This was really fun. My son's car was in the shop and we stopped here before we picked it up. This is not a fancy restaurant - I'd classify it as a sports bar "wannabe". I say that because we were there when the Bulls game was on, and there were only a handful of people there.

They have a great beer selection - lots of craft beers. Their menu is bar food - pizza, wraps, hamburgers, etc. Jon had a chicken wrap, I had a "hangover cure hamburger" - all of their burgers are 1/2 pound. This one had bacon, a fried egg and cheese (I had them hold the cheese). I had a amber bock beer of some kind that was on tap. They have a wide variety of sides to choose from - cole slaw, fries, waffle fries, tater tots and there were a few other things too.

The service was a little slow, but not too bad. The wait staff was very friendly - I love it when the servers seem genuinely happy when you're there. And, the food was really good. There were TVs everywhere, most of them had the Bulls game on so we had a great view.

The bar itself is very nice. Lots of barstools. There are no booths of restaurant tables. There are large, high tables that seat 10 or so. When we were there, Jon and I sat at one table. There was an older guy sitting at the table next to us nursing a whiskey. But, there were about a dozen or so sitting around the bar doing shots and beer....

I'll definitely be back. This is right in downtown Palatine a couple of block from the train station. Convenient, good food, good beer and good service.

Jon and me at Pop's in Palatine.

Local watering hole and one of very few decent options where to enjoy a cold pint. Modest beer choices, cheap weekly specials and cute waitstaff. They have Golden Tee and a Buck hunter pro tournament machine.
Most nights the clientele are of all ages. More minute gathering of people. They've got ample security and in most cases fights never break out. Its a good start of those nights of cheap beer and sports on TV. While most nights draw mostly dudes, there are a few when crowds of girls will come in. Its one of very few popular bars in this area. Internet jukebox offered, though, I think it operates on DSL so sometimes looking up songs can be tedious.
What's the deal with men's rooms and fruit flies. Get rid of this shit..already. I'm not used to fanning off animals from my privates.
Stella on tap, there's hope for this suburban bar.

So, they tried to make it nice and cool looking inside, which is nice, but it is gross in here. All old dudes, shot girls handing out cheap, watered-down liquor, and it literally smelled like a big turd inside. Also, my glass had lipstick on it that was not mine. We guzzled our pitcher of Bud Light and hightailed it to Lamps.

Seriously, it smelled like a giant turd.

Definitely a "Meh" kind of bar. Nothing I will remember or have an itch to return to. I met a guy here for a drink and the bar was pretty empty, it was a Thursday night... but it was dead! I think we were the youngest people in the bar too. The drinks were okay, the bar was okay, and the service was sub par even though it was dead. Not very friendly service.

Have been here twice in the last 2 weeks and have enjoyed myself both times.

First visit was a Tuesday night to watch the Brewers/Cubs game and was pretty impressed. A lot of younger attractive types watching the game and having drinks. They were considerate about having both the Cubs and Sox game on in enough locations to make everyone happy.

Second night was a Friday after work and it was completely different crowd, about 90% men over 55 and the rest was a mix. I dont know if a local golf outing just got over or what but thats what it looked like.

Plenty of TV's, 1 dart board, plenty of room to sit and a variety of seating arrangements (cool booth layouts for larger groups).

Only knock on the place was the service. Waitress, although cute and polite, were quite slow in getting drinks. Food also was slow to come out, not necessarily the waitresses fault I understand. Food when it came out (chicken sandwich and 20 wings for the both of us) were very good.

The owner stopped by to make sure everything was going ok for Mike F and I which I thought was considerate.

I will more than likely consider stopping in to this bar again after I have visited the rest of the bars within walking distance.

[Used to be Pete's of Palatine]

I've been going here since I turned 21 in January `10. A very cozy atmosphere. Plenty of seating and the staff is very friendly. Susan is the best!

This place seems to get a lot of the overflow from nearby bars, so it can get crowded later in the evening. I always show up early enough to grab a table.

Has a side room with a pool table for private events. Plenty of delicious tater tots for only $2.95! I also really like their burgers and onion rings. Plus a whole menu of other great food choices.

They also have HDTV's showing different sports games, but I wouldn't call it a sports bar. Has one of those internet jukeboxes for $1, but I think you have to pay $2 if you actually want to hear your song before you leave.

As a late-night bar spot, Pop's is a good place for those who aren't just barely old enough to drink. As a someone who's gone out around Palatine over the past few years, I can honestly say this place used to be my #2 haunt. Unfortunately, as I get older (mind you I'm still a few years off from 30), my #1 spot has me "outdated" and have recently found myself over at Pop's more often.

On the up side, the drink prices are good, the floor plan is open, there's a good amount of seating and there's plenty of televisions up high for optimal game-watching. On the other hand, I didn't give it a higher star rating as the ambiance as (including their bar-tending staff) seems to lack a bit of spirit. Overall, I'd recommend (and have) this place to my friends and will go back again.

Like a lot of places in Palatine, Pop's is yet another hidden gem. It's quite large inside and the perfect place to watch any sport.
They have TVs all over the place, and the service is fantastic.
The food is pretty good too!

The food here is good; the drink specials are okay--we made due with pitchers of Bud Light at a decent price.

We came here after work on a Friday, and we were the only people under 40 there until maybe 9:00. Pete's is a solid sports bar, and I would go again, but I'm definitely not the target demographic.

Not quite as good as it was when it was Charlie's/Pete's. Yes, it used both names. No, I don't think there was any good reason.

Anyway, still quite good burgers, sandwiches, and wings, and plenty of televisions. However, the menu size has dropped somewhat (though all the standards remain), and more importantly, the wait staff, while very friendly, no longer consists chiefly of lovely young ladies with, shall we say, significant assets. Alas.
