We've been here a few times in the past several years and have found it to be okay, not bad.  When I first tried it out many years ago, I thought it was pretty good.  I'm not sure if that was because the food was really that good, or perhaps I hadn't developed a foodie palate back then.  The last handful of times we've gone, including last night, I've found the food to be just okay, but definitely nothing to write home about, and definitely not great Italian cuisine in any way, shape or form.

Last night, we started with the calamari, which was okay, and my fiancee had the scallops gremolata, which she liked, while I had the gnocchi, which was average.  We finished with the tiramisu, which also was average.

My fiancee really liked her blueberry cosmopolitans.  I had a Grey Goose martini, which was fine.

The price for everything was fairly reasonable.

I was surprised at how it was not crowded at all on a Friday night.  Years ago, this place was difficult to get into on a weekend evening.  Also, the waitstaff, while okay, seemed a little more casual than in the past; they were dressed in polo shirts, and not white dress shirts and slacks.  It just seems like everything is going downhill.

All that being said, it's not a bad place to go for dinner.  It's just that it's not fine dining anymore (maybe it never was and I didn't realize it), and if that's what you're looking for, you should go somewhere else.

I've tasted stamps that were more flavorful...

Heard that The Post Office had a new menu, so we chose to stop in and give it a shot. What a disappointment.

We started with two drinks from the bar and two appetizers. The drinks took awhile to arrive - wrong beer for me. Got that fixed rather quickly. And while waiting for appetizers, no bread or water was brought by (I had to eventually ask for some water)...other tables seemed to be getting better service (including water), so I put all of the above on my server. Strike one.

The appetizers...eh...we tried the White Clam Flatbread as it seemed interesting...it was not. It was tasteless and had a burnt flavor. Strike two. The "Just like Sunday Dinner" meatball appetizer was meatball bits inside some sort of pastry boat. It had promise, but was not what I was expecting. Flavor was not awful, but not great. Strike three.

We ask for the check, forgo entrees, and decide to stick with Sienna if having Italian in EG.

The inside decor has changed as well - I don't recall it being so orange, and the servers wearing orange golf shirts and khakis was pretty weak - you kinda have to stick with the white button-down and black pants if you're gonna do it right...

Sorry Pinelli Marra, but you're losing this one - I'll spend my money with you at the Grille and Pinelli's After Dark from now on.

Came here with a coworker on a weeknight and it was kind of strange. It's a large place, and I like that it is a converted post office, but it was so empty!

I felt that the waiters were just staring at us the whole time waiting for something to do. They hovered around about 5 feet away, and it was just awkward.

The food was good, and it was decently priced, but the atmosphere was just weird.

Sunday brunch at the Post Office Cafe was our best friend's choice for her 30Th birthday meal.  We were all eager to experience what was said to be a "great spot" but unfortunately our experience was much less than "great".  For starters, the cafe offers a buffet style brunch for $19.95 per person which I thought was a tad pricey, but I thought, "Well, it must be delicious food for that price!"

Our server was great!  He catered to our every need, brought us condiments and beverages swiftly and he was very personable.

The food was below mediocre...standard breakfast items that we could have gotten at any hole-in-the-wall breakfast place, only I bet the food at the hole-in-the-wall would be hot.  Scrambled "eggs", sausage, under-cooked bacon, make-your-own toast and bagels, hard/cold home fries and some little quiches that were also COLD (no, literally, on a platter, not in a warmer).

I did enjoy the items that were meant to be cold though...the marinated mushrooms and artichoke hearts were pretty much what I ate.  I also enjoyed a swordfish kabob and it was really good.

I'm a vegetarian, but I do eat seafood, and the swordfish kabob was my only option for an "entree".  I think they should think about adding more seafood items and/or veggie items (other than the standard steamed squash and broccoli concoction).

Ate dinner on a quiet Thursday night. I thought the interior was fabulous and interesting, it is in a historic district.  If you ask the manager will show you the safe and the old Postmasters office.  Salmon over risotto was the best and at $19 a good deal for an ample portion. At first glance I thought the place was pretentious, but glad I experienced it.

Sunday brunch is really not all that good. There was an omelette/waffle bar with only one chef who was grumbling about the waiters not doing their job. It seemed to take extra long for him to make stuff which probably isn't fair but then why is there only one chef????

The actual buffet consisted of danish and quiches (looked like the kind you get from Sam's Club), cold scrambled eggs(hospital style), cold flavorless homefries, bacon, ham, chix marsala, swordfish kabobs (these were pretty good) and a meat carving station that was pretty much bleeding...ok thats not fair, just cause i wont eat the meat doesnt mean i have to talk trash about it.... the people I was with said the roast beef and ham were pretty good.

The dessert table was filled with tira misu (looked yummy), and several other brownies, cake and cookie options. Not bad but nothing that made me want to rave about it.

The bloody mary's...now those were fantastic...spicy and delicious.
I had been pretty interested in trying this place because of all the hype. It was really nothing special.

The service was mediocre as there were two waiters running around trying to keep up with things.

Next time I will go to a local breakfast nook where I can order a breakfast as I want it...hot. Haha no but I guess it takes a really skilled establishment to be able to pull off a buffet in a yummy and satisfying way that pleases all or at least a few- Post Office Cafe was unable to achieve this.

Went here with a group from work to try the place out. It is set in an old Post office (hence the name) behind the bars and teller windows and has an Italian theme. The place is large enough but it is a strange set up and really out of place for this area boasting seafood restaurants and grills. The menu is traditional Italian and tries really hard to be creative, but ends up disapointing the pallete and leaving you wondering why you even came to eat there. The service is slow even though the place was empty and it really did not match up with what I was expecting. I would say pass on this place. The prices are high and the food is not that good.

A Valentine's Day dinner seemed like a good time to try this place from the Pinelli-Mara restaurant group.  This handsomely appointed restaurant  was really hopping.  My wife ordered a house salad to start off, which looked almost good enough to make a salad eater out of me.  She said that the ranch dressing was especially good.  The foccacia and Italian bread basket kept me nibbling.  She also raved about her entrée', the seafood cioppino - a nice mixture of seafood and shellfish in a seafood stock over toasted garlic crostini (which the chef forgot to put in, so it was brought out separately.  The carrots on the side were not al dente', they were just plan undercooked.  But the mashed potatoes were good - really good.   And it's a good thing that they were so delicious because they made up about 90%   of the 'Un-traditional Shepherds' Pie' that I ordered.  What makes it untraditional is that Instead of using ground beef it's made with marinaded  tenderloin, but there was so little meat in the dish that I found the $18 price tag to be a rip off.   We chose twin cannolis from the desert tray, but the ones shown to us had chocolate encasing the shells, the ones brought to us did not.  The cannolli shells were otherwise perfect, though the filling was a bit too sugary.
Though certainly not frivolously expensive, I woulId expect  better value at the prices charged here.  Usually, fine dining estallblishments like this give us the sense of  'Yeah, it was a bit expensive, but it was worth it!',  but the Post Office Café left  me thinking I got the short end of the stick.  Indeed, I was envious of my son and daughter in-law, who shared a pizza at Bertucci's for under $20.  I'm sure it was worth every penny!
