As someone who hates flying, I appreciate that PDX always makes me feel at ease. Something about the atmosphere (maybe all of the green and blue hues) helps settle my nerves. They have a great variety of restaurants and stores, like Stanford's, Gustav's and Nike, to name a few. I also love how "green" this airport is; you will notice recycling bins everywhere and even the bathrooms have energy-saving quirks.
Overall, it's a very modern airport with a lot of great qualities! -

It's easy to complain about airports, but kind of hard to find things to complain about PDX. Even the TSA agents are customer-oriented, while maintaining their professionalism. They recommend people stand in shorter lines (by going to the other side) without being pushy, and one even wished me happy birthday when noticing my DOB on my driver's license. The only complaint i've heard regarding security is someone expected that after all that touching they do on occasions, that at least they should have had the common courtesy of also asking for a phone number afterwards. But, I digress.
My favorite things about this airport are its transport accessibility and restaurant options. It's nice not having to ask someone else to take you to or pick you up from the airport (due to the MAX), and even nicer to get good food at regular prices with lots of places to choose from.
While PDX is probably as good as it gets as it pertains to airports, I'm only withholding the 5th star because of some issues with the layout of restaurants. For example, if you have a layover at PDX, you'll have to go back through security after accessing some of the places. But if you like the TSA screenings, I suppose it will work out well after all.Listed in: Places to get High (in the…

Oh crap man! You know you're a dogface in the Yelp army when you start reviewing airports. PDX is owned by the Port of Portland, and operated for benefit of the planet, humankind, economic justice, virgin forests, truth, justice, the baby Jesus...and just a smidgen of profit - just a little.
Now if America were a Socialist country, I'd be reviewing the train station. Smoking iron locomotives with big red stars; vendors selling bowls of hot porridge; peasants in threadbare greatcoats running across the great station carrying suitcases - no: not rolling them - carrying them by the handle.
But America is not a Socialist country, and so I'm reviewing the Airport. Coffee baristas; boutique shops; pubs; restaurants, Illuminated, translucent polymer, floors with inlayed maps of local geography; free wi-fi; art - and it's not public art either, but a private collection - don't touch! Yuppies and hipsters, thumbing little screens while, rolling - yes rolling- luggage down the jetonesque conveyor belt people-mover.
PDX is small, and easy to use. You get in and you get out - bam. But what's with all the bling! Can't we go visit Grandma without Columbia Sportswear? Jeez! If America didn't have such a pathetic rail system, I'd use Union Station instead. -

I love PDX. The airport is clean, most of the workers and TSA agents are friendly, and there are decent food choices.
It doesn't get the full five stars because, while it has some food choices, it still feels like it is lacking depending on the terminal.
Parking is nice and the covered terminal roadways are awesome on those rainy days. -

I love going to the PDX for a flight. For those who are like me, have anxiety about missing their flight, you will really appreciate the great service of the employees who work there. I always get there super early, and PDX has great shops to places to eat. My favorite part is the Powell's books located inside, for those times when I need something to read on a flight. I was never bored at this airport, which is very unusual! So lucky to live in a place where I can fly from a great airport like Portland International Airport!

I've never said this about an airport before, but I love PDX.
The airport always feels welcoming to me. I can get a good coffee here, and there's free wifi. There are always benches to sit on near my gate, the bathrooms and carpets are remarkably clean for such a busy place, and I've never seen a bug in the place. (That's a record for an airport.)
There are healthy food options and multiple locations of Powell's bookstore, too. Parking is always easy and convenient. People at security have always been friendly, and I've never had to wait too long.
All in all, my favorite airport. -

By far Portland has got to be one of my most favorite airports to fly out of (believe it our not I am a huge fan of SFO). Anyways there is a bit of walking to be done at this airport, but really what else is to be expected; your in an airport. PDX is very clean and carpeted in most areas. They have pretty decent food options as well and everyone (including TSA) were very friendly. I would not mind flowing out of here again.

