i used to really enjoy this place when i worked (literally) 10 feet away at a retail store. when it first opened, the owners were really accommodating and would try extra hard to make sure everything was satisfactory. once, the order was taking longer than usual (in the time span of my 10 minute break), so one of the employees hand-delivered my 3 hashbrowns to my place of employment :) i thought that was hella nice of them.

many people complain about the slow service. but what can you expect from a mall joint? just order and go.

    what i order:

+ mega fries with CHILI BBQ. i could settle with the regular BBQ if they're out, but i would much much rather go with the chili. ASK FOR EXTRA on top!

+ hash browns with CHILI BBQ. these take the longest to make, because they break so easily in the transferring process (from fryer to paper) but larlarlar so yummy

+ chili cheese fries. chili + fresh grated cheddar/swiss mix, sour cream, jalapenos. it's really a heart attack in a plate, but honey badger don't give a puck!

i've never tried their chicken meals. apparently it's kosher chicken? but in a town like arcadia, i don't think people are willing to pay the extra buck or two for kosher.

i don't find sweet potato fries WITH seasoning to be too appetizing either. but it all depends on personal taste. my coworker LOVED it.

special shout out to one of the two owners! i miss seeing you guys around!

I FREAKIN LOVE THIS!!!!! Since i work at the mall, this is great for a small break food/snack. I ALWAYS get the mega (medium sized) bbq chili tator tots or the bbq chili regular french fries!!!! YUM YUM YUM!!!!!

For a medium sized, it's about $3.86 for the tator tots. French fries are a few cents more.

Staff was very nice and friendly.  This one girl was very helpful.  Don't think about trying to call them.  Even though there is a phone number to call, it will not go to stand in the mall.  It is by Nordstrom, Gap, and Janie and Jack, not by the regular food court.

I think I had high expectations.  It wasn't as good as I thought.  It wasn't bad either.

If you get giga, you can have any two flavors in the same bucket.  BBQ and sour cream and onion are better than chedder (it's just chedder cheese powder sprinkled on top).  Tater tots were ok, but nothing special.  The same goes for the curly fries.

I still prefer Mcdonald's and In N Out fries!

Service was good but I didn't really enjoy these flavored potatoes, despite the customizability of them (you can choose between different shapes of potatoes, like curly, normal, criss-cut, tater tots; as well as flavor, like BBQ power, Cheddar, Sour Cream and Onion, etc).

I had the curly fries with Sourcream and Onion powder on them. The potatoes didn't taste terribly fresh. I felt bad about eating them because not only were they mediocre in taste, but they were really bad for me healthwise and not cheap nor filling :/

I'm not big on it, though my bf is. We got regular fries with sour cream powder. I thought the fries were too skinny/crunchy with a frozen, powdery potato flavor (almost like fake mashed potato flavor) and the sour cream was too sweet (most likely msg). Maybe I'd like the chili bbq/bbq more...I was expecting something more savory.

Potato Corner is a Philippines based franchise starting around 1992 and have subsequently ground to a large McDonald like entity there and have recently spread across the Pacific Ocean over to the United States. I remember when this food stand first open at the Arcadia Mall year or two ago and I instantly fell in love. (I got the love handles to prove it!)

Food Quality: Fries come in three sizes here Jumbo (Small), Mega (Medium), and Giga (Large). Essentially its just normal french fries, curly fries, jojo chips, or tator tots with various seasonings. I tried most of them and all of them are actually quite good. - A

Atmosphere: Its a food stand at the mall. - C

Service: Quick every time I've tried it but it could have difficulties with the line as many other reviewers have mentioned. - B

Price: Under $10, its what you'd expect to pay for seasoned fries at a mall.

Overall: I overall love the fries. Just can't get enough of it. If you love fries and don't mind the love handles that come with its continued love. I'd say just go for it. - B+

    Surprisingly good.
I was drawn here because of all the good yelp ratings.

Even though the fries were frozen, they were tasty and well seasoned.
Definitely get the medium size to get some value in.
Service was friendly, but it did take some time for them to make the batch.

