Overpriced for the "quality" you get.

Don't be fooled by the fancy photo of the hotel lobby. The photos of the lobby  and the hotel exterior are misleading to what the rooms are like (at least the one I stayed in). The room was small and dark...felt pretty dingy too.

The folks at the front desk are friendly and they offer free coffee in the morning.

They share a restaurant across the parking lot with the Jolly Roger...which is VERY OVERPRICED for what you get. The breakfast was like $8.99 for typical 2-egg/bacon breakfast...+ coffee is extra (go down the street to Denny's on Orangewood/Harbor, which is NOT overpriced being near DL--the Denny's directly across the street from DL is expensive)....

IHOP is just across the street and is OVERPRICED too.

I wasn't impressed with the Portofino. It wasn't anything special. There are better places to stay at in the area.

Needed to book a room close to Disneyland for me and 5 other family members. The pictures and reviews of this place seemed promising. Overall, the hotel is okay.

Pros:

- Can't beat that the hotel is within walking distance to the convention center and Disneyland.

- Staff is super friendly.

- Rooms are clean for the most part.

Cons:

- Bathtub was obviously not cleaned. I found sand in there when I took a quick look inside the bathroom. I was grossed out. Thank god I had a mini can of disinfectant spray.

- Who in their right minds would put towels in the bathtub?

- The outer sink was so clogged we couldn't use it

- I was sitting on the top bunk and found a bug underneath the pillow. I didn't wanna know if any of the other beds had bugs as well.

- Parking is super cramped.

- They don't even offer breakfast. Not even cereal. Boo!

I probably wouldn't go back here for sanitary reasons. I mean I know it's a hotel, but damn, at least try to make it look like you made an attempt to clean the rooms!

Just a quick review. My husband and I stayed two nights at the portofino. Rooms were clean and kept fairy up to date. (And no ugly bedcovers which seems to be common in cheaper hotels) Staff at the front desk was friendly and check in was fairly fast.  We had a decent sized balcony with chairs and a table, but we never used it. There is also a small store nearby maybe 15 feet away that sells snacks, drinks and gifts.

Only a few cons:
The staff never really mentions where anything is at -the pool, the mini "game room", laundry, or ice machine. You pretty much have to check for signs. The first sign seen is by the elevator however the arrows point upward  instead of actually down the hallway -kinda confusing.

Local phone calls are $1 per. I have to say I've never stayed in a hotel that charges for local. We were suprised by these charges upon checking out. If we had known we would have just used our cell phone. Possible charges were not communicated before hand nor any signage by the telephones. Just a minor annoyance.

Phone book in room is white pages only, so if your looking for food delivery better google it.

Portofino is clean, has spacious, comfy rooms and is walking distance to Disneyland.    They have a late check out deal so you can hang out at the park an extra day without worrying about what to do with all your luggage.

It's very close to everything so that's good.  The front desk was very nice, all staff was very nice.  It's great for a family of 5. My kids slept on the bunk beds and sofa bed, and we slept on the King bed.  However, our bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets kept coming off the sides - a pet peeve of mine. The sofa bed was much more comfortable.

Our kids loved the room and loved the fact that they had their own TV.  It's a great place if you are only there to sleep.  That said, I was surprised that there was nothing in the room to indicate tv stations, amenities, etc. We had to ask where the pool was, for example.  Even motels have books by the desks indicating what's what, what's where, etc.

The bathroom.... small and the door opens the wrong way.  Every time someone went in or out of it, they managed to hit my daughter with the door while she was blow drying her hair.

Great for families wanting to spend money on attractions not amenities.

A last minute business decision on a Thursday had me planning for a Sunday arrival at Anaheim.  Of course, I took my family.  One, I was lucky to find vacancy at the Portofino.  Two, I was luckier to get it at $90/night with a three-night stay considering Hilton wanted $315! With both the convention and Disneyland one block way I considered myself fortunate.

The front desk staff is super friendly, considering they upgraded our room to a kids suite.  It is nice with a second television, refrigerator, and microwave.  There is free, covered parking and vending machines sell soda cheaper than the stores.

This is not a hotel for die hard business travelers.  There is no lounge or hotel restaurant.  There are restaurants everywhere if you're willing to walk one block.  I have my own 3G card in my notebook because I never trust hotel ISP.

Cons:
Leaky faucet, though quiet.
Fire alarm went off.
Desk outlet for laptops, not functional.
Only one other accessible outlet by sink without  having to crawl behind the nightstand.

Pros:
Great for those who drive into Anaheim.  One exit off of I-5 and you're there!
Mini-store in the hotel building.
Easy, free parking.
Soft water.
Clean room, clean price.

I can't believe all the bad reviews for this hotel.  I've stayed at this hotel 3 times and every experience as been awesome.  The rooms are spotless, the price is reasonable, and the staff are quite knowledgable.  We stayed in the kids suite which as a connecting room with bunk beds, a kids table so that they can sit down color and read, refrigerator, microwave, and a tv in the kids room and one in our room.  True it only as french doors to seperate the rooms but if you want more stay in rooms conjoined by doors.  I liked being able to check on my kids during the night just by opening one of the doors.  Portofino is a great hotel I would recommend it to anyone.

One star for the front desk service, who were great. Otherwise avoid this hotel!!

We stayed at the Anaheim Hilton last year for our Disney trip and loved it (other than the fact that they turned off the water one night for repairs), but since it was far enough where I wanted to try a "closer" hotel I heard about this one with the kid suites. Turns out depending on which way you walk actually the Hilton is closer, and in every other aspect for the price we made out way better at the Hilton.