Portland, OR
PDX is a smaller airport, but it is one of the best airports in the U.S. With Seattle just a short flight away, PDX doesn't have a ton of non-stop flights, but they have done a great job making the flying experience top notch.
Likes:
Non-stop flights to The Netherlands, Japan, Hawaii, New York, Boston, Philly and DC
Regular shuttle flights to Seattle
Non-stop flights to most West Coast locations
Two security gates linked inside the airport, so you can use either one
Wide, clean concourses
Clean bathrooms
More local Portland restaurants than national chains
Free WiFi (why don't more airports do this?)
Ample short-term and long-term parking
Courteous shuttle bus drivers
Oregon-focused displays and art
Made In Oregon store inside the security gate
An Oregon Wine kiosk inside the security gate
Nike and Powells stores in the main concourse
Dislikes:
Main concourse restaurants are going downhill a bit
Paper towel dispensers are manual and annoying
Loss of the Frankfurt non-stop
When I fly in the morning, I always get there early to have breakfast at Capers Cafe inside the A-B-C Concourse security gate.
Good work, PDX. Maybe it's time to improve the food in the main concourse and get the bathrooms to the 21st Century. Otherwise, keep it up! -
Review from Jesus A.
I have dropped people off here, picked people up I know, and fly in and out from here. I've never had a bad experience.
The place has many cool shops and delicious restaurants here. It is expensive shoping while at the airport, I tend to get what I need before the visit.
The airport is understaffed and at time causes long waits. -
Review from Daniel T.
PDX I love you, after much traveling around the US I have to say you seem to be the cleanest and I love the design of the terminals because even at its most crowded I feel there is plenty of room to navigate.
Keep up the great work and I will resist the non-existant urge to fly out of Eugene. -
Review from Kayla W.
Best airport for a layover for sure and best one I have been to thus far. I love this airport. It is easy to get into and get out of though the traffic at Pick-up can get a bit congested.
Within the airport you have a huge seating area at Starbucks, a spa that I will be trying one day when I have time called Dragon Tree Spa, and some really great restaurants and bar and grills and it is all post-security. As always there are little shops to search for little goodies and I enjoy finding the perfect gift for me or something else.
I like PDX and though I have not layover yet, only flew in and out of, I would not dread one if it was here! -

The abundance of shopping and dining at PDX makes up for the long, slow-moving lines at security and baggage check. Also, Alaska Airlines has a "Board Room" here, which is a great place to sit and unwind before a flight.
Hate the weather when I'm flying in, but love it when I'm flying out! -
Review from Shy A.
I have to give it to PDX. I was a bit skeptical when I pulled up early in the morning and saw hordes of people. Knowing my flight was less than an hour til take off, I was almost in a minor panic thinking I would miss my flight. TSA director was at the end of the security line and seeing my minute panic attack suggested that I head to the other security point where he said it moved much faster. He assured me that line moved in less than ten minutes. SCORE! He saved my life! I was able to move in and out of security in no time and had a few minutes to grab a tea before my flight. FANTASTIC! The airport is clean, the folks are friendly and there was a good selection of food/shopping options. Really liked the service areas which has tons of electrical outlets-a lifesaver if you're a constant traveler and forget to charge your phone like me!
I haven't flown into Portland too often in the past, I usually took the drive from Seattle but after my visit and meeting such great people, I suspect I'll be flying into this great airport more often! -
Review from Julia W.
I flew through Portland recently to try to hit Gold with Delta (hooray for short connections for miles!)
The one thing that I did like about the airport is the free wifi although most airports now offer that.
The layout of the concourse itself was a bit confusing as there were several restaurants (sit down, etc) which were inaccessible as they were 'pre-security'.
My home airport (Seattle) doesn't really offer much to eat pre-security as they figure most are going to eat post-security.
It limited some food options that we wanted to try out based on Yelp folks as I wasn't willing to re-enter security again if I didn't have to.
Clean airport and lots of outlets everywhere for those with a longer layover. -

The airport in general is a great airport, easy to get to the terminals! Security can sometimes be a mess. Mainly due to the poor organization in TSA!

Definitely a 4 star airport compared to LAX (which is a 1 star crap airport). Everyone is very friendly, not too crowded. There are also a lot of shops and restaurants. Plenty of things to do if you are stuck at the airport for a while. Very clean.
TIPS:
-COFFEE PEOPLE! This local coffee place (called Coffee People) is only available inside PDX and nowhere else. I don't care if you're a starbucks loyal you need to try this place out. YOU MUST TRY THEIR MEXICAN HOT CHOCOLATE. Sooo amazing.Listed in: Portland OR MUSTS

Smallish airport.
Got the job done from a arrival and departure standpoint.
Only had two security "portal" gates open when I was flying home.

It's pretty incredible when an airport has over 400 reviews and a 4.5 star rating. I'd stack PDX up against any other airport in the US.
+ Free WiFi
+ Lots of plugs
+ Many "Service Areas" that contain work kiosks - free
+ Huge number of food and dining options - not only in the main concourse, but in each of the individual gate areas (A, B, C, D...)
+ Clean and easy to get to
+ On-Airport car rental
+ Nice people
+ They have local musicians playing in the concouses
+ Art throughout
Well done PDX! -
Review from David R.
Portland, OR
As airports go, PDX is a good place to spend time as one passes through it.
Pros:
- decent local food options pre-security, including Elephants, Coffee People, Sandovals (meh), and Vancouver mainstay Beaches; (sadly, Pizzacota left)
- decent local food post-security, including Rose's, Laurelhurst Brewpubs, Good Dog Sausage, and Coffee People;
- decent shopping on both sides of security -- again with a good local flavor (Powell's Books, Nike, Mother Goose), including the ability to buy regional wines after passing through security;
- free wireless;
Con: the main con for PDX is that it's security lines don't have a separate pass-through for airline staff, so if you're unlucky it's possible to get into a security line and have waves of flight crew come through and cut ahead of you. I completely respect their need for quick access, but if one is running close on one's own flight times, this is an unnecessary aggravation. PDX is the only major airport I've seen that doesn't have separate crew lanes. -