How can you NOT like fried potatoes??

The staff are fast, the potatoes are crispy but not burnt, and it's not very greasy at all.  Almost seems like the potatoes are baked.

I love how there are so many flavors and varieties of fries.  It's a great place for a snack. The chili cheese fries are alright, but I would say get the other fries instead (BBQ, sour cream and onion, etc.) with dry flavoring.  Those fries are very tasty snacks.

It's a bit pricey for the snacks, but every once in a while, it's a great place to go.

As a yelper, I've been told by friends that I'm usually too generous with my stars, but NO MORE. After my experience at Potato Corner, I'm going to break my "lower than 3 stars" dry spell and say that this 1 star was justly deserved.

First off, after a 3 hour shopping trip I decided to stop by this little mall stand after finding the delectable waft of fried potatoes absolutely tantalizing. Now, if I could go back in time I would cause it was an absolute waste of 20 minutes for a small portion of mediocre fries drenched in sour cream/onion powder. Now, when I first got in line I was already slightly annoyed at the fact that I didn't even really know where to stand! There were just a clump of people gathered around the front of the cashier area. Because people were standing so haphazardly, I had a difficult time discerning exactly where the line was. Next time, perhaps one of the workers could look up and see the confusion and perhaps usher the people waiting for their fries to one side of the stand so as to avoid confusion.

With that being said, when it was my turn to pay, I asked for two samples: one BBQ and one sour cream and onion. The girl who was taking my order was quick to get the order and upon trying both samples, I ultimately decided to get the sour cream and onion. Now, as I looked at the menu board, I saw the price for the small fries was $2.99 so I reached into my wallet to grab my dollar bills and change. So imagine my surprise when the girl tells me my order of fries will cost $3.99. Uhm...excuse me? What?!

I looked at the menu once more and saw that it said $2.99 and then I looked back at the cashier once more. I looked at her and said, "But isn't it $2.99?" She stares back at me with a blank expression and says, "Yeah and it'll be $3.99." Now I'm no mathematician and math certainly was not my major in college but I KNOW the fries would not come with such an exorbitant tax. So as I'm trying to figure out if the menu was updated or not, the girl turns to me once more and goes, "My bad, it's $3.26."

There was no apology, nothing, nada. I gave her the money and a receipt was handed to me in return.

So that was pretty much strike 1, now strike 2 came when I was waiting for my fries. I was waiting for my fries in a group of about 10-15 people. Now, not ONCE did a worker say "I'm sorry for the wait but your fries will be out soon," or something to that degree. People were left standing and waiting as if that was the norm. Sorry, but in my book that just screams of bad customer service.

Strike 3 came with the fact that despite my rather SIMPLE order and the fact that I'd only tried a sample of the BBQ and sour cream and onion fries, my order was still wrong. The guy who filled my order gave me CHEDDAR fries. Now, somebody PLEASE explain to me the logic of that?! When I expressed my wishes to get what I paid for, the guy looked extremely disgruntled as if he were truly going out of his way to do SUCH a laborious favor for me. Again, no apology on behalf of the staff was granted.

Bottom line, if you are a patron who enjoys frequenting restaurants and the like with bad customer service and mediocre food, then Potato Corner is for you! But if you are turned off by all of my aforementioned strike-outs, then AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

BTW, someone previously reviewed this place with a low yelp rating by saying this should be renamed the "Social Corner." I could not agree more. The workers here should spend more time focusing on good customer service and less on themselves.

