I enjoyed a delicious brunch here this past Sunday with friends.

The freshly made waffles were DELICIOUS, as was the omelette I created at the omelette station.   I was tempted to eat more than one of the housemade chocolate chip muffins, but opted for the carrot cake square instead - YUM.  The waiter, Dan, was a delight and kept my coffee cup full at all times.

To quote an earlier review.."First foot forward in an Italian restaurant is the bread, not today not here" This bread was very firm and to be quite honest, tasteless. It's not completely hopeless if they try the following idea.. Use it for French Toast,  I can see that working out.

Requested a side of meatballs, waitress was happy to accommodate an off the menu dish. I'm typically a positive reviewer, this is actually hard for me..but I'm going to plummet through to save others. (clearing throat) These meatballs were horrible, I actually thought for a second..is this brisket..and is it sour tasting brisket? And then I looked at the shape..and confirmed with guest that they were indeed meatballs  The sauce was disturbingly dark and very acidic, the only visual I can offer is...hot liquid magma.  I wasn't interested in burning a hole on my stomach so I put the fork down. The stuffed mushrooms were prepared by an amateur, sorta like gluey cake stuffing not seasoned correctly.  I'm giving two stars one to the ice cold glass of water and the second star goes to the very sweet waitress. I'm high tailing it out of here and stopping at our local CVS for some tums.

We've been here a few times in the past several years and have found it to be okay, not bad.  When I first tried it out many years ago, I thought it was pretty good.  I'm not sure if that was because the food was really that good, or perhaps I hadn't developed a foodie palate back then.  The last handful of times we've gone, including last night, I've found the food to be just okay, but definitely nothing to write home about, and definitely not great Italian cuisine in any way, shape or form.

Last night, we started with the calamari, which was okay, and my fiancee had the scallops gremolata, which she liked, while I had the gnocchi, which was average.  We finished with the tiramisu, which also was average.

My fiancee really liked her blueberry cosmopolitans.  I had a Grey Goose martini, which was fine.

The price for everything was fairly reasonable.

I was surprised at how it was not crowded at all on a Friday night.  Years ago, this place was difficult to get into on a weekend evening.  Also, the waitstaff, while okay, seemed a little more casual than in the past; they were dressed in polo shirts, and not white dress shirts and slacks.  It just seems like everything is going downhill.

All that being said, it's not a bad place to go for dinner.  It's just that it's not fine dining anymore (maybe it never was and I didn't realize it), and if that's what you're looking for, you should go somewhere else.

Sunday brunch at the Post Office Cafe was our best friend's choice for her 30Th birthday meal.  We were all eager to experience what was said to be a "great spot" but unfortunately our experience was much less than "great".  For starters, the cafe offers a buffet style brunch for $19.95 per person which I thought was a tad pricey, but I thought, "Well, it must be delicious food for that price!"

Our server was great!  He catered to our every need, brought us condiments and beverages swiftly and he was very personable.

The food was below mediocre...standard breakfast items that we could have gotten at any hole-in-the-wall breakfast place, only I bet the food at the hole-in-the-wall would be hot.  Scrambled "eggs", sausage, under-cooked bacon, make-your-own toast and bagels, hard/cold home fries and some little quiches that were also COLD (no, literally, on a platter, not in a warmer).

I did enjoy the items that were meant to be cold though...the marinated mushrooms and artichoke hearts were pretty much what I ate.  I also enjoyed a swordfish kabob and it was really good.

I'm a vegetarian, but I do eat seafood, and the swordfish kabob was my only option for an "entree".  I think they should think about adding more seafood items and/or veggie items (other than the standard steamed squash and broccoli concoction).

We've been to the Post Office Cafe several times in the past for both their brunch and dinner and enjoyed it very much.

Sadly this was not the case on our visit Sunday for brunch. The atmosphere of the old post office is still intact and the servers are still good, but the food and the value has gone downhill severely.

So few choices, it was almost embasrassing. At first I was looking around for the rest of the offerings. No breads except some muffins, no carving station, no waffles. And MEATLOAF for a choice? REALLY? ummmm..no thanks. All they had were the standard breakfast offerings (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries), tossed salad with a few toppings, small fruit salad, horrible soggy snap peas, chicken in a fresh tomato sauce (good), the meatloaf, cold pizza, pasta. And a few desserts. Oh and an omelet station (I don't like omelets). No seafood/fish either.

