I feel like I've been doling out a lot of 5 star reviews lately. That probably signifies something, but I'm already over it. Moving on.
I wasn't having the best day. It wasn't a horrible day, but it certainly wasn't a good day. I was hungry, I had just gotten off work, and I was exhausted
I was tired. I was so tired that I went home and promptly fell asleep. Anyone who has gone to sleep hungry knows that this means you wake up ready to eat your own hand.
Now it's getting late and my mood has depleted even further. I felt like one of those characters on The Sims [come on, who's played it?] when one of their bars go down into red and then they start yelling at you to let them go pee, or watch TV, or sleep, or whatever. Heh, and then that one time, just for poo and chortles, you don't let them do ANYTHING and let ALL their bars go down into red just to see what happens and they pee on the floor and then pass out from exhaustion.
...Not that I have ever done that. [And I think it would be a lot more appropriate if they imploded and you had to deal with the repercussions.] Playing God can be dangerous. End scene.
There I was, searching for a place to go get food that wouldn't make me feel like I had just ate a tub of grease, took a grease bath, and was left sitting in a pool of grease.
Appealing, I know. But this is, generally speaking, what your food choices boil down to when it starts getting late and you don't live in an actual city or a college town. My food choices at home were almost non-existent because I hadn't been grocery shopping in a while. Besides, I was waaay too groggy to even think about cooking anything and waaay too hungry to be patient enough to cook something myself.
Then I remembered that the Potbelly near here is open late-ish. I think that if you had been here you would have thought that I had just discovered an environmentally-safe fuel source. You would have actually seen the light bulb go on above my head. And then Wiley E. Coyote would have ordered a package from Acme and launched himself into a cliff.
I drive the short way to Fairfax Corner, where this Potbelly happens to be located, and go in. I only need to peruse the menu briefly before deciding that nothing had ever sounded more delicious in the world, in all its history, than a meatball sub. So I order and the guy behind the counter says, "Ohhh, I'm sorry. We just ran out of meatballs."
What? What?! Damn it!!!
"You can wait, but it'll be about ten minutes," he says cheerily.
"Oh, ok. That's fine."
"You want something to drink?"
"Yeah. I'll have an Oreo shake, please."
"Coming right up."
So I'm waiting in line as the people move through. I reach into my wallet to pull out my credit card and-
"Oh, no. That's on us. Thanks for waiting."
"What? Oh. Wow! Thanks!"
I sit and sip my Oreo shake as I wait for my sandwich to be done [it didn't even take ten minutes]. I get my sandwich, thank them profusely, and walk out into the night, sandwich and shake in hand.
It's amazing, what a small act of kindness can do to your mood. In the bigger picture, Potbelly isn't even all that expensive. I wasn't going to make a fuss about the fact that they were out of meatballs. It probably would have sunk my mood at bit more but I would have figured out something to order and eaten it and eventually things would have been fine.
All that aside, I have yet to receive poor service [or poor food] from Potbelly. This location or otherwise.
My sandwich that night, needless to say, tasted more delicious than any sandwich in the world. In all its history.

A decent place to go have lunch with reasonable choice for a vegetarian. They mostly have a decent veggie soup that I like. Prices tend to be on the slightly expensive side (relative to quiznos/subway) however the quality is much better.

With Potbelly's in the area, who would even think to go to Quiznos or Subway? The prices are cheap and the food is good. What more needs to be said?
The first time I went there I wondered to myself, "man the music is pretty loud and it sounds like I'm there." As I turned around from my spot in line, I looked up. "Whoa, what the...?" Yeah so there's an artist playing live on top of the booths on weekends sometimes.

I love the simplicity of Potbelly's. One low price, a bunch of sandwiches to choose from and efficient staff. Toasted sandwiches are the way to go and they do it well. I BEG anyone to tell me if there is a place in this world that has cookies as good as Potbelly's.

Potbelly Sandwich Works blows Quizno's out of the water. I'm not even sure what the difference is... I think it has something to do with the impossibly fresh, crispy bread. The Pineapple Coconut milkshake is also heavenly. Salads are not as impressive, and can in fact be downright bland.
Service is friendly, enthusiastic, and quick. It's a good place to come for a simple and tasty lunch. (Although they are open pretty late... until 10 on weekdays, I believe).
Wow! sandwiches for $3.99! yuuuum! I love that they toast the subs, they are good sizes and the hot peppers they put on are pickled with carrots, which are really good. They have a good variety of meats. Fun little place.

They serve hot toasty sandwiches. Nothing spectacular to write about. It's just a normal sandwich. Wish the sandwiches were little bit bigger. I get hungry after one hour.

Move over Quiznos. Potbelly's may not be as widespread, but it certainly is a whole lot tastier. They sport the same price for every sandwich they stock, and is a very clean and inviting place. This one in particular sits in the ever popular new Fairfax Corner, right next to the movie theater. What else is nice, is that they sometimes have a live artist situated above you singing live and playing an instrument, usually a guitar. The staff is friendly.
I think of how clean a restaurant is, by how clean the leave their public facilities, such as the tables, seating, and also the bathroom. This Potbellys has employees sign off on acceptability of the bathroom every hour, which when I last came at the end of the day, really shows.

I really enjoyed this place...
My pizza sandwich on wheat really hit the spot. I can't wait to try the other options. Their selection of yogurt smoothies looked especially tasty, the Vanilla Oreo is still calling my name. A very relaxed, cozy kind of atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

All the sandwiches (about 8-10 different kinds) are the same low price. There's something there for everyone- including kids and vegetarians. My favorite sandwiches are The Wreck and The Italian, but they have about 6-8 others, including PB&J. White or wheat rolls are available. The sandwiches aren't super huge, but are plenty to fill you up.
They also have a few salads, but I've never had them. Just judging by the quality of everything else I have had I'm pretty confident they're good.
They have good milkshakes and the cookies are yummy, but best of all... They make ice cream sandwiches as you order them by taking two of their yummy cookies and putting a big scoop of ice cream between them. So awesome!
They have both bottled drinks (including some less mainstream sodas) and Coca-Cola fountain drinks.
The line at lunch can get long but moves incredibly fast. Casual atmosphere, but clean and well maintained. If you come at lunch there may just be a musician playing up on the loft.
