For my first night in Portland, my friend brought me here to meet up with the rest of her friends. As all the other reviews have mentioned, this spot does have an incredible view of the city. We arrived in time to nab the happy hour specials which are really great.

I ordered the California roll for a few bucks ($3-$4) and had a blood orange mojito. Both were really good. Although the place was packed, that didn't stop the service from still being attentive, which was a major plus. Nice decor inside with a chic atmosphere.

Definitely impressed with this place and would love to go back during my next PDX visit to try out the food that other reviewers seem to rave about.

I get it, you've got great apps.  And I also understand there is a tremendous view, but in the words of Dwight Jaynes, our favorite sports columnist (and no, the bald one will never replace the Godfather)  "Come on, i mean geeeze."

You are a restaurant.  Make awesome food.  I will love you for it.  But if you just rest on the fact that you have the best view in town, a slick bar, and a piano, I'll be a little disappointed.  I have had more than enough dinners as well as happy hours to feel like this place gets everything 50% right.  But why not put in the extra effort and get all the way there.  I know you can do it.  Just go out and hire a good chef, give him the opportunity to mix it up a little.  Yes, some of the corporate clients might be scared at first, but they will come around.  Look at 1001.  Look at Bluehour. They have all made it work.

Good is the greatest enemy of great.  That doesn't mean you can't do it.  But give it a try.  Make it happen.

Portland City Grill offers the best view of Portland and a fantastic happy hour which I am sure is hard to beat. The menu selection was fairly extensive and the drink menu complements it well.

The drinks were poured and made well and I have to say...they made one of the best martini's I have EVER had.

The staff are fairly attentive and considering how busy it was when we went, very good and responsive.

Great ambiance, good food and drinks+good friends =great happy hour and restaurant in my book!

I was brought here for my birthday and this was my first time at Portland City Grill.

Of course, I was suitably impressed with the sweeping view of downtown and points all the way east to Mount Hood.  JP set dinner reservations for 6:00pm so we could see the view during daylight and also see the city lights after it got dark.

It was cool that they had sprinkled these little "Happy Birthday" colored and shiny things on our table.

It was a bustling atmosphere in the restaurant.  This looks like a good place for large groups.

For an appetizer I ordered the soup of the day (potato soup).  It came with a little bit of shaved white cheese, tomato and bacon bits.  It was satiny smooth.  While its flavor  was good, it was very low-key.  JP had the cioppino which he liked.

For dinner, I ordered the New York strip steak topped with crab meat in a Béarnaise  sauce.  Guess the price.  It was $62!  Good God, but this slab of beef was huge, absolutely mammoth in proportions.  I kid you not, but my steak was at least 2" thick!   I was only able to eat about a quarter of it because it was so big!

The steak was cooked properly and tasted fine but I don't think the crab with Béarnaise sauce worked so well.  The tarragon in it was pretty strong so I didn't love the sauce so much.  And, unfortunately, the Béarnaise sauce blended with the juices from the steak creating this "cream" on my plate that looked (and somewhat) tasted like Campbell's tomato sauce.  The mashed potatoes were fine and so was the asparagus.

JP had the Five-Spice Peking Duck and Steamed Buns.  The duck was quite good with distinctive and robust flavor.

Because it was my birthday they comped me a bread pudding (with a lit candle) for dessert.  It came with whipped cream and was very rich and delicious.

Portland City Grill has the BEST view in all of Portland!

PCG's Happy Hour is probably the most amazing I've ever seen, anywhere. The food and drink menus and fantastic! The service is great, considering the amount of people that get "stuffed" into the lounge area.

All I can say is, what happened to the "Pink Moment" martini? That was hands-down my favorite and its gone!

This place is a must if your visiting Portland. This place was awesome.

On the 42nd floor you have a 360 degree view of the entire city.

Live musician playing the piano.

Defintely go for Happy Hour which starts at 4:30 pm. Me and my friend ate and had drinks for under $25.  Small plates of food where as little as 2$ -  6$.

Friendly staff serving up some friendly service.

