The Portland Marriott City Center is in the heart of downtown Portland, with many restaurants, pubs, etc. within walking distance, including the must-visit Voodoo Doughnuts.  Service is great, and the staff will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.  I was on the 17th floor, and would recommend a high floor.

As with many centrally located hotels, parking is expensive.  And I miss getting a newspaper (I was there on a weekend).

We stayed at the Portland Marriott over Halloween weekend. The location was perfect and was within walking distance to several bars, restaurants as well as Powell's,Voodoo doughnuts as well as a small shop that sells Moonstruck Chocolates (my weakness).

The rooms were nice and spacious and the beds were comfortable. All the rooms look like they were recently updated and are equipped with flatscreen TV's.

My only complaint would be the outrageous $30 VIP parking charge. I understand you have to pay to park downtown but we opted to park at a parking garage that only cost us $5/day and walk a few blocks.

    Reason for stay: Portland Vacation!
    Visit date: September 2-6, 2011
    First time? Yes.

I give this hotel a 2 mainly for staffing problems.
The front desk/check out staff needed a lesson in customer service. First, she showed no concern when we told her that my friend's earrings went missing from the room, not even a 'we'll let you know if it turns up'. Then, when we told her we'd like to leave out bags for a few hours, she said very nose-up-in-the-air "o, valet can help you with that" and expected me to go get valet myself. I'm sorry but for a 3-star hotel I expect a little more. Maybe a...'let me get valet to help you' or even just a little intonation change: "o! valet can help you with that" (did you hear the difference?) Where's the friendly customer service?
As far as any visitor tips on how to get around town, don't expect the front desk to be very helpful. Do you own planning before hand, use your smart phone, or grab a bunch of local maps from the airport when you arrive.

Otherwise, the hotel was clean and has a convenient downtown location,
but next time I'm definitely staying elsewhere.

I had friends come into town a while back and wasn't impressed but wasn't disappointed...

The location is great (walking distance to just about everything) and the rooms were nice modern & clean.
Service wasn't great, I felt a little like cattle at the valet when I picked my friend up for breakfast & at night to go out. The quality of the towels in the bathroom was very poor (I noticed how thin they were when I dried my hands).

I would suggest if you are hungry try the Original which is connected to the hotel, they have awesome blueberry pancakes as well as salmon burgers. They also stay open till 4am Fridays & Saturdays.

I was here on a business trip and they gave me a nice corner room.  Though I'm giving it 4 stars because of the service.  I forgot to bring my charger for my laptop and the staff was helpful in identifying a couple nearby computer businesses so that I could purchase a charger.  I also asked for directions to the Farmer's Market and they advised me the best place to catch the bus to get down to PSU.  The valets were very nice about opening doors when I entered even when I was very casually dressed.  I had breakfast on Monday morning and the staff was very nice to give me a private table since I was eating by myself.

Overall, it's in a good location near a lot of the good food trucks as well as getting around town.  My friends knew how to get here pretty easily when they dropped me off.  The price might be a little high for a personal trip but it's definitely a good downtown location for a business trip.

Horrible.  Aside from the incredibly friendly night concierge, this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had.

First, I had just made the 205-mile bike ride from Seattle with my boyfriend, and we arrived close to midnight.  The front desk staff was a little off-putting and impolite.  While I was there, another guest came to let the staff know his key wasn't working and was treated as if he were a complete idiot, with a snide, "What exactly is the problem, sir?" from the desk staff.

The evening was fine, but the next morning was just awful.  First, a strange woman on a cell-phone came wandering into our room, using a key, as I was showering and my boyfriend was getting dressed.  It took a minute or two to get her to leave, and we still have no idea who she was.

Next, we went to breakfast at a fantastic restaurant a couple of blocks away called The Original...highly recommend it.