If you love LAX, you will hate PDX. It's very chill, just like Portland (and characteristic of Oregon in general). We arrived on a weekday evening and departed on a weekend morning and both experiences were perfectly decent. Security lines were efficient and alleviated my anxiety (traveling/flying with the baby for the first time!). It was a little maze-y coming in but with sufficient signage all throughout to navigate to baggage claim & rental cars easily. And bonus (if you know me, you'll know it's mas importante), it is very CLEAN/well maintained. Nice work, PDX.

I have flown in quite a few airports and am currently yelping from PDX on my first experience here. Security was super easy and efficient, everyone has been very friendly. Their wifi is fantastic- ridiculously fast! The airport is very well organized, easy to navigate, clean, and I would happily fly out of here or take a flight with a layover here again. If you have your choice of PDX or another airport- I'd go with PDX.

I can see why PDX has such high yelp rating. I think the airport is really nice and has friendly staff. The security gates lines can get really long sometimes but they try to move everyone quickly. I love how its decorated on the outside with plants growing up the building - makes it unique.

Arrived here for a flight connection to SeaTac. I saw that PDX was voted as one of the best airports in the US and I can see why. It was a very clean airport and I loved their placements of cafes close to the gates. I had a Starbucks right next to my gate so I was quite happy. Simple amenities such as outlets to charge your phone are plentiful as well.

It's no wonder they were voted one of the 10 best Airports in America. I can't really think of a better place that I've flown out of or into in quite some time.
The highlights...
-Quick security lines
-Lot's of restaurant options in terminals
- Fast free wireless
-Flawlessly clean terminals
-Live musicians near many of the gates
-Very accessible drop off at departures
-Friendly employees all around
Portland's awesome all together, but I'd schedule a layover just to hang out here.Listed in: Portlandia

Beaverton, OR
I love traveling through PDX. The security's smooth, even when there are longer lines (holiday season). It's the only airport where I'm comfortable arriving an hour before my flight. With bigger airports, like LAX, I always have to brace for impact... the crowds, people who seem like they've never traveled before, and the crowds! I especially dig the economy parking, the rates seem reasonable, and the shuttles run consistently and thoroughly. All that to say, it's one of the few places I like traveling through. The bummer is knowing I'm gonna have to return through a crappier one.

PDX, I fucking love you. No other airport in the continental U.S. does you justice.
Really, i'm not just flashin' hometown pride here. This airport cannot be beat, in so many ways,
-Awesome food selections on the concourse.
'
-Great little snapshot of what Portland, Oregon has to provide as a city.
-IMPECCABLY CLEAN. I cannot emphasize how important and awesome this is. Probably the most squeaky-clean airport you'll come across in the country.
-Fast security.
-Hot men that pick up your bar tab at Gustav's without you even knowing it. Wait....what?
Anyways. PDX is awesome and traveler-friendly, and if you're on a layover in PDX, you couldn't ask for a better airport to kill time in. -

For an airport it is pretty good. For an airport.
Stanfords, Elephants, and some other nice restaurants improve the noshing aspect of your travels so that is good. Security is usually pretty friendly and whatnot so no complaints there. -

Probably not really "As good as it gets!" (since I have been to, at least 4 best airports in the world) but I'm going to give 5-Stars for being clean, nice, well organized & not too CRAZY!!!
I mean, I'm from L.A. Anything is better than LAX!!! -

Pretty good as far as airports go. Not so small that you can't take your pick of airlines, not so big that it takes for-freaking-ever to get from one gate to another. Security's relatively fast to go through, and there are plenty of choices when it comes to food and coffee. The whole place is very clean.