Nice panoramic view of Portland and good food. I love their Mango Mojito and the sushi was really delicious. The wasabi they were serving with the sushi was just perfect.

It can be crowded so you may want to go there early to reserve a table or spot. But still worth the wait to see Portland from the 30th floor.

For that "top of the world" experience, you cannot beat the food and views at the Portland City Grill.  Whether you are seeking a romantic dinner, a business-appropriate meeting spot, or a location for a private party - the PCG can accommodate you.

I ate there many years ago on a business trip, and recently for my brother's wedding rehearsal dinner.  For our group dinner of about 50 people, we had a private room where they served mixed appetizers, and a wonderfully orchestrated sit-down meal.  My halibut main course was delicious, and everyone around me raved about their meals.

Overall, the service was good and they got everything to everyone in sync, which is no easy feat.  However, I will say that one of the servers for our table was a bit abrupt and gruff - which was shocking, since everyone else was extremely nice and professional.

Get there before sundown and get a window seat if you can - and enjoy the landscape and light of this lovely city as you dine - a truly memorable experience.

So I can't quite afford anything else but the happy hour with my hourly wage, but this place is impressive!  They have quite a large selection on their happy hour and the bar hours are great.  Happy hour is available in early evening then continues again later in the evening.  Check their page for details.

Their food I would rate probably about 4 stars, but they get an extra bump for a few things.  Things such as live pianist, a view of the city to die for, their food presentation is tv-like and they have great service!  I would recommend this happy hour to anyone!  It does not fail to please.  Nuff said.

Happy hour is the way to go here. Located on the 30th floor of the us bank building, NOT THE 42nd. This place has great views and a warm cozy atmosphere. Its always packed for happy hour, so get there early for a table. The service is pretty good and the food comes out fast. I do not recomend this place for dinner. I thought it was a bit overrated.

Not knowing what to expect, we sauntered on in to Portland City Grill late Sunday night. The place was packed to the eaves as Sunday, we discovered, was happy hour all day long. It took some vulturing (hanging around like vultures) to get a table next to the window. The views of Portland are great! The wait however was not! It took an even longer time to get a waitress' attention as they were extremely overworked.

We ended up ordering primarily from the main menu as the entrees looked much better there. It was a good decision as everything we ordered was MOUTH DROOL INDUCING GOOD.

The crab & scallop encrusted alaskan halibut was the best made halibut I've ever had.. and I've had some good ones before!! It was perfectly moist and tender, bursting with flavor.

The braised boneless short ribs with soy glaze also were the best short ribs I've ever had. So freaking tender with perfect flavor!!! I'm totally frothing at the mouth as I type this!!!!!!!!!

drooooooooooool

We came here on a Sunday around 5:30pm for happy hour and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table.  The happy hour menu is awesome!  The dishes range from $2-$6 and they give surprisingly generous portions.  Our party of 4 ordered 6 items + a beer and the bill came out to be only $26...plus we were full!  The ambiance is great since it's located at the top of the building.  If you can get a table by the windows, you get a great view overlooking Portland too!  The best part is that they offer the happy hour menu all day Sunday so you can come here for a very affordable lunch or dinner with great ambiance!

Reviews of what we ordered:
-Classic Romaine Caesar Salad - $2
(a full-size salad for only $2! the lettuce was very fresh also.)
-Crispy Beef & Shrimp Egg Rolls (4 pieces) - $4
(my 2nd favorite dish. crunchy egg rolls with delicious filling.)
-Thai Lemon Grass Beef Tenderloin Satay (3 sticks) - $5
(my favorite!  the beef was SO tender and the marinade was delicious)
-Grilled White Cheddar & Chive Burger - $5
(full-size burger for $5!  tasty burger on a toasted bun.)
-Togarashi Spiced Fire-Fries - $2
(my 3rd favorite. large basket of fries with just the right amount of spice .  these were so good I couldn't stop eating them.)
-California Sushi Roll (6 pieces) - $3
(surprisingly good sushi rolls!  comparable to ones you would order at a Japanese restaurant.  6 rolls for $3 is definitely a very good deal too.)