However, upon our return, I tried to use the key in the door, and it didn't work.  I went to the front desk and was made to wait to speak with a manager.  He came out and almost gleefully told us that he was charging us a $250 fee for smoking in the room.  He said someone on our floor had complained, that he'd searched our room, and that he knew we had been smoking.  Since neither of us are smokers and we'd been gone from our room for about two hours, I was completely baffled by this accusation.  The manager didn't even have the decency to come to my room to explain how he was so certain we were smoking .  He refused to budge on the matter and would only re-program my key when I accepted the fee.  So a mediocre hotel room, used for fewer than 12 hours ended up costing over $400.

And the final straw, upon picking up my bike from the valet, the front tire had been popped.  It was completely fine the evening before, and as the leak was not a slow one (went flat almost immediately after refilling), I can only assume it was damage caused at the hotel.

So all in all, mediocre hotel, excessive fees, and damage to personal property make this hotel one to AVOID.  The location and the one polite staff member are the only highlights, as far as I could see.  Oh, by the way, the crappy continental breakfast is $14.  Seriously?!

We stayed on the 13th floor. Ooooohhhhh...

For our mini-honeymoon, we wanted to stay downtown again because we wanted to be able to leave the car at the hotel and just walk the town. This place is so central and there are so many places within walking distance: restaurants, Pioneer Square, shops, bars... and the transit is free within the city centre. Everything is so close. We valeted our car and didn't see it for a long time.

The rooms were reasonable. They were really clean. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but they do have cable... we ended up watching a movie one night.

I like that you had to use your key to get to your floor. Our room was on the 13th floor. Right across from the ice machine. Did you know that the "Do Not Disturb" hang-y things are all different... I stayed at a Marriott the night before the wedding and theirs said something about being in the zone... while this one said something about hearing a pin drop (or vice versa... I thought it was really funny... that's effort).

I really like the shampoo and conditioner they have at the hotel. I take the hotel toiletries home all the time. It's Bath and Body Works Orange Ginger. I found a catalog that has Marriott products you can order--- pillows, blankets... this shampoo.

    I would stay here again.

I recently paid my first visit to the City of Roses for the wedding of my good friend. Like the rest of the guests of the wedding, I stayed at the Marriott City Center and looked forward to being in the heart of the city for a weekend of exploring followed by the romantic fairytale ending of my friend's wedding. The weekend of exploring and the fairytale ending happened, but I was sadly pretty disappointed with this Marriott and if it weren't for the prime location, I'd probably be removing a star.

I've stayed at Marriott's my whole life everywhere from Rome to San Ramon, California. In fact, I lived in a Marriott for well over a year at one point in my life. So needless to say, I know and appreciate the customer service the Marriott typically offers, but I felt that this was lacking from the moment I entered this Marriott.

I originally booked my room through the wedding party and used the wedding rate, but prior to my visit I called and said that I would be using my Marriott points for the stay instead of paying with cash. When I arrived, I checked in at the same time as another one of my friends. Immediately, the front desk employee seemed confused and not quite with it when it came to my check-in. I looked over and saw that my friend received a welcome bag from the bride and groom. When I mentioned it, the employee bluntly informed me that I wasn't on the list and therefore wouldn't receive a bag. At the time, I wasn't sure if only family and the bridal party got the bags or if every guest was to get them, so it wasn't about getting or not getting a welcome back but rather how the employee handled the situation which was not very politely and made me feel extremely embarrassed.

Finally, I got my key for room 1601 and proceeded up to the 16th floor. You need a key to get to the rooms from the elevator so the key worked fine in the elevator and then I got to my room. When I put the key in 1601, the key wouldn't work and after several minutes of trying, I finally gave up and called down to the front. They treated the situation as if I had made a mistake and somehow wasn't working the key properly and questioned how I got up in the elevator to my floor in the first place if the key wouldn't work for my room. I had no idea and at this point just really wanted to get to my room and settle in since it was past 11 PM. The employee came up to my room and hesitantly took my key, looked very confused and only when it wouldn't work for him either did he finally believe me. After about five minutes of him trying to figure out the situation, he finally informed me that they had written down room 1601 for me but my room was actually 1606. So... this whole time I was trying to get into this room that was occupied by someone else and remember that this is after 11 PM. Very awkward. I finally got to my room and settled in. The rooms are pretty standard with pretty uncomfortable beds and there's really nothing incredible about them.

