Review from Gina B.
I go to Potawatomi to play Bingo, that's about it. I know, sounds lame but I really enjoy it and haven't been there for about 6 years until Friday. Alot has changed over the years and it is all for the better. I don't gamble so I can not compare to Vegas or other casinos but I think it's very nice inside. Lots to see and watch. Great food and many choices. The Bingo area is pretty cool too. They have individual tables you can sit at if you are so lucky to get there early and get one. They have booths, like at a restaurant, but those are on the smoking side. In case you were not aware, they have a smoking and non smoking area for Bingo too. Floor staff is attentive and polite and overall the place is really clean.
If you like Bingo, this is the place you wanna try. You have the option of paper and / or a computer to play on. Games are pretty self explanatory for the most part, some are more advanced. You can easily drop a bunch of cash in one afternoon playing but it's fun so I guess if that is the most gambling I do, I'm ok with it. -

This review is for the Potawatomi Fire Pit Side Bar -- I saw a band there & it was super fun -- which was a good surprise, because I thought the place would be terrible.
Intimate venue for music, convenient bar access & free parking.
I'm pretty sure the bartender was nice, and I like a bar that will fill my water numerous times at the end of the night instead of being indignant that there isn't another drink order.
I'd go again if there was live music. -

If you like the constant breathing of cigarette smoke, this is the place for you. I have been to casinos that allow smoking, but this place takes first place. But besides that it is not a bad casino. I have done well here over the years. Parking spots are very accessible, casino is huge and can be a little hard to navigate. Casino employees do not seem to be too friendly and are more interested to talking to coworkers or hitting on female customers.

I really don't like gambling here, but its hard to say that it is a bad place. The "new" additions are great, and the place feels more like a real casino year-over-year. The restaurants available are good at any price point. I have never really won all that much money, but its fun to try. Its definitely better than all the other Indian casinos I have ever been too. No, I don't like the indoor smoking, but it is also something expected from a casino. I will be back for food, people watching, and maybe to lose $20 or so.

**This review is for hosting events in the grand hall only.**
After finding out that our first choice was going to be too small for our wedding reception venue, it was back to the drawing board for my fiance and me. The good thing was that even though we lived in Maryland and were planning our wedding all the way in Wisconsin, we had eight months to get everything together before the big day.
I wasn't too keen on the idea of hosting our reception at a Bingo and Casino, but when I spoke to my parents about it, both of them had been there for different soirees over the years - usually Christmas parties for work. They assured me my fiance and I should check it out when we were in Milwaukee in August of 2010.
We did and we were amazed! The room was gorgeous and huge and completely separate from the gambling side of things. The events coordinator, "K," told us that our very specific menu wouldn't be a problem, that we could bring in Ethiopian food from a restaurant in town if we ordered the majority of the food through the on-site caterer, and that all of our guests would get $10 tokens if they wanted to go downstairs after the reception was done. It was perfect! We were sold.
The one and only thing that killed the deal was "K" in the end. The contract was drawn up incorrectly four different times (she kept sending me the same one each time instead of revising it) and, when I called to ask her a question or two, she never returned my calls. That was in August. By late September, we decided to have our wedding reception elsewhere, despite the fact that we loved both the banquet facility and the downtown location which was close to our ceremony site. It was sad, but necessary.
In DECEMBER (four months after we last spoke and three months before the actual wedding day), I got the following email from "K":
"Hi El,
I hope all is well! We were auditing our files and realized we never received the signed contract back regarding your wedding in March.
We still have the date held and the menus quoted, but didn't have the final paperwork. Are you still planning on having your wedding with us?
With the wedding being a couple months away, I want to make sure that we have all of the details, and you have all of the information you need.
Looking forward to hearing from you!"
Really? I was looking forward to hearing from YOU months ago.
My response:
"'K',
I was left completely unsatisfied and disheartened with you and your
responses to my inquiries after I expressed to you that we did indeed
want the reception at your venue. Your lack of attention to detail
with the paperwork (which I had to send back to you four times), in
conjunction with un-returned voicemails for you and/or delayed responses from you, showed me that we could not count on you. Planning a wedding while out of state is a big job, but one that can go smoothly if all are in communication. You were not... And the fact that you are just now contacting me is further proof that we made a great decision in choosing to hold our 500+ wedding elsewhere. Quite unfortunate for your venue, since we really did like the space.
Sincerely,
El"