First off. FREE WIFI. I travel all over and most airports charge for this (which I think is stupid in this day and age). Either way, I will say it again...FREE WIFI! And it is the good Wifi, not the throttled down kind I have come across.
This airport is clean and easy to get in and out of. Top level is for departures and lower is arrivals. The ABC checkpoint is on the north side of the airport and the remaining gates are on the south side. The food court has a nice selection of food options and you can take it through security with the exception of anything liquid. Also, the MAX red line is right here at the airport. Getting here on public transportation is easy and usually pretty fast (trains run very frequently).
This sums up PDX. Not a long review but a brief one. PDX has been rated top airport in the country numerous times and when you visit here you will know why. -

A starbucks, cafe tables, and a spot for me to do my torts homework. More than I could ever ask of in an airport, and more than LAX could ever be!! -

This is a much better airport than O'Hare airport....for many reasons, but I'll list the top 3 for me:
1.) free wi-fi.....take that ORD.
2.) they actually have a zillion outlets to plug in laptops, cell phones, etc. ORD you suck at that too...i would be lucky if I was able to grab one with everyone else around.
3.) Airport is pretty easy to navigate and FRIENDLY staff. -

Quick check-in. Fast security. Really clean.
FREE WIFI
There must be someone in Portland's water because all the workers at the airport are friendly and courteous. Just a really pleasant medium sized airport. The MAX also provided easy access to the city if you don't need a rental car (which you don't if you are staying around town because the MAX is awesome). -
Review from Crystal H.
I spend too much time in airports. Enough time that I've begun to appreciate the details, almost obsessively.
So this review is all about PDX's restroom stalls (or in the Canadian language: washroom or bathroom).
I travel light - one two-wheeler carry on rolling suitcase and a Timbuk2 messenger bag. And I've had a bone to pick about how difficult it generally is to maneuver these two items airport into and out of a bathroom stall. First, there's the in-swinging door, the balancing act of avoiding the toilet while contorting a 2-wheeler this way and that in a tighter than necessary space, and finally giving up in a frustrating grunt when one item or the other graises the toilet... public toilets at the airport are usually the worst! Or, I feel like the worst when I give up completely and use the handicap stall just for the extra space. This is not the kind of person I want to be.
But at PDX, I don't have to be that inconsiderate person. There's just enough extra room between the toilet and the door and between the door and the wall that allows for one easy turn, a glide really. Suitcase in, turn, close door, lock. Do business and reverse process. Seamless. Easy. Someone who travels decided on the measurements here. I guarantee it!
Yes, when I discovered that PDX has the best bathroom stall, I did my happy dance, and there was enough room for me to do that too!
*Additional stars and props for decent priced beer, free wi-fi and public transit.Listed in: Portlandia, Yelping in the USA

Sweet Home, OR
This has to be one of the best airports to get around in. Although I must admit that there could be more TSA agents to get people through the line a little faster when it is a non-busy travel time.
The free WIFI for the entire airport is one of the nicesest things. Many charge for this, however Portland provides it for free. There are some International flights from here, but the majors for the NW such as Alaska and Southwest are here.
Now that the screening has been removed from the front of the terminal it now has a much more spacious feel than it did in the past. Economy parking is just a shuttle ride away, and the rental car pickup and return is right at the airport. All in all, one of the better places that I have ever traveled from or to. -
Review from Jessica K.
Portland, OR
Call me biased, but I love our airport. It's the only airport where I feel calm while traveling. Maybe it's that soothing green carpet, lack of incessant announcements over the loudspeaker, easy to navigate space, fun art exhibits, or the multitude of places to imbibe. I'm pretty sure it's not the free Wi-Fi or eco-toilets, but I like those too. If I can't convince someone to brave the insane traffic to drop me off, I can take the Max here or park in the economy lot and take a shuttle in. Once in, I go through security on the D/E terminal side because the line is always shorter.
It also seems like the gifts here are a little less tacky than other airports. Great place to find gifts for your host once you are past security, you can pick up Moonstruck chocolates, Portland paraphanelia (we got a "Put a Bird on it" t-shirt for a friend when it was still funny), Oregon wine, or Ninkasi or Rogue beer at the Made in Oregon store. Some local finds at Powell's in C Terminal too. Laurelwood also sells bottles and brewery swag.
This is probably the best airport to have a delayed flight, I recommend visiting Powell's and then participating in a choose your own adventure pub crawl challenge. One of my favorites:
Find both Laurelwood brewing locations on opposite ends of the airport. Be sure to hit Rogue and Gustav's in between. Gustav's has this crazy deal where if you buy the large beer you get a shot for $1. Yeah, I know. This is only recommended for long delays, btw as I have seen drunkards denied boarding. No, not me silly. I rarely get delayed here. Just another reason why PDX rules!
Happy travels! -

Still the best airport I've ever been to. It's never packed, they have signs everywhere, the security line goes really fast, and best yet... they are very techy-friendly!!
Even though I am a half-hour closer (by mileage) to Sea Tac, I would MUCH rather make the scenic drive to PDX than sit in the horrendous traffic in Seattle!!!
YOU ROCK PDX!!
