what a gem. What an awesome co- op store.
I've loved porcelynne boy shorts since i was selling at rag. The most treasured is a black and pink pair that she gave me on my birthday. It shows /// just/// enough ass.
Jennifer is a treasure to the local design community - bridging the gap between mainstream and underground. I would recommend following her in her ventures. Watch out for world domination!
I am two for two at this spot.
Two times visited, two gift needs checked off the list. Both gifts were winners in the eyes of the recipients.
Gift one: A "Just because the Hyphy Wifey is awesome," gift of a "charm"ing necklace made up of salvaged pieces of old necklaces. Wifey loves it and sports it often. Maybe you have seen it.
Gift two: A "Hyphy Wifey is too busy to shop for this f-in bridal shower, and asked for my help," gift of a knit cap and woolen purse. The hues of each complimented each other remarkably and the style of the two items were perfectly in line with the style of the recipient. Major points awarded to the husband for this pick.
There are so many other things there that I wish to purchase. Who needs a gift?
They have cute pantie sets, flowy dresses and skirts, wonderfully silkscreened tops, blazers with intricate embroidered details... great stuff all around.
Great work Porcelynne team!

I'm not a clothes person so I'm just gonna give it 5 stars cuz others like it. Small co-op shop. Cool article in sfgate:

More clothes I can't fit or afford. I saw a dress for a toddler for $58!!

I dress like a hobo.
No cute store with cute stuff in their cute window display is ever gonna cure me of Hoboism. I just am and always will be a fashion DON'T. It's sometimes a challenge walking around town with a big black bar over my eyes to protect my identity...as the fashion impaired.
But I loved this store, and I am going to pray to the Designer Fairy to make me more of a Cinderella and less of a Shrek. I desperately want to look adorable in these clothes.
They're so unique and creative, I can't imagine actually walking around in them and not being looked upon as a sort of sad ol' wannabe hipster bag lady.
I've quickly slipped past the age of being able to appear ironic in concert t-shirts and driven head-on into creepy, trying-too-hard-to-look-young, oldster territory.
So, my precious Porcelynne...perhaps in my next life, I will come back as a heroin chic, 80 pound waif who will use my $120,000 a year IT job to rent a room in a dingy warehouse in the Mission proper...and then I'll come back to buy my entire wardrobe at your fabulously chic lil' store. Until then, happy trails!

This place is absolutely adorable in such a great way. Not overly cutesy, not overly hipster, not mean, not pretentious, not expensive, full of unique awesomeness that bitches on the street will covet and try to mark on. Bitches.
The underwear are so cool that even boys you're doing it with will notice them and be all, "SLAMMIN' PANTIES, GIRL!"*. Then the underoos will disappear from your house and you'll find them in the dude's dirty laundry and be totally grossed out and never want to see him again because he is either 1) wearing your underwear WITHOUT ASKING or b) jerking it into your underwear WITHOUT ASKING. It's the not asking part that bothers me the most. Well, that and the wanking it into my beloved skivvies. Ugh, men are so DISGUSTING.
Speaking of crotchless pantaloons, this is repulsive: http://shop.christiand...
Seriously, Christian people are the most fucked up people on earth. I mean, besides Star Jones, Ku Klux Klanners and that kitten who looks like Hitler. That kitten is terrifying.
*SLAMMIN' PANTIES, GIRL! = LET'S FUCK! (assuming he's not a homo. which is never a sure bet.)

I think this shop is brilliant!
A collective a local designers who it would be too expensive to have their own stores, come together and offer their wares. My favorite was the jewelry. It was beautiful and quite reasonably priced. Now I am not say cheap. I am saying reasonable, because while the things I liked were in the $60-$100 range and were well worth it. Anywhere else I think you would pay twice for the quality.
Additionally, the clothes were ultra-hip, adorable purses and lingerie.
these are local designers that are easy to support!

UPDATE:
Though Porcelynne has closed, Helene's great Culture Consumer gear can now be found at:
The Mission Statement
3458-A 18th St (between Mission and Valencia)
HRS: noon -7pm daily
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
This spot is the real deal for gorgeous girlthings that you can not get anywhere else since they're all local designs from local designers. If you're lucky, Helene, one of my favorite people in the whole world, will be tending the store. Check out her label, Culture Consumer, and feast your eyes on her beautiful, screen-printed clingy knit-things.

Such a lovely shop! It makes me wish I weren't a poor graduate student....but I treated myself to a cute tank top/undies set for my birthday. And I am thisclose to heading back for a necklace that I hope (fingers crossed) is still there. It will be a stop for Christmas and birthday shopping as well, I think. For such beautiful things, it is worth it...and I think the (very sweet and helpful) man at the counter said they are all by local artists? How great is that??? Eventually I won't be a poor graduate student, but a well-to-do doctor, so really, I should be buying things from places like this, even if my credit card bills hurt later....

If you haven't been to this adorable little boutique, you should get over there and snatch up one of Jennifer's beautiful handmade creations.
If not a unique and funky dress, then at the least you need to take home a pair of cutey-cute undies.
The jewelry is particularly stellar as well. I believe that a certain well-loved Yelper (Laura B.) went home with an awesome red-eyed unicorn necklace last night...so she can attest to the coolness of the goods. :)
My favorite thing in the shop is the Cast of Characters (http://www.castofchara...) 'jeans jewelry' --- these attach to your belt loops and dangle around, drawing attention to your lovely curves.
They also put together art shows on a monthly basis. If you get over there this month, you can see a couple of paintings from yours truly.
By the way, thanks to everyone who came out last night! Next time I hope to be feeling better...

