Established in 1951

In 1951, Warren Porter opened a small clothing store in Tahoe City, 100 yards away from Lake Tahoe. When the Olympics came to Squaw Valley in 1930, the Kahn family bought the business and introduced winter snow ski products into the mix. 1982 saw the addition of snowboards - making us one of the older snowboard dealers in the country - as well as the addition of our Truckee store. The "Dam Outlet" and the Incline Village stores came in the next decade.

In 2002, Porters changed hands to the Chapman family. Under the direction of Chappy, the new fearless leader, Porter's has gone thru a transformation. "Whether you're 50 or 15, ski or snowboard, guy or gal, you can finally get it all under one roof - or one website - ours!"
