Kisses," I started to realize that as crazy insane as this store looks, it's actually very well organized by season, occasion and type of delectable. On the back wall, which is devoted to Willie Wonka, they noted that they carry the following kinds of candy:

    Kosher
    Gluten-Free
    Vegan
    No Corn Syrup

That's right. In other words: You've got no excuse when it comes to finding something delicious and ___________ you fill in the blank from above! After checking out their sweet website, this big kid just wants to know: is there an age limit to having your birthday party here?

In fact, I think I will go back for that 2 pound peppermint stick. It should be just perfect for my exercise routine.

The other night I had a dream that I was buried alive.

But it wasn't wet, smelly dirt surrounding me; I was suffocated with candies.  Tons and tons of candies ranging from special chocolate (with chili pepper or lavender), vintage candies (SlapSticks? Mary Jane? You know it), and what did I find in my nose?  Pink popcorn.  And jelly beans.  With large pool of swirly gelato dripping into my open mouth, gasping for air.  Luckily in my hand I was holding a vintage sock monkey lunch box and inside of it was my cellphone so I dialed 911 for a rescue team.

And who picked up?  None but Willie Wonka himself!

Suddenly I woke up to find that it wasn't a dream.  How did I get here?  WHO AM I???

I admit, I'm not a candy lover - I just don't have much of a sweet tooth.  However, Powell's is a great place for a nostalgic browse through sweets and toys of your past.

The real win for me, though, is that they carry genuine Wham-O Hula Hoops.  I've got a lifelong deep love for hooping (why aren't there hoop dancing classes in the south bay?) and starting in 2nd grade, have owned most of the hooping contests I've ever entered.  Those cheap knockoff Fun Hoops and Swirl Hoops and whatnot you find at discount stores just aren't right - you've got to have that genuine shoop-shoop sound, and you can find it right here, in two sizes and various colors.

Thanks, Powell's, for enabling my shooping and hooping.

This candy shop was perfect for my gift as I was going to London and seeing friends there who adore candy and haven't had much exposure to American candies.

So I went crazy in here, picking up different types of taffy, smarties, laffy taffy, and other types of candy.  I ended up with about 4lbs of candy for them to divvy up. I also picked up a chocolate s'more for the bf and a truffle for myself.

I really had a lot of fun exploring the shop but the attitude of  the female sales associate left a sour taste in my mouth that wasn't the fun candy kind. She just looked at my purchase with "OMG, Really?!" while the other male associate just rang me up without any questions. It prompted me to explain but I ended feeling uncomfortable about it.

Stop judging me and my love of candy, okay? It's one of the best gifts to give to my friends, who promptly divvied it up at the Sunday Roast we were at. They loved all the candy and I'm sure I'll be back to pick up some more.

This is a weird review for me to write.  I don't like sweets that much.  I am definitely NOT a chocolate lover, but it goes in cycles.  Sometimes I eat it cuz it's there and cuz everyone else is eating the Peanut M and M's at work....what the hell, I'm subject to peer pressure sometimes too.  :)

And, sometimes I really crave a sweet, but then I have it and I get over it.  Anyway, that was the preface so you can gauge how helpful this review is to you and how on target it might be, depending upon your personal sweets philosophy.

Powell's is a cute shoppe.  It has a nice location, downtown WG, which is nuclear family central....I swear, I feel like a mutant, having no children, when I walk into the shoppe.  The staff seriously always looks behind me, like my rug rats are just right behind me cuz they can't believe that I would come into this place alone, without kiddies.

This place brings you back to your childhood, provided your parents allowed you to eat sweets like these.  I had a particular fondness for the Eskimo ice cube melt away choccie squares and you can find them here.  They also have nice fudge and the one thing I DO get a mini obsession for every once in a while is the peanut butter chocolate cups, they are massive and they will, if you eat the whole thing in one go, give you the jitters and have you bouncing off the walls from the sugar rush.

The constant music in the background makes me want to jab a pencil in my ear to cause deafness, but if you get in and out quickly you should be able to ignore it.  I would never bring children under the age of 10 here, I am a grinch, eh?  I just think it would be annoying to have to keep fielding the "can I have this?" question from kids the whole visit.

The staff is nice and the prices are okay, probably better to think of this a a special treat place to bring something small to someone you like who DOES like sweets.

Adorable little spot hiding in San Jose!!!

My gf actually found it for me. She gave me the address and told me to just follow my Google Map. When I got there, it was like stepping back in time to an old-fashioned candy shop. I immediately started loading up on goodies for my parents, who I knew would love old Mars Bars and Milky Ways. There were old-time candies, new candies, novelty joke candies, and even some toys! I also grabbed some stuff for my gf, who's got the biggest sweet tooth in the world.

But the real surprise was the order my gf had put on hold for me. My FAVORITE candy bars, Wonka Bars, had been discontinued! Powell's had 2 large cases of Wonka Bars waiting for me. I was so surprised to find my favorite candy that I wanted to cry.

The staff thought it was so sweet that my gf called in the order that several workers came to talk to me about it. They were all so nice, and knew their candies. I was definitely impressed.

