Super friendly!  In business for 30 years.   Good cup of java after hike.  I will be back for a homemade burger or pizza the next time I come up for a bike ride.

I work at Corte Madera Middle School a minute away, and this place makes a decent  cheeseburger that I can stuff in my mouth as the kids get sweaty and hyper off sugar during recess.

I've tried their lattes and mochas in the mornings, too, but they're nothing special.

I would never eat here again.  My friend ordered a sandwich and put down the wrong type of bread by mistake.  When he had it changed to the correct bread, the person behind the counter charged him 50 cents to switch the bread!?!  What a bunch of cheap bastards!  Is that the way you treat loyal customers who have patronized the place since 2000?  Plus, their prices are ridiculously high for the mediocre food (and I'm being nice to put it that way) that you get in return?

I heard the pizza was good, so I had to try it for myself.  Again, the high prices were not attractive.  The quality of the pizza?  Not that great.   I would rather drive to Ladera and get Round Table.

Bottom line:  unreasonably high prices + bad customer service = me buying lunch at Roberts' from now on.  I, for one, am happy that Roberts' opened.  I hope Roberts' drives this place out of business.

When I went to Woodside Priory School right down the road, my friends and I would sometimes stop here after school for a sandwich or a pizza.  It's a fun place to go hang out and get decent food.  The quality of the food is fine but nothing special.
I wouldn't recommend this place to people but if you are in the area and need a quick lunch, this place will do the trick.

Finally stopped here for lunch while on a bike ride and thought it was ok.

I frequently ride through Portola Valley but never stopped here until today. The service was snappy considering there wasn't many people there.

I ordered the steak fajitas. Nothing to really write about there. Generic tasteless cheese and pedisterian steak.

I'll only eat there again if my long rides schedule in a calorie break.

Obviously a mom and pop operation.  It is a pretty bare place inside with functional tables.  Order at the counter, get a number.  We sat outside because we had our dog with us.  Our number was called by the woman coming outside to shout - then she went back in and waited for us to come in to collect the food.  Since she had come out, she could have brought the food with her!

I had a single latte, which was quite acceptable.  We all had the burger with bacon and cheese, and fries.  They were good burgers, not too large, good texture and taste, properly cooked; several slices of bacon.  The fries were tasty, came salted and hot.  They served what I would think of as a proper portion size, not the excess size you get in many places.  With two fizzy waters and a latte, the meal was $39 for three lunches.  Two ice creams afterwards came to $6.

This is a very handy stop off point for a coffee and a rest room break after a walk at Windy Hill.  Easy parking.  The entry to the parking lot is right next to a gas station and a little easy to miss.

I literally just tried vomiting (intentionally...but I am not bulimic) the most disgusting sandwich I have ever had.  I have been ill for a few days and finally craved breakfast.  I popped in here and asked if they offered a breakfast sandwich because I didn't see anything on the menu and she said they did.  She makes me the greasiest, egg, cheese and ham sandwich she put on a hamburger bun.  I am assuming this is the cheapest bun she had.  She never asked me what kind of bread I wanted.  Silly me for assuming it would be anything else but a hamburger bun.  No spread, no nothing.  While she was making the egg I told her I wanted cheddar cheese.  She must have already put swiss on it because when I ate the sandwich in my car it had swiss and cheddar which I had to take off because it was just too much.  The worst part was this odd smell coming from it.  If I had to guess I'd say it was the type of oil she used but could also be the smell you get when you have something that has frost burn.  It literally stunk up my car (which is currently airing out with windows down).

This place was bad.  The charming, older woman behind the counter was the best.  No smile, no thank you, no customer service skills whatsoever.  Awful curmudgeon (is there any other kind).

I live in the area and have always wondered about this place and wanted to stop.  I will NEVER come here again.  Robert's is right across the street and where I will stop for a frozen pizza before coming here again.

I used to go to Corte Madera School, and I *loved* to visit the deli, which is less than 1/4 mile away from CMS.

    The burgers: Excellent.
    The hot dogs: Even better.
The burritos: Supreme. Incredible. Best burrito anywhere (except maybe Chipotle Mexican Grill).

Get.. The. Chicken. Burrito. (if you like burritos/Mexican food)

Had been going here for years for a lunch time sandwich. Received a $8.00
raw hamburger. This ended my patronage. Help could work on personability. This is obiously a family run business. I wonder to think that their prices went up right after their kids started college.

The Superette now Portola cafe does deserve a 1/2 star!I grew up in the area had pizza once very bland nothing special then maybe a sandwich or burger after that.I haven't been there in about 10 years nothing was worth coming back for. Luck has been on their side don't know how they stayed in business either this many years. The owner is the tall guy total  jerk  wouldn't serve my sister 1 of their specialty  sandwiches without the prescribed cheese on the menu. Not social or friendly was often rude & mean to Corte Madera students that came in for a snack after school....Stay away, stay away better choices @ Ladera Shopper....

Although expensive, I think they have an awesome Philly chicken sandwich and fries! Too bad I don't frequent here, since it's pretty far away from... (in my opinion)... everything. If you're a motorcycle rider who rides around this area during the weekends, check this place out!

This is a significant undiscovered neighborhood gem. The pizza is among the best of the bay area. You have to try the pizza!