To wrap up this review, when I met up with my friends later that night, one of the first things my friend (the bride) asked me was if I got my welcome bag. I felt bad when I had to say no since this was her weekend and the last stress she needed was to worry about a guest not getting a silly welcome bag. But she had worked very hard on these bags and specially dropped them off and spoke with the Marriott to give them to each wedding guest when they arrived. They had maps that she had highlighted by hand, goodies, water and most importantly, details about the wedding weekend activities and venue. So the next day, I went up to the front desk again and told them that I never got the bag and I was supposed to. Even after I mentioned that the bride specifically told me, they still gave me a hard time and after a lot of resistance, gave me one. It was the most awkward customer service experience I've encountered for awhile and they acted like I was "stealing" this bag...this bag my friend specifically made for the guests. I didn't even care that much if I got the bag or not, but knowing how much work my friend put into these made me frustrated and annoyed for her that they were holding them hostage like they did, especially since they weren't property of the Marriott in the first place. They didn't make them, they were tasked with giving them to the guests when they arrived and they made it as awkward as possible.

I hope that other guests didn't have this experience. So from the poor customer service to the fact that they told me I was in the wrong room, when it comes to lodging in Portland, I will definitely choose another hotel next time. I hope this Marriott works on their customer service and key distribution in the meantime.

My husband and I planned a trip to Portland to celebrate our 5th Wedding anniversary.  Because I had 2 Marriott gift cards, we searched for Marriotts in the downtown Portland area.  We booked this particular one because of location and price.

We found a special promotional price online for WA and OR residents for that weekend (only $107 per night), so we booked it!  I noted in the online reservation form that we were celebrating our anniversary.  When we checked in, they had surprised us with an upgrade to a corner room (much bigger with awesome views of the City and mountains!).  I was pleasantly surprised, particularly since we were still paying the cheap rate I had found online ;)

The room was great, bed was very comfortable and we had requested extra feather pillows.  My hubby and I also loved the nice comforter.  He wanted to somehow stuff it in our suitcase and bring it home with us!  There were 2 mini refrigerators in the room, so we didn't have to take our cooler out of the car.

They do charge $31 per night for valet parking only.  We read some reviews beforehand and ended up self parking ourselves in a parking garage 2 blocks away for $20 per night. We saved money, and we don't really like anyone driving our car (plus waiting for valet when you want to go somewhere + tips).

Wi-fi is not free in the rooms, which was a bummer.  It was free in the lounge by the restaurant and in the main lounge down by the main entrance (tiny sitting area).

I ordered room service the last night (a burger and fries) and the food was pretty good.

I left my ear buds in the room when we checked out. By the time I remembered the next morning, I called and they said housekeeping had not turned anything in.  I know I left them on the desk, so I was a bit disappointed that the staff kept them and didn't turn them in.  I know it's "finders, keepers" but at least give me 48 hours to claim them before you pocket them.

Overall, it was a great stay with friendly staff and we loved our room.  I would definitely return.

Great boutique-style hotel. Clean, elevators that provide key access, great location. Room was comfortable (on the smallish side) and clean. Don't buy expensive parking - street parking is ubiquitous. Got this on Priceline for less than $100 a night - which was a bargain.

I stayed here a few years ago and decided to stay here again during a recent PDX trip.  It is two blocks away from Nordstrom, Pioneer Place and restaurants.  I'm pretty low key when I travel -- meaning that I travel light and am laid back about my stay.