Deng, if I hadn't eaten a huge lunch, I would've spent a little money on the goodies here. They have a crazy selection of different sweets, gifty items and cartoon memorabilia. If you're the sweet tooth kind of person, I don't suggest you going here because it will literally eat you up with the cuteness and make you crave everything in sight. But if you're brave (or broke) come by this place because there were some pretty unique candies and and coffee mugs that would be good for your belly and your kitchen set. If you have the time, spend more than 5 minutes. There's so much to see, you might miss something if you're not careful.

Talk about literally a CANDY STORE. It's not a "candy store" like Sweet Factory it's a CANDY STORE! I was definitely amazed when I walked in. I grabbed a basket and started to browse. I'm a dark chocolate lover. They literally had so many dark chocolates to choose from. I did not know which one to get. I love how they carry the Resses Whoppers those were so good! TO DIE FOR. That reminds me I need to go back and get more someday.

Bring your kids here bring yourself here. This store will make you feel like you're a kid once again. CAUTION: If you bring your kids here I'm pretty sure they're going to want EVERYTHING! I wanted everything but realistically I couldn't get everything.

Love this store and love the location. The day I came I spent $30 on just candy. That is barbaric I can't say I won't do it again I probably will. That's why I try not to come so often I would spend to much. Plus I wouldn't want to over indulge myself to much.

Not the best candy shop I've been to, but 4 stars nevertheless because this place is definitely a gem of San Jose!  I dig the Willy Wonka/Julie Andrews soundtrack they have constantly playing in the background.

I'm more into chocolate than candy--and I was disappointed by their international chocolate selection.  They had popular brands like Lindt, Dagoba and Ritter Sport in flavors that I've never heard of before, but none of the premium euro/central american/south american chocolates I was hoping to find.  American chocolate is crap to me, and I came in with the expectation of getting my international fix based on all the yelp hype.  Damn you sugar-crazed people!

:) jk!  Candy makes one overly excited... I totally get it.

If classic American candy is your deal--then this place rocks.  They have strawberry whoppers, zero bars, hint mints, novelty m&ms, classic pez heads, oh henry's...and you pretty much name it.  A huge selection of candy you don't see around much any more.  Also, a good selection or rare bottled sodas like pure sugar cane coke, and classic root beers.

I was most excited about the novelty items in the store.. like HARRY POTTER CHOCOLATE FROGS!!!!!!!!!!  They even have collectible cards :)  Also, they had hilarious Shakespeare insult gum, a must-have for any connoisseur of....life, really.

The quality of their gelato is mediocre, but I like how unique and candy-orientated the flavors were.  The candy and nutty flavored ones captured the flavor of the add-ins without being too crunchy.  The portions here are bigger than most gelato places, and the heaping cups melt fast--be sure to ammo up with napkins.  I got the smallest child size and still thought the helping was very generous--and it even came with a long pirouline cookie wafer. You can get a deal on pint-sized gelato if you print out Groupon coupons beforehand.  There's a mini-movie theater set up at the back of the store where you can sit and enjoy your gelato--a nice touch.

Count on having to find street parking, because the lots on this block are very small.  Lincoln Avenue is a fun little strip to hang out at in Willow Glen.

I received a gift certificate with my purchase today, so I'll definitely be back for a chocolate frog or two next time I'm in the area.

I heard about this place from a good friend. This was my first time going to a place like this. So as i walked him my first initial reaction is that you have actually walked in to a candy factory like the move Willy Wonka.
They actually have the movie at the back of the store playing, and they also have movie theater like seats.

They have every kind of candy that you can imagine there. They also have a wide variety of jelly beans too, which was a nice touch. What really caught my attention was that they had stuff from when i was a little kid there, that i have seen for years and it really brought back good memories.

When i was there i had to try the Gelato, they had there. It was really nice of them to let you taste test each one. I got the peanut butter cup with Dark Chocolate. I thought that those two were a nice mixture and also who ever was working there said it was a good combo too.

The location for the store is great. It makes you feel really elegant there. Also the customer service there is great. Like i said she let me taste test each one and also she was really friendly. My overall experience there was absolutely great. I would highly recommend this place to take someone who has a craving for sweets.

I'm going to keep this short.

    -large variety
    -great customer service
    -2.39 per 1/4 lb I believe.
-truffles are 1.39 per piece (which is quite pricey)
-offers soda, but not a large range. It doesn't sell Jones, which was disappointing!

I feel bad for the workers! They must get sick of working there since the candy song is always on and charlie and the chocolate factory is always playing! However, I'll be back soon and often :)

I had high hopes for this place, and I can't really say I was disappointed. I think maybe I don't have as much of a sweet tooth as I once had. Jatinder S. and I spent awhile browsing about, and I definitely found some yummy items, but most of the stuff I bought for my family. I bought a variety of well-known candies, specialty candies from the counter (their dark-chocolate pecan turtle was my favorite buy), and a couple hard to find sodas. It was all a little pricey, but overall I was happy with my trip.

Like I said, my sweet tooth just isn't what it used to be. I won't be making a special trip out here, but I'll definitely stop in when I'm in Willow Glen.