It has been a while since a local business has excited me so much that it demanded a same day review! Jennifer has found a wonderful niche market in handmade lingerie. You can get a glimpse of her production back room through the door that connects the store to her studio. She went from only 5 designs last year to 25 designs this year, an impressive 5 fold increase in her intimate store.
For today's dilemma, I was torn between getting this sexy black sheer temptress lingerie or the purple silk & sheer matching top and bottom with black lace. Jennifer convinced me of the latter because she echoed those words I love to hear, "It's one of a kind." And I walked away with a beloved one-of-a-kind lingerie sets for my friend's bachelorette party gift. It was very obvious that Jennifer puts in a ton of love in designing and producing these items because she seemed sad to part with the piece but also happy that she's making a killer sale. The latter of course contributes to her customer's enjoyment of her wonderful creations, which is why designers design right?
Jennifer's glimmering eye, quick wit, and personable conversations give her rock solid credentials in marketing. Her selection of fabrics, detailed craftsmanship, and flirty designs lend her to rock the casual undergarment business. I can see her talents evolve & diversify and eventually encroach on the fine lingerie powerhouses such as la Perla and Aubade.
She slipped a couple flyers in my shopping bag. The flyers indicate that she'll make appearances in the next 2 weeks at the:
Hayes Valley Capsule Design Faire on Sunday, May 27th
Gen Art Shop SF event on Thursday, May 31st
Chillin' Productions 9th Anniversary Party (filled with fashion designers, painters/photographers, and filmmakers) at Mezzanine on Saturday, June 2nd
Since there's a fairly decent DJ line up, I'd kill to go to the Mezzanine event, but alas, I'll be out-of-town for a business trip =*(. Anyhow, best to Jennifer!

Jennifer is a sincerely wonderful person, and you can tell by the shop. Come here and drop bills, you won't regret it.
Delicious and indulgent hand made clothes and jewelery and underthings, in a variety of soft must-touch fabrics. Get in touch with your girly side and pop in - they've got a sale on for June, too! The location is a little unexpected, but the shop is adorable.
Still trying to talk myself out of that Audrey Hepburn style white basket-weave silk dress...with limited success.
There is art on the walls, as it is a gallery as well as a boutique, but I have to say that this philistine was too focused on the lacy satiny silky goodness on the racks.
One star off (though actually half a star would be more appropriate) for not having anything for the lads.

This spot is tucked a little out of the way but i have a feeling that this area is on its way to great things, especially with the marketing skills of Jennifer Lynne, the proprietor and fantastic underwear designer. I mean she does have the good sense to support local designers and carry Spare Change Designs belts and bags. I also bought these great earrings here for a very fair price.

One of my favorites for sure!
At birth the Gods saw fit to bestow upon me the Pacific Islander/Asian girl no ass gene. So walking into this small boutique on the Mission was a welcome respite from the standard VS utilitarian mass manufactured booty factories. At first glance I thought ok these panties look cute enough and they are super soft....The wow didnt come until i was behind the burgundy velvet curtain. That's right ladies a place where u can actually try panties on! That is, as long as u are wearing something underneath. The boyshorts I tried on made me, want to do me, from behind!!! I can't wait to find a hot hipster boy to rip them off me (preferably with his teeth) Until this unforseeable event occurs i will have to be satisfied with the transformation of what used to be the small flat space between my lower back and upper thighs into my super sick bootylicious bouncy bum! I also snagged a pair of glass earrings that were almost beautiful enough to distract me from my own ass. As if all this werent enough incentive to pay this place a visit I felt great knowing i was purchasing items from local designers with an innovative business model. All three designers present Jennifer, Estrella and Anicka were both gorgeous and helpful but to be perfectly honest are now notably my enablers while i turn crack ho in order to feed this new addiction for an ass so beautiful it will make your Mama cry! If you dont believe me you'll have to see for yourself :)

UPDATE: I visted Porcelynne last nite with my boyfriend (yep, Valentine's Day). He and I browsed and chatted with the owner and we picked out 4 pairs of adorable and comfy skivvies and a matching camisole. Her stuff is so cute - made to fit well and nothing feels classier or more decadent than wearing handmade undies. Yowza! Also, besides just her own clothing, she carries jewlery and clothing and art by other designers/artists. I picked up the cutest little lavender scoopneck tunic as well (cause I had to be my own Valentine too!).
***
Although I haven't even been in the shop - I received the cutest, hottest and perfectly fit pair of undies for Christmas. They were Porcelynne. I cannot wait to get more....
Your sexy undies are being worn by everyone of my girlfriends and even my sister!
I love the current art show: Painter- Ursula * Xanthe * Young
Good designers and artists to come!
porcelynne! yummy!
panties, boy shorts, little lace things, camisoles, oh, don't you just want me to take that off as soon as you've seen it on under all those layers of clothing....? jennifer specializes in super-seductive, sexy undergarments that demand removal. now.
of course, besides that, the super-cute store has a whole selection of women's clothing, accessories and more for yourself, for your girlfriends, or for just anytime..... the store has come a long way since she first opened, and it really is a "boutique" now. i highly recommend stopping by for a visit or a little shopping, and checking out the deliciouness!
if you're a designer as well, jennifer hosts a monthly fashion industry networking event, call for details!
besides porcelynne's regular hours, there are monthly art receptions and other special events posted on the website. in 2006, porcelynne received the mastermind grant from SF Weekly. SUPPORT LOCAL DESIGNERS! and so few actually make panties, so you have NO excuse!
get yummy sf style......