I'll definitely come back here to try everything else on the happy hour menu!

When I first moved to the Portland, Oregon area my family told me that I should visit the Portland City Grill. Boy were the right. This place was fabulous. It's on the top floor and you can see all of downtown Portland. I've only eaten happy hour there, and what I ate I cannot remember, it was like six years ago, but I remember they had great food and a great selection of alcohol. I sometimes refer to the Portland City Grill as a meat-market but it is fun to go.

I am so happy to say that service, in Portland, is not dead.  Well, not completely.

We chose Portland City Grill to celebrate our first anniversary (early on a Sunday for dinner; no happy hour).  Since we were pretty early (just before five), we had no problem getting a window seat.  Our friendly, enthusiastic waiter was there almost immediately to introduce the menu and wine list and welcome us.  My husband picked out a bottle of wine for us to start, and he returned from the cellar with it and another bottle that hadn't been placed on the list yet.  Similar to what we'd picked, but was one of his personal favorites, if we wanted to try it.  We took the gamble and it paid off- a bright and light Pinot just perfect for summer's curtain call!

We ordered the Dungeoness Crab Cakes and Kung Pao Calamari as appetizers.  Both were excellent, but the Kung Pao Calamari was definitely the most surprising and creative of the two.  A subtly spicy, vibrant sauce lightly tossed with crisp (not dry) calamari and veggies.  My husband didn't care for the crab cakes because they weren't crispy, fried and cakey enough (like a little patty).  I liked the softer version myself, I thought it was more complimentary to the crab.  But hey, if you're a krabby patty fan, you might be disappointed here.

I had the Hunan Rack of Lamb for my entree, which was good but a little heavy on the hoisin-style sauce.  It was very good and well-cooked, but I was hoping for something not quite so heavy on the Asian in Pan-Asian.  Luckily, I was able to snag some bites of my husband's aged Oscar-Style Steak, which was like a gift from some divine bovine goddess watching over us.  Steak was like butter, the sauce was just bright enough to cut it... perfection.

As we were both about to roll out of the place in wheelbarrows, our waiter brought us a complimentary Asian Pear and Fuji Apple Bread Pudding with Caramel Bourbon Sauce for our anniversary, with a little birthday candle glowing at the top.  Dear Media.  Stop coming to Portland to glorify Voodoo Donuts and Come Eat This Now!  I was way too full to move, but it was too good to miss.  The sauce, the fruit, the warm and cool contrasts.  Heaven!!

Our waiter was by frequently to make sure we were happy, and really made us feel special.  He was funny, helpful and genuine, and made this fine dining experience we only pay for on special occasions truly worth it.  Because of him, Portland City Grill is probably going to become a new tradition of ours.

Worst part was the couple that brought a fussy baby.  For god's sake, get a babysitter.  It's one of the only perks of living near a teenager.

I read about this place while passing through Portland and I have to thank my fellow Yelpers for cluing me into a great happy hour.

Indeed, you have to get there early for a window seat. I don't remember when we arrived, but it was immediately clear that a window would be a lost cause and we settled in at the bar. Still, the view was spectacular and the place was hopping. The funny thing was, when we found the building, not a soul was around. We thought it couldn't be the right place because it was so desolate. Then we came upstairs and -- whoa! THIS was where everyone was!

Anyway, on to the experience. There aren't any specials on the drinks, which is a bummer, but the food more than makes up for it. The prices are ridiculously low for the quality, and in some cases, the quantity too. My favorite, by far, was the kung pao calamari, which was to die for.

Also tried the bruschetta, the caesar salad and the california roll. All were pretty good, and the party vibe around us didn't hurt either.

I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially if you are visiting -- what an amazing view of the area, plus great food. Yum!

5 stars for my dinner. It isn't listed on the online menu, must have been a nightly special, so I'm going from memory here, but I believe it was sea bass with scallops and dungeness crab, perfectly cooked and herbed and seasoned. Had the wilted spinach salad with pistachio-crusted chevre to start. Whatever the fish dish was, it was freaking unbelievable. I wanted to lick the plate, and then break the plate into little pieces and eat it too. One of the best things I've ever eaten, and I've eaten all over the world.