The walls are sooo thin that I was awakened by the families that woke up at the crack of dawn to get their kids to Disney (we tend to wake up later and end later), and we were on the top floor so the people below us would bang on their ceiling because we were still up late getting ready for bed. The "suite" fits 6 but it's like a room on a cruise ship - SMALL. And one small bathroom ... I could go on and on. Luckily, we weren't in the room most of the time but this is just not a place I'd be ever coming back to. Ever.

This place is across the street from disneyland which is nice cause you just walk over!!

The room was alright, it's very simple, but I loved the fact that they had the bunk beds and like a little living room for the kids. It was cute!
If your a bathroom person, this may not be the place for you, it's bit well not as nice as other places I have been, just simple like a motel like bathroom. The beds are ok, not super comfy, but good after a long day of walking around.

Overall its a decent hotel to stay at, the parking lot is a bit tight though, so if you have a big car, be careful! I would stay here again if the price is right, but I wouldn't pay more than $90 for this place

I stayed at this hotel with family last weekend when we went to Disneyland and I was unfortunately bit by bed bugs. I ended up going to the doctor to get some medication cream for the bites since they itched. The room number that we stayed at was #2503 on the fifth floor. I should have had my wife read the reviews before she booked the room at the Portofino. The employees were nice but it is never worth staying at any hotel when they don't properly clean the rooms or sheets. Do not stay here is my recommendation.

IF YOU STAY AT THE PORTOFINO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FIREWALL INSTALLED ON YOUR PC AND NO OPEN NETWORK SHARES!!!!

I just got back from the NAMM show.  I stayed one night at the Portofino.  Things must have changed since the previous 2 reviewers because I didn't find the room to be all that bad, and the parking lot is paved now.  It's not a 5 star like the Hilton, but it's not a 1 star like the Travelodge. OK now back to my first sentance...

So a few of us crashed a suite there.   We're geeks.  We need our internet fix.

Unlike the other 100 or so hotel / motels in Anaheim, Portofino doesn't offer WiFi access.  It does have in room Cat5 ports though.

So we all plugged our lappies in. Immediately I noticed a bunch of SMB traffic hitting my box.  (For those that don't know what SMB is, it's the file sharing protocol MS uses in windows) WTF?  I asked myself.  Curious, I went to network neighborhood and saw every fricken computer plugged into the network there.

So I started browsing.  I found network shares from all the big music equipment mfgr's (probably sales reps) I saw network shares from yamaha, KORG, Cubase, and a few other companies.  I found excel files with sales projections, Outlook PST files, good god, I just found it all.

Here's a hint Portofino:
ENABLE PORT ISOLATION ON YOUR SWITCH

And if you don't have a managed switch, it's time to upgrade. By having such a laxed switch setup, you're really putting your customers at risk, and the liability lies on you.

Luckily i'm a nice guy.  I didn't steal anyones files, do any damage, or anything like that.  Still though, whoever does Portofino's IT should be fired.  They suck.

Ugh where do I begin with our experience? ...We normally stay at the Hilton, but after talking to a Disney Dining operator decided to give Portofino a shot. BIG mistake, HUGE! Our fancy suites they raved about online, were not so fancy. And I'm not picky either, but when we travel with my parents they prefer "above average" accommodations. This just didn't fit the bill. Our windows had huge cracks and were covered with duct tape, oh so classy. The parking lot is a joke, it's more of a gravel area located way in the back. We called downstairs to ask for towels and the attendant said "Um sorry bro, but they're locked up and I don't have a key". How the hell do you run the front desk without access to simple necessities like towels??!!?? The prices are outrageous too. Steer clear of the Portofino!

I'm giving it one star  since it is so close to Disneyland and the convention center. I am attending a convention this week . I wanted to find a hotel within walking distance . The Portofino Inn. I called ahead and asked if they had refrigerators in the rooms . They said they could put one in for 9.95 a day . I said I wanted one. I called when I was 15 mins away and asked if they were sure that i could get a refrigerator. I was told no problem . I went to the store an bought breakfast goods .
I get there call up for the refrigerator . They said they would send one right up . After an hour i called down they said they ran out . I told said I had called and asked twice to reserve one , that I had perishables . The said they were Sorry  and I would have one tomorrow . The next day after icing up my groceries i went to my  convention . I get back no freeken fridge I called again they said sorry they ran out again . Look I know I'm going on about this but I spent $50 dollars on breakfast goods based on what they told me . I would have moved to another hotel if they weren't all sold out . Al so they don't tell you on the website that they " hi speed Internet " is $9.95 a day . The "hi speed Internet " is slower then the dial up I had in Italy 5 years ago . This place might be OK for families but not for business. In fact it is really lame

The pictures were so much nicer than in person!  Other than the fact that it is across the street from Disneyland...there isn't anything to rave about this hotel.  The room was old and you felt icky sitting and using the bathroom and bed.  I didn't realize the "suite" with a different sitting area and bedroom area was separated by a sliding glass door that didn't keep the sounds apart.  The room key didn't operate for 2 of the 4 days we stayed (other guests had the exact same problem), so you had to go back down to the front desk to get a new card.  What a hassle!  The front desk attendants were pleasant however, but I didn't talk to them other than to check-in and out.  The phone to dial down to the front desk was always a busy tone.  The room was made up everyday, but they never restocked the shampoo and there was only one bar of soap.  So you had to go back and forth from the outside sink to the tub.  I found hair on the "clean" towels...that was disgusting!!!  They also forgot to empty our garbage one day.  This is a kind of a cheap hotel, but they are charging you for the location.  Otherwise, no one would really stay here.  Unless you have a burning desire to try this hotel out...steer clear.