I booked my overnight trip on-line and the room had 2 double beds and included valet for a total of $162 (including tax).  I arrived an hour early (check in is at 4:00) but my room was ready.  They confirmed that my rewards number was already applied to the room.  After seeing that the room was comfortable, I headed out to do a little shopping.  I stopped by the front desk and they shipped off a FedEx package for me.  I went to several stores and when I returned, the valet person opened the door for me as I re-entered the hotel.  I like the security feature (many hotels have this) of using my key card to make the elevator move.  I did not use room service and the room had everything that I needed.

It wasn't a gorgeous room and it was odd that the bathroom didn't have a vent switch to use while I took my shower.  The hair dryer broke while I was there but no biggie...I just put my hair in a ponytail and I was good to go.  There isn't a fridge in the room so I couldn't buy a beverage and expect it to be cold a few hours later.  They accidentally charged an additional $30 for the valet but when I brought it to their attention, they fixed it.

I would stay here again because it is in downtown Portland and has easy access to several places that I enjoy visiting.  There are three Starbucks within a stone's throw from the place.  In addition, there is a Peet's Coffee and Tea right next to the hotel.  I would stay here again again in the future.  It's not a palace but it gives me a comfortable bed, nice tv and bathroom.  That's all I really need for an overnight stay.

Great views from the corner rooms on the north side of building. This place is really well run, polite, and friendly, from the front desk to the concierge lounge to the valets to housekeeping. It also regularly takes name-your-own price reservations on Priceline.

I stayed here Friday night. The valet guys were great! They even recommended a less expensive parking garage nearby when I asked.
I was disappointed, however, when the only front desk person available, grabbed a ringing phone rather than acknowledge my presence. I'd been standing there for a minute or two. Another gal noticed me from behind the desk and asked her to help me; instead, she chose to answer the phone and assist that person completely ignoring me. Had it not been for the attempt the other woman made to get her to help me, I would be more critical. I chalk up what happened to inexperience and naivete around customer service.

Location is good. Workout room is nice (where's the cleaning solution)?

    Bathroom was very small.

I had a drink and chowder in the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The chowder is good, and the wine selection is local and decent.

My husband and I stayed here recently for one night.  Because it's so much cheaper than other hotels in the area, we had low expectations but were pleasantly surprised.  The room was nice and comfortable, had a great view, and nice bath products.  The staff at the front desk were friendly and the hotel is close to lots of stuff.  I would definitely stay here again!

I've stayed here quite a few times over the last few years and have never had a bad experience.  Rooms have always been nice and clean.  Staff is very friendly.  I guess the only downside would be parking - either valet or find a garage nearby...but that's just downtown Portland, I guess.

I've stayed here twice for business. The last time I was a little disappointed. My room (1203) was directly adjacent to the rooftop maintenance areas. So -1 star for the distracting view. I ordered dessert at 9pm (the room service menu says that they're open for service until 11pm) and was delivered my cobbler on a plastic cafeteria tray! The cobbler was mediocre at best, warm - not hot, and didn't really do it for me. My breakfast the following morning was a little better. Delivered on the standard room service wooden tray.

The bed was comfortable, and I like the alarm clock with the iPod/iPhone dock. Check-out was easy. It took the doorman a few minutes to hail me a cab, which seemed off at 8am in the morning.

We've got a corporate rate here, so I'm sure I'll stay again. I'd have stayed at the Hotel Monaco if it hadn't been $65 more per night. At $200 a night, I was hoping for a little more.

Great location, great value for its price. I was pretty happy about my stay at this Marriott. Couple points that I liked about this hotel are (1) Jacuzzi was pretty good - not those small 4 people tub but this one was pretty big. (2) courtesy  PC and printer near the entrance to check-in and print out boarding pass.