Potatoes are one of my favorite foods ever... Just so versatile and yummy! And of course I love them fried.  I don't usually review mall snack places, but I tried Potato Corner for the first time yesterday and the fries were delish! The wait was not bad at all, even though the whole mall was in a holiday frenzy. Ordered cheddar tater tots but was given fries instead... No problem though, just wanted to try anything since it was my first time. A very yummy snack! The concept is quite innovative... It may seem very simple and obvious (fried potato tossed around in flavored powder), but I haven't encountered anything like this out there yet, so Potato Corner may be on to something. I only wish that there were more tables/seating available near the booth. I will be back, though probably not too often... Not the healthiest option! ;)

Fries are made fresh so they are nice and crispy and not dripping with oil. We got the jiga size so we got sour cream & onion and the chili BBQ. The sour cream is more subtle and delicate. The chili BBQ is bold and a bit overpowering. There is a lot (maybe too much) of seasoning. We were really thirsty after eating these so it likely they use MSG.

So, they no longer do the card thing... o well that wouldn't stop us from coming here...

They were pretty packed yesterday... people were waiting in line to order and lots of people waiting for their order... no surprise there. If a place is popular... you expect the wait, that's just a fact!

Service: The usual = fast n friendly! There's 2 people taking the orders so the line moves fast and 2 people serving. They have a system... first order comes up first BUT if they call your name n you're not answering, they'll call the next one... so you have to pay attention and not wonder off.

Ordered our usual... giga... half cheese & half bbq... kiddos devoured it crazy fast!

Pointers: It taste really good fresh! Tried to bring some home a couple of times for the kiddos but when we got home, it wasn't hot anymore and got soggy. Tried to heat it up in the oven but it doesn't taste good at all.

I love their chili bbq fries, ordered the giga size everytime I go to Arcadia mall...

Their fries are quite expensive compare to the amount they give you, but since I like their taste so much, I don't mind a bit. On the other hand, I can definitely understand why some others would consider the portion a ripoff...

This review is for the fiance, who is a HUGE potato freak. I thought these were good, nothing I'd dream about, but he just won't shut up about Potato Corner and how much he wishes they had one up in the Bay Area.

Anyway, this place has a great concept: choose a type of fry, flavoring, and voila! It is fried fresh to fulfill your potato craving. After trying all the flavors, we decided on the chili BBQ. Again, nothing special to me, but the fiance LOVED it. Take advantage of the samples!

Potato Corner is starting to pop up everywhere and that makes me HAPPY! I love fries, you have no idea...lol, and this place lets you pick and choose the cut of potato you like and the seasonings... Eat fries to your heart's desire! Might I add, their chili cheese fries is scrumptious as well! There's no beans in their chili fyi lol, I don't like beans. :) I wish they were a little faster with making the fries, oh well, it's worth the wait!

To be honest, this place is not that worth it since they just fry frozen fries and put a bunch of powder to season it. My motto is if it's something I can make myself, I don't actively go out for it, so I'd say just try it once or twice.. because anything salty and fried can't be good for you..

But the service and the fries were good. The people working here are all really nice and friendly, and occasionally offer samples to passersby. It's sometimes kinda confusing who works there; there were a few times where I saw someone walk from outside into the booth and start taking orders.

The fries come to you hot and full of flavor. The sour cream and onion flavor is my favorite. You can also mix and match the different flavored fries! Augh.. It's so tempting to come back over and over again...

I want to the mall w.my sister and my niece and they took me here because my niece wanted some fries. The place is small but they make fresh batch of fries when you order. The taste was sweet for me because they order the bbq fries and it taste good but you can tell they put MSG in their fries. Anyway i don't mind it myself but people who hate MSG then they should stay away.

Personally, I don't find anything wrong with mixing salt and sweet in the same item of food. I don't find it weird either when it's on a french fry.
I highly recommend getting the BBQ fries since it is quite addicting. Quite difficult to stop munching on these things.

My only vice against this place is the amount of sugar substitute/MSG they place into their spices since I have tendencies to have a stiffer neck and drowsiness after ingesting any of those ingredients. I understand that BBQ does have MSG, but it is what makes it so addicting. Also, the price for fries is quite high for something I kind of like. I still am a fan of McDonald's french fries and Potato Corner's fries remind me of Boiling Crab's cajun fries without the cajun flavoring.

Again, it's worth a try and if it's convenient, get some. However, not worth to go out of my way to get any. If you're hankering for new flavors on your palate, you can request a sample and they will be more than glad to help you out with that. Service is unquestionably courteous and helpful.

