The franchise chain's "edge against the Goliaths" is their fresh-cut meats and cheeses, so if that's what you're after, check them out.  Another significant edge is their sourdough option, however I've yet to ever get here early enough to partake; by mid-afternoon, the options are only white, wheat, or tortilla wrap.

As a vegan, I'm thoroughly used to seeing sandwich chains have one "vegetarian" option on the menu more expensive than the others with double the cheese, as if the extra cheese is more expensive than the multi-meats it replaces, only to have them skip it (yet still pay for it).  Port of Subs' "Vegetarian" is the same price as any other on the menu (yay), with triple the cheese (yay for those who want it), and can include avocado, another edge against most of the competition.  Trouble is, most of the others have a slightly wider selection of regular vegetables -- green peppers and cukes -- unless they hide them in the back for those who ask.

Medium 8" is a bit more than $5 for less bread options and less veggies than the $5 12" competition across the street.  But it has avocado!  And apparently in the morning, sourdough.

I decided to check out Port of Subs on my lunch break while visiting a client.  The first thing I noticed is that they cut the meat to order which I thought was pretty cool.  I ordered a Turkey, Ham, and Cheddar cheese sub and I sprung for the sourdough bread.  The sub filled me up but the meats didn't taste as fresh as it does when I go to the grocery store and get meat cut.  While I'm still at this client I think I might pop in to give it another try but it seems like a blimpie with a different name to me.

The first time I went there I loved it.  When I first walked in no one was at the counter.  I stood there for a minute before someone came out from the back then I ordered a  turkey sub on sourdough bread with everything on it with chips and a drink.  I was impressed with the Sourdough bread and having the turkey sliced in front of me, the P.O.S Chips were tasty as well.

It was so good that only a few days passed before I wanted another.  So I went back and ordered the same thing only this time they were out of sourdough bread.  So instead I went with the wheat.  Not good.  A few days passed I went back, same thing sorry out of sourdough bread.  This time I walked out.  I went back two days later and again out.  Three times in a row they were out of what I wanted.

To me the bread is the foundation of the sub.  Why they don't supply enough sourdough bread is beyond me since it seems to be the most popular.  The ingredients are great but unless you get there early and order the sourdough, the wheat and white are just average.

I've been visiting this same location for tasty subs since I was a little girl. Despite several changes in owners, products and sand which artists it's always been a delicious treat to bring a few subs home for a poker party or family gathering. The ingredients ARE NOT disgusting like Subway and the sandwiches themselves can actually be held in your hands to eat without said ingredients gushing out onto you. I've always found the meat especially to be good, especially the part where they cut it right in front of you on that awesome machine. Treat yourself to one of those jumbo brownies off the plate and be sure to check out one of MLTH's sports calenders.

Remember: Subway is an insult to good taste.

Every now and then I need a change of pace from Subway. Port of Subs is conveniently located on 220th, and has some pretty tasty sandwiches. This place is fairly average, and nothing really stands out about it as being spectacular. Decents subs, and friendly service.

This is by far my absolute favorite Sub Sandwich Shop!  I like to refer to it as POS. Stating the obvious (Port of Subs)! Ever since I lived in Bellingham I have become addicted to these sandwiches.  They have a perfect Mustard/mayo combo, great cheeses to choose from Smokey Cheddar, Pepperjack, and great vegies and condiments to fill up the inside.  I always ask for extra pepperoncini's and pickles, I guess that is the Mediterranean in me!  I highly recommend this place; I try to make it a weekly experience!