One of the disappointment was their "business center". This room was 8x4 tops, 2 chairs and 2 PCs clammed together. My fiance described it as "it was so small that one person inhale and the other person need to exhale". And no free wireless connections, instead, you need to pay $10/day if you want to use Internet.  Hmmm....  We went to a cafe across from the hotel for the free wireless connection :)

I stayed at the Portland Marriott City Center last week on business, and actually attended a training at the same location.  When I checked in, the front desk folks were friendly and gave us some tips on local dining.  Our rooms were very nice (I was on the 15th floor), and I had a nice view of the river - my co-worker was lucky to have a corner room, with a wonderful view.  We did not eat at the hotel, as we were informed that the restaurant was mediocre and over priced, and chose instead to access all that the city had to offer, which was a simple stroll in any direction (seriously, the high point of the hotel, was its proximity to the Light Rail system, gourmet food trucks and great restaurants).  In terms of a good training location, I thought that Marriott did a wonderful job of hosting our group - they gave us a good continental breakfast and great afternoon snacks.  All in all, a good visit.

This hotel surprised me in a very positive way.  Service is of the highest quality at this Marriott.  The entire staff takes customer service seriously and they were very attentive to our needs.  Staff was friendly and courteous in a manner found in much more expensive hotels in the larger cities.

This is a downtown hotel and doesn't have the amenities of a resort.  The lobby is small and they do not have a pool.  However, they have a fine exercise room and whirlpool.  Also, the complimentary breakfast and evening happy hour were satisfying.

Excellent staff and management set this hotel apart from the others.

Incredible location in my favorite quadrant of Portland. Large beds! The Portland Marriott City Center is a fine compromise between visiting friends at Portland State, twirling in the quad, and reading good books at Powells.

For a poor art student who's piggybacking on a free weekend trip with his businessman father's Marriott credits, this is as pleasant and lavish as Marriotts get. The amenities include a heated spa and workout room, both of which I didn't have time to use. We (the lover and I) were too busy taking advantage of the comfy room then exploring sketchy parts of Portland underneath sordid overpasses where heroin needles are.

While Marriott is hardly a definitive representation of the area the hotel is in, the area the hotel is in is an ideal representation of Portland. There are lots of small business, museums and parks in the area. I recommend checking out the view from the top floor inside the window-lined VIP lounge. Free breakfast and dinner if you sneak in, um, or if you stayed in at least one Marriott from every state. Oh, dad.

Average for your downtown hotel.  I can't really say much.  Not sure if I would pay full price for this hotel.  Just used up my Marriott Points.  The breakfast buffet is about average (what you would get a Hampton Inn or a Courtyard Marriott), but they probably charge a lot because you're in the city.  I would recommend going out and finding something else.  Their concierge was very helpful though in pointing us towards their outdoor festival that they hold every Saturday.  Lots of crafts, handmade art, and FOOD!  Go check it out if you're ever in the city.

Don't bother going to the "business center."  The computers are soooooo broke.

Stayed here during our trip to Portland. In the heart of downtown and walking to sight see and all of the shops was easily accomplished. Love the fact Peets Coffee & Tea is next door on the corner. Valet parking is the only here which will cost you $30 + tip or you can park yourself around the corner @ Alder Street Garage in the parking garage and spend about $15 (check the time as the do have lower rates). Same place where the hotels park where they charge to to drive 2min and park for you.

Also, If your a beach fan you have to go and will love Cannon Beach. The only other beach we like better is Santa Monica.

We booked our room here knowing we wanted to stay somewhere downtown during our weekend there. This Marriott was all we needed!

We took the train from the airport and walked the two blocks to our place-- very convienient ! The front desk was really nice when they checked us in and we got a room on one of the higher floors like we requested since the reviews said they were the nicest and newly remodeled.

The room was spacious and clean- awesome TV and the bed was like heaven!

Another cool thing was you could print out your boarding passes for free right in the lobby. We loved it!