I love my casinos, have been to Vegas and AC. I might actually have a problem...
Anyway, it's the only casino in the Milwaukee area, the next closest being Ho-Chuck two and a half hours away; I prefer this one.
-HUGE place, just look at it as you drive up and/or walk to the door.
-The signs inside directing to the restaurants and such could be better but most casinos suck at this, so it's to be expected.
-The 360 bar in the middle is chic and a good meeting place.
-Drink specials every month that are advertised very well.
-The table minimums can be lower in my opinion but there's no arguing that. On weekends, do not expect $5. It. will. not. happen.
-Parking is in a garage, which is fairly easy to figure out.
-Normal casino patrons, from sketchy to fancy. (If you've never been to a casino before, this is the norm so don't get freaked out.)
** UPDATE-12/4/11:
Now employed here (I said I might have a problem, remember?), let me clarify one thing, add two heads-up, and give a link to the casino's layout:
-Bar 360 is on the Dreamcatcher side of the casino, the other side being the Four Seasons with the Fire Pit, which isn't central in this area like Bar 360 is but it will still make a good meeting place.
1. The "old side" is the Four Seasons, the "new side" is the Dreamcatcher.
2. The escalators and (south) entrance from the parking structure act as a divider between the two sides. Coming off the escalator, keep walking straight to get to the grand lobby. The map below shows it best.

Its nice when you walk into a casino with 10 bucks, spin a few times, bet on black/even, and walk out 2 minutes later with 80.

What can you say this is an Indian Casino in a metro area, I love it. Since they are a sovereign nation, Wisconsin's smoking ban doesn't apply. If you don't smoke relax, the ceilings are fairly high and their seems to be good venting.
I've been to Vegas, riverboats and other Indian casinos and Potawatomi has to be the nicest places outside of Vegas. This place is fairly large with two main areas on the first level. Both large rooms have tables and slots, but the only difference is they have different themes.
I prefer the wooded area, I'm a sap for presentation, if you didn't know you were in an Indian casino, you might think you were in Vegas. The other main room that a bar/lounge in the middle. The room overall has a more traditional casino theme.
I've personally never had very good luck their but people I was with did. The selection of machines if you're a slot player is really good, They have a nice selection of machines from 2-25 and a good amount of $ machines. There are many banks of different progressive machines with small ($100)- large (100,000+). There's not a huge amount of video poker machines, but there's enough to keep things interesting.
One cool thing that they've added since my last visit was a digital roulette game. It still uses a regular wheel, put you're able to place your own bets on a touch screen. I think there was 8 or 10 seats around the wheel. The nice part about it is that you only have to bet $2 a hand.
As far as table games, it seemed like there were plenty. I was there on a Sunday afternoon and they seemed busy but their were still empty tables. It seemed to get a little more crowded after the Brewers game was over. The casino is in the vicinity of Miller Park, but it's not really within walking distance. -

I can smoke in the casino? Thank you.
What I don't like about this place? They must have spend $50,000,000 to keep Kenosha from opening an Indian Casino at the old Dairyland Greyhound Park.
What I like about this place? The poker room, though it has stupid rules that no other poker rooms have in the world, but they have a monopoly on poker in the area. Good spread of games, often some better limit games (30-60) and always at least one or more 3-5 no limit games.
I like the video poker in the old casino, they took all the good machines out of the new casino. I don't like the number of machines that have non-working buttons that never seem to get fixed.
The food is overall fine here. The steak house is pretty good for Milwaukee and the Asian restaurant is pretty consistently good. -

Bingo, Bingo, Bingo!
It was one of the nicest casinos that I've visited. Well-lit, nice staff, plenty of games, and their bingo hall is pretty sweet. Especially since they offered a non-smoking side.
It was fun. We were able to get away with 5 hours of entertainment for $20. And while we didn't walk away billionaires, the electronic bingo cards were pretty cool (if you find a properly working one, that is).
Good times were had, and if I'm ever in the city again, I'm sure this casino will consume a few more of my dollars. -

It is an ok casino - nothing out of the ordinary. (I am use of going to Foxwood and Mohegan sun) Potawatomi you will find slots - tables descent amount of choices - it is ok
Advantages
Choices to everyone - Slots -
Table - blackjack - poker - roulette - crab etc.
Different prices for minimum bet which is good
parking available free
disadvantage:
small compared to the big casino (if you are used to)
not a lot of choices for dining (just 1 restaurant) and 1 bar
i do not like cards to be shuffle automatically on tables - i like them to be shuffled by dealers - in this casino it is shuffled automatically by machine
Summary:
it is an ok casino but nothing out of the ordinary - the usual medium casino - it is good to go and have fun for 1 day but nothing exceptional -