3.5 stars, unfortunately, for my companion's dinner. His asparagus soup was lovely and creamy, but his salmon was so-so.  Certainly not bad, but not up to the obvious talents of whomever had made my plate. And sadly for him, I was too busy being enraptured with my own plate to share much with him.

5 stars for the experience over all.  Wonderful servers, albeit in somewhat goofy white Love Boat tuxes, which I must admit I kinda liked, always present but never interfering, offered perfect beer and wine recommendations, kept the drinks and plates full and cleared respectively, and totally unnoticeably. I love the sort of waiters that make you go, "Woah!  How'd my water get full?  And where'd that empty plate go?", and they were absolutely perfect, a wonderful reminder that waiting tables really can be a profession.

And that view!  Absolutely incredible.  Apparently window tables are near-impossible at dinner, but they serve dinner 'til 1 am. If you can stay up late, go at 10 or 11 pm, and the place will be yours.

This is a strictly a review of their Happy Hour Menu

Since we ordered a lot of stuff I decided to break it down as simple as possible

Classic Romaine Caesar Salad: crisp, refreshing, dressing wasn't            overpowering.

Togarashi Spice Fire-Fries: fried to golden perfection, right amount of heat, and the garlic-parmesan aioli was a perfect compliment

New Orleans Spicy Shrimp: served on a nicely toasted bruschetta, perfect for absorbing the scrumptious black pepper shrimp sauce.

Thai Lemon Grass Beef Tenderloin Satay: a wonderful blend of flavors, layered very well, and tender cuts of meat

Dungeness Crab & Bay Shrimp Bruschetta: flavors were delicate, crab flavor was not as prominent, pesto mornay sauce was a nice subtly accent to the dish

Grilled White Cheddar & Chive Burger: wasn't bad, just not worth ordering when there are so many other options

California Sushi Roll: was a-ok, pass on this like the burger and try something else

Overall, a nice variety of dishes, delicious sauces, affordable prices

For the best seat in the house grab a booth near the window. You can look out and see the entire city all around you. At night, its a breathtaking view.

Despite having a horrible waitress that spent most of her time chatting up a drunk guy at the bar, probably looking for a sugar daddy, my experience at City Grill was a positive one.

Along with a few other coworkers, we took a client here for dinner recently, and the experience was good, but jaded by my previous dining experiences at Portland City Grill.

I must admit that happy hour here is really quite good. I have had happy hour at Portland City Grill a few times, and I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered off the happy hour menu...the furukaki crusted ahi, spring rolls, satay, and oyster salad are all excellent.

Anyone can make a decent drink, so what really counts in my opinion is the food, and the happy hour food selections at Portland City Grill are not only unique, but tasty.

The dinners I have had here have been another story, however...

One time I ordered petite filet, and it was good, but had a bit too much grizzle. Just not outstanding, but then again, I can make a good filet a home, so I was expecting a little more..for just under $40 for my entree, no less. The blue cheese mashed taters that came with it were quite good, however.

The second time I ate here with my husband on our third anniversary, I ordered lobster, and it was brought to me mostly raw. I was forced to politely send it back for additional cooking. For over $75 for this entree, I felt that it should have been cooked correctly from the start. Even I can cook shellfish at home properly. Lobster can be eaten raw like sashimi, but really, if I had wanted lobster sashimi, I would have ordered it as such.

Most recently, I ordered the whole leaf caesar salad, which was outstanding, and the seared dungeness crab cakes for dinner, and both were excellent...with my crab cakes being buttery and meaty and served with the yummy blue cheese taters.

I cannot get the blah petite filet and the undercooked lobster out of my mind, however.

Overall, I feel that Portland City Grill is good for happy hour, but questionable for some dinner selections, except for the Caesar Salad and crab cakes, which were winners.

The beautiful view of downtown and excellent service are also an added plus, but just make sure that if you order lobster, it is thoroughly cooked....unless you don't mind lobster sashimi.