    Location, location, location

Although the room we stayed in was pretty average for the money, I have to give big kudos to the staff and location. My mom was visiting and we decided to stay in a hotel for something fun and different.  We could easily walk to restaurants and bars, which was a big plus since my mom can't get around quite as good as she used to. We never ended up taking a taxi because the location was that great. The staff was also extremely helpful when it came to suggestions on places to go nearby for what.

Tip: Have your out-of-town guests stay here. It's more affordable than most other hotels downtown, and they will be able to get around without you and a car for little errands.

This is standard Marriott quality, in a great location.  I was less than impressed with the front desk staff, but we got a great rate that included parking and the breakfast buffet (which was by far one of the best quality quickie-hotel-breakfasts I've encountered).

Valet parking was very convenient, with drop offs right in front of the hotel's main entrance.  When we were ready to go, the car was ready almost immediately, as well.  The linens and decor were nice, nothing super extraordinary.  The vending machine on my floor did not work - no big deal, but when you're trying to avoid a hangover and just want a quick soda, its a bummer.  The toiletries were Bath and Body Works, which was very nice.

We also had dinner at Shula's, which is the in-hotel restaurant, which was a pleasant surprise, but which I'll review separately.

Location, Location.  Easy walking to all points downtown.  Staff at this Marriott was on their toes, with a smile. Unusual for us, but we did not have a reservation on a Saturday night. They were almost fully booked with a long line of people trying to check in and still managed to find us a great room, valets were very busy  AND were prompt all the same.

Breakfast @ Mez was respectable, warm, plenty of choices at the buffet.

Rooms with the Marriott Brand are consistent, very clean, in order, great beds, linens and quiet.  in the middle of the city - quiet.  Air Conditioning is silent.  What a blessing.

We travel often, and over the years Marriott has earned our loyalty.
A shout out to Shane Carlson, Room Division Mgr.  He helped us out in a time of need.  Thank you, it made all the difference in our stay to have a cheery efficient person to check us in.  Mr. Marriott, Please make a note of this staff member, he is customer service centric.

4 stars only due to the weariness of the lobby.  It gets a lot of use and is starting to show it's age.

Good hotel right in the heart of Portland. Surounded by shopping, and food.

Great location, price and quality. The staff was very friendly and accommodating in all aspects. The room was larger than expected and had a lovely city view - not facing the noisy street.

I felt very comfortable and welcomed here. I will definitely stay again for future visits.

The best part about our stay at this Marriott was how incredibly friendly and helpful all of the staff were. From the chocolate chip cookies we snagged at check-in (even though we checked in at 1:30am!) to helping us find a great place for brunch (Mother's is just a few blocks away), the folks at the Marriott were awesome.

The rooms are clean and comfy too, but we wished the window opened. Props for the super-accomodating room service, even if the delivery guy thought we were weird for ordering bananas at 11pm (sometimes a girl just needs some potassium).

Conveniently near the lightrail and Powell's Books too.

The location + price for booking online is what clinched the deal. It's a good-looking hotel, the room was decent, and the staff we dealt with were nice & mostly helpful.

The only downside to the location is that it seems to be douchebag central. On our second night my friend & I came back to the hotel after dinner nearby & were forced to deal with a couple of drunk tools who were left behind by their equally drunk friends & trying to use the elevator without a room key. They  would not exit the elevator so we could use it to get to our room (no way in hell were we going to let two strange dudes ride up on our room key). When they finally reached their friend, a rather tiny woman who looked like a boxer, she was exiting another elevator & proceeded to pick a fight with me & threaten my life, despite the fact that I had not said a word to her (though my friend flipped her off after tiny boxer addressed me as "ponytails" & asked what my problem was). Know your limits, folks. Especially when you're not even 5' tall & weigh 90 pounds. When we got to our floor I called the front desk to complain & they said they'd look into the matter. The next morning my friend asked about the incident & was told they had reviewed the surveillance video & informed the offenders to cool it or they'd be asked to find another hotel. That got a big WHATEVS from my friend & me. Ideally we wouldn't have been so exhausted & desperate to get to our room because we might have had the presence of mind to go to the front desk immediately instead of waiting for the drunkards to figure out that they couldn't make the elevator work without a room key.

