I stuck between a 2-star and a 3-star review here. We hired PLF to cater our wedding and for all the prep work, we were very, very impressed. Our contact was very helpful, and walked us through the numerous details that planning a wedding requires. She put together a menu that reflected exactly what we had envisioned for our wedding. Had this been my only experience, I would have rated them 4 or 5 stars.
However, the wedding day arrived, and that great service that we had experienced up until then disappeared. Our contact was abrupt, snide and difficult to work with. The bartender and other staff member we had to pay for stood behind the champagne table and did nothing. The food portions were small; it was a buffet, but not everyone was able to get something to eat. The person on staff disappeared and we had to go find them to get them to cut the cake, which he proceded to mangle to the point where my mother -in-law decided that it wasn't worth it to save most of the leftovers. Really?? A wedding cake?? None of that should ever be thrown away. Come on! In addition, the bill was at least 35% higher than we were originally quoted. It ballooned from about $25/head to practically $50. I can't believe we had to pay so much for such crappy service, a ruined cake, and practically no food. After the wedding, they took our cake pedestal, cake cutters, and I think some other items back and required that we come pick them up, even though we live far away.
For a company get-together, or business lunch, they might be fine, but for a wedding, look elsewhere.Comment from Malinda H. of Pour La France Catering 8/31/2011