5 stars - The 30th floor space offers up amazing 360 views of all of Portland (and beyond).  This is definitely a place any out-of-towner positively MUST check out.

4 stars - Happy Hour food specials.  Where else in town can you get a hefty sized while cheddar good quality burger for 5 bucks, accompanied by fabulously seasoned shoe-string garlic-parmesan fries for a measly 2 bucks?

4 stars - Creative appetizers.  People were jealous when they saw my Papaya, Cucumber and Avocado stack ($3 HH) arrive.  More than just a beautiful work of art, it was oh so refreshing and delicious.  Ditto on the New Orleans spicy shrimp ($5 HH), basted in a Worcestershire and black pepper sauce.

3 stars - Service.  They try.  But there are not enough servers for such a popular happy hour.

3 stars - Martinis.  There are some creative and interesting martinis on the menu to be sure, such as the one garnished with a slice of pepperoni and three blue cheese olives ($12.50).  My pomegranate martini ($10) was good.  Yes they are on the pricey side but they come with the view, so buck up, look outside and it will all feel better.

2 stars - Diet Coke.  Three dollars for a 10 oz. Diet Coke that's half ice?!  I know what I said just above, but come on...

I really don't understand all of the hype. I've heard nothing but great things about this place, particularly their happy hour. Well I am just unimpressed. Yeah, the view is great, but that's about it.

If you actually want to eat at happy hour, you have to be prepared to fight for somewhere to sit. Once you do sit down, don't expect to relax, you'll have to endure people hovering over you while you eat just waiting for you to leave. It's insane, and in my opinion, not even worth it.

The food? Nothing special. Their menu doesn't really have much focus, so I don't think there's one thing that they're really great at. They're just ok at a lot of stuff.

The service? Fine, but what is with the servers' outfits? They're ridiculous. Straight out of a fine dining establishment...from 1989. Though, it does make me feel like I'm possibly in the movie Pretty Women. Not the hooker part, but the fancy restaurant and abundance of shoulder pads. I even saw a couple all fancied up. The man was wearing a tuxedo. And together, they too looked like they were straight out of 1989. They then proceeded to hover over people eating and beg to let them squeeze themselves into their already full tables.

What else can I say? Meh. I've experienced better.

If you want a great view of downtown Portland, this is the place.  Come at night, the street lights really makes it magical. The best time to go is during HH.  The price is comparable to the food.  It's a definite bang for your bucks for both the view and food.

This recommendation is for the bar side only, the restaurant side is a little over priced and the food is good, but not out of this world.

The service is extremely helpful and they really work themselves to death for the number of people they service.

What a great view of Portland! I went up to the Portland City Grill on the 30th floor after a fun night at Ground Kontrol. The bar was packed for the happy hour special, I took a peak at the menu and it all sounded good. Since the bar was packed a few of us sat down at a table and ordered three of their  desserts. The desserts were good but nothing too amazing, especially the cheesecake, I have had better.

Since the food is on the expensive side come for the happy hour menu and enjoy the view.

Crazy good happy hour!  I wish that I didn't have dinner plans so that I could have eaten something.  Coming from San Francisco, I was blown away at the prices.  Everything was so cheap on the happy hour menu.  I mean, unbelievably cheap, and with no sales tax.

We got there just after 4:30 and all of the booths were taken so get there early.  The drink prices are reasonable, I think that I had a $5 Heineken.  If you are visiting Portland like I was it's a great place to get the lay of the land as well.  You could get a drink and an appetizer and leave a good tip and spend $10 or less.  CRAZY...

Ambiance - 360 degree view of the city.  Located on the 30th floor.  Dark and dimly lit.

Parking - Garage.  Parking is validated.

Reservations - HIGHLY recommended.  The place was packed at 9 on Saturday night when we came in for our reservations and still packed at 11 pm when we left.  You would never have known that we were in a recession.  Even the bar was stand only room.

Service - Outstanding.  Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable.  Gave great recommendations.