    Overall, worth a try.

I heard from a friend that a potato corner opened up in the santa anita mall. I had absolutely no idea how far that was from me but that wasn't going to stop me! The very next day I convinced my boyfriend to go on a mini "mission" with me :)

I lived in the Philippines for a couple years and Potato Corner is a staple in most malls and shopping centers throughout the country. It's really simple.. they have bomb ass flavored fries! You could choose from cheese, sour cream and onion, or BBQ flavored fries or potato chips. I could care less for the potato chips, you can find them anywhere. But the BBQ flavored fries are my absolute favorite and probably the closest thing I'll ever have to BBQ flavored popcorn (another fave from the Philippines).

After a couple shopping "distractions", we finally found the Potato Corner on the second floor. The line was long and the fries took forever and a day but as soon as I took my first bite all that frustration went away. The fries could have been crispier but it was still the same great taste I remembered from years back.

Other reviewers mentioned how overpriced their fries were but to people like me, this is feeling (more like eating) a little piece of "home" and well worth the $5 something for a bucket of good old flavored fries :)

So it was my first time here and man I have got to say, this place is awesome. After a long day of shopping with my girl we decided to get something to eat. Didn't feel like eating pretzels or pizzas or any of the food court stuff, just wanted a snack. We saw this place stopped and ordered a small order of BBQ loopy fries, man did we regret ordering the small size. The fries were probably the best tasting fries I've ever tasted around this area and after finishing a small order we went back and ordered a giga order to go. Recommend everyone stop by and try this place if you in the area, it may take a while to get your order due to the large amount of customers that stop by but it's definitely worth the wait.

Maybe i went on a off hour so my order took less than 3 minutes, considering the time to cook the fries were 3 minutes. ( i saw the timer)
The workers were very friendly despite having little kids around gobbling up the samples and people asking for more seasoning powder and people in line to order, etc.

Tried their sample of bbq which tasted like a Lays bbq with more sugar. I asked if there was something less sweet and a bit spicy? so he suggested chili bbq so ok! i ordered the smallest size in "loopy fries" aka curly fries in jumbo for $3.29? We also ordered their other popular flavor, sour cream and onion in the regular fries.

Btw, if you think jumbo is small, they are actually pretty generous with the serving size. So don't be so greeedy! lol

The reason why i give 3 stars is the flavors are not bold nor do they shine. They are mediocre. The worst part is, the seasoning powders are all SWEET! What is up with asians making savory foods sweet!? Asian bakeries sprinkle sugar on top of garlic bread. same concept. these fries were on the sweet side more than savory.
I wish they had cajun fries or garlic fries... o well...

I will come back here if im specifically craving french fries or potato Chips but that won't be really happening at potato corner... and i LOVE fries and chips... I really wish i liked this place as  this location is the only one in  America? California? Atleast i can say that i've tried it.

My friend and I needed an afternoon snack and french fries sounded delicious at that time....He went downstairs and got drinks from Coffee Bean and I went to place an order of sweet potato fries and sour & cream fries (BIG MISTAKE!!) The girl warned me it will be a 10 minute wait but I don't think she know how slow her coworkers were....FYI there were 3 ppl workin on the fries....

As I was waiting, I observed how they made their flavored fries. They place their "special seasoning" whether it was BBQ, cheddar, sour cream, etc, etc, in a container along with a batch of fries. closed the lid and shake shake shake.....doesn't take a genius to do....

I ended up waiting 20 min for FRIES.......Yes just FRIES!!! The sweet potato fries were horrible, just horrible!!! Nothing special about it just horrible!! The sour & cream were just........................sour & cream!! Nothing special just horrible.....

The sour cream and onion fries are heavenly and so delicious!

