By their own admission, this place is selling food/french fries that have been rejected by McDonald's. I wouldn't eat at McDonald's if it was the last place on earth. The food here is sub-McDonald's. Check out the Chicago Tribune article:

This is the best Italian Beef in the city. Thinly shaved, always fresh, never gristly. And full of deliciousness.
I love the "gardinera" here too. I used quotes b/c it's not like regular gardinera... it's not pickled veggies, it's fresh thinly sliced celery & jalapenos & red pepper flakes marinated in olive oil. It's crunchy and perfect with a beef w/ gravy (or dipped).
Also, the fries are great-- thin and always hot, but I always need more salt. And the hot dogs are yummy too.
If I still ate meat...
This is one of the best beef's I've tasted in the city. The Giardiniera isn't traditional but is amazing.
Best of all I've got to applaud the consistency of this place. Been going since I was a kid probably 20 yrs ago and it has always been great.
Sitting outside of Pops eating a great roast beef sandwich watching the cars on Kedzie go by is a pleasure from my youth that I miss. They're famous for the beef but everything on the menu is worth eating. A true gem.
Fast food at its best. I recommend the super-beef, the largest italian beef sandwich you have ever seen. Kick it up even more and make it a supercombo. Add mozzarella chesse and a large chocolate shake and get the defibulator ready. Great hot dogs and burgers also!
when I use to eat beef I went here. The food is good but it goes straight to your stomach to give you a roll. So if you eat here often use your gym membership.
This is the type of beef you crave. SO Delish!!! It's got a distinct Pop's beef taste and the hot peppers are a bright green and hot! Even though the fries kinda suck, there's a McDonald's right across the street if you prefer to get them from there.
Very tasty beef and a good malt.