My sis dropped a 20-spot in the 25-cent-slot-machine and walked away with over $800... 5-stars in my opinion.
They have the Dyson airblade hand-dryer in the woman's restrooms (not sure about the men's). Now, if they could figure out how to Dyson airblade out the smoke from all the indoor smoking then we'd REALLY be in business; until then... 4-stars. -

Though I'd been inside a few casinos (waiting in the hallway with a parent while Grandma threw down a few dollars on slots), I've never actually been as an adult. A friend and I had some time to kill before meeting people for mini bowling at Koz's, so we decided to pop in to Potawatomi.
We both set low limits for ourselves ($15 & $20) and managed to spend about an hour and a half wandering the slots. Much of our time was spent trying to find specific machines (Wizard of Oz, Airplane), as it is laid out like most casinos - to be confusing and disorienting and trick you into staying longer and dropping more cash.
Despite both coming out on the losing end, it was fairly entertaining. Potawatomi offers all the free soda you can drink, which makes the sting of losing a bit more bearable. My chief complaint lies with the fact that you can smoke inside - something I didn't expect to have to deal with since Wisconsin is smoke free. -

We weren't here for too long. Just a fun place to go out to after dinner, we didn't play tables, just slots.
First off, the decorations are super cool! I love the "wood" effect in the big room, and how it feels kind of like a giant lodge on the inside. Beer was expensive, but you don't really want to get wasted at the casino anyways.
I hit it big on the slots (well, $40, that's big to me!), and so we decided to quit while we were ahead. LOLz. I'd love to come back here and play in their poker room. -

I am not a gambling person, so I have never really had a desire to go down to Potawatomi and give them my money.
I recently went because friend's band was playing in the Side Bar.
Parking was easy and Free!! Once inside I couldn't find a sign to tell me where the Side Bar was, so we wandered around a bit, until I finally went over to the Security table to ask. The bar itself was pretty small, but entertainment was Free! The music was so loud that it was completely impossible to have a conversation with any of my friends. Honestly, it was amost impossible to even talk to order a drink. Which were on the pricey side.
Also, I have never been a fan of cigarette smoke, but I always just dealt with it in the bars. Since the smoking ban I have gotten spoiled being able to go out and enjoy a night withough sucking down lung fulls of smoke. Potawatomi does not have to abide by the smoking ban, so the Side Bar is extremely smoky!
Not my kind of place, so I won't be going back unless I am supporting my friends band. -

I am not a gambler.I am not a smoker. Going to a casino is pretty much a Hell like experience for me.Gambling holds no fascination for me. I deposit my very hard earned money into those machines and I never see it again. Certainly not the fun and excitement I see others having.
But...the PEOPLE WATCHING....ah..this brings the experience to a whole new level! You see nurses, fresh from the hospital ,still in their scrubs, parked at machines and gambling away their paychecks. You see retired folks, playing the 2 cent slots, making that Social Security check go a long way. You see those down on their luck looking to make a dollar out of 59 cents. You see thugs sitting next to well dressed upper crust types.elbow to elbow, playing Blackjack.
Oh...do NOT take any pictures. It makes the Security Guards get all twitchy-like.Who knew??
Go for the people watching, shove a few bucks in a slot ,wish them a joyous journey,as you will never meet again.
One odd observation...they had "Family Restrooms".....huh?? -

When I'm not daydreaming about rubbin' one out to Rounders or Maverick, this place quenches my gambling monkey's addiction. $5 craps tables are few and far between in the Midwest, but this place definantly rocks it throughout the week.
The fireside lounge has a solid menu and if you chat up the bartenders, that seven & seven can be made into something which borders on coma inducing. Nice.
Overall, decent place to throw some money around and kill time while in MLWK. -

Yes, growing up in LA I visited Las Vegas a lot... so obviously I'm not going to compare this casino with any other in LV. However, I have been to enough Indian Casinos to be able to rate Rotawatomi a average 3 stars. The place had all the ingredients to make it great, but I'd say that it loses some luster on 1) location in city (not so safe industrial area), 2) Smokey interior, and 3) ghetto're clientele. I'd go back