It just seemed so obvious they were cutting back and it showed. Honestly at this point, they shouldn't be doing a brunch buffet if they can't offer a better selection. If you didn't like one or two of the offerings, you were out of luck. Granted it is one of the less expensive brunches around at $16.95 but I feel we barely got our money's worth as it was. I'd rather pay a few dollars more and have a few more choices.

And most telling? The place was almost empty. Sad, but people seem to be voting with their wallets and going elsewhere. I hope the management gets their act together and turns the PO Cafe around - it is a charming building.

I've tasted stamps that were more flavorful...

Heard that The Post Office had a new menu, so we chose to stop in and give it a shot. What a disappointment.

We started with two drinks from the bar and two appetizers. The drinks took awhile to arrive - wrong beer for me. Got that fixed rather quickly. And while waiting for appetizers, no bread or water was brought by (I had to eventually ask for some water)...other tables seemed to be getting better service (including water), so I put all of the above on my server. Strike one.

The appetizers...eh...we tried the White Clam Flatbread as it seemed interesting...it was not. It was tasteless and had a burnt flavor. Strike two. The "Just like Sunday Dinner" meatball appetizer was meatball bits inside some sort of pastry boat. It had promise, but was not what I was expecting. Flavor was not awful, but not great. Strike three.

We ask for the check, forgo entrees, and decide to stick with Sienna if having Italian in EG.

The inside decor has changed as well - I don't recall it being so orange, and the servers wearing orange golf shirts and khakis was pretty weak - you kinda have to stick with the white button-down and black pants if you're gonna do it right...

Sorry Pinelli Marra, but you're losing this one - I'll spend my money with you at the Grille and Pinelli's After Dark from now on.

My family and I have been looking for a place to hold our rehearsal dinner and we decided to try the food before we committed.

We tried the veal parm, veal francese, baked scrod, and a shrimp with eggplant and polenta. The first 3 entrees are on the menu for a group dinner and we were sadly disappointed. The veal was tough. The fish was very bland although she did like the mashed potatoes. The best out of the 4 was the shrimp dish, the eggplant was tough but a decent dish. The bread served prior to the meal was fresh and flavorful. The after dinner mints was the highlight of our dinning experience.

Overall the ambience was nice being a converted post office. The wait service was attentive. However, we will be looking elsewhere for a rehearsal dinner spot.

Came here with a coworker on a weeknight and it was kind of strange. It's a large place, and I like that it is a converted post office, but it was so empty!

I felt that the waiters were just staring at us the whole time waiting for something to do. They hovered around about 5 feet away, and it was just awkward.

The food was good, and it was decently priced, but the atmosphere was just weird.

Sunday brunch is really not all that good. There was an omelette/waffle bar with only one chef who was grumbling about the waiters not doing their job. It seemed to take extra long for him to make stuff which probably isn't fair but then why is there only one chef????

The actual buffet consisted of danish and quiches (looked like the kind you get from Sam's Club), cold scrambled eggs(hospital style), cold flavorless homefries, bacon, ham, chix marsala, swordfish kabobs (these were pretty good) and a meat carving station that was pretty much bleeding...ok thats not fair, just cause i wont eat the meat doesnt mean i have to talk trash about it.... the people I was with said the roast beef and ham were pretty good.

The dessert table was filled with tira misu (looked yummy), and several other brownies, cake and cookie options. Not bad but nothing that made me want to rave about it.

The bloody mary's...now those were fantastic...spicy and delicious.
I had been pretty interested in trying this place because of all the hype. It was really nothing special.

The service was mediocre as there were two waiters running around trying to keep up with things.

Next time I will go to a local breakfast nook where I can order a breakfast as I want it...hot. Haha no but I guess it takes a really skilled establishment to be able to pull off a buffet in a yummy and satisfying way that pleases all or at least a few- Post Office Cafe was unable to achieve this.

Ate dinner on a quiet Thursday night. I thought the interior was fabulous and interesting, it is in a historic district.  If you ask the manager will show you the safe and the old Postmasters office.  Salmon over risotto was the best and at $19 a good deal for an ample portion. At first glance I thought the place was pretentious, but glad I experienced it.

Went here with a group from work to try the place out. It is set in an old Post office (hence the name) behind the bars and teller windows and has an Italian theme. The place is large enough but it is a strange set up and really out of place for this area boasting seafood restaurants and grills. The menu is traditional Italian and tries really hard to be creative, but ends up disapointing the pallete and leaving you wondering why you even came to eat there. The service is slow even though the place was empty and it really did not match up with what I was expecting. I would say pass on this place. The prices are high and the food is not that good.