Food -
1. Five-Spice Peking Duck & Steamed Buns- Five buns and one duck thigh, accompanied by julienne green onions and a hoisin/terriyaki sauce.  The sauce was not overly sweet.  Duck was really moist and the green onions provided a bite to the sweetness of the sauce and bun.
2. Wilted Spinach Salad with Pistachio Crusted Chèvre- Who can say no to chevere and carmelized walnuts on spinach?
3. Sake Salmon Sushi - Very fresh.  I love when restaurants bring out the salmon ice cold.
4. Petite Filet Mignon Oscar Style with Béarnaise Sauce - Way too rich for me.  The filet was salted well but the sauce overpowered the filet.  Huge chunks of fresh crab.   Asparagus were overcooked and soft.
5. Crab & Scallop Crusted Alaskan Halibut- Perfectly cooked and moist.  Thick cut of halibut topped with a healthy serving of crab and then thin slices of scallop.  The presentation was so pretty that I felt bad cutting into it.  Sushi rice wasn't overly sweet and I loved the crunchy bok choy.
6. Soter Pinot Noir, 2007- I have never liked pinot noir until now.  My friend raved about Oregon pinots and was surprised to find this one on the menu. Very well rounded and great with food or alone.
7. Port and Coffee - Good coffee
8. Panna Cotta - Thicker consistency than I like it to be but very good.  Vanilla specks, pears/blueberry and a honey crisp provided texture and broke up the richness of the dessert.

I dined in the restaurant once, and the only thing I remember was that it was too expensive- not a memorable experience.
On the other hand, I have been to the bar portion many, many times and cannot get enough of it.
Best happy hour cuisine in town.
Amazing food, great prices.
Slow service but the staff is pleasant, and hey, they are super busy.
Best views in town.
Parking is validated, so don't kill yourself looking for street parking, pull into the garage and don't worry about it.

Look. The dinner price in incredibly ridiculous on the cost scale- but for a reason. Granted there was a bit of hesitation on my end for ordering a $30 meal (tip steak with potato) knowing I could cook the same for less than $8. But, then again I can't overlook the city and sip on sparkling "apéro" whilst enjoying life.

The service is superb, any questions asked immediately. This is the second time I've eaten dinner here, both times were.. well... a treat from a friend.

In all honesty though, I follow the masses in this review log... happy hour. The hamburger comes sans fries, but with glory. $5 will get you a good sized burger with cheese.

Drinks are still pricy ($8 for a cocktail) but if you must splurge go for the Mojito. Or the Long Island, you get drunk for the price.

Their happy hour runs:
Monday-Thursday: 4:30pm-6:30pm, 10:00pm-Close
Friday-Saturday: 4:30pm-6:30pm
Sunday: 4:00pm-11:30pm

It's a good thing to note down, because the lounge offers the same beautiful view in comfortable seating. Do it! Act rich but pay cheap, it's a great place to bring a date you're trying to impress.

I love their weekday happy hour (I think it's 9pm - 12am)~ it's not too crowded - unlike weekends- and you can always get a seat.
Of course, they are known for their view... check out the 100 other reviews to read more about it.

I only get one thing... tombo tuna! so good! Must try.

I was visiting a friend in Portland and she took us here for dinner. 30 floors up, we were seated near the window which had fabulous views of the sun setting on downtown Portland.

The ladies enjoyed and shared a good Pinot noir and kung pao calamari which suprisingly went well together. For dinner, I had the coconut crusted mahi mahi which was delish! The sauce that came with it was so good. The other ladies seem to have enjoyed their meal except our hostess, she ordered the veggie stack which she thought was "bland". Our server was great about it and told the manager, who insisted that she order a dessert on the house. The dessert we ended up sharing was a 3 sorbet sampler: coconut, raspberry, & blackberry--the coconut was the best.

Great meal with great friends--there was nothing more we could ask for after a day of traveling and sight-seeing on our first night in Portland. Why only 4 stars? Although it was a great meal, a meal must make me feel like it's "life-altering" in order for me to rate it higher. Sadly, I'm weird that way....

Good food!
Good Service!
Great View!