I am surprised that the reviews here seem neutral to negative, as this Casino is by far my favorite casino I have been to so far!
First of all this Casino has MUCH more variety than I have ever seen, including real craps, real roulette (albeit American 00 wheels but still good if you know how to win xD) casino war, mini-baccarat, all open 24 hours a day. I live in Minnesota where NONE of the games I just listed are available in ANY Minnesota Casino.
Second of all, higher betting limits. When I play at smaller Casinos in Minnesota, most table games have a max bet of $300-$500, which makes it really tough if you want to bet big to expand your winnings, or attempt to come back from a loss. My trip to this Casino was the first time I ever bet with Purple ($500) chips, which was a lot of fun. I was pleased to see the mini-bac game have a $5000 max bet. This is big enough where I never have to worry about maxing out my bets and having to get other players to bet for me. This allows for much more flexibility in my playing style, allowing me to win more. too bad this Casino is over 6 hours away lol.
Overall, a very nice Casino for the serious gambler who likes a variety of games with lots of options. I was there around 3am so I didn't get to try the bar or any of the restaurants, so I can not comment on these. At least there is alcohol in the Casino which is a plus,as I have been to many dry casinos.
You certainly won't many other casinos like this in the Midwest. I'd be here all the time if it were closer.
Regarding smokiness, I am a smoker who has always loved the smell of cigarette smoke. For me the smells makes the experience all that much more enjoyable, but I do agree that it is more smoky than average, so some people might find this unpleasant. -

GRANNY'S LAST HURRAH
The people watching here is fantastic. Grannies on scooters with oxygen tanks out for their last hurrah, more jean shorts than I've seen since the late 80's, and countless people apparently trying the Super Size Me diet.
That said I actually had a pretty good time there. The quasi-futuristic front entrance is quite breath-taking, the renovations make the place almost....almost look like Vegas, there are sluts...er slots as far as the eye can see, and most importantly for me the poker room has a lot of action.
I don't know that I'd make a trip to the good land just to go here, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're in town with a few hours to kill.Listed in: Wisconsin Road Trip!

Like Richard S pointed out, this is not the Bellagio. If you want a fancy pants casino then go to Vegas. Note that you're in Wisconsin, where the beer, cheese, smoked sausages, and cigarettes hold more clout than things like arteries and blood pressure.
Valet was $2 plus tip, coat check was free (don't forget to tip!), I bought a hurricane for $5, and I lost $20 to penny slots but who cares? I had fun. -

I don't know what other people are really complaining about. It's a Native American casino; there is kind of a standard that is to be expected when going to one. Furthermore - it's a casino. You have to assume that you're going to lose money the second the idea "let's go to a casino" pops into your head.
Potawatomi is schilled and plugged like crazy at Miller Park during the Brewers games, that I couldn't not make a trip before I left. My personal experience was awesome - I went there for about 30 minutes, doubled my money, used their bathroom, had a few complimentary drinks, and then was back on the road back to Chicago before I could be compelled to give the house back its money and then some. As far as I'm concerned, I had the best experience in the history of this casino. -
Review from Ericka A.
I'm not very big on gambling, so casinos aren't really my thing. Every once in a very rare while I might want to try the coin machines; that's usually about it.
It's not so bad in Minnesota or Illinois, where smoking is banned. Here you have to deal with a bit of smoke. Some areas are worse than others, but overall they keep it pretty clean and offer non-smoking areas. Most of the rooms smell like air freshener.
We came here to eat at the buffet and to play Bingo. During the week they offer Matinee Bingo from 1pm to about 4pm. You get into the game for $5, which gives you (I think it was) 20 games of Bingo. You can choose to go the fancy route and buy into special games for $1-2 each, or get the bonus package of Bingo for $11.
Prizes were mostly $50-500. It depends on how many people call Bingo at the same time and which game you are playing. Each round comes with 6 Bingo cards and daubers are $1.50. We didn't win anything, but for three hours we were entertained for $5 and drank at least $10 worth of pop and coffee. I'd call that more than A-OK. -

It's a casino. It's not the best one I've ever been to. It's not the worst one I've ever been to. It's full of shiny objects, smoke, and people hoping to fulfill their dreams of becoming millionaires.
They provide shuttle service from the downtown hotels and for that I'm giving them an extra star. Although the shuttle was not running on schedule (at all) on our way there, the driver was more than willing to take us back to our hotel early on the way home. And whether you've won big (or lost it all), who wants to sit around longer at a casino than necessary when you're done for the night? -