But OMG, can this store be more efficient ?! The wait is literally 10 minutes for a cup of fries! They have the most barbaric fry cooker I've ever seen. It's a stupid metal box where they shove FROZEN fries in one opening then wait 5 minutes for it to spit out cooked fries in another slot. Oh don't worry, it's only enough fries to make 1 1/2 customer's order, so your fries will probably be cooked in the 3rd or 4th batch.

If Potato Corner's owner is reading this, here's a recommendation for you. Get rid of 6 of the 8 employees that work that small booth, and with the price you're charging for a large cup of fries ($6!!), invest in a commercial deep fryer. Look I even found one online FOR SALE at just $1,499. http://www.centralrest...

Thank me later when your sales sky rockets and customer come back happier than ever. UGGHhhh..

I've been here 3 times, and each time I have waited over 30 minutes for my order because the workers were too busy socializing! I once left the line altogether because the people behind the counter were too busy socializing with their friends! And I was the ONLY person in line!

They should change the name to Social Corner instead. I have never been so dissatisfied with customer service as I am with this place.

The three times I have placed an order, I've had to wait 30 minutes, and those before me kept getting their orders served BEFORE MINE. Like, really?! I could go downstairs to any fast food chain and get fries in a minute; which I will.

I'm sorry if you work there and you're not one of the workers who provide the TERRIBLE service, this post isn't for you.

But basically 4out of 4 times being disattisfied with service... That should speak volumes.

The fries are OK, not worth the price, though.

I grew up in the Philippines, but when I was young I moved here to the states.  On my few visits back to the PI, I discovered these flavored french fries.  It was not until my second visit back that I went to a Potato Corner.

Upon shopping at the Santa Anita Mall, I noticed a Potato Corner and suspected that it was a filipino franchise since they had the same idea and rhythm with how they seasoned the fries.

For the longest time, I craved BBQ flavored french fries. I remember how delicious they were when I had them in the PI.  And would look for their special seasoning.

Today, I decided to check them out and linked my suspection.  The service was great, the guy running the show was really nice and took the time to prepare the fries.  So that's a definite plus.  But the fries were just okay.  The flavors didn't pop and wasn't bold.  The fries itself were just okay.  It was nothing special.  But Pricey.  You get a Jumbo (it's really a small) for $2.99 plus tax.  I think that's too expensive for french fries.  Even though, I've craved these fries for years,  I was let down and will most likely not pay $3.24 for them again.

Great place for a snack after a long, rigorous day of intense shopping. They take my favorite deep fried potato and bring it together with your choice of seasoning and BAM! Fresh made chips or fries. Yummmm.

The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Whenever you walk by, they always offer free samples. I mean EVERYTIME. Even when I don't want any they still find a way to tempt me into trying some new combination. Sometimes, I don't even order anything because of all the samples they offer me haha! My favorite is the sour cream and onion french fries, highly recommended because it's not too salty and when it's freshed made it's like seasoned fries from Jim's (for those who have tried Jim's).

I love how there's like a mini food court set up on the second floor of the mall. A great place to grab a snack and give your footsies a break without having to trek all the way back down to the food court.

One again I am trying to be a fair Yelper. Because I know if I loved fries as much as most of the customers of Potato Corner, I'd give this place 5 stars.

My friend was with me when she told me about this place. I walked by one of the female employees who was giving out samples and she gave me both the Sour Cream and Buffalo flavor. Cold but tasty. Anyways, my sister and I are very health conscious so we didn't order anything but my friend did. She got an order of the sweet potato fries. Now, I am normally very healthy but sweet potato fries, I got to have. JUST.. not for a whooping $7 or $8. Too expensive for an order of fries! For this price I rather go down to the food court and get a real meal.

Tried a few from my friend's order and it was definitely not yummy. I've had better. And their ketchup is so watery.

Like my sister said "this is no big deal, it's just regular fries put into a plastic container and shaken with flavored powder."

This place is most certainly a place for junk food lovers!

Geez, I can't believe I'm reviewing this place.

But seriously, their fries are like crack- not that I have actually tried it before... I  am just sure that they are just as addicting though.