My friends and I came in for lunch here.
I had the Sweet Corn Succotash Risotto, which was delicious!
My mocha was a little on the small side tho.
I need to try their happy hour!

Damn the economy for putting waitstaff in an awkward position.

I came here for Happy Hour (with the vendor footing the bill). My boss and I got there before the vendor, so we decided to order drinks. The waitress had to take my card and "hold" the table.

Wait, WHAT?! After further questioning, she told me she was not going to run it, but needed to link a card to the table. Again, What?!

PCG has had so many dine and dashes that the waitstaff is now having to grab a card even before you place the napkin in your lap. Know why? If someone dines and dashes, and they didn't grab a card, the bill is on the waitperson. Which sucks for them--making it awkward at a normally higher-end establishment.

Now that I have ranted my rant...

The service was good--even for Happy Hour. The food was excellent and we were able to order multiple dishes and share, so we got to try just about everything on the menu.

I guess I'll have to come back for that white cheddar burger...mmmm...

Happy hour ALL DAY on Sunday. One star right off the bat. The snacks at the bar were good and the drinks were awesome. Then on to dinner and the petite fillet was one of the best I've had at a restaurant. Bleu cheese potatoes, kung pao chicken for the table - all fantastic.

The service was phenomenal. We were a rowdy group and we were oblivious to the fact that we were the LAST table there 90 minutes after close. No one said a word to us about it until we noticed and asked. Huge kudos for having the class to just roll with it.

this place was great for a few reason:
- the view! although you'll have to make reservations in advance to sit by the window b/c its almost always taken
- the ambiance of this place was nice. a bit dark but not too much. very good service.
- they had this REALLY COOL wine air distiller! i wish i knew about it when we got our bottle of wine! it probably costs a bit more to use it.

but the food was just okay.
- i ordered the shellfish risotto, which was really really good. came with a really small piece of crab, a couple shrimp, four mussels, and a couple scallops. would def order this again.
- my friend ordered their halibut special... definitely not worth it. it was very dry and tasteless...
- my other friend ordered the top sirloin and said it was pretty good as well.
- and the food took a bit long to come out too

-----

came back the other night for happy hour and like everyone else said, this is definitely worth it. i dont think i would come back for dinner but the happy hour is great! plus on sunday, it's all day. the drinks are about $10 and the food is about $5. the AHI TUNA dish was delicious!!!! mouth watering if youre adventurous. my #1 must have there. the fries were good as well with a good dipping sauce. fyi, its better than your normal mcd's or steak fries. the calamari wasn't what i expected. i thought it was going to be fried but it came cooked in an asian style. good still.
definitely worth a visit at least once in portland. and really affordable for such a nice view.

This review is for the lounge only.   I haven't had the pleasure of dining in the restaurant, but have been to the lounge for a few drinks.

All of the businesses in the lobby of the building are closed in the evening, but the revolving door is open.  Just go inside and head for the elevators up to the 30th floor.  The sweeping views from this 30th floor restaurant and lounge are superb!  I don't know what attire is expected in the dining room, but casual clothes served us fine in the lounge.

Drinks are between $8 - $10 but are pretty good.  Service was pretty fast and friendly.

Great spot for drinks and appertizers at Happy Hour!

BAR:  million $$$ view!  The lounge is tastefully furbished - avoid the crowds by avoiding Happy Hour.  Divert your eyes from the buxom, micro-skirted Gen Y'er and focus on snagging a window seat.  Once there, buckle yourself in for a pleasant evening.  No restroom or bar visits, the table you just stole from someone else will be another's conquest.

Great place to bring out of towner's!

My husband and I took a first anniversary trip to Portland.  On the recommendation of some friends, we hit the Portland City Grill for a happy hour dinner.  Our friends suggested it for it's view of the city and we were not disappointed!

Portland City Grill is on the 30th floor and has some of the best views of the city. They also have a huge variety of tasty appetizers which are extremely reasonable during their happy hour (though not as inexpensive as some of the other Portland area happy hours we checked out.)  If you visit during happy hour you might have to play musical chairs to snag a seat, but the views are worth the wait and the prowl and lunge skills required.