We first went to this casino on our honeymoon back in 2006. My wife and I never had played poker in a casino before and played in their poker room there with a lot of nice people. I actually won some $$$.
They have low limit table games which I like because I'm not a high roller when it comes to craps or Blackjack or three card poker.
If you want to get in the poker room -- good luck on Friday or Saturday. I went up there on a Friday afternoon around 5pm, called in to reserve my spot and still waited like an hour to get a seat. Calling in is the best thing to do for the poker room and there's always fun people to play with.
They have a bingo hall too and a lot of slots and table games. The buffet was good every time we've had it, a decent size selection for the price.
I haven't been there since they remodeled, I heard it's really nice though. It was nice before, beats the ghetto casino in Elgin or the Horseshoe in East Chicago.
It is a little smoky here though, so beware before you go. -
Review from Jake N.
Since this is a privately owned casino, the payouts are not so good. There is no requirement to post payout percentages like in corporate owned casinos.
That being said, I've never had any luck on the slots here. They're tight. The blackjack tables are ok, provided you can afford to play on the 25 dollar minimum table. Otherwise the people playing the 5 dollar tables tend to do stupid things like stand on 13's when the dealer is showing a 10 or split 10's. ::Shiver:: It really is atrocious sometimes.
Oh and to those that were complaining about the smokiness...Wisconsin passed a smoking ban that goes into effect in July of 2010. Sorry to tell you, it doesn't effect the casino as they're a sovereign nation that's exempt from the state ban. My guess is we'll see additional restaurants and clubs specifically put in for the now displaced smokers. -

This is one of the nicer casinos in the midwest believe it or not. I was a first time player here this past weekend and just for signing up and getting 25 points (which cost me $20) they gave me $35 to play on the house. All the staff here were very very nice and helpful! Oh and I ended up getting my $20 back with the $35 in free slot play. So it was well worth it. One big plus here is they do have a lot of $5 tables which makes if very affordable to play some three card, roulette or craps! Another big plus is the buffet. They had a really good selection for a really good price. I did not get a chance to check out the bingo hall... maybe on my next trip up there!!!
Only bad thing is that people can smoke in here and it does get a little bad. -

An average casino. Plenty of parking, relatively close to downtown Milwaukee and the Brewers, and a newer building.
Blackjack, bingo, slot machines--they even have a poker room. There is also a room for performances, as well as areas designated for native american artifacts.
Unfortunately, on past visits, this place has been very smoky. -

First off: Anyone who writes a negative review for a casino because their slot machines aren't "loose" is not worth listening to. Slot machines are the highest edge for the casino, thus why when you come to the Potawatomi you will see it full of slots. My review has nothing to do with perceived payout or anything of that nature. Those reviews are all just pure crapola.
I have been coming here for almost a year now and really like the casino. It is big and spread out compared to other "Indian" casino's I've been to. There are 4 different dining options, I prefer the "Fire Pit" Sports Bar located in the Northeast corner of the building. The bartending staff at the Fire Pit is exceptional! I always have a good time grabbing something to eat there and love watching sports on 8 flat screens across the bar and then the "wall of TV's" that they have where there's an additional 20 plus TV's. Overall it is a great place to eat, as the food is pretty good.
The table minimums are usually $5 during the week, and you'll be able to find table min's at $10 throughout the weekend (with a few $5 tables mixed in occasionally). I play blackjack and there are probably about 30 tables dedicated to blackjack tables, which is nice as it accommodates even when it gets crowded after Brewers games. Important to note that Blackjack pays out your standard 3:2 here and the Dealer hits on Soft 17. The bigger room runs 8 deck Shoes and the smaller room (nearest the parking garage) has 6 deck Shoes.
Pro's:
Good food
Good staff
Big and Spacious with lots of gaming options
Right off 94/41 for us coming up from IL.
Con's:
Smoke (there are some non-smoking tables though)
Drive from the IL border
If you want a pretty good atmosphere to gamble in this is for you. Sure there are weird and goofy people there, after all this is a CASINO, but overall I've had only good experiences here. I would definitely give this place a try if youre looking to go to a casino. -

Typical casino - too smokey but plenty of machines to entertain. The staff was friendly and you can't beat the $2 (with a membership card) valet parking.
They seem to have several bars and restaurants and entertainment which we didn't visit. That is a nice touch in a casino.

The upstairs food court is poor quality.
The Chinese Restaurant uses Cotton Seed Oil, made me sick.
They do make an excellent Green Tea Bubble Tea
The buffet is average, lots of variety of zap and ding ( already prepared convenience food, a microwave buffet)
Go to the fire Pit restaurant and have a prime beef sandwich.
Free Soda and Coffee no need to buy
Be careful on the games they will rob you or dump an whole bunch of winnings at once, it is feast or famine there.

Milwaukee, WI
Even though I am not a regular here... it is nice to have a casino in town. If you really think about it, it is the place to be in Milwaukee... people of all backgrounds come here for entertainment (and/or to lose their hard earned money). I don't seem to have very good luck here. Maybe I don't play enough to win big... but I don't like smoking atmosphere here. I can't last over an hour because of the smoke... makes me ill.
