I attended a free terrarium potting class yesterday and it was so much fun! I have a black thumb and was apprehensive about whether I could do this. The instructor, Anna ("the chicken lady") made everything very simple.
After the class, I potted some cactus into a pot I brought with me and Anna helped me every step of the way. Besides selling all sorts of beautiful pots (especially Gainey), they also have a potting bar at the back which provides all the soil, gravel, etc, you need to pot the new plants you just bought. What an awesome idea! I love doing it there coz I don't have to clean up the mess. There is a nominal fee to do this at the potting bar but so worth it if you don't normally keep gardening supplies. -

I love supporting small businesses and often expect to pay a little bit extra at a small store. But when the products are really overpriced AND the customer service is bad? I've come here twice now, and the first time I came, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Sure, they completely ignored me, even though there was nobody else in the store. But everybody has their off days, right? And yelpers seem to love this place. But after coming a second time and still experiencing a chilly reception, I'm pretty much done. It's a gorgeous store, but if I wanted to feel insecure about myself, I'd just go to anywhere in Silverlake and hipster-watch for a while to remind myself of how uncool I am.

I love being potted. I just came here and these lovely ladies drilled a hole in my 60's vintage pot (I already killed a cactus from root rot) and they didn't even charge me.
Their garden is quite attractive with lots of cactus, succulents of every variety and the layout is pretty. They have made the most of a semi-small store, it still has an airy feel to it.
I did end up buying a bag of cactus soil and a cute succulent, let's see if I can keep this one alive. I have a black thumb!
Really nice merchandise not super cheap but not exhorbinate either.
Come here often and get potted, no they do not fix bongs. -

I had a present to exchange and I told the sales lady at the counter that I might not return it if I could not find anything better. My present was beautifully wrapped by my friend. I ended up buying the same item in a different color and I told the sales lady that I wanted to keep my original present as well.
When I first entered the store the sales lady was not very friendly and when I was looking for something to exchange or buy, she was not helpful.
When I went to the register to buy the second item which was a different color from the first one, she had removed all the beautiful ribbons that were on my original present. I asked her for the ribbons and she pulled them disdainfully out of the trash can. I was saddened to see them in the rubbish heap. I wish she would have asked me before she ripped off all the ribbons that were on my original present.
I did not feel welcome in the store and was expecting a different or more positive experience because my friend seemed to have really like Potted. This was not a positive first experience for me at this store. I always appreciate a store where I feel welcomed and feel relaxed enough to enjoy shopping at. -

If you're looking to decorate your garden or patio, this place is worth a visit. They sell pots as the store name suggests, but they also sell a wide variety of garden/patio decor that are unique and fun. It's a boutique gift store for the yard loving folks. Even if you don't buy anything, you will be inspired I'm sure.
I really enjoy their "cactus dioramas". It is a collection of small cactus arranged in fun planters. Think cactus bonsai. The planters can be oil cans, bird feeders, mini wheelbarrows, etc. You may be able to find a small vintage toy or a cool looking ornament cleverly hidden among the plants in the planter. Whoever makes these must be having a lot of fun. Every single one of them are original and one-of-a-kind. I'm not making sense, am I? Well, just go visit them and you'll find out.
Parking can be really difficult here. You either have to be lucky or patient. -

Maybe it's me but I just don't see the point in purchasing a clay pot for over a hundred dollars or paying over fifty for a few cacti placed in some rocks.
The space is laid out nicely but everything seems overpriced and while the selection is slightly varied it's not quite there yet - only pots, some expensive chairs and candles and some cacti. Oh wait, there are some fountains, but they aren't all that inexpensive either.
I think I would pay extra if they created the gift for me but as a store on its own I would have to say menh.Listed in: Le-whoo-whoo -zers