A more comfortable bed & a bathroom with walls that were made of a material thicker than rice paper would have made the whole thing easier to swallow. Even still, that was one incident out of 3 nights & the hotel *was* in the perfect location for everything we planned to do. I guess being asked if I "want to die tonight" is a small price to pay for convenience.

Unfortunately, I was less than impressed with the Marriott.  I actually had to call them to clean our room when we returned at 4:00 p.m. and saw that it had not been cleaned.

Very nice, swanky and the staff were all incredible. The day we got there, we were greeted with a great room, great view and a free movie! I was sad to find out they just had the jacuzzi and gym and not an indoor pool but it was forgiven because the hotel was located in a great part of the city and because of their amazing restaurant which had terrific hamburgers. This was our first hotel during our first visit to Portland, OR and it couldn't have made the trip any sweeter. Please keep it up Marriott!

We paid 109 dollars for a room.  The comforter and pillows were super soft!  Valet was 15 bucks on top of it.  It was situated in a good place which was walking distance to a lot of stuff, so that was a bonus. The staff was very friendly.  Free wi-fi.  I believe they had a work out room as well.  I guess I could give it 5 stars based on the above considering the price we got and location.  Although, I think that was lower than normal, maybe it was because it was a weekday.

Marriott is one of the better hotel chains out there. The Portland Marriott City Center is just steps away from Pioneer Courthouse Square, Pioneer Place, and tons of restaurants and shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room service was actually pretty good, though pricey. But like many urban hotels, parking is mainly valet. Which means you'd have to tip the valet every time you call for your car. And I'm not sure where their garage is located, but give them about 10 - 15 minutes to get your car ready.

For the price, this is a very comfortable hotel with plus bed, great city ciews(corner rooms!) and all the typical Marriott ammenities. Quiet indoors with a walkable neighborhood with shops, whole foods, restaurants. Safe area though valet is 30 per night.

The location is good since it is right downtown in the middle of everything, and the valet service was really great because they held my bags both before I checked in and after I checked out while awaiting my flight.  The room was a little small but it was pretty standard in terms of comfort.  The thing that knocked off the stars were because I was expecting to check-in at 3pm like I was guaranteed on BrewFest weekend, and I did not get my room until around 5pm.  Talk about bad timing, not cool making me wonder around downtown PDX after hitting up BrewFest.

I had a great experience at this hotel. I would have to agree with Alan B, and say that the service was excellent. We arrived bright and early and pulled aside and were able to check in even though it was quite early. We had spotted a lot next to the marriott on the way there, and chose to park there. Do that! The lot is only 8 dollars for the entire day and night on a weekend, and 9.25 otherwise. Parking at the marriott is 24 dollars a day, so this was much better. Our room was really nice, the bed was nice and comfortable, and I was really impressed by the hotel shampoo.  They had a multitude of maps that helped us to navigate our way through portland. The gym looked very nice for a hotel, although I did not use it, and the whirl pool, which I did use was very nice.  The concierge helped us find 2 restaurants, one for each night, and both were excellent, he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.  Lastly, with a AAA discount this hotel was extremely affordable and worth way more than what we paid. The location was superb, just a couple of blocks from the main public transit that helped us travel everywhere in the city. We could also walk most places from here if we wanted, which came in handy late one of the nights. This place is great, and very much recommended.  Great Location, great service, Great price, and Great time Guaranteed.

Great location and service. But they gave us a double, which was uncomfortable for two people. So, we ended up sleeping in separate beds most of the trip. We were able to get a couple of cardio workouts in, and hopped in the whirlpool to wind down. It was pretty empty during the times we went. And they had a fruit basket with apples and pears, which we totally took advantage of. A pool would have been nice, but I can't be picky because we were walking distance to all the great shops.
