Great guys here, cannot say enough about the amazing service. Just top notch and awesome guys behind the counter who go the extra mile.
The BBQ is solid, from the pulled pork to the brisket just solid top notch BBQ. Will definitely keep coming back here.
A refreshing business in the snootiness of pretentious hipsterville.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 15010561601Jan 5, 2015
Seriously an amazing sandwich place. And they have super cheap prices compared to the rest of the street it's on. Maybe this is because of their lack of a place to sit and eat? Not sure, but the high table they have out front let us stand and enjoy our sandwiches okay.
I ordered the PBLT. It was beyond delicious. Is there such a thing? This very much rivals Earl's Sandwiches IMHO. The semi-spicy sauce they used really made the sandwich. The meat wasn't really lean by any standards, but the flavor and the way they must have cooked it was oh so good. And we even got a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie along with our sandwiches!
If we're in that area of Venice again, we're going to be back.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 15, 2014
The Belly Up sandwich is certainly one of the better casual uses of pork belly that I've seen in LA. Thick, juicy slices of pork belly are stacked on the bottom bun with sweet barbecue sauce and slaw on top. The combination of the meat with the brioche bun, which was not soggy and the cole slaw, which was made with the right amount of mayo made it a flavorful and hearty sandwich.
With just a couple of adjustments, this sandwich could be a culinary masterpiece. Maybe it's my Memphis roots, but it definitely needed a little more barbecue sauce. And, the sandwich requires more work than I am used to putting in, particularly to dissect out those large pieces of fat.
For $8.95, this is a filling sandwich that even comes with a small chocolate chip cookie wrapped in the packaging for a nice surprise. The place is small so don't expect to eat there but this sandwich shop is definitely worth checking out.Helpful 27Thanks 0Love this 23Oh no 0Business owner information

With regards to seating/eating area - we do have a few tables in the front and a large communal table in the rear - all of which you're welcome and encouraged to stand and enjoy your food. See you soon!

This place is unbelievable! And I just read they will have a truck going mobile on Oct. 1. That's today - woo-hoo!
We split a couple of sandwiches that were amazing. It is impossible to decide which is better. We had the Belly Up. It has 3 super thick slices of pork belly with red coleslaw on a brioche bun. Simple does it every time. The flavor of this was off the charts. Also had the Chop Melt, which was equally insane in its own right - just a different flavor profile. Brisket with homemade bbq sauce that rocked my clock. Damn!
Cute little chocolate chip cookie wrapped inside the paper was a fun and tasty surprise. I saw on their sign that they baked them fresh daily. Uh-oh, says this cookie monster.
I cannot wait to go back here and try more things. The behind the counter service was great. The owner greeted us enthusiastically and was eager to help us. We basically let him decide what to feed us without really looking at the menu. Delish!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Oct 8, 2013
We tried this at AKF (http://www.yelp.com/biz/abbot-kinney-festival-venice-6#hrid:D9PuHb2enapKqPjhY_q-nw) and it was fabulous.

9 sandwiches on the menu, and 5 sides to choose from, Pork Belly's Sandwich Shop has their creations on lock. While nothing was blow your mind out into space amazing, I will say that everything I ate was created exceptionally well and tasted good. From the brioche bun that they use, to the fat and crispy pork belly, to the sloppy joe, I couldn't find fault with what I had ordered. Just good old tasty food!
Cons: This place needs a seating area. A bit expensive.
Pros: Open until 2am, if you are willing to drive there. There aren't many bars around Abbot that I know of. They also have an awesome vending machine that has 20 some selections on a large screen!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 9, 2013
I was wavering between 3.5 stars and 4.5 stars mainly due to the seriously lack of eating space!
I arrived not knowing they were just a takeout place. But that's okay, we ate outside on the tiny slither of a plank of wood they stuck to the side of the building. (see my pics). It was like eating by a food truck. Kinda cool.
I had emailed these guys beforehand to ask about gluten-free options. They replied back in a couple days telling me I can order stuff without buns. But wasn't clear on whether their sauces and meats were gluten free.
So today, I went specifically for their ribs and slop tots (without cheese) and decided to brave it. If I wake up tomorrow all rashed-out, then I know there's gluten in their sauces. But when it comes to pork and ribs and tater tots...I get weak at the knees.
It was worth it. Really good, tender ribs. A bit too much sauce for my taste - they even gave me an extra huge container of sauce which I didn't use at all. The slop tots (sloppy joe on top of tater tots) was the best thing there. I couldn't stop eating that. My nephew got the warm cheese sauce on the side and said it was really good with the cheese. I didn't believe him, I thought mine without the cheese was just fine.
I would totally go back to try out their pork belly and other items.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 3, 2014
My husband and I return for a stroll on Abbott Kinney after church.
Equally good and equally fatty, the pork belly has arrived as the new foie gras, as every trendy restaurant is serving this delicious marriage of meat and fat...none other does it better than Pork Belly Sandwich Shop.
Though the most popular item is The Belly Up. A smoked pork belly sandwich with barbecue sauce and slaw, we opted for the PBLT combo with sweet taters and a Diet Coke.
PBLT is laden with thick slices of perfectly marinated and smoked pork belly, fresh lettuce and meaty tomato slices between sough dough bread. The sandwich is $8.95 and we added some avocados for $0.99.
It's hard to describe the euphoria of taking a bite into this perfectly concocted sandwich. But our faces certainly showed the happiness. This is evident when a passerby saw my husband blissfully enjoying his sandwich, oblivious to the mess he is making around his mouth, and said "I got to get me one of those."
This place has stand only eating space, so gather around the couple of tables and newspaper stand outside, and enjoy.

A fellow Yelper (Joi S.) brought this place to my attention. I didn't know this place was so close to my house. A new fav of mine and in my neighborhood. Soooooo good! Ribs in my future for sure.

Solid, saucy, laid-back. This sandwich stand (with a few picnic tables behind it) smells great passing by and is a nice unassuming, casual alternative to so many of the too-cool-for-school restaurants on Abbot Kinney.
They have a well-rounded selection of traditional-ish BBQ sandwiches, a few with some creative flair. It's so adorable that everyone thinks this spot is so wildly affordable (around $10/sandwich). Okay, yeah, I am not about to wait for my tax refund to eat here but it's certainly not dirt cheap in the realm of simple BBQ sandwiches.
I ordered the "Chop" (brisket, sauce, slaw) because...brisket. It was pretty damn respectable. The soft brioche roll held up well with the copious amount sauce (so often I see brioche rolls failing when tasked with a saucy sandwich or burger). The boyfriend ordered the "Qubano." You will be disappointed if you are expecting a traditional Cuban sandwich, but this was flavorful and a little more palatable in my opinion - the lack of so much sauce made it lighter and less sweet.
They have tater tots (in lieu of fries). Normally that might upset me but the magic qualifying words "cheese sauce" beside it on the menu (for 99 cents extra) made everything better. The thing about tots is they can never be as good as the best fries. Just one woman's opinion - my boyfriend and I still scarfed the nacho-cheese smothered tots and left the naked ones.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