I had better have a backyard someday because there are way too many gorgeous pots calling my name at this store for me to not take advantage. Yes, it can be expensive, but this isn't your basics nursery where you can stock up on all the essentials to build your garden. The pots here are works of art and a special treat for your garden.
That said, there are good bargains to be found in the large pots, like the Vietnamese made one with a large diamond shaped pattern on the clay and covered in a gorgeous teal blue glaze. They are definitely more reasonably priced and still something special if you are trying to find something to make a focal point of your outdoor space.
Other than the pots, there are other great gifts if you are looking for a housewarming present or everyday present for someone who enjoys gardening-lovely cacti(perfect for those of us with black rather than green thumbs), statuettes, wind chimes, and a lot more. Swoon, I must start saving up for that house now. -

Very cute place to buy a gift. I especially love the vintage tins with the cacti.
The staff is very friendly. A woman with short red hair and funky glasses planted a cactus for me, decorated it with gravel and a funky old key.
Adorable. i would love to get one as a gift. -

Yes yes yes yes!
This place is a horticulturists wet dream. I'm just an average person, but I've seen some horticulturists go bonkers in this place.
Yes, everyone's right, this place is pricey, but go during a sale and it's very reasonable! I've bought numerous gifts here, a bamboo fountain (which they replaced when it went kerput) outdoor rugs, and numerous gorgeous pots and hanging votives that you can't get at Home Cheapo.
If only I could afford those gorgeous mod tiled tables. My wet dream! -

Everything yelpers have said already is true...I just thought I should give a shout out cause the ladies here are extraordinarily helpful and super sweet and funny! I keep finding reasons to stop by and grab a little pick me up project, like a pretty pot and an adorable succulent. Excellent place for gifts too.
Best of all, besides being a local business, you get what you pay for here. It may be a little pricey, but the items are unique and the women who work here will drop everything and help you out - they even pot the plant for you if you'd like!! What?!
nothin' but love. -

Unusual artsy items for your garden. Yes, you do pay a bit more, but the merchandise is far from your garden variety yard art..it's all unique.
Sales are good ..It's relaxing just to browse here, too. -

I'm not going to lie. I want almost everything in this place. But it's so overpriced that it's almost insulting. The chairs are like $700 and you have to buy the cushions separately. Crazy. My husband bought me a tiny 2 cacti garden for 'terrific lady day' and it was $90. I love it, but my gawd, too expensive. I appreciate the sentiment, but don't want him wasting his hard-earned money on insultingly overpriced plants no matter how terrific a lady I am. They should tone it down a bit.

Great stuff. These gals have great taste in garden decor. They also have these little pots with succulents that make a nice hostess gift if you're in a pinch.

This store is SO cool, with unique planters, pots, fountains, paving stones and outdoor furniture, too. Their selection of pots and planters is amazing for such a small space, and the owners Mary and Annette are both helpful and accommodating. They do custom fountains, and design most of the furniture they sell. I've outfitted my patio with their cool designs (some is retro, some Mexican-inspired). It's easy to get to, also -- just off the 5 in Atwater Village on Los Feliz Blvd. I just love this place -- great ideas for gifts here, too, in all price ranges!

i came here when i heard about their sale last weekend..
even with the sale, i couldn't afford to buy anything, but the buyer for this establishment has really great taste. the stock here was minimal but everything from the tiny cactus plants to the patio furniture and the book collections were really interesting and unique. i would love to come here and shop when i gain a few years and a few more paychecks. -

If Smith & Hawken were still in business, this is what it would be: interesting pots and containers; a nice selection of succulents; furniture and fountains for large and small spaces. They make specialty stepping stones and furniture using tile mosaics. This is a "go to" store for items that make your patio become your new "living room". They have fountain supplies, some tools, and decor that is useful and lovely. See Annette, she is great.

I love this place. Their hard goods are definitely outside of my price range, but I work for a non-profit, so, everything is out of my price range. Just looking around the nursery is inspiring. I couldn't resist buying several small plants. They were beautiful curiosity plants, and not anything you would find at any of the Big Box Stores. The staff is wonderfully charming and knowledgeable. As someone who has spent years working in plant nurseries (never this one), this is the sort of nursery you want to visit and support.