I shared the mega sweet potato waffle fries with the barbecue seasoning with my sister. It was sooo good. I know, it's just sweet potatoes with some barbecue specks but it really made me want more when I was done.

It's definitely representative of simplicity at its best.

Service was good and because we got the mega they gave us more stamps.

Though, it is pricey for what it is.

I love the fries..... if only they prepare it faster, I wouldve given 4 stars. And to complete the 5 stars, if my last experience wouldve been better: They were calling the customer ahead of me for her order that's ready and she was not coming to pick it up. She was actually in one stall next to Potato Corner where she killed some time waiting for her order. She couldnt come right away to get her order and I saw the employee's face really mad because the customer made him wait. That was bad customer service considering that you are slow preparing the order yourselves!

I really like potato corner a lot, I learned about them when they sponsored a very amazing Pasadena  City College event. I got my stub and i went there and tried it out. They're really nice, they have lots of potato to choose from. Yeah. Fries, Crispy Fries, Chips, etc.

I like the fact that after my first try, I went back again and again. Whenever i will go shopping at Westfield mall, I always make sure i have enough money to get me a giga dope bbq fries. Amazing!

I also like the service, they are really friendly. they have this card thing that gets you a free fries if you get it stamped or marked or holed for like 5 times or something.

There's always a sampler at the side.. wink.. so even if Ms Anna say its cold, we are lucky enough to always get a teaser before ordering.. well i sensed that they change the samples most of the time so it's all good for me. =)

    POTATO CORNER IS LAHV..

Half sour cream 'n onion and half cheddar fries! My girlfriend's guilty pleasure when we come to the mall. @____@ Staff is great here! I miss the customer rewards cards though. Anyhow I'll be back for sure because of the lady. I'm not complaining.

My boyfriend has this extraordinarily massive obsession with french fries that he frequently has visions of opening one of his one Potato Corners. So, while I was doing some shopping a few weeks back, I spotted this place and called him immediately to tell him the good news.

It took us a few weeks to finally find the time to go back to Santa Anita mall just to for these flavored fries. I thought, "How good could they be? They're just fries." We decided on the BBQ and the Sour Cream & Onion flavored in Mega Bucket (medium, I guess?). It's the perfect size for one person. Both flavors were awesome! My boyfriend claims the sour cream & onion has a hint of sweetness in the aftertaste, but I loved it otherwise. The BBQ was most favored, but I've yet to try the all the other flavors. My sister decided on the BBQ flavored chips and those were delicious as well. They tasted freshly cooked with the perfect amount of crispiness. I can't wait to go back this week for some more!

Not exactly conveniently located but it was well worth the trek, these fries are tasty. They are about as addicting as a bag of Lays. I bet you can't have just one.
All my Pinoi friends seem to know about the place. I love the spudster crazy dish. I has a mixture of chips, criss-cut fries, chili, melted cheese and sour cream. It really meshes well together. They even have their own fresh made chips with ridges. Oh and the chicken tenders...I could eat those in streaks. Potato Corner is onto something with the flavored fry thing. Keep an eye out for it.

    Its YUMMY.... No joke!
The sour cream and onion fries, hands down, ARE THE BEST.
Everytime I go to the mall, I have to at least past by the shop (so I could get free sample.. hehehe) just to smell it or buy a cup.
The only thing that is keeping me from giving this place a five star is because of the wait. It takes about 5-10 minutes .. that's why I am ALWAYS anxious to get my fries !
    the more the merrier. :D
I always watch them put it in the cup, because I hope they wouldn't spill any fries.. If they did, that would mean less fries for me T^T

Yummy fries :) They only put the fries in the fryer when you order them, so the wait can be a bit long, and it will be even longer if you order loopy fries. I'm a sucker for loopy fries, so I always ended up waiting like.. 10 - 15 mins for my fries, but it's worth it though.. Love their chilli BBQ flavor. They used to have stamp cards, collect 10 stamps and you can get a free order of fries (mega size), but they no longer have that promotion :( Oh well.. I'm still a fan of their fries though ^^
